Watch Houston Chef Nikky Tran on Netflix’s New Show ‘Street Food’ | Eater Houston

"This La Porte seafood restaurant has reopened six weeks after being forced to close due to the ITC chemical fire. Owner Bob Laws reported discarding $17,000 worth of seafood and other kitchen staples and hiring an environmental firm to test soil and water for contamination. In a public statement he emphasized that the restaurant does not—and never has—served fish or shrimp caught from the Houston Ship Channel or Galveston Bay, and that they purchase only from certified, inspected seafood wholesalers." - Amy McCarthy

I’ve lived in Houston area for 25 years.. how have I never heard of this place. Well I’m glad I finally made it here. You take the Independence Parkway to the very end right by the Lynchberg Ferry landing. The restaurant is upstairs and has great views of the ship traffic coming in and out. The inside is very clean and decorated nice. Grab a booth by a window if you can. Our waitress was wonderful she was very attentive and offered help with the menu with it being our first visit. I ordered the redfish and my wife got the stuffed shrimp. We got salads with ranch and cinnamon rolls and bread too. Everything was good my wife really enjoyed hers, my redfish was a little dry but tasted good. The bread and rolls were hot out of the oven. We really enjoyed sitting a little while and watching the ships pass in and out of the channel. The dining room was not packed but very busy with a constant flow of new customers. It seems they could handle pretty large groups as we saw them setting up a few 14-20 top tables. All in all this was a great find and we would love to come back, maybe even bringing some family with us.

Google
First time at the Monument Inn. I was not a fan of the breading on the fried shrimp. Personal preference...shrimp were good. Service was amazing even with the trainee in tow. Calamari breading was more to my liking. Bread a cinnamon rolls were included and outstanding. Scenery outside of the ship channel and San Jacinto Monument Park was delightful.

My first visit to the Monument Inn in more than 15 years was a pleasant surprise. You never know what the passage of time will do to the quality and the ambience of a restaurant like this. However, I was not disappointed. First, the drive up to the Monument Inn, you pass through a very historic park, honoring the history of Texas. Then as you approach the restaurant, you can’t help but notice it’s right on the water as Ship traffic passes back-and-forth. Now you’re in a great mood for a good meal. Patrons are directed upstairs, where the many are provided a wonderful view of the water. From there it’s pure goodness. The appetizers with stuffed crab, shrimp, oysters, alligator and more were delicious. The famous cinnamon rolls seem to have grown larger over time , but just as delicious. The main entrée was again a whole assortment of essentially fried seafood was hot fresh and delicious. The service was impeccable. I can’t say a negative thing about the entire experience.

Google
I usually get my food to go but today decided to eat here. The salmon is cooked just like I like, medium. Not dried out, not too raw. The steamed vegetables are very good too. And the rolls and cinnamon roll, whew. To start off i had a lemon drop martini that was veeerrry good! Waiter is attentive and pleasant. Got my order right!

Google
We were extremely pleased with the Monument Inn! A bustling, friendly & welcoming establishment considering it is in a public park! The service was fantastic and our server was very attentive and charming. The food was great all the way around! Not one bad item of the many that we ordered!! You also won’t find better food at this price! Highly recommended!! 👍

Google
Great family atmosphere and delicious food. The seafood platter is my favorite along with the stuffed jalapeños for an appetizer. The service and hospitality is always great. They make you want to keep coming back, which I will. Just celebrated my wife's birthday here....love this place!!!

Google
This place is so GOOD! Their buffet also so delicious. Every time they come back to refill your plate food comes back fresh. And omg their complimentary honeybun rolls are mouthwatering hot & fresh. If you ever in the area you have to stop by. Their water view is beautiful

Google
Great experience at Monument Inn! Oran was a fantastic server. My husband loved the all-you-can-eat seafood, and my fried fish platter was delicious. Beautiful views and great service — highly recommended!

Yelp
This is our go-to for family occasions and just for treating ourselves, sometimes. The service is always very good, and the ambiance is pleasant. The boat watching is great too! I've never eaten anything from The Monument Inn, that wasn't delicious, and that's real talk. Just wait until they bring the rolls! What a treat to have delicious cinnamon rolls too. Thanks for years of fun. You never let us down.

