15 Essential Korean Restaurants to Try in Orange County

"The popular K-town soondae outpost expanded to OC with a location inside H Mart in Irvine. Its grew locally, which led to another expansion to Irvine Plaza on Barranca Parkway. The beef short rib soup and the beef back rib soup with glass noodles are the more approachable bowls for first timers but diners-in-the-know come for the soondae, Korean pork blood sausage. It’s served sliced or simmered in soup, which can also be ordered spicy. The soondae sampler is another option to share with the table." - Jenn Tanaka

Google
I was in Irvine for work, looked for the nearest restaurant and ended up ordering a takeout combo of grilled beef small intestine & beef omasum And it was mind-blowing! The omasum and beef intestines were so chewy, dipping it in their sweet-and-sour sauce was just divine!! And their soondae (Korean blood sausage) — I have no idea what secret recipe they use, but I swear it’s better than many I’ve had before. Soft and sticky in a good way, but not gummy, with an authentic pork blood flavor. Trust me this restaurant is totally worth it trying ☺️

They served very delicious food as and the service is wonderful. The staff were so friendly and warm. We will definitely come back soon.

Moobongri in Irvine is a great spot for fresh and flavorful Korean seafood! I tried their steamed seafood, and it was packed with a delicious mix of shellfish, squid, and other ocean delights, all cooked to perfection. The natural sweetness of the seafood really stood out, and the dipping sauces added a nice kick. The banchan was fresh and plentiful, and the staff was friendly and attentive. If you're a seafood lover looking for an authentic Korean experience, this place is definitely worth a visit!

Google
If you're a seafood lover, Moobongri Irvine is a must-try! The steamed seafood platter was incredibly fresh, featuring abalone, octopus, clams, lobster, and shrimp—all cooked to perfection. The flavors were rich yet natural, allowing the seafood's sweetness to shine. The presentation was also impressive, with ingredients beautifully arranged in a wooden steamer. The addition of bok choy and mushrooms complemented the seafood well. Highly recommend this spot for an authentic and delicious seafood feast! Will definitely be coming back. 🦞🦪🔥

Google
The spicy soondae soup wasn’t too strong or salty. The soondae plate tasted similar to the one from Koreatown, and the fried dumplings were nice and crispy.

SUNGSOON HWANG

Google
It’s so delicious, especially the gopchang set—it’s incredibly tasty! The seafood pancake is also amazing. You should definitely try it!

Google
There are several Korean restaurants in Irvine that serve Soondaeguk, but I like Soondaeguk served at Moobongri Soondae the best! 👍 I like the basic taste of the soup, so I usually eat Sundaeguk without adding salt or pepper. The taste of Soondaeguk broth at Moobongri Soondae is really rich. It also has a lot of Soondae and meat in it, so I’m satisfied after eating a bowl of Soondaeguk. If you want to have Soondaeguk in Irvine, I highly recommend Moobongri Soondae.

If you're in the mood for some delicious traditional Korean food, this is a lovely spot to check out! They even offer live octopus on the menu for the adventurous eaters. Enjoy your visit!

Yelp
Moobongri Soondae is my go-to whenever I'm craving something hearty and authentic. The flavors here are legit -- it feels like a hidden gem straight out of Seoul, tucked right in the heart of OC. I usually get the Soondae Guk (blood sausage soup) and it never disappoints. The broth is rich, clean, and deeply savory, perfect for a cold day or when you just want something that feels like a hug in a bowl. The portion is generous and comes with a variety of meats and soondae -- and yes, it's the real deal.

Suyeon K.

Yelp
Fantastic food for my health. The rich, milky broth was flavorful without any unpleasant smell, offering a deep, comforting taste that lingered pleasantly.

Yelp
Good service good food, I really like the taste as it is more like the one I had in Korea.

