Yelp
All around fabulous! Post Thanksgiving couple's night of 8 ppl, no prob for Chip and Donna. Their hospitality, service and delightful menu rec's were all top notch. Fresh baked bread starter was splendid. Diverse, well priced menu (FOMO engaged) despite some details/descriptions missing (some entrees come with salad, Ahi Oscar came w baked pot, etc).
Chilean sea bass, 5/5. Top rec from Chip, got rave review from all who tasted. Fresh, tender, masterfully prepared fish bursting with aromatics and flavor. Served with side salad.
Shrimp n grit and jambalaya, 5/5. Same grilled blackened shrimp (count 5), just different starch, grits vs rice. Both were flavorful with a touch of welcomed spicy heat. If you're a thick, not runny grits person, this is your dish! Seems small but definitely filling. Both served with side salads.
Beef bleu, 5/5. Brother-in-law said it was among top steak dishes he's ever had; cooked perfectly to requested temp, tender, flavorful, enhanced forkful composition from melty cheese. Mashed potatoes were smooth, creamy and flavorful; asparagus grilled to perfection. Served with side salad.
Crab-cake, 4.5/5. Hefty portion, loads of back fin and lump crabmeat with minimal crackers as binding. Remoulade was sweet with a hint of spice from old bay seasoning. Sub'd fries and coleslaw (sweet/vinegar base) in place of rice and asparagus at no charge. Served with side salad.
Fried green tomato BLT, 4.5/5. High value, quality for huge portion; made with sourdough in panini fashion. Loved the salty bacon combined with homemade pimento cheese, fresh lettuce and warm fried tomato composition. Note: substituting fries for chips was a surprise $2.50 up charge.
Chipotle Chicken BLAST wrap, 4/5. Deli sliced chicken (not grilled breast chunks) with bacon, lettuce, avocado, sauce, and tomato. Large portion; pretty good overall but not the home run other dishes were. Note: substituting fries for chips was a surprise $2.50 up charge.
Ahi Oscar, 3.75/5. Came with a basic side salad, house made avocado dressing was dynamite! Blacked tuna was a good sized piece of fish; though mostly tender and cooked to requested temp, flavor was average, also true for crabmeat. Didn't expect a baked potato (not a fan) but elevated it via holdover avocado dressing. Grilled asparagus was great.
Homemade dessert cakes, 5/5. You know I have a dessert stomach!
Carrot cake was well composed; right combo of not sweet, moist spiced cake w nuts and craisins, adorned with sweet cream cheese icing. Served semi-chilled.
Lemon cake also well composed; moist not sweet cake iced with sweet buttercream, topped with gooey lemon glaze. Served semi-chilled. As far as weight in your stomach, I wouldn't call this light.
Death by chocolate was the mature, well constructed older cousin of the old school Shoney's hot fudge cake, sans ice cream. Rich, moist, and sweet. Every bite was chocolatey goodness.
So glad limited Covid capacity thwarted our first choice. This will be the new destination for annual couples dinners to come!