Yelp
Location is right next to the lake & the inside reflects where the business is. I like the simple decor & good customer service. Family is a seafood fan so we all got the All You Can Eat deal. We only ordered many dozens of raw oysters, only 1 portion of fried shrimps & fried oysters. Their fried oysters were well cooked meaning it's not overcooked & you can the plumpness of the oysters. There bread is delicious especially their cinnamon bread. It's lightly sweet, soft & tender when it's still hot. Like eating a light dessert. We came here several times already when we are in Houston.

Yelp
08.01.25 had dinner here tonight. dont be confused this is a restaurant and not a hotel/motel, as the name sounds. parking is very tight and crowded. whatever engineer didnt plan, nor designed the parking lot correctly. keep in mind that when i got there the parking lot was full. when entering the building it is very confusing, for the main first floor is for private parties only, which several were all occurring at the same time. once i found out that the main restaurant is located on the 2nd floor, i then found out no elevator, just a very narrow stairway with a handicap seat carrier lift type device on one of the stairway. which i had to wait for there were several seniors who could barely walk from the parking lot to the main doors, that had to slowly walk up the stairs, while one senior would use the handicap seat carrier lift type device up, and that was slow as well. once i finally made it up to the 2nd floor, i noticed all the waitstaff were wearing t-shirts and guest kids running around the place, yelling and screaming, and playing. when finally sat at my table, i noticed all the seats in the place were hard wood seats, not very comfortable at all. once the waiteress came by and asked what we wanted to drink, my friend asked for ice water with lemon, and i asked for ice water and sweet tea, the waitress looked right at me with no facial expression and said 'WE DONT HAVE SWEET TEA', and i responded, ok can i have a plain unsweet tea then, she didnt answered, and just said she would be right back. for an appetizer, we got shrimp cocktail, first upset, the served it in a glass with lettuce in the glass(weird, never had a seafood place serve it this way before), second upset, all the shrimp were not deveined, the shrimp shit was actually in plain view, third upset, no cocktail sauce, had to ask the waitress to bring some, she tried to explain that its not her fault, someone in the kitchen didnt prepare it correctly, and left and brought back the cocktail sauce. i ordered the grilled mahi mahi with a baked potato, my friend ordered the shrimp jamboree with onion rings. my friend had to ask for tarter sauce because they forgot to bring that with the meal as well. both entrees came with a salad, i had thousand island and my friend had ranch. so the entrees wasnt served all at the same time, it was served staggered. i got my mahi mahi first, and my friend got the shrimp cocktail portion of the entree first which wasnt shelled nor deveined, this time they remembered the cocktail sauce. five to ten minutes later or so, we got our salads, then10 to fifteen minutes after we received our salads, my friend got the rest of the entree, with the onion rings and then we got served the bread, which came with only two rolls.it wasnt till the end of the meal, that i finally got my baked potato i ordered. on the way out, that was a wait again, for there were a lot of people and seniors slowly walking up the narrow stairs again, before everyone leaving could go down the narrow stairs, this should be a fire hazard.

Yelp
Excellent dining experience! Our meal was delicious! Our server was so sweet and gracious. Our table next to the window was wonderful with a fabulous view! Highly recommend when in the area.

Yelp
Remains a good restaurant. Has been for years and they still get it done. If you want seafood in the area that is a good choice. Watch the ship channel traffic and have dinner. Prices average.

Yelp
8 YEARS since I was here?? OMG.....Nothing has changed, Excellent Service. Three diners and one slice of green fried tomato left. Server Brian cut to the chase; "Whose is it gonna be?" FINALLY a great service! Food came out fast and delicious. Monument Red Fish, blackened, YUM! Window booth provides the best meeting venue you'll find along the Ship channel.

Yelp
First time to try the infamous Monument Inn for a classic seafood experience and tried the Fisherman's Platter. It was... solidly average. Nothing bad, but nothing that really stood out either. The roll was a nice touch, and the cinnamon roll was good--but after all the hype, I was expecting more. Service was fine, and the view is a nice bonus, in theory... but it was dark and I wasn't near the windows I really couldn't see much. Overall, it didn't quite live up to expectations. Might give it another shot, but I'd probably try something different next time.