Yelp
I ordered the intestine combo at Moobongri and was blown away. Everything was incredibly fresh--no funky smell, just that rich, savory flavor you want from well-prepped offals. Each piece was perfectly grilled, tender on the inside with just the right amount of crisp on the edges. You can tell they take pride in their quality here. What really took the meal to the next level were the banchan (side dishes)--they were so good! Flavorful, well-seasoned, and plentiful. From crunchy kimchi to the marinated radishes, everything complemented the main dish beautifully. If you're into Korean BBQ and looking to try something a little different but seriously delicious, this intestine combo is a must. Will definitely be back!

Yelp
I got the pork belly soup and split the chal soondae plate with a friend. The portion size was large and it felt enough for two servings. There is also a lot of meat in the soup. The broth was lighter and not as fatty as other soondaeguks I have had. I personally would have preferred it to be slightly more fatty, but if you prefer more watery broths, you may like this. The soondae was also thinner and smaller than other soondaes I have tried. The amount was definitely plenty for two people. I really enjoyed the taste of the kimchi ban chans. The kimchi is on the saltier side which I prefer. The place was slightly busy at night and had to wait around 10 minutes. It can also get slightly loud. Other than that, the service was quick.

Yelp
I can't believe that this place missed our radar until now! It is now my number one pick for authentic Korean food. The soups here are made with quality ingredients, flavorful, and served in plentiful portions. The meat in the galbi tang is cooked to perfection, tender and falling off the bone. The servers are kind and attentive. The restaurant is small but pleasant and homey. We loved our experience here and will definitely be back!

Yelp
Authentic Korean eatery that specializes in Soondae. The first thing I noticed upon entering was that most of the customers were Korean. It's a small and relatively clean shop. Came on a Saturday around 8:30 PM. Most tables were filled, but we were seated immediately. Our dishes came pretty quickly and all requests were fulfilled promptly despite only 2 staff waiting tables. The staff speak Korean and English. Standard complimentary unlimited sides. I especially liked the Napa kimchi. They provide ice cold water but if you ask for warm water, they will give you warm barley tea, which I personally enjoyed. Our party of four ordered soondae soup, beef short rib soup (aka galbi tang), beef soup, seafood pancake, and short rib bbq. Prices are pretty standard but portion sizes were a bit smaller. They couldn't find the bbq short ribs on the menu as a stand alone item, but allowed us to order it anyway. I enjoyed my soondae soup. The broth was milky and there was a decent portion of meat (mostly blood sausage and innards). However, some pieces of soondae tasted overcooked. Tip: for these types of soups, you add salty and pepper to taste. I just kept adding kimchi till it was to my desired salt level. My friends liked everything else, but one felt like the pancake was on the dry side. Plenty of parking in the lot.

Yelp
Great comfort food that always hits the spot. Moobongri is one of those reliable places I come back to when I want something deeply flavorful and satisfying. The spicy short rib with veggies soup is the star of the show: rich, hearty broth with a deep peppery kick, tender chunks of beef short rib, and a generous amount of both vegetables and ribs that soak up all the spice and flavor. It's the kind of soup that warms you from the inside out, was just what I needed after a week of traveling. Their kimchi is top notch, perfectly fermented with a bold, tangy crunch that complements the richness of the stew. You can tell it's house-made with care, and it really elevates the whole meal. The portions are generous with a lot of meat in the soups. Service is quick and efficient and the atmosphere is casual and cozy, which is ideal for a solo comfort meal or a laid-back dinner with friends.

Yelp
Moonbongri is one of my longtime favorites -- I've been a fan of this restaurant brand since living in Ktown (RIP Moobongri BBQ), and I'm so glad to have this location nearby. My wife and I came here for a Friday date night and decided to switch it up from our usual soondaeguk and try the gopchang and makchang instead. It was really good! The banchan was also great (we even asked for a refill), and we got the haemul pajeon as well, which was crispy, flavorful, and perfectly done. Service was great -- attentive but not overbearing -- and the quality of the food really stands out every time we visit. The restaurant is on the smaller side, but they can still accommodate larger groups. Plus, parking is super easy with plenty of spaces available. If it's your first time, definitely try the soondaeguk or dwejigukbap -- it's what they're known for and they do it really well. But if you're in the mood for something different, the gopchang is a solid pick. Can't recommend this place enough!

