Two Tasting Experiences: Aromas y Sabores/Aromas & Flavors: $980 Pesos ($61 USD); Cata Excepcional/Exceptional Tasting (single varietal blind tasting): $980 Pesos ($61 USD), as of our 8/8/24 visit. Each tasting included four pours and a small charcuterie board. You can also purchase bottles and sit and enjoy in the winery or covered patio.
We've been coming to Valle de Guadalupe for about 15 years now, however this was only our second visit to Monte Xanic. The winery and property are beautiful, and they even have 3 or 4 EV chargers onsite. I was a little put off that they only offered two "gimmicky" tasting & tour combos, but we ended up choosing the "Aromas y Sabores", which started with a winery tour, and ended with a game of guessing three aromas for each wine poured, choosing the one aroma that didn't belong, and guessing what they were. Alejandra "Ale" was our hostess, and she was absolutely wonderful (especially putting up with my initial attitude). During the tour, she stated that Monte Xanic is the fifth largest winery in Mexico with an annual production of 100,000 cases. The wines are well made, but like our first visit, they didn't really connect with our palates. That being said, you should always try for yourself, as everyone's wine palate is unique and what I dislike, you may love...and vice versa. I'm not going to tell you what we tasted, as that may spoil it for someone who's just going to visit, however it was a white, a rosé, and two reds.
Overall, Monte Xanic is a beautiful winery with well-made wines, good service, and amazing views. Unfortunately, their wines are just not exactly what we're looking for. It's definitely worth a visit.