Yelp
Monument Inn's appearance on Chris Shepherd's Eat Like a Local encouraged us to check it out recently. From the interview with the owner, I could almost taste the experience! It sure felt like we were taking a road trip out there. With the ferry closed, we took 225 out to somewhere in the land of refineries and headed north through more refineries. Eventually, we made to to the San Jacinto Monument and -- at the end of the road -- the Monument Inn. From the inner loop, I'm not sure it was much shorter than a ride to Galveston. The menu is guilty pleasures and they do deliver. We started with the Fried Cheese, then moved on to the dinner and cinnamon rolls. Fried Seafood meals come with a salad, the seafood, and your choice of a side. The rolls stole the show. The cinnamon rolls were really unique -- these were not the breakfast variety, rather, they were more like a dinner roll dosed heavily with cinnamon and sugar. The dinner rolls were good as well. As for the fried food, it was good, but wasn't the "melt in your mouth" goodness that I was hoping for. It would also be nice to see the the dinners come with two sides, and drop the salad. This may be an option, I just didn't ask, but in this setting it was odd to pick between coleslaw and fries when both are such critical companions to fried treats. If we are back in the area to see the San Jacinto Monument, we'll definitely be back. Would we drive from Montrose again just for Monument Inn? Admittedly, probably not.

Yelp
I came here because my husband, who has Alzheimer's, wanted to see ships and this restaurant is on the Houston shipping lane. It is also advertised as wheelchair accessible; therefore, that sealed the deal. Bill is unable to walk. When we got here I saw the restaurant was on the 2nd floor and there was no elevator in sight. There was a broken down "chair-rail" elevator, but even if it was fixed, that would not work for my 240 Lb husband. I left my husband in the foyer and went upstairs to ask for help. It took me a bit to grab a staff member. (In all fairness this was a full restaurant when I got there, so I'm not surprised it took a while, however, it was a bit disconcerting that I had to flag someone down to help me.) I was told to wait in the downstairs foyer and someone would be getting me to take us up in the freight elevator. It took about 5 minutes for them to arrive. The freight elevator was an experience I do not want to repeat! We were wheeled through the worst part of the kitchen area on carpet that was thrown helter-skelter over dips and bumps and water and food. The server that helped us, John, was as helpful as he could be and helped me lug my husband over 2-3" high bumps, that I couldn't have navigated without him. Eventually we arrived into the restaurant itself and it was beautiful. The view was fabulous. The food was delicious, and our server, Jonae, was excellent. I ordered the combination platter (Stuffed crab, stuffed shrimp, and shrimp), onion rings, and salad. Bill ordered grilled shrimp, ff, and coleslaw. We were served rolls as soon as we got there - big yummy sweet rolls as well as dinner rolls. My husband was so happy watching the ships going by and he loved his meal. The food and servers made it an enjoyable experience. So, it was mostly a success. When my husband needed to go to the bathroom, however, we met another stumbling block. I could not get him in. The doors and stalls are too small for wheelchairs. For him, rails are essential as he cannot get up on his own or walk. So no bathroom, which made an uncomfortable ride home to the VA Memory Care in Pearland. Bottom LINE: I heartily recommend the restaurant unless you are in a wheelchair. Great food, excellent servers, and a beautiful view! NOTE: I suggest to the owners that they take off the "wheelchair accessible from their advertising." This is not actually wheelchair accessible. That is why only 4 stars.

Yelp
I wanted to try out something nearby but also on the water. The Monument Inn was suggested and I'm so glad we went. The service was stellar, the food was amazing, and the restaurant felt like you were sitting in Galveston. We will be going back in the near future. There's a park and museum nearby if you want to walk after eating.

