The 22 Best Restaurants In Milwaukee 2024

"Morel has been around in Walker’s Point since 2014, before the neighborhood became such a hotspot. A lot of nearby restaurants have come and gone, but this is still the place for a special occasion dinner where you can sip some interesting wine with a big plate of steak or fish. This is one of those places where the waiter will recite three paragraphs when you're asking about specials. Those are usually excellent, and so is the bread service with four different kinds of carbs and whipped butter, plus rotating entrees like pork shoulder with five-year cheddar knackwurst, and tender, flaky rainbow trout that was apparently brought backstage to Elton John while on tour. (Our waiter’s words, not ours). Try to get a table near the wall of windows, where it’s a bit quieter." - kristine hansen

Google
First time visiting Milwaukee and was staying nearby - I picked this restaurant purely because of the name (I love me some Morel mushrooms). After a few minutes research, I walked over and the lovely host immediately sat me at the bar. The host was great to talk to, very friendly and welcoming, as were the bartenders. I usually have a bit of solo travel anxiety, but the atmosphere here was so warm and welcoming (and casual!). They took great care of me with recommendations, regularly making sure I had everything I wanted, all without being too overbearing. It was the perfect experience for the solo diner wanting an elevated meal. The cocktails were great, the food was outstanding, I can't recommend this place enough!

Morel has been on my must try list for awhile and I'm so glad I was able to get there this trip. The pork shoulder was excellent, literally melted in your mouth it was so tender. The portion is also fairly large. Definitely try the spritz (the strawberry rhubarb makes it taste like summer in a glass)!

Morel is one of the best restaurants in Milwaukee. Starting with the service, all the workers have smiles, and are in a good mood. You know why the staff is in such a good mood? It is because they know you are going to love the food and the experience. Everything on the menu is a winner, but the morel mushroom fricasse in spring is their signature dish. The name of the place is Morel. I would order whatever is in season, but go in mid/ late Spring. Standouts for me were the beef cheek, any salad, pork belly, and the walleye.

Google
Classy and welcoming farm-to-table restaurant with a delicious menu. Our server really was excellent and was invested in us having a great time. I shared the rabbit starter and had the pork belly entree. Both excellent! Highly recommended and would return when back in town!

Google
My experience at this location was truly first class. While the wait for our reservation was a bit longer than expected, the quality of the dining experience made it worthwhile. The food here is exceptional, as it is sourced entirely from local farms and butchered on site. Each dish is prepared with great care, highlighting the freshness of the ingredients. The attention to detail in both the food preparation and presentation really sets this place apart.

Came here with my fiancé before a Bucks game. We had impeccable service from Madison. She was very knowledgeable and gave some tremendous recommendations. The manager, Carson also came to check on us. He was very accommodating. The steak and lamb were amazing. Cannot recommend it enough!

Was in Milwaukee for an event and dropped by Morel for dinner. Phenomenal experience! Living in Chicago, one can get easily spoiled with the food scene. With that being said, I haven't been surprised in a long time. The lamb I had was outstanding, a uniquely done dish that had depth of flavor --including a Moroccan lamb sausage that they just nailed--beautiful presentation, along with outstanding service (Ron, you're awesome). I'd highly recommend Morel and wish I lived closer so I could enjoy it more often!

Google
Loved the cozy and unpretentious vibe with exceptional food. Season and local flavors are featured beautifully. We had 2 appetizers and a main and will be back to try other menu items! Morel is a MKE dining gem must!

Yelp
Food: 9.5/10 unbelievably good! We got the bread (which was excellent) and the short rib. It was a tough choice to decide between everything Service: 10/10, our waiter was very knowledgeable, helpful, and friendly. I wish I remembered his name, but he was a college student and incredible at his job! Ambiance: 10/10, we sat outdoors on the patio and it was a great atmosphere Overall: 9.7/10, will be returning again!

