Monty's Sunset - South Beach

Actually our neighborhood likes this place. I eat out a lot … 350 nights a year and I travel a lot. Next trip I have to go to the Middle East …and realized I didn’t have time to go far since I had a publishing deadline and I landed at Monty’s. It is definitely more festive in the evening. The outside bar opposite the pool is popular. There are TVs for sports. The menu is hit and miss. Some things good where other things are so so. Let’s call this a neighborhood bar with a fantastic view of the moored boats with that serves food. Today instead of going to Burger King or Burgermeister I ordered a burger here. The bun was stale ( yes it was toasted or grilled but the bun was hard on the edges. But the real killer was the GREASE and then omg the NaCl or salt. Maybe the cook had forgotten that he had salted it and did a double dose. Believe me it was salty. You could see the edema in my leg. My waiter ( Jonathan ) was very nice and attentive. Actually, he was apologetic but as I said to him-this is a cook error. The hostess staff was lifeless. There are other things I would share but I like this place and our neighborhood needs reasonably priced food BUT 31.00 for a so so experience was a tad much. Last time I got the fish and chips and even Prince William would have been pleased.

Found this gem in Miami beach when we stayed there the night before our cruise. It was late afternoon so we had missed the chance to enjoy the pool. We ordered food which arrived quickly and was delicious. They had a live dj keeping the place buzzing which was good. There was a great mix from all age groups. So all in all a great vibe.

This place is kind of cool. There is live music while looking over the marina. It was busy in the evening. We ordered calamari, tuna tartar, and fish of the day. The food was amazing, fresh, and tasty. The waiter was friendly, smile and enjoy what they are doing which is very nice

Overall a decent enough experience although was expecting a little more in terms of both the food quality and atmosphere given the reviews I’d read on here. Food we had was nice enough just nothing particularly special or outstanding, likewise the atmosphere was quite subdued/quiet. Service was great though and seeing the sunset over the boats and skyline is definitely worth the price paid (just under $300 for 4)

Our server was fantastic. He was very attentive and made sure we were well taken care of. The food was perfect. Prices are fair and the atmosphere of sitting outside was wonderful. Unfortunately I live far away or this would be my go to restaurant

We went for an early dinner and sundowner. The place is chill next to a pool. Nice bar and vibes The food was good. And the service was great. We were helped by Lettica who was great with a great smile.

We tried Monty's for the first time in a long time. We had the oysters 1 dz, not worth it very small, the long island was promised a certain size and way and what we got was soo skimpy and watered down that we just felt soo disappointed 😞. The server was very nice and did his best to please us. Everything else in the pictures speak for themselves.

Monty’s was recommended to us by a tour guide. Great place the locals go on the water. Fun casual atmosphere. Menu has a wide variety of food to choose from. Sushi offered Thursday to Sunday. Happy hour 5-8. Prices were reasonable.

Come here at least twice a month on the boat. Usually pretty good, nothing crazy, but not bad. Good atmosphere, live music sometimes. Pretty nice. Too much of the food is fried. The menu needs to be leveled up. They close too early.

I love coming here. Food is very good and so atrocious the drinks. Must try their painkiller. They have a pool outside that is open until 5pm daily. Inside has an area with pool table and arcade games. They have live music by the pool. Definitely a great place to have drinks enjoy a great ocean view and just hang out. Service is great.

Classic beach bar food and casual atmosphere. Thick Burger and average chicken tenders. Huge plate of Steak Nachos but not sure about $26 for Nachos. Nachos and a shrimp appetizer for $60, woof. Parking was validated, so ate here before taking the boat out. Would definitely go back when the vibe calls for it.

If you are looking for casual water views were you can bring a furry friend look no further than Monty's. There is live music, amazing lobster rolls, sushi and ceviche perfectly married with the right amount of acid. Oh and the people watching is pretty good too.

