"Is it quirky? Is it ever. What’s it good for? A meet-up with your friend’s cousin who reached out on LinkedIn. West Village wine bar Moonflower has a psychedelic Lisa Frank thing going on. The walls and tables are covered in pastel paintings of plants and butterflies, the bathroom has a disco ball mirror, and there’s a piece of art showcasing a rainbow, a slice of watermelon, and some sort of terrier. On the wine list, you’ll mostly find European producers, with heavy representation from France, and a couple of wild card options tossed in. The 40 or so bottles range from around $50-$80, and wines by the glass start at $14." - bryan kim
"The team behind Jersey City restaurant Frankie crossed the water to debut this Bohemian ode to the West Village. If you’re looking for a window into what the trendiest indie producers are right now, Moonflower will give you a kaleidoscopic view that matches the equally colorful interiors. The bar does not take reservations." - Eater Staff, Melissa McCart

"If you’re looking for a fun place to drink natural wine in the West Village, Moonflower should be your new clubhouse. With its pastel murals and mirror that looks like a disco ball, this little bar has an atmosphere that we would describe as Lisa Frank meets Henri Matisse, and it’s the perfect place to relax with a friend over a glass of Slovenian pet-nat. The wine list is old-world and natural, so don’t come looking for a nice Bordeaux—your wine will be a bit funkier than that. You can get some small plates like cured trout and tuna tartare, and there are few colorfully-painted tables where you can hang out, in addition to some bar seating." - Bryan Kim
"A colorful natural wine bar from interior designer Rebecca Johnson and chef Rowen McDermott (of Frankie) that aims to be a downtown destination for natural wine." - Eater Staff
"Newly opened, I saw that Moonflower had to temporarily shut down because staff members or significant others of staff members tested positive for COVID-19." - Aimee Levitt