Yelp
Our selection of food/drinks: Appetizers - Lamb Carpaccio - Corn Soup Mains - Rainbow Trout - Smoked Venison Ragout Drinks - Blind Skeleton - Fresa Picante (Non-alcoholic cocktail) Verdict: Morel is absolutely fantastic! My wife picked out this location for our date night as she is big on going to places with farm-to-table type dining. We went on a Saturday evening and while we were still able to get bar seating as a walk-in, I would highly recommend making a reservation ahead of time to make sure you get a seat if you have a larger group than 2. The staff is very hospitable and welcoming. They seem very passionate about what they do and though have been there for awhile, seem as excited for us to try their dishes as we were excited to try them for the first time. While everything was excellent, if I had to pick, the standouts for me were the lamb carpaccio, smoked venison ragout, and fresa picante. The lamb carpaccio is just an incredible mix of different ingredients that all worked perfectly together in every bite. Looking at the description, I half expected it to be a bit salty but it was not like that at all. The dish was very well balanced. The smoked venison ragout struck me because it was a more unique experience in that I don't eat venison much nor have I had pappardelle pasta. Usually, I'm all about the meat but surprisingly with this dish, I felt like the amount of meat was adequate but I was left wanting more pasta! I'm not sure how to describe it but the freshness and deliciousness of the pasta just made me miss it more than the venison when we were done with the dish. While I enjoy the occasional alcoholic beverage, ever since I dined at Atelier in Chicago and had their incredible non-alcoholic drink pairing, I've been actively looking for unique or good tasting mocktail-like drinks. Morel's Fresa Picante matches exactly that for me. I loved the spicy kick aftertaste (disclaimer: I also love spicy foods) while still retaining the quality of being a refreshing drink. While I've had drinks that were similar in taste profile before, something about Morel's version is elevated by comparison (maybe something about the way they make their syrups?) Great experience all around! We will definitely be back next time we're in Milwaukee!

Yelp
Morel is one of our favorite date night resturaunts in the Milwaukee area. The service is always amazing, the food is mouthwatering, and the drinks are refreshing. Last night we enjoyed dinner on the patio. I love that the menu differs slightly, based off of what is fresh and available to the chefs. If you go during the summer, you have to get the pork belly starter! We made the mistake of trying before getting a picture, and then we couldn't stop eating it. The cheese and meat board offers such a great variety of flavors and easily can be shared by 3-4 people. The Ragout is one of my absolute favorite dishes! The pheasant breast is a 10/10! We finished the night with a bottle of wine that our server recommended and the goat cheese cheesecake. We have never had a bad flavor of their cheesecake. Please go to Morel and enjoy one of the best meals you'll have in Milwaukee.

Yelp
This is such a quaint restaurant with a wonderful atmosphere. The plates were unique and the ingredients felt fresh and thoughtful. I can't wait to go back and try more of their dishes!

Yelp
Wow wow wow! A full farm to table restaurant with such fresh ingredients. Each dish was so well thought out with such unique combinations. It was so hard to decide what to eat when I wanted everything! The lamb carpaccio was a hit we got 2 for 4 people. All the cocktails we tried were delicious as well. The waiter knew a lot about the restaurant, menu, history of the location, and food. It was a great dinner experience ! Sitting outside in the summer is so nice but the inside was cool as well with a very open concept. I definitely want to come back!

Yelp
Coming from Minneapolis to Milwaukee for work, I stayed at The Iron horse and walked to Morel. It was a great evening at the bar, with excellent service and good food... well worth another visit during my next trip!

Yelp
We decided to do a quick overnight trip to Milwaukee, where we chose to dine at Morel. This a very cute farm-to-table restaurant in the downtown area that takes pride in their concept. Overall, it was good, but there were a few things we felt that were missing in our meal, that if they were there, it would have put the restaurant over the top. For appetizers, the shining star was the lamb carpaccio (heck, probably the best dish of the entire meal). It was the perfect balance of the meaty goodness you look for in carpaccio, balanced with the right amount of acid. We also got the oyster mushroom and polenta. The polenta was well-made, but the dish was a bit one note. For entrées, we got the pork shoulder, short rib, and lamb shoulder. Our biggest complaint for all three was that they were all very meaty but didn't have something to balance the dish. For example, it would have been great to have a mashed potato or some sort of starchy puree with the dish. I did notice in past iterations that was how the dish was prepared. I loved the brat that came with the pork shoulder, but while tender, the pork shoulder generally lacked seasoning. The beef short rib was also very tender but could have used more seasoning as well. The lamb merguez was probably the most seasoned out of all the dishes. Overall, it's a decent option, and the staff is super nice.