Yelp
It's just a good family & friends environment. Here's a hidden gem in the Houston Ship Chanel for your next large gathering. This lively eatery is in the historic battleground or monument park now manicured and ready for your next family photo op. The establishment literally sits right off the water (don't fall in) affording you access to sunset views. And there is not much around this sparse part of H town. Plenty of parking for large groups. The entire restaurant is on the top floor of the building (the family style banquet hall is on the first level). The stairs are deep & quite steep but there is an ADA chair lift. This was my third visit to the Monument Inn, but first to their downstairs multipurpose room. The dinners come with an unassuming pale basket of yeasted cinnamon raisin bread with butter. Don't pass them by. The seafood platter is burgeoning, fresh and delicious. The salads were nice and the dessert held their own. Impressed how well they served our little group of 100 people! However, this is not white gloved glory nor River Oaks so expect a little less seamless experience. You'll enjoy every bite. Nonetheless glad to have been there this evening and see things moving forward with a cheerful upbeat coastal renovation. My only hesitation is the lack of elevator for the first floor. Otherwise a marvelous gem with your family and friends.

Yelp
Gorgeous views next to the ferry, second floor with its own parking lot (you can pass the folks waiting for the ferry), friendly and prompt service, delicious freshly made seafood. My mom and I split the fisherman's platter - catfish, stuffed crab, stuffed shrimp, fried shrimp, plus vegetables, salad, dinner roll, and cinnamon roll (!) - delicious and huge portion... and we also ordered the blackened catfish sandwich with fries, which we took completely home (and happily so)! There is a $2 split charge, additional charge for onion rings but they looked delicious too, my fave was the catfish but everything was really well done, would def return

Yelp
We had an amazing experience. Hospitality is on point. From the time we were greeted at the door to the friendly service from Kelsey we were loving it. The Fried Calamari, Fried Shrimp and Onion Rings were all amazing!!! The portions are huge! The fried shrimp was crispy and delicious. We have been here a few times but will be back! We drive all the way from Katy but we can't wait to get back each time! Thank you Kelsey for the warm and friendly service.

Yelp
Love this place, we celebrated Mom's birthday and Joey our server provided excellent service. Food came out hot and fresh. Everything was delicious and we were happy with everything.

Yelp
I don't like seafood, but the chicken alfredo with blackened chicken is gonna hit every single time! lol This place is nice, it has booths next to large windows where you can stare out to the water and see boats pass by frequently. Our waitress was nice and the staff here is usually pretty good. The food comes out in an adequate time, and is so tasty! They give you some cinnamon rolls which are a bit bland but not bad. Their fried cheese is just okay as well, but the pasta here is soooo goood! This is a nice place to check out!

Yelp
I really like Monument Inn! However, when something that is a big no-no in the restaurant industry happens, it is a cause for concern. I'll explain further down. The food is excellent. They are known for all you can eat, which is a bit pricey, but it will sure satisfy your seafood cravings. The usual apps ranging from shrimp cocktail, oysters on the halfshell, and gumbo are all here. We opted to get right into dinner. I had my eyes on the blackened mahi mahi with Pontchartrain sauce the entire time, so I went with that. It came with a generous portion of rice-pilaf. My wife had the seafood platter, which consisted of fried shrimp and double fried oysters. Our daughter had the cobb salad, which was literally big enough to feed 4! Our two dinners came with dinner salads, which were really basic and lacking ingredients. In the past, they actually came with croutons, cheese, and bacon. Guess rising costs happened. Now on to a hot topic in the industry. I do believe in tipping, and it is based on the service you receive. What I don't appreciate is my tip being changed by someone there at the restaurant. It is credit card FRAUD. I am only referring to a dollar discrepancy. However, it is not the amount that I wrote in and signed for. I also don't need a preprinted tip guide! And also tipping is based on the food subtotal and not taxes included. I hope management or ownership reach out and discuss this with me. I will return in the future for the food only and only pay cash next time.

Raizor M.

Yelp
I don't give 5 stars unless I eat at a resturant several times. I have ate Monument Inn 5 times now. The food is always amazing. It is fresh seafood and presented so nice. It has been a different waiter each time but they are all excellent. As you can see from the pictures the portions are generous. And you get to see different ships go by.

Eva F.

Yelp
The food was okay but when we got ready to leave I tipped the young girl there at the table then when I checked my account I noticed that they took her tip and added to my credit card I waiting for them to open so they can credit that back to me so be sure and check your receipt

Yelp
Good food, great service & the view is very nice. Nice change of pace & relaxing atmosphere too ok enjoy good food w/friends & family.

Karen O.