Yelp
I was craving soondae and intestine bbq, so I had to hit up Moobongri which serve both. This was a very satisfying meal which hit spot perfectly. Small intestines and large intestines: (4/5) Medium comes with only two choices (the only bummer). It is a good portion for two people. I love that the small intestines come in long pieces which keep the stuff inside. Large intestines are very savory but can be a bit too fatty. A bit on the expensive side, but both are very good quality. Soondae soup: (5/5) The soup itself was thick and flavorful, and it had generous amounts of soondae and other innards. Not a lot of side dishes, but I really loved their radish kimchi. Came for Saturday night, but there was no wait and had easy parking. I am adding this place to my "will come back list" for their soondae soup.

Yelp
TL;DR - best korean steamed dumplings i've had!! must get FOOD: *spicy pork belly soup - soo good! broth was flavorful and they make sure to put a good amount of meat in there. everything with the rice it comes with and the side dishes (banchan) was perfection. really hits the spot if you're craving korean soup! 5/5 *steamed dumplings - genuinely blew my mind- not sure if it's because i haven't had good steamed dumplings in awhile but these were sooo yummy. the dumpling skin was done perfectly and had a good amount of filling. would come back here just for these. 5/5 SERVICE: all the servers were so kind and efficient! never had to flag them down for much. 5/5 PRICE: the soup was around $20 and the dumplings i don't remember but pretty fair for the quality and amount of food you get. 5/5

Yelp
Amazing food and great service! The dishes were flavorful and fresh, especially the BBQ and kimchi side dishes. The staff was super friendly and attentive, and the restaurant had a clean and cozy ambiance. Will definitely come back again with friends. Highly recommend!

Yelp
Amazing food from Korea! Kind person! Yummy food! Especially, Doeji Gookbab is great.

Yelp
Best galbitang in irvine! Friendly and fast service! The kimchi and other sides are very yummy and high quality. They are open pretty late which is nice. The soup is very comforting and flavorful, and pairs very well with the sides. In my experience there isn't a long wait, but it can get pretty busy mid day. It is clean and spacious, and good music playing.

Yelp
We got the pork belly soup and the beef tendon plate. I thought the pork belly soup was ok tasting, it did not satisfy me as much as other Korean soup places in the area. I felt there was a lack of flavor even after adding a good amount of salt and pepper. The beef tendon plate was great though, first time getting a whole plate of it and I didn't get tired of eating it! Usually I would only get a few pieces that come in a soup, so it was honestly nice to have so much. The tendons were soft with just a bit of a bite.

Yelp
My boyfriend was feeling a bit sick so we were looking for a comforting, hot soup place and we came across Moobongri. They have good options for soondae soups and intestine! Located in a small plaza with limited parking. Ambience (9/10): We went there for lunch on a Saturday night and we were the only few customer. I would not complain as the wait time for most place in Irvine can be annoying lol. Most of the customers here are Korean so it seems to be a legit place. The place itself is clean and has a cozy vibe. Food: Banchan (9/10): Though the banchan is simple, it is very fresh and yummy. I would go back just for the banchan. Soondae soup (7/10): The soup itself is thick and comforting, especially when you are sick. The soondae has good chewy texture and they gave a good amount. However, we both think it is pretty bland. We both agree that this is a good place to visit when we crave something very hot or comforting but it is not something that we usually crave. I would come back and try other dish though!

Olivia S.

Yelp
All time fav korean place in Irvine. I usually get a spicy soondae soup here but tried soondae jungol for the first time today and it was good! Service is great too :)
google avatar

Kyle N.

Yelp
Came here after seeing a post for the Cerritos location - so glad we came, especially since it's a lot closer! Everything was solid, from the quick service to the quaint space to the food! We both tried the spicy soondae soup which had a great kick and nuttiness after adding perilla seed powder. The soondae, meat, and liver was so tender and yummy. We also shared a beef tendon plate which was delicious with the sauce they provided. Their banchan here was also great (but on the saltier and sweeter side which is something I enjoy!) Can't wait to come back and try everything else. :)

Yujoo L.