Monty's on south beach has a great atmosphere If you eat halal, they have a foot long hot dog sandwich that is absolutely delicious The staff is so accommodating and offers virgin drinks : absolutely love, will come back, can't wait to try more things and bring people here : pretty good, some quality issues, would return again : simple stuff, nothing crazy here, location could not be clean or employees not friendly : I may give this place a chance to improve at least one more time : I will not be returning here

Last night in town and we decided to Monty's to have a great dinner with an amazing view. The service was stellar and great energy. Food was perfect for the location. Super casual and fun. I had the fish and chips and it was just the right amount of crisp on the fish and great flavor. My son had cheeseburger and my sister had the bratwurst which is always fun to see on a menu. Great place for a nice relaxing meal with amazing views of the city.

Came to Monty's on a Sunday to watch the heat game. This place is always a vibe! We got the calamari which was good, we did have to ask for tartar sauce and Tabasco though because the marinara sauce that came with it did not have much flavor. The sushi here is always so good, it is a must get for me. And the Philly cheesesteak was also delicious! The serving sizes are great and so is the service!

The fish n chips was amazing crispy on the outside tender on the inside and flavorful. And a plus is the breading isn't overwhelming the fish which is great!! Our server was patient and efficient and friendly will definitely be back.

Great vibes! Poor is only open till 5, so be aware of this as we went thinking the kids could dip during happy hour and we could have a couple cocktails. We got the mussels and the conch chowder. Conch chowder is red, not white, so don't expect a cream base. Food was decent! Service was not great at first, but then another service took over and it was wonderful! We did get told to move our towels from drying on a chair.... By the pool... that was odd. In their words "the owners won't like that."

Monty's has been a staple for Happy Hours for as long as I can remember. Its somewhat touristy, I always get really yummy oysters here and you can't beat the view. I gave it 4 stars because I have to chase down bartenders here for a drink which is kind of annoying. Nevertheless, worth checking out. It usually has beautiful sunsets and the view of the marina is always refreshing. Plenty of parking and great to people watch.

We enjoyed a night out to celebrate my brothers birthday and we enjoyed the food, service, music, and ambiance. We ordered the whole fried fish, and a dozen oysters. The oysters were good, they offered 2 options, 1 was bigger but they were fresh and delicious. The music was nice, we didn't sit to close to the band, we wanted to talk. Overall a really great experience.

Well, I went with my service dog, which is a toy poodle that weights 10 pounds, and they kicked me out saying that there was a dog fight or something at the bar, and that not even service dogs were allowed. If you have a dog or even worst, a service dog like I do, this is definitely NOT THE PLACE to go! I understand some breeds can be quite violent, like Pitbulls, but a poodle?? Give me a BREAK!!!! Completely NOT DOG FRIENDLY AT ALL!!!

Food, location, price, service and music will keep me coming back. Monty's is amazing, the true waterfront restaurant every tourist should come to. Fresh amazing seafood, reasonable pricing and located right next to the south beach marina make this place unbeatable. HIGHLY recommend the coconut shrimp!

This is the best place in South Beach. The view is incredible especially for sunset. I love the food. My favorites are the Ribs, Grilled Chicken, Tuna Wonton (HH), and the Cheesesteak. Live music every Friday, Saturday, Sunday + they have a great happy hour. It's great for families or date night.

I am such a big fan of this location it has become a place I often frequent with my partner for date night as well as recommending it to friends and family who come to visit me here in Miami Beach! The Ambiance is great as its laid back but you can dress somewhat nice, you get a BEAUTIFUL view of the bay so i recommend going at sunset (hence the name of the location) If you go Thursday-Sunday they have sushi and my favorite is the sunset roll as it has fresh pear giving it that great fresh crunchy flavor. A big hit among my family is the conch chowder as well as their clam, the lobster BLT, the mussels, the ribs (we only do full racks over here), the hot dog (it will be the biggest hot dog you have seen in your LIFE), and the quesadillas. The servers are always incredibly kind and they don't lessen the pour of liquor during happy hour. Love this location, will continue to come back.

The atmosphere/set up of the water view and tiki life made us feel like we were on an island!! We purchased the coconut shrimp and conch fritters. The food was okay but only did 3 stars as the conch fritters were more like conch balls dipped twice in batter? The shrimp also was double breading. If you're looking for beautiful scenery this would be a 5 star review. But with food I had to bump it down.

