Where to Eat, Stay, and Play in Monaco

"The family-friendly Monte-Carlo Bay Hotel & Resort feels like more of a Mediterranean island retreat, with seaside sun beds and beach fare from two Michelin-starred chef Marcel Ravin; Balinese-style beds by the sand-bottom lagoon; and water sports like parasailing and tubing available off the hotel’s pontoon."

"This modern 11-story hotel, built on the end of the beachside Larvotto strip, is a chic but unpretentious family-friendly resort that attracts travelers for its prime location and the amicable Mediterranean-style village atmosphere. Guests come for the three restaurants, spa, and two pools (one with an artificial sand-bottom lagoon), plus the Bay Casino, jammed with the latest high-tech slot machines. If guests want to relax, chances are they head to the lounge chairs surrounded by the botanical gardens or head down the road to the Monte-Carlo Beach for water sports. The comfortable, sleek, contemporary-style rooms have dark or blond wood furnishings, duvet-covered beds, plasma-screens TVs, and spacious white bathrooms. Another highlight is the sea-view terraces, with a dreamy vista of the illuminated pool, gardens, and the Sporting d’Eté complex. The highly affordable off-season prices are a deal, considering the Principality’s mild climate is reliably sunny, even during the winter."

The End of the Hotel Breakfast Buffet - Eater

"The Hotel Monte-Carlo Bay in Monaco, then, has concocted a slightly more high-touch solution. 'We have changed our way of serving our famous brunch, which will be served by our waiters, instead of going to the buffet,' said Frederic Darnet, the hotel’s general manager. He calls the new approach 'Table Brunch' — how novel — where staff deliver dishes directly to guests tableside. And for those who want to avoid the restaurant altogether, they offer a Floating Breakfast package, an elaborate spin on the traditional French breakfast, served on a floating tray in the lagoon (for roughly $140). 'I’m happy that we can adapt,' he adds." - Nadja Sayej

Good hotel stay was perfect. But for some strange reason they have a policy to not renew the water bottles in the room for the entire stay. So once you drink the bottle on the first day. Thats it no more water bottle. In this day and age where hydration is so important this shouldn’t be charged. Spirits I understand but water??! Therefore 1 star for being greedy

Beautiful hotel in Monte Carlo. The restaurants are truly excellent – every meal was a highlight. Service is correct and efficient, not over the top but everything well managed. The pool and the greenery around the property are absolutely stunning. Rooms are clean, modern and comfortable, but a bit too minimalistic for Monte Carlo – they lack some local charm. Also, our double bed had two mattresses put together, which kept moving apart and was slightly uncomfortable. Overall, we really enjoyed our stay and would be happy to return.

Great family hotel in a fantastic location in Monaco. The outdoor areas are beautiful and very spacious given the location. Staff generally friendly. The rooms are a little dated and showing their age but not to the degree it’s a problem. Some silly prices by the pool but to be expected.

Was lucky enough to attend a conference in Monaco and this was our hotel. A real amazing experience - you feel like living the dream. Rooms are spacious and the sheer size of the gardens overwhelm you with some fantastic views.

Stayed here for 2 nights. Rooms are tired and need a refresh. The “king size” beds are two twins pushed together with a substantial groove down the center. The pillows are flat as pancakes. The AC did not cool the room down at all. They only use a comforter on the bed, no top sheet so sleeping was unbearably hot and uncomfortable. Very stingy on the towels and soap. Would not stay here again. Staff is wonderful though.

I was luckily to stay here for a work event for 3 nights. The hotel is beautiful and spotlessly clean. The rooms are spacious with a huge bath and separate shower. Loved the balcony with a sofa which I did not get to enjoy enough!

Location amazing, service great, rooms very average for the price. Yet, If it was my hotel, i would do the following changes: - move the gym somewhere with a view of at least with windows and in a bigger place. Very claustrophobic. - walking from pool to sea destroys your feet. Maybe add rubber or fix the floor! - the enclosed sea access feels really cheap for such a hotel. When you swim, you cannot see beyond it, very weird feeling. Also there is no place to sit or rest, it is either swim or leave. Maybe put a kind of pontoon or buoy or floating platform. These are not costly suggestions that would tweak the experience for the better! Thanks

I loved this hotel (first time staying with them, and first time in Monaco). I have to say, for those who have never been: it is about 2.2 km from the most touristic areas around Casino de Monte Carlo and Cafe Paris, right across the street from Hotel Paris. But that to my husband and I was the best part! It was quiet, and a perfect place to relax. You can easily spend 2 or 3 days just within the resort's pools, restaurants, and spa. But if what you're looking for is proximity to the luxury shops, you'll need either a cab, which the hotel can arrange for you, or you can take the bus. Line 5 has a stop right outside the hotel, it was 2 euros per person for the one-way ticket, air conditioned bus with plenty of seats at that stop. It filled out as it stopped along the town, but nothing concerning. I love this hotel wholeheartedly, and would stay here again if/when I come back.