Yelp
Great service and amazing good!! This is our to go place when it comes to intestine and gukbap. 10/10 highly recommend
google avatar

Emily L.

Yelp
Can be pricey ($20+) but the portions are pretty big! I tried the Spicy Soondae and was pleasantly surprised by the meaty flavor of the soup and the texture of the sausage. They give plenty of banchan options and the vibe is social with large booths.
google avatar

Audrey F.

Yelp
This spot has so many great options for food from stews to pancakes, mandu, and more plus plenty of seating. I tried their spicy pork ribs with cheese and loved the sweet, spicy sauce it came in plus how soft the meat was. Seafood pancake was perfectly crispy as well and had large chunks of squid in it. Dishes appear pricey but the portion sizes are generous. I would say the pork ribs by itself could feed 2 adults. Downside of this spot is that it's understaffed. Everyone was working really hard here and you could see how quickly they were cleaning, taking orders, bringing out food, etc. Because everyone was so busy, I had to grab menus from the cashier, walk up to the cashier to ask to order, and flag down a waiter for both the check and takeout boxes.
google avatar

Vicky C.

Yelp
A very unassuming place, but the food here is delicious, especially in the cold winter months when you're looking for something soupy (although they have a variety of tasty non-soup dishes as well). My go-to order is the Spicy Beef Short Rib Soup, the meat is so tender and the spiciness level packs just enough heat but is not overpowering. And the soup comes out piping hot temperature wise which I absolutely love and is so comforting on a cold day. The portions are pretty generous, and don't be afraid to take anything home. After putting the items in a to-go container, they shrink wrap the top of the container, so those dishes will remain fresh and sealed until you're ready to enjoy again!

Yelp
The Korean food doesn't stop on this page, folx. It's time for Moobongri in Irvine. This spot is located in a middle-of-the-road strip mall with some lowkey banger restaurants (so you should check them out too). Today, we're here for some rice, stew, and more! It's a small restaurant with chill cozy vibes. They're always putting someone fun on the soju sponsors too...what the~... Anyways, we ordered some fun stuff. I got the Soondaeguk, which is a blood sausage stew! Wowowow. That's right, I'm back to the weird stuff, and I love it. Tee-hee. It's a beef bone broth, filled with blood sausage and other parts of animal that you should try! I honestly have no idea what it is, but it's big yummy! Give it a try if you're feeling adventurous! I got the spicy pork bulgogi and rice! It's an easy no-brainer if you're looking for meaty spicy goodness! Something familiar, but still equally as tasty. It's sweet, savory, and spicy. 3 of my favorite spice girls! Right? Right~....? We also got some bossam to share! It's such a gorgeous presentation, and I can't recommend it enough! Bossam is usually boiled sliced pork belly that is meant to be wrapped up in some sort of leafy green and enjoyed with sauces, kimchi, and other add-ins. This was so tender and rich, yet fresh. Great balance on the pork and the steaming basket only makes it more tasty. Some people say you eat with your eyes first. I don't know bout you, but I'm chowing down starting with my retinas. Delish. Comforting Korean food to crave for sure. It's never about who's eaten, but rather who's hungry? At Moobongri!

Yelp
We drove 4 hours from AZ to try it out in HUNGRY stomach! Sadly this place was worst SERVICE and unorganized place. They were serving wrong tables with other table food and serving other tables prior to tables who been there. Others were just yelling across to get attention of waitress. Worst of all, they didn't even serve us water! even after all the food came out! Taste wise, it was nothing like OMG.... it has disappointed us again comparing to other Korean places in LA. Great place to come drink and get late night snacks. Try it out yall, everyone has diff taste
google avatar

Chenghui W.

Yelp
Moo Bong Ri is a pretty authentic korean restaurant serving all sorts of comforting soups and hotpot's to stir fried and steamed goods! what i ordered: * steamed bossam (s) * stir fry soondae (m) * spicy pork neck bone hotpot (m) their kimchi banchan is super good and portion size was great too
google avatar

Coco L.