Great atmosphere, plenty of outdoor seating, and good food! We popped over to Monty's Sunset for date night and had a great time. Our server, Diego, was absolutely wonderful! We sat out on the patio with a view of the bay-side marina. We could hear the live music coming from the bar area, on the other side of the pool. (Wasn't too loud and was very enjoyable!). We split an order of calamari, I ordered the lobster roll, he ordered the lobster tails. Our order was expensive, but that was expected with lobster -- the rest of the menu seemed fairly priced for the area, experience, and food. The Pain Remover cocktail was yummy - definitely recommend for the 21+ crowd! Free Parking (call their number for further details), outdoor seating, swimming pool open certain hours, full service bar. Highly recommend!

Fresh seafood and raw bar. The restaurant has a pool which is very nice for a Miami summer day and you can pull up on your boat for lunch with 2 hour free docking.

Montys is one of my favorite places to hang out at in SOUTH BEACH. The oysters are phenomenal I had some crab as well that was pretty good. Great vibes and music all around.

Food...ok Service - Great! Ambiance - Cool vibes! I would definitely come back and maybe try another dish. The fish was a bit over cooked. The oyster Rockefeller was just ok. Nothing spectacular!

I'll start off by saying it's not a 5 star rating because of the service. We had the hamachi crudo, the Double T roll and the king crab. The king crab was my favorite part they had these thick juicy pieces, so so good.

A bit expensive, but great portion sizes. My party was definitely satisfied with our meal and it was at a great location on the marina. I've definitely dined at places with much better food quality and level of freshness in South Beach... the chicken on my nachos definitely was not cooked fresh and I would bet that the guacamole was the premade, packaged kind. They definitely have the cheapest happy hour special in South Beach, so you can't beat that!

If you're looking for a casual place with a great view to grab a view drinks, then Monty's won't disappoint. Additionally, they were playing some of the best throwback music - it was a vibe. Service was decent - nothing to complain about here. I will say, however, it seems they offer less cocktail options on their happy hour than the Grove location.

If you love seafood this is one of the places to go too !! Service is always great, family friendly crowd. There's indoor and outdoor seating which is great because it's by the water so you can enjoy your views and live music... Ooo don't miss out on the fresh oysters & mojitos

We love this location. The whole red snapper is amazing the wedge salad and New York steak too Ezekiel, the server was amazing. Very attentive and professional. Sunset delight

The location and view is perfect, especially on this Saturday night! The food and service ......not so much. I had the classic Fish and Chips. My preferred name for this meal would have been basic fish and chips. It came with a hearty serving of fresh hot fries and about 3 nice plump pieces of fish. The fish had a nice crunchy batter. The shortfall was the "almost" overcooked fish and its lack of seasoning. Someone in my party ordered sweet potato fries and returned them because they tasted fishy. I wanted to replace my fries, with onion rings but substitutions were not allowed. Our party of about 16 was served by Marlus alone. He really had to hustle. I appreciate that. My food came before my soda. That's an indication of the hustle. I also received my individual food before an adjoining party of 4, who were there before me received theirs It was a little embarrassing for me when I realized what had happened. They did give me 4 hours of validated parking in their private lot. That was nice. There was a live band with a male vocalist who were pretty good and played music across a lot of genres. A few folks in swimsuits were dancing. Overall, I think this is a great location to have a casual drink, eat a few raw oysters and watch the cruise ships sail out towards the Atlantic. To expect anything more, might be a little disappointing.

South Beach Gem. Had an amazing time with my family. Had an amazing dinner while listening to the live band play awesome music. The service was excellent and the food was amazing. Highly recommend for anyone in the south beach area to come have a good time with delicious food.