Yelp
Ambiance - great. Service - also great. We got the pork belly and chanterelle fricasse to start - delicious, but honestly a little salty! Lamb ragout was phenomenal. For dessert we got the goat cheese almond apricot cheesecake and peach cobbler with coffee - both were excellent! Value for what we got felt appropriate, too! Patio looks cute, would like to try sitting there sometime!

Yelp
I love love love Morel! Everything we have ordered so far exceeded my expectations. Be ready for a warm, cozy and inviting atmosphere. The menu at Morel is changing seasonally and offering a wide range of delicious options! One of my favorite appetizers was the hot ham and biscuit with honey! So delicious! I've also tried the Rabbit Ragout, which has Pappardeile, Woodear Mushroom, Chili, Sarvecchio. Amazing! My husband loved the Pork Shoulder, Linguica, Corn, Poblano, Potato, Bacon, Salsa Verde, Cojita. Honestly, I don't think you could go wrong with anything on the menu! The service provided by the knowledgeable and friendly staff was outstanding, and provides a memorable dining experience. Morel is truly a hidden gem in Milwaukee, and I highly recommend it to anyone looking for an unforgettable dining experience.

Yelp
It is obvious that the staff puts in a lot of care to make Morel a wonderful experience. We were seated quickly and the server took the time to give recommendations based on what we liked. The dining room had a lively atmosphere and felt like a place to enjoy a moment paired with great food. Regarding the meal itself, I got a Hanger Steak cooked medium. The dish was paired excellently with a side of leafy greens and onion rings. The aioli was a nice touch as well. The steak was cooked perfectly with a savory taste to each bite. For dessert I grabbed an apricot cheesecake made with goat cheese and I appreciated the creativity with the apricot flavor. Overall a wonderful experience. Great spot to have a celebration or treating someone who is in town visiting.

Yelp
I forget how great this place is and am reminded each time I go. Everything I've had is delicious, but our most recent trip was perfect. Cocktails are delicious and well thought out. The honey butter ham biscuit is a must because it is so very good. We tried the savoy cabbage salad which was pleasantly acidic and crunchy - perfect to balance that honey butter ham biscuit. I had the hanger steak as usual. It comes with a small, bright, fresh bit of salad and deliciously crispy onion rings. My friend had the smoked lamb ragout and said it was delicious - homemade pasta for the win. Dessert was a bourbon ice cream chocolate chip cookie sandwich - eaten with a spoon and a lot of joy. I do recommend reservations for peak nights. Parking is available in a lot across the street but there's also ample street parking nearby. The service is great and everyone is so friendly and helpful. It's super cute inside - perfect for both a friends dinner and also a dinner date. Overall, I'll be back again and again!

Yelp
So good! It was my first time here but might become one of my favorite spots in Milwaukee. My friend and I made a last-minute dinner reservation on Saturday. For appetizers, we got the lamb carpaccio which was really fresh and flavorful. Also loved the different textures in the dish. We both ordered the smoked lamb ragout which was amazing! The pasta was cooked perfectly and it was very flavorful and filling. The service was great; our server was friendly and really knowledgeable on the menu. Will definitely be back!

Yelp
Morel is one of those places for me that whenever I go, I always ask myself why I don't come more often. The service is always amazing, love the atmosphere inside and the foods the best part! Morel gives the option to be adventurous and try new things with their menu, and so far I haven't tried anything I didn't like. Highly recommend! Oh, and their cocktails are some of the best in MKE!
google avatar

Katie M.

Yelp
We dined in the simple but cozy back garden patio and enjoyed exemplary service from Aga, who demonstrated superior knowledge of and recommendations for the menu items. I normally stick to vegetarian options but the meat dishes seemed more inspired, so we started with homemade bread service and melt-in-your-mouth pork belly and then shared the substantially-sized walleye and duck breast entrees. The dishes were both complex and beautifully plated. This has to be one of the tastiest meals I've had in recent memory. No room for dessert, unfortunately.
google avatar

Tim R.