Yelp
first of all: do not let the building fool you. Yes it does look like a strip joint because there are no windows on 3 sides of the building. the first floor is reserved for meetings and conferences and large parties we were there on Saturday and the place was very busy. we sat at the small bar area and looked out at the Ship Channel while we waiting for our table. the bar is small but not cramped and the view is really cool we waited about 15 minutes for our table the place was packed with large birthday parties but the noise was not overpowering. we decided not to order appetizers. Our waiter ( don't remember his name) was very knowledgeable about the menu. We were waiting on very prompting. The roll and cinnamon roll was large enough to share for 2 people. My dining partner had the Linguine Baton Rouge and I had blackened Mahi Mahi with a baked potato. Our waiter was very attentive without being pushy. the Linguine Baton Rouge came in a big bowl and my dining partner said it was incredible. My fish was cooked to perfection we will return
google avatar

K G.

Yelp
Service was fantastic! Got the LINGUINI BATON ROUGE - (crawfish, andouille sausage, mushrooms, onions in a marinara cream sauce topped with grilled shrimp) which was SO good and one of my most favorite things to get there. Kiddo had the COMBINATION PLATTER with oysters, catfish, stuffed crab, French fries, and a salad. We also sampled the SHRIMP, CHICKEN & SAUSAGE GUMBO. Very flavorful and the roux a beautiful color. The rolls and cinnamon rolls were yummy as usual. And let me tell you, the place was busy yet the service was attentive, the wait time for food was extremely reasonable, and the food delivered piping hot! We were starving so no photos this go around!

Yelp
Great food, nice service and the nice view of the The Houston Ship Channel waterway that connects the Port of Houston to the Gulf of Mexico

Yelp
We spent the morning at the San Jacinto Battleground & decided to have lunch here. It was fairly crowded but we were seated immediately in a booth with a view of the channel, which was great. Server was good, no complaints. Food: They brought out a basket of cinnamon rolls & plain rolls. My husband ate one of the cinnamon rolls & said, "It ain't good but it ain't bad either." He did say he thought Pillsbury was better. I tried one bite of the regular rolls & did not like it at all. Texture was grainy, doughy & not a good flavor. I ordered the Linguini Baton Rouge, minus onions, & my husband ordered the Fried Catfish & fries. First, the salad was so plain. Literally just iceberg lettuce, 3 slices of cucumber, & 2 grape tomatoes. It felt like an afterthought. My Linguini was very good though! My husband said the catfish was just ok. My opinion: 3 stars for the food, 4 stars for the view, location, building. My husband's opinion: 2 stars for the food, 4 stars for the view, location, building.

Tiffany P.

Yelp
The restaurant was completely packed and there was a 30 minute wait but was seated after only 15 minutes. The service was excellent, the food was served quickly and straight out of the pan. The seafood was fresh but the only issue was the total lack of seasoning. Even if they would have just shook a dash of salt and pepper I would have given at least a 4 star review but unfortunately it was terribly bland.

Pavithra G.

Yelp
The food was great and staff very accommodating. I would go again and again when in the area. One the best seafood places I have been to... thank you for your awesome service
google avatar

Benjamin K.

Yelp
Out and about with the men's group from church and somehow we ended up here. Since I've been told this place is known for their seafood I ordered the fish n chips. It was good, not great and the pieces of fish they give you are pretty small. The fries or "chips" they come with are pretty average tasting. The cool thing about this place is you can look out the windows and see ginormous oil tankers passing by on their way to the ship channel. It was fun to watch, sorry I was so into the ships passing by I forgot to take pictures of them.

Yelp
Stopped by for dinner on 9/22. This was our second visit since May 2024. My wife had the grilled or fried scallops and I had the crawfish etouffee. Both meals were not up to the standards we had come to expect from this restaurant. The scallops were mealy with what looked like some kind of breading versus a nice grill crust. My etouffee lacked the appearance or substance of an etouffee from a good cajun restaurant. Service was great and the atmosphere was also great but our meals were disappointing. I don't believe we will be going out of our way to return to this restaurant any time soon.

Bunny K.

Yelp
My brother-in-law's retirement dinner we had at the monument Inn. The food was wonderful. We reserved a whole room. They took very good care of us. We ever have another function. I will definitely go to the monument. I was very pleased.