Yelp
I tried large and small intestines with garlic. They are tasty but little small for tow people to eat.
google avatar

Ryan H.

Yelp
Solid spot to come for soup. One of my favorites! I usually get the Spicy Soondae Soup or the Spicy Pork Neck Bone soup both are super flavorful and light at the same time. Definitely coming back to try their special menu items
google avatar

Aennie K.

Yelp
Food was still very top notch. My absolute favorite spot for authentic korean food and I rave about this place to my friends. However, service was not very good today. I don't know what happened but they were very rude about us taking our leftover banchan which has never happened before. It's fine if policies have changed, but I think it's always better for business to always communicate with your guests about that rather than speaking to us rudely when we asked nicely for boxes for the food. Started off nice and then got rude toward the end. Super weird. Not so sure I'll be raving about this place as much as I used to. Just so disappointed because I've brought several friends to this restaurant in the past and always have been so excited to share what I love about this establishment: the authentic food, the family-like service, and the homey ambience. Just disappointed.

Yue Y.

Yelp
Absolutely loved this Korean restaurant! The food was flavorful, authentic, and beautifully presented. everything was delicious and cooked to perfection. The side dishes were fresh, adding so much to the meal. The staff were friendly, attentive, and made us feel very welcome. The cozy, clean atmosphere made for a perfect dining experience. I would highly recommend this place to anyone craving real Korean food. Can't wait to come back!

Yelp
Their soondae soup is to die for. I'd also recommend eating their seafood pancake, pretty good meal to get with friends.
google avatar

Summer Y.

Yelp
They can accommodate larger parties of 8. Great food. No wait for lunch. We tried almost all the items with pictures on the wall. Very solid taste.

Shaun L.

Yelp
Everything was tasty, service was top !! 5 stars. Also it is located inside Woodbridge, super convenient for Irvine residents.
google avatar

Alice S.

Yelp
The food was really tasty. There was plenty of seafood in the seafood pancake and it wasn't greasy like other places. Also my friend ordered G01 and it was surprisingly very tasty! I normally don't eat intestine but the flavor was really good on this dish. I also loved their side dishes, the kimchi wasn't overly spicy which was good for me since I can't eat spicy foods. It's quite busy in here so sometimes the service is a little bit off but the food is really good.

Davaadorj B.

Yelp
i liked all food, specially it is Galbitan good service, fresh food good location attitude is good feeling thank you guys

Yelp
Entered and left immediately. First time here. Last time here. Absolutely rude and condescending female attendant at the front. Pretty empty store yet has a sign up sheet (for what I do not know). Do and be better. Didn't get to try the food due to her incompetence.

Yelp
First time trying Soondae Guk and it exceeds my expectations!! Parking was super easy, it was in a plaza. When we on Wednesday around 5:30, wasn't too crowded. The soup is super flavorful, just add some salt if you need. Adding the spicy sauce was a game changer as well. I rlly rlly loved the soup, definitely would be craving it soon! Hinoki pork belly tasted rlly good, the flavor was a little sweet but savory. Don't know if I would order again since I do cook bossum at home sometimes but if you don't cook it, highly recommend! I will be coming back for sure!

Hannah B.

Yelp
Their spicy beef short rib soup is great and a must order. Staff is always friendly and the place is clean.

Jimmy T.

Yelp
We got the spicy soondae soup and spicy short rib beef soup--both were super flavorful and hit the spot! The side dishes were fresh and generous, and the staff were incredibly friendly and welcoming. Left with a full belly and a happy heart. Definitely coming back!