I was blown away by the service and quality of the food! WOW! Haven't had food this good in awhile. Every single thing we ordered was D E L I C I O U S! A few years ago I went to Monty'a at the Grove and I wasn't impressed. Maybe that's why I had never visited this other location. But it was late on Friday night, we were starving and they had plenty of availability and parking so it was a huge plus. To find a place to dine at in South Beach and parking is never easy so this worked out great. For starters we ordered their nacho. Wow! The only other restaurant that I think has the BEST steak nachos is Latin House Grill, but these came fairly close. They were sooooo good. The flavor of the steak was on point and the plate was just loaded and overflowing with flavor! I could've just ordered nachos as my main entree and been totally satisfied. But I ate with my eyes (spanish saying) and I ordered their special of the day- half a BBQ chicken & half rack of ribs with corn on the cob and coleslaw). I took almost all of it home but not before taking a few bites and savoring the ribs. Amazing. Ribs were fall-of-the-bone and the chicken was pretty good too. What really made me give them 5 stars was their "fish & chips" entree. O M G! I have ordered fish and chips from many places and most are soggy and the fish isn't flaky and flavorful. This one had everything right- the outside had the perfect crunchy bite to it was cooked golden to perfection. The inside....oh man, my mouth waters thinking about it, was flaky and the fish was filled with all the flavors. Pure deliciousness! I will definitely go back to order this dish! My daughter ordered the shrimp tacos and she said it was "FIRE"!! She has ordered shrimp tacos from many places and she said this was one of the best places. Hands down. Last but not least. our waiter. His name was Dominick. Hope I got the spelling right. He was the very BEST! Never had to ask for refills. He was super attentive and sweet. Made sure to ask if we were happy with our food. Every restaurant needs someone like him. I can't rave about his service enough. It was that GOOD!!!

They used to be dog friendly but recently became dog UNFRIENDLY. All things considered if you don't have to go there don't. It is the only bar/restaurant on SOBE that isn't dog friendly. And the food is only so so, drinks are expensive. They rely on being the only bar on the boardwalk by the marina. Only go if you are stuck there an need a beer

I have been to Monty's many times, this Sunday i had a great time... we were out on a boat ride, felt like a snack and passed by for some sushi! The presentation was beautiful, they serve it with orchids and it was prepared fairly quickly. They had live music and good service, unfortunately I didn't think it the tables were clean, and they gave paper menus which I am no longer a fan off, Im more into digital menus, and sure enough the menus were not clean... It was a fun experience and I would go again!

Not the view you expect, and the sunset doesn't show from the majority of the restaurant. The atmosphere was still pretty cool and the pool area had a live band. The food and drinks were great; we had the nachos and a sushi roll.

I haven't been for a while in Monty's and on a Tuesday decided to go there for some good seafood, happy hour and beautiful sunset with my wife and dog. The happy hour there is amazing! $0.75 jumbo shrimp (each), $1.5 oysters (each), $7.5 per snow crab. $4.5-$5.5 beers! And to be honest the quality of the food is really good! We had a lot of shrimp, oysters, a couple of stone crabs, conch chowder soup was ok, blackened mahi sandwich was good! But definitely go there during the week before 8pm for happy hour for raw seafood!!! Service was actually also pretty good even that the place was pretty packed! So now I have one more favorite spot for happy hour!

I love Montys. As a local it's such a great spot for what could be an amazing day all the way to evening chill spot. Great vibes always. For tourists, definitely check it out. Unfortunately miami beach sucks at live music but at least here we get some! The food is really good too. Most of it at least. Service is great just always busy. Only reason it gets 4 is for the usual reasons. This time it's for the drinks. I think too overpriced.

One of my favorite places during sunset is Monty's Sunset in South Beach, the location is amazing, facing the Bay at the Miami Beach Marina, it is just gorgeous to sit there and watch the world go by and cruise ships going out at sea. Last night the weather was perfect, sitting on their patio eating oysters, sipping Prosecco and Piña Colada was the perfect ending of a working day, we are so lucky to live here, just beautiful @montyssunset @miamibeachmarina

Monty's is amazing. Right on the water and a locals spot. Great people watching. It has a Key West vibe that is very rare in Miami Beach and even rarer in Miami more broadly. Awesome live music on Sundays too although I am unsure the schedule. The food is only "okay" but it's what you except for bar food. I stick to the fried options.