Pete O.

Yelp
Despite the Opening Hours posted on its website this very good restaurant with panoramic views was not open on Monday lunchtime a week ago. This was additionally infuriating as I had talked the place up and driven friends from UK an hour to get there. Saddened.

Elids W.

Yelp
Bland food, Hard seats, unfriendly non smiling waitress, I have never been to a restaurant that I wanted to get up and leave until I came here. I didn't because I invited a friend and it was a drive. This place has edible food. No spice at all. After $87.00 including tip, I feel like it was a waste of time and money. Popeyes has more flavor. Don't waste your money.
google avatar

Toni D.

Yelp
We return to this place to celebrate my husband's birthday every year. Well-prepared food, lovely friendly staff. We are retired, so we usually go around noon midweek. Great calm ambiance.
google avatar

Yelp
The inn!!! This restaurant quite frankly lives up to its name, located right next to the San Jacinto Monument. The views here are actually truly impressive. You are right on the water with a full view of all of the ships and barges coming in and out of port. This is definitely the go to restaurant in the area. Home of some good southern/cajun seafood dishes. Definitely got a whole fried platter as an appetizer, good breading. I got a salmon plate but my peers got the shrimp po boy. That sandwich was STACKED. I mean portions were huuuge. They said it was great! This is a solid spot, great for visits!
google avatar

Mac W.

Yelp
Food is always good and fresh. The rolls are one of a kind. Been coming here for years will continue coming. The service is always good. Nice view of the water good to see the boats coming and going.
google avatar

Layla E.

Yelp
Great views and service. The cinnamon' rolls are amazing. If you have food allergies you need to Stick to the grilled items. The seafood was dry and over cooked. The crab cakes were disappointing they were dry and appended to contain both real and imitation crab meat. The veggies were over cooked and the rice pilaf was cold.

Yelp
Went to the Monument Inn. It had been decades since the last time. Still looks the same. Had the boiled shrimp and oysters as appetizers. One received one slice of a lemon with each, had to request more lemons. The food is still excellent, although servings seemed smaller than I remember. Service was good. Families still find their way to this hidden gem by the San Jacinto Monument. Prices are much higher than back in the day, prob a sign of the times. Atmosphere is still positive mainly locals. Highly recommend this place. We use to get their buffet, but it's almost $50 per person. I ordered the grilled red fish with monumental sauce and veggies. My wife ordered the Salmon with veggies. I asked if they still offered rolls. They brought us a couple of cinnamon rolls and I ordered two coffees in the end. Rolls are much smaller and we had to request them. They no longer ask if you'd like rolls. All in all, it was $103 for two people.

Sue E.

Yelp
Good service Great food. Must try stuffed jalapeños And ponchartrain fish. Great sweet rolls too! Can't go wrong with whatever you order.
google avatar

LaMecia M.

Yelp
We visited here after searching for a new place that sold stuffed shrimp. We found this to be almost half the price of the alternative and significantly more food. We couldn't eat it all in one sitting and have plenty leftover. I had a combo platter with oysters, shrimp, catfish and stuffed crab. I subbed my fries for onion rings-nothing disappointed. I was worrief about seasoning but it was pretty bland-great for me because I am on a low sodium diet. Our meals came with a salad and the dinner and cinnamon rolls. The dinner rolls weren't the best and the cinnamon rolls had raisins so we didn't eat all of that-nor did we take them home. Definitely plan to return. I've already shared it with someone else I think would enjoy it. Also we went at night and it was cool to see the ferry go across the water. I'm sure in the daylight there would be lots of things to watch. Our server was nice and friendly and our food came out quickly even with some other large parties ahead of us.

Yelp
This is a must stop and see. The views, the food and the waitstaff are a treat for the soul. Joy was spectacular and well, such a joy to interact with. She made some wonderful recommendations for a great meal. I took her advice and ordered the mahi with the monument sauce which has shrimp and oysters in it. Totally awesome! I will be back, till then, stop in, ask for Joy and let her know Tommy sent you.