Yelp
On my way to trying all the top restaurants MKE has to offer, I stopped off for a nice meal at Morel. First, it's hip inside. It comes off as a trendy urban spot with a huge buzz of upscale people. I liked that. Our waitress, Madison, was really terrific. She is an A+ and set off the evening well by going through the menu, asking about allergies, touting the farm to table reason to believe and generally making us feel welcome. The interior is wood and the crowd was loud. For a place to have any semblance of a conversation, this is a difficult one. But, the food is really the star. We had the bread service as well as the four cheese plate. Great start. I opted for the fettuccine with this melted cheese and black truffle. The pasta was good, the sauce was alright but the truffle was essentially flavorless. As someone who goes to Alba during truffle season, I was overly optimistic that some would have made their way back to Milwaukee. Anyhow, not a big deal. The flatbread with burrata was excellent. The tomatoes had flavor and the bread was really delicious. My father had the hangar steak. He was happy with it but actually like the fresh salad just as much. There were not a whole lot of things to eat as a vegetarian, but I knew that beforehand. So, in summary, really good.

Yelp
The last time I was at Morel was 6 years ago! Went back for my birthday because I remember the food being delicious and my memory was not wrong! From start to finish our meal was excellent and I cannot for the life of me figure out why we stayed away so long! If I had to pick a favorite appetizer it would be the smoked pork belly but really everything was so so good! The smoked lamb ragout and beef short rib were our entrees and I 100% recommend them. It was such a pleasant experience from start to finish with excellent service and a lovely ambiance in their outdoor dining area. If you're looking for a unique spot with amazing food Morel is definitely the place to check out!
google avatar

Bao-Y H.

Yelp
We went here for an intimate birthday dinner for my fiancé. We couldn't have picked a better place during our quick Wisconsin trip. We were staying at the Iron Horse hotel and didn't realize that this was pretty close so we call a Lyft instead of walking. What we ordered: - Mushroom Fricassee (Hedgehog Mushroom, Polenta, Garlic, Lemon, Chive) - Lamb Shank, Scarlet Runner Bean, Lamb Bacon, Rapini, Caesar, Lamb Jus Everything was amazing! They were able to accommodate us earlier than our reservation time since we seriously over estimated how long it would take us to get there. We had a drink at the bar and were shortly seated by a lovely Host. Our server Sarah was a doll, very patient and informative. We would recommend this to anyone!

Yelp
Amazing food! Atmosphere was peaceful and beautiful. The service was right on point and the drinks were amazing

Yelp
It's been awhile since I patronized a fabulous restaurant Service was 10 out of 10 And out course you always get that one table that's always loud that you can't hear each other talk. The food was 10 out of 10 Unfortunately I had to give the desert menu a 5 out of 10 since I wasn't able to get my favorite peach cobbler
google avatar

Rachael J.

Yelp
This place was fantastic. Our host was super welcoming and once he found out we were from out of town and we were looking for recommendations on things to do in the city he was happy to help. Shout out to Ralph. He ended up giving us 3 brunch recommendations and multiple other places we should visit while we were in town including going to prairie park for the view. Our server was super friendly as well. The staff was great. We started with a half meat/ half cheese charcuterie board and it was our best one in the city yet. It came with bread but we also ordered a bread basket to be sure. A variety of cheddar, triple cream, along with beef summer sausage and a venison sausage with apples, honey, nuts etc. Literally everything was amazing. I ordered the smoked venison ragout which was super decadent. The smoky venison was tender, the noodles were made in house and fresh. The MUSHROOMS THOUGH. cooked perfect, flavor on point. DO IT, it's called Morel afterall.

Yelp
In Milwaukee for a volleyball tournament and my son wanted a burger as usual. We attempted to be seated at his choice of location however there was a 30 minute wait time. Not bad but I assumed we could do better. To our benefit Morel was next door and the gentleman whom greeted us was able to seat us right away. Due to the menu being a bit more than burgers I ordered for him as well as myself. Needles to say my son is a changed man. The food was exquisite. Being from Chicago my standards are high when I spend my money and this place exceeded all of my expectations. I had the pork and he the lamb but the preparation of the two I refuse to distort and strongly advise you to try it for yourself. Met the chef/owner on the way out whom seem to be a humble fellow that enjoy wowing the hell out of people because that is exactly what he did for us. We were told to come back in May/June for the fish and I've already blocked my calendar.
google avatar

Phil G.