Yelp
It's been six months since my last review and although the prices have gone up, Moobongri is still just as delicious, and portions haven't changed. My favorite item to order is the A01. Soondae Guk ($17.99). The beef broth is comforting and the Soondae is plenty. This is enough to share between two people. I recently tried their B02 Spicy Pan Fried Soondae with Veggies and Noodles ($59.99). This is meant to be shared between 3-4 people. While it was tasty, I felt it was a bit pricey for what it was. Also, the pan was sliding all over the stove when you stir it, so it was a safety hazard. I mentioned this to the staff, but they weren't concerned about it. I'm going to stick with the Soondae Guk from here. They also offer two different types of Soondae - Chal (steamed glass noodle pork blood) and Tojong (steamed sweet rice, meat and veggies pork blood). I love both! Service was friendly, but I was taken aback by the lack of concern they had with the hot plate sliding on the stove. Other than that, the restaurant is always clean, and I will continue to come back!
google avatar

Emily H.

Yelp
Definitely one of the most authentic Korean restaurants in Irvine! If not better than Korea Came to try their steam pork belly and grilled intestines!! Love love loved it Will be back soon!
google avatar

Tiffany M.

Yelp
I've been here a couple of times and both experiences were similar! They don't have some of the things that are on the menu like the deep fried soondae or intestine hot pot or fish cake tendon soup. The food is delicious, but expensive and service is just okay! The last time we had to ask for white rice multiple times before they brought it. The spicy soondae hot pot was more than enough for 2 people but there was an absurd amount of bean sprouts inside
google avatar

Teresa N.

Yelp
Food and service always great! We've been coming here since restaurant opened in Irvine. Love this place!

Yelp

It also has a lot of Soondae and meat in it, so I'm satisfied after eating a bowl of Soondaeguk. If you want to have Soondaeguk in Irvine, I highly recommend Moobongri Soondae.

Yelp
If you're looking for an incredible Korean comfort food experience, Moobongri in Irvine is the spot to visit! From the moment we walked in, the staff greeted us warmly, and the service was impressively fast and friendly throughout our meal. We got seating right away at around 5 pm on a Saturday night, but after 30 minutes all the tables were filled and the waiting list started to grow. Let's talk about the banchan first--WOW. Each side dish was fresh, flavorful, and perfectly seasoned. You can tell if a Korean spot is good by their kimchi and kimchi radish and it was really really good, enough for us to ask for a refill. We ordered the soondae hot pot, and it was absolutely perfect for a cold day. The rich, hearty broth was packed with flavor and came loaded with soondae (Korean blood sausage), vegetables, and other goodies. The portion size was generous and more than enough for two very hungry people. Quick tip, the soondae you gotta eat fast because if you leave it in too long, it falls apart and disappears lol On top of that, I added an extra serving of soondae and ramen, which elevated the dish to the next level of deliciousness. Our server helped cooked our dish as well which was super helpful. Moobongri is a gem, and I can't recommend it enough. If you're craving authentic Korean food and a cozy dining experience, this place will not disappoint. I'll definitely be back!

Yelp
Stop by on the way up from San Diego to SoFi stadium a chargers game. Ordered the pork belly and seafood pancake. The pork belly was soft like butter and tasted clean without much marinade. The seafood pancake was thick and was more like a loaf, stuffed with an assortment of seafood and veggies. Kept me full until after the game hours later. Friendly staff and and food came out fast.

Yelp
I want to preface that the service here was definitely a miss and my overall experience could have been better. The employees seemed overwhelmed and wasn't the most attentive HOWEVER the food was fantastic! I love gopchang, soondae and bossam and I haven't been able to find an authentic Korean restaurant that offers all of the above until now. The large beef intestine was one of the best I've had (note they only serve it after 3PM). I loved how they stir fry garlic and chives with it. The soondae was also solid and abundant. The bossam came in a steamed basket with a good variety of veggies. The kimchi tasted like it was fresh and made in house! All in all, this is a really authentic Korean spot in Irvine!

Yelp
This place is awesome! The soondae guk is the best I've had and is so hearty and rich! The kimchi and radish kimchi is freshly made !! However, one time they didn't let us take home our leftover kimchi with our seafood pancake which is kinda odd! The seafood pancake was really good the first time, the second time we came it was very thick and batter heavy. So it depend on the chef, wish they had a set recipe so it's consistent. But overall i would definitely be coming back!!