Yelp
These 5 stars all go to our waitress... Shout out to Selah (i think that was her name)... she was *on her game* and it was a busy Saturday night!! I haven't had perfect service in a looong time but she was FLAWLESS from start to finish! Thank you for being so good and contributing to our great first-time (mine) experience there!!!

Bryan W.

Yelp
Had the baked stuffed shrimp with pontchartrain sauce & rice pilaf. Better than I hoped for. Such an excellent meal. Will definitely be back with family or friends.
google avatar

Tom C.

Yelp
We had an incredible meal here. It's so relaxing watching the ships go by. I highly recommend this place. Service was excellent and food was incredible. Everything was perfectly done. 5 stars for Monument Inn. House salad was great. Cup of gumbo (next time I'll get a bowl or two) was some of the best I've ever had. The homemade dinner rolls and cinnamon rolls were a nice touch and truly addictive. And then came our main course.... grilled Mahi Mahi with Ponchartrain sauce (creamy white wine sauce with shrimp, crab, and mushrooms) was a taste of Heaven. Their famous pan-fried shrimp were perfectly done fresh with light breading. You have to try it. No one had room for dessert. There are so many other tempting items on the menu. Can't wait to go back and try more.

Yelp
I had to make a run to Pasadena recently with my wife; I had not been there in years. I had seen a video from Dave Saracha on YouTube where he went to Monument Inn. He had the all-you-can-eat, and it looked pretty good. My wife was agreeable, so we made the short drive over. I had the all-you-can-eat, and my wife had some salmon. I was too full to order a second time; it was so much food. They brought oysters on the half-shell, cold-boiled shrimp, cinnamon rolls, fried catfish, fried oysters, fried shrimp, stuffed crab, and french fries. Everything was delicious and fresh, and since I did not ask for any re-orders, they let me take everything leftover home, which was more than enough for dinner the next day. Service was excellent, very friendly and attentive. The only food item that was meh was the stuffed crab. Everything else was so good. I was most impressed by the freshness and quality of the seafood. We live aways away, so we won't come back often, but if I were in the area, I would definitely go again.

Yelp
My brother had been raving about this place, so I was excited to try it, since I love seafood. We arrived on Saturday evening at 6:45p and the place was packed!! We had a large party of 18 so the wait was an hour before we were seated. Once seated the waitress got all our drink orders and brought out fresh rolls and cinnamon rolls. I ordered the fisherman's platter and it did not disappoint. The fried shrimp was my favorite. If the restaurant was closer I would definitely be back.

Yelp
Food was really good! They give you huge portions and it has nice views of the water with the vessels going by

Yelp
The gumbo had good color and consistency but lacked flavor and seafood. It almost reminded me of brown gravy. (I'm a self professed gumbo aficionado and always looking for the best bowl, and, admittedly, most don't make the cut). The fried shrimp and oysters were OK but I've had better. My wife had baked stuffed shrimp which looked like a soggy mess. She ate half, took the rest home, then tossed it out after a day or two in the fridge...The service was good except our waitress charged me for pick 3 after telling me I could order half shrimp/half oysters for the price of large fried shrimp. It was only $3 so I did not make it an issue. The ambiance is good for watching the ferry and tug boats go by... We drove over for nostalgia reasons and that urge has now been satisfied.

Yelp
the view is nice, the restaurant is clean and our server Josh was fantastic. the catfish is good but doesn't taste like it's chef made. everything came from a box like they bought it from Sysco so nothing chef made here except maybe the salad. disappointing. Stuffed shrimp and crab not impressed as it was dry and the previous photos from the restaurant must be ten years old because our food did not look savory. Wish I had gone to long John silvers instead or somewhere else. Location is unique that all that was good. price For an old fashion only 6 dollars and that was a great drink and reasonable price.

Yelp
Always love coming here and tonight was no exception. Jose waited on us and was just amazing. He was very busy, but handled everything with perfection. The food was to die for. Everything from the rolls & cinnamon rolls to the salad and of course fresh seafood. The fried shrimp was amazing. The tartar sauce was great. And the loaded baked potato was divine too. We watched huge ships pass by, almost outside our window. We watched dolphins playing too. Then, the full moon came up over the horizon and stunned everyone. What an incredible evening, meal with the best service ever. Thank you Jose and Monument Inn!!!