Yelp
We had a lovely dinner last. The food was prepared well, I had the Walleye with morels, and the seasoned service exuded confidence. Morel's space is bright, with excellent spacing between the tables. Everything was quite nice. However, the final bill surprised me. With cocktails and dessert added, our check without gratuity was $100.00 per person. That's rather expensive, especially for Milwaukee. I have spent a fortune for meals, Alinea in Chicago, Per Se in NYC, Arpege in Paris, Aimo e Nadia in Milan etc. Some disappointed, and I wanted my money back - Alinea in particular. But, I don't mind spending. I just want my money's worth. I felt Morel, considering the portions served, was overpriced. It was a good restaurant. I liked it. However, the prices were a tad high. I'm back in Milwaukee after a twelve year hiatus, so maybe I'm out of touch. As I eat at more places, I'll have a better understanding.

Team S.

Yelp
The farm to table cuisine is off the charts FRESH! One word: SAUSAGE!!!!! So amazing! This is one of the best "not so hidden" GEMS in Milwaukee. They treat everyone wonderfully, know everything about the menu, and aren't shy about offering recommendations. (Listen to what they tell you!!!!) Fabulous!

Lucas M.

Yelp
Amazing. Smoked lamb ragout was one of the best dishes I've ever had. Service was great as well. Never ran out of water. 100% will be returning.

Yelp
Three of us dined at Morel a second time recently and again had a very good experience. We ordered two salads - Savoy Cabbage and Roasted Beet - and liked both. One of us felt that the Roasted Beet salad was a bit too vinegary, although the other two found the flavors to be well balanced. The Smoked Pork Belly was just as good as we had last time. We each ordered a main course. The meat in the Lamb Shoulder was presumably locally sourced and thus a bit gamier than the typical New Zealand lamb. Even though the lamb was evidently cooked with a lot of spices, I would have preferred more Middle Eastern spices to suppress the gamy taste more thoroughly; mixing the beaded lamb with the pork sausage that was included in the dish did further suppress the gaminess, nevertheless. The Duck Breast was very tasty, although the skin was too tough for us to chew; perhaps the flavorful skin was just for the taste and supposed to be left uneaten. The best of the three main dishes was the Pumpkin Gnocchi, which had impeccably balanced flavors and texture. The Chocolate Terrine that we shared for our dessert was also very good.
google avatar

Rick R.

Yelp
Time for an update. The food is still amazing! I love the flavors, and the creativity behind the dishes! For example, when I see "flatbread" on a menu, I picture a rectangular-shaped "pizza" with toppings, but what arrived were slices of warm, herbed flatbread on one side, with a ball of burrata and heirloom tomatoes on the side. Love it! The Lamb Carpaccio on my most recent visit had several layers of delicious flavors and textures. It was brilliant! The cocktails were great, and the service is always excellent! Morel is still one of my top 5 favorite restaurants in the city! If you haven't been there yet, you should go soon!
google avatar

Eva L.

Yelp
Two words: Amazing food. Everything is farm to table and there is an intimacy here that makes you feel as if you're hugged in a warm blanket by the fireplace while eating a fantastic dinner. The ham and honey biscuit is a must-try for appetizers. I tried the short ribs which were to die for, and my dinner companions had the lamb shoulder that they said was very good as well. Great wine list here too! I have never had Barolo and this 2012 vintage rocked! I will 100% revisit.
google avatar

Emily D.

Yelp
Attended one of Morel's morel dinners recently and it absolutely did not disappoint. The five course meal with wine pairings was divine and a wonderful experience. Before each course the chef, wine expert, and mushroom expert gave an explanation of the dish and pairing we were about to have which was very nice. For this dinner they had us seated at larger tables with other diners, which help create a space for conversation and a way to get to know the people around you. I am excited to go back and try Morel on a more "regular" dinner service night.

Yelp
Had a great dinner experience! The weather was amazing so we sat outside on their courtyard patio which is a very good size. Everything we had for dinner was delicious! I personally had the Rabbit which might be the first time I've ever had it. We had our server recommend a few starters and they were all tasty.
google avatar

Yelp
Cute and calm atmosphere. Friendly and attentive staff. Dinner was great. Everything was seasoned and cooked to perfection. There is a parking lot across the street from the restaurant.

Yelp
One of the best meals of my life!! I will dream about this food until I come back to Milwaukee next. Started with a Wisconsin cheese board as we are not locals, included cheddar, blue cheese, Brie and a local Bally cheese in addition to walnuts, cranberry jam, local honey, and toasted homemade bread. It was incredible. Next came mushroom fricassee - various mushrooms marinated in something incredible served on freshly made polenta. We devoured it so ordered a second plate and devoured it again. I don't even like mushrooms on most days and I would have eaten 3 more orders and skipped the main course. Fortunately did not skip the main course: had the beef Short rib and the pork shoulder. Both incredible. Both served with root vegetables and a delicious sauce. I practically licked my plate clean. Also had cocktails with dinner, they were delicious just not as memorable as the food. Service was excellent. Ambiance was perfect for an anniversary or other celebration, fancy date night. Would not recommend for kids.

