"The drive to Key West is a notorious pain in the ass, so save some gas and just go to Monty’s instead. By no means is this the best place for seafood in Miami, but if you hold out for one of their tables with a good view of Biscayne Bay (there are many at the very large and mostly outdoor raw bar) and order a Miami Vice, you won’t care because if there is one tried-and-true Miami equation, it’s water views plus frozen alcohol equals happiness." - Ryan Pfeffer
"Allows guests to add mango to any of the frozen cocktails — including the lime margarita — and highlights mango as a customizable, cooling option at its Grove location." - Allison Ramirez
"Monty’s has a decent raw bar, a great waterfront view, and an owner who people refer to as The Grovefather. You can sit inside, but why do that when you can eat coconut shrimp, drink piña coladas, and watch sailboats float by? There’s almost always a live band playing Jimmy Buffett-adjacent tunes. Whether you arrive on a boat or a rusty old bike, you’ll get the same service, cold beer, and stone crab claws. This place opened in 1969, and Miami Vice even shot a couple of episodes here." - virginia otazo
"Monty’s is a big, outdoor, waterfront restaurant in Coconut Grove that looks like a tiki hut that ate some magical beans and became huge. If they didn’t serve oysters here, we’d be a little offended. Luckily, they do. Gulf oysters are available all day long, and so are some strong frozen drinks, which are slightly cheaper during Happy Hour every Mon-Fri from 4-7pm." - ryan pfeffer
"If you’re trying to eat and drink outside next to the water in Coconut Grove, the answer is pretty much always Monty’s. This big, outdoor seafood restaurant feels like a tiki hut on steroids. Happy Hour here (Mon-Fri from 4-7pm) is a good call if you want to have frozen cocktails and cheap oysters. None of the food is that memorable, but you'll happily finish it. Plus, Monty's is just a Miami classic and a day drinking staple. Reservations aren’t required, and flip-flops are embraced." - ryan pfeffer, virginia otazo
