Moon Star Kitchen & Bar - Review - Chicago - The Infatuation
"Longstanding Old Town pub Corcoran’s now has a sibling spot next door with a slightly more elevated take on bar food and drinks. Along with their own twists on classic cocktails like a maple syrup old fashioned, Moon Star has a varied mix of appetizers like caviar and lobster deviled eggs or crab wontons, plus shareables like romesco gnocchi or chicken yakitori.
We haven’t been here yet, but want you to know this spot exists." - John Ringor

"At the former Wells on Wells, a shuttered bar at 1617 N. Wells Street, a liquor license has been issued under the name Moon Star Kitchen & Bar; Kevin Vaughn — the outspoken Illinois Restaurant Association member behind Vaughan Hospitality Group (which owns five bars, including Corcoran’s next door in Old Town, Emerald Loop, and a pair of Vaughn’s Pubs) — is listed on the license, and he did not respond to an email about his plans." - Ashok Selvam
It was quite busy when we went and very loud. The food was decent but the rangoon was bland. The drinks were very flavorful. It's an interesting atmosphere if you're looking for somewhere different to go out.

We sat on the patio for a Saturday night. Drinks were good, but felt a little overpriced for that area. The pan y tomate was delicious… the “goat cheese” dip was mostly just lettuce with some cheese sprinkled in. We even mentioned to our server that there wasn’t any cheese to be found, and she didn’t have much to say.

New and exciting! Chic vibes but jot stuffy! Food was 10/10 across the board. Get their lobster deviled eggs and gnocchi! Don’t miss the maple old fashioned and pickle martini! Very attentive service. Patio has heat lamps! Old town gem! @chicagopescetarian

I am reluctant to rate Moon Star because then it will become so popular it will be difficult to get in. The menu was interesting. The cocktails excellent. Every dish was innovative, flavorful and interesting. The staff attentive, accommodating and friendly. And the prices were fair. I will be back.

Wonderful ambiance and well decorated. Staff is please T, friendly and attentive. Food is great for a meal or if you just want a small bite. My boyfriend loved the lamb chops and ribeye. The Mediterranean flat bread was a great starter and my mom loved the crab dip. And you can’t forget the buratta! My family and I have been several times especially since the back patio is dog friendly. I really appreciate the thoughtfulness this place put into their mocktails, too.

All 4 meals came out separately, about 10+ mins apart making the last meal coming out about 30+ mins apart from first so very odd disconnected meal and service. Kitchen staff brought out the meals and waitress didn’t check on our table to see how our food was or if we needed anything. Despite only a few tables in the dining area, service was slow and waitress was not attentive or insight.
She also brought out 2 separate checks without asking while also assuming she knew how to split the bill.
Sadly, I will not be going back nor would I recommend this restaurant to anyone.

Had an AWESOME experience! Such a cozy atmosphere. Food was delicious - especially the steak sliders. The bartender, Janie, was really sweet, great to talk to, and made a phenomenal martini. Definitely will be coming back to this bar!

I wanted our food to be as good as the other posts. We order the meatball sliders and Margherita pizza from the happy hour to try and both were 2.5 stars. Service was a 5. Atmosphere 4. Back patio is comfortable and inviting. We left and went somewhere else for dinner. Maybe we ordered the wrong items.