Kathy G.

Yelp
Food was excellent. Service great. And we loved eating on the patio! It was a beautiful night for outdoor dining and it's sad to think that nights like that are quickly disappearing until next spring.

Yelp
This restaurant was amazing! I went with a big group so was luckily able to try many of the starters. We started with the 1/2 and 1/2 board. There were two housemade sausages on the board and both were very good. One was a chicken based sausage and it was so delicious! The pita bread that came along with it was so soft too! For starters, we had the mushroom fricassee, savory cabbage, and smoked pork belly. All was so good, but my favorite was the pork belly! It came over a bed of some beans and the sauce it was it was so so good. For my entree I had the halibut. It was so fresh and flavorful, and the mashed potatoes were delicious! The service was great as well. And the overall vibe of the restaurant was modern but classy and cozy, a perfect combo. Would be great for a nice date night. This restaurant was amazing, I can't wait to go back!

Yelp
From a food perspective, Morel may be the best meal I've had since moving to the greater Milwaukee area. Everything was delicious, the dining room is delightful, and the restaurant is in a great neighborhood that I'll be back to explore at another time. Though we didn't get to dine on Morel's patio, I expect that we'll return to give that a try as well. My only "mild" complaint was that the cocktails were a little...I don't know...odd? Definitely inventive, but I found that they didn't compliment the food all that well. The Frogette didn't finish hers, and I ordered a glass of wine just before my entree arrived. Won't stop us from returning though, and we'll see if Morel can get that extra star.

Joshua B.

Yelp
Ate on the patio which is a hidden gem. Had the pork belly which was amazing. Also had the lamb pasta, the cavatelli and the butter lettuce salad. Probably one of my favorite meals of all time. Highly recommend.

Sacha R.

Yelp
Must go. Everything was delicious. I was in WI for business and found this place, and it was so good I would travel back just to eat there. Cannot say enough, just go.

Yelp
Morel has a fun menu, definitely on the rich and decadent side. I had the summer squash salad and it was fresh and sharp - a delish way to start the meal. I loved on the the short rib, which was tender and dressed in a rich gravy; very nice until I got to the cold menu. As I was most of the way through it before I hit the ice cold center, I didn't feel like dealing with it. The dish was so tasty, I will definitely give Morel another try someday. Service was really good, the bar staff was slinging really tasty looking cocktails, and I'll definitely be diving into the wine list next time.

Yelp
This was probably the best meal I have ever had. Restaurant has great atmosphere and the staff was wonderful. Can't say enough good things about the experience we had there. Great job Morel.

Yelp
I feel like the people have already spoke. Hands down. The food is awesome here. Salad, beef, veggies.... All of it. It's amazing! Far more care than average put into your food. You will pay higher priced, but it's above great. It's all well thought out, cared for, prepared.... It's awesome. The severs are nice too. Friendly and not over the top. They're not snobby and making you feel like you're wasting their time. Love the ambiance. Cozy cozy in there. Big enough but small enough. Hard to explain but they make it feel almost like a big dining room. Cozy but not like you're sitting in your neighbor's lap. More than space between everyone. Fun area downtown if you want to go out before and after. This place is a treat

Yelp
Wonderful ambiance, especially on outdoor patio. Gorgeous view. Food was fresh and visually appealing. I had the smoked ham biscuit with honey butter, the cheese board, and a drink called Moving Out of the City. Topped it off with some Peach Cobbler and Bourbon Ice Cream. Zero complaints. Shout out to my gorgeous waiter Joseph. Do yourself a favor...when you visit Milwaukee, visit Morel.