Y'all, please when I tell you... spend your money at one of the other million seafood restaurants in Miami. I'm a local and I always try to give Monty's a chance because of its pleasant atmosphere. But man. They have just stopped caring. Cold canned clam chowder?? Really??. Calamari - tasteless. Just fried breaded nothingingness. Awful service. Slow and non chalant. Having these two appetizers was enough for my friend and I to decide we didn't want to continue eating here. We canceled our entrees and we weren't charged for the soup because we didn't eat it. When the bill came we paid $30 for two sodas and a barely half eaten calamari. Never. Again.

Monty's on Miami Beach is my go to dive bar. Their food is amazing, which you may not guess from the outside. The service is subpar, but they are usually super busy, so I do not blame them. They have live music frequently which is a hit, being right on the water makes it feel like you are at a Bahamian bar on the beach. My favorite dishes are the Wedge Salad and the Chicken Sandwich. Oysters and Peel and Eat shrimp are fresh and great as well.

secret - the stone crabs here are the same that are at Joes stone crabs without the wait r the unneccary hype. monty's is a neighborhood miami spot that locals go to. it's a nice location on the water and if you know then you know. i've only had the stone crabs and cocktails here so I don't have much of a review for anything else, but the stone crabs are always super good!!

We got lucky and showed up during happy hour so we got some delicious daiquiris for $6. They were strong and well worth every dollar! We also got seated by the pool, and could see the marina full of yachts, which was an excellent table! I should have taken a photo of my ribs/slaw/fries order because it was wonderful! My friends thought their ceviche and platter of shrimp and oysters was a bit bland and that the tortilla chips were stale. Dang! They should have ordered what I did, because my food was the bomb! That said, we all loved everything about this restaurant. The prices were good, the location was great and the service was fast and friendly. If you are going to dine on the water in South Beach and can get here before 8 pm then you too can get a very happy, happy hour.

It's ok. Nothing crazy. Coconut shrimp and mahi fish sandwich or salad are good. Cheap drinks. A little better than Flannigans for the area. Service is good. $8 Coconut mojito for happy hour was ok.

Very nice place to come and sit outside and enjoy weekday happy hour or on the weekends. Especially nice when the weather is cool outside. Catch the sunset and a live band. I've been coming here for years and steadily a Miami staple. The piña colada was extra strong this time but in a good way and the sushi delish. The wings pretty good as well. We caught 30 Herts live band playing. Sunday Funday!!

I love coming here just for the stone crab claws. The mediums are only $8.50 each for Happy Hour while the jumbo ones are $47 each and the large ones are $21 each. They're so fresh and sweet here since Monty's get the first pick. The other food here is mostly comfort/fried and generally mediocre/good: quesadillas, nachos, fritters, tater tots, sandwiches, guacamole. The frozen drinks here are not very sweet at all.

Monty's is a great lil spot in the Fifth region of Miami Beach. It is a cheap cocktail/snack/meal option and a nice place to chill and watch the sun go down on the harbour, the port and downtown Miami. This is for sure a locals fav bar - ie dip in here for a chilled beer after parking your boat (or bicycle in my case!) or walking your pooch along the walkway here. There are a lot of posh high rises here, and I am sure they appreciate this bar! A perfect day would be to go on the beach, then a walk to the pier, walk walong the walk way, through the park, and people watch, (you see allsorts - trapeze, yoga, pooch training and walking, stray cats that live on the rocks, sunbathers, diners, etc etc, and the cruise ships gliding by, this spot is a real vibrant place. This place also has a haphazard stage area - so I believe they do have live bands, although not when I have been. Do not expect gourmet food - just medicore pub fayre. We quite often go as a pit stop from our bike rides when we are in thisarea. They also have a pool which you can use. The toilets are horrible btw.

Location, location, location... and painkillers! Monty's is all about the location, sitting outdoors alongside the pool and looking out over the ocean marina is special, and never more so than these covid days. With just a little effort, this place could have great food... they don't but hey I always come back? I usually order the blackened mahi tacos, and they are completely different every time. I keep ordering it so I guess I'm not mad? The burgers look amazing, they taste good. The chili lime tater tots are definitely amazing, and their fries are solid too. Please bring back the BRICK (of curly fries oh my gosh these were legendary)!