Yelp
Had an amazing experience last night at Morel! A friend and I sat at the bar and the bartender Madison was SO helpful with recommendations on both food and drinks. We got an oyster mushroom polenta appetizer which was great, I got the braised beef short rib which was amazing, the dish as a whole was very flavorful. My friend got the rainbow trout which was good though I'd say maybe a bit less exciting for the price. I do understand fine dining is pricier and felt it was worth it though I did wish there were just a couple other sides to come with some of the dishes & for the cocktails they're pre-mixed so I wasn't able to customize one of the drinks I was interested in with a different liquor. One more suggestion is to put felt tips on the bottoms of the chairs as the dragging sound is a bit jarring for the otherwise relaxing atmosphere. Overall, it was a great experience and we'd definitely come again. Once again shoutout to Madison her service was 10/10 in both professionalism and her great personality. :)

Yelp
Had an amazing experience at Morel. Got a drink at the bar to start, one of their house cocktails which was incredible. Ate on the patio which is so gorgeous. Service was amazing, our waiter checked in with us constantly and food came out when ready. Every dish was amazing, we couldn't even pick a favorite they were all phenomenal! The duck confit was especially good, the meat melted in our mouths. We were too full for dessert so we'll be back soon!

Yelp
This was our first visit to Morel, but definitely not our last! Everything is homemade and locally sourced. We started with Lamb Carpaccio and Mushroom Fricassee. Both were packed with flavor. The creaminess of the polenta with the mushrooms made for a perfect bite. For mains I had lamb ragout with homemade pasta, mushrooms and a hint of chile. The smoked lamb was so hearty and filling. My husband had the pheasant breast. We had never had pheasant before and were pleasantly surprised with the flavor and tender meat. The jus and salad paired perfectly making this a light, tasty dish. We finished with the chocolate terrine and apple tart! Just the right size and sweetness to finish off the meal without feeling overstuffed. The terrine was rich and smooth with an espresso sauce and topped with pistachios. The apple tart with cinnamon custard and salted caramel ice cream tasted like a bite of fall. So delicious!

Yelp
It was an excellent meal from start to finish including the service, the atmosphere, and of course the food! We started with a morel fricassee appetizer and a salad then shared the walleye. Having grown up on walleye and loving it I was hoping for something really good and this exceeded even my high expectations. It was probably the best walleye I've had in years and was perfectly cooked and served on a bed of ramps and fiddleheads. Highly recommend you try!

Yelp
5/5!! Had the best time and enjoyed Morel. The beet salad may be the best in the city. My group of friends all enjoyed our entrees and cocktails. Only downside is we made a reservation and we're seated 20 minutes past our designated time. This would not be a problem, although we had plans after! Even with this small hiccup, I will definitely be back to sample more of the menu!

Yelp
My friends and I went here on a whim, and the host was extremely helpful- pulled a table together for us outside in their super cute patio. The walk to the patio revealed the beautiful interior of the restaurant making this a great option for the winter or summer. The food was absolutely delicious- especially the braised beef short rib! Cocktails were great too and the wine list was superb.

Yelp
Lucky to have gotten a table at 5:30 because shortly after arriving the place started filling to capacity with diners who smartly reserved tables. It's easy to see why this place is so popular. Everything, ambiance, decor, friendliness of staff, number of staff, and even the playlist was excellent and we haven't even started talking food yet.

Yelp
Come for the fungui and stay for the dessert. Oh my delicious! It's been awhile since I have gone to a new restaurant and Morel is hands down my absolute favorite restaurant to eat at in Milwaukee. From the minute you walk in the door, you are welcomed into a place pulsing with life and a collective team creating a beautiful ambiance and experience. When it comes to dining in Milwaukee, this place has it together. I was greeted by the wonderful Miss Sara and asked her her favorite items in the menu. Her recommendations did not disappoint. The Mushroom Fricassee was mind blowing good and something to savor as long as you possibly can when diving into this dish. I recommend taking a bite and giving yourself a minimum of 15 seconds to chew and enjoy the flavors that arise. Next we had the special with an Alfredo topped with shaved truffles that made my friend and I feel like we were in Italy We had some greens with the beat salad to balance the meals and loved the freshness of the beats paired with the pistachios, a favorite combination of mine. Our main included the rainbow trout flavors were not as bold as our previous dishes but the overall plate was good. Perhaps a but more spice or a sauce here to make this dish shine . But the winner of all of our dishes were not any mentioned above but from the dessert menu with the chocolate terrine! I wish I could have recorded my first bite on video. I felt like the girl from Willy Wonka who eats the gum and is taken on a journey of tasting layers upon layers of flavors. This was the absolute best dessert I've had in Milwaukee. It is a must for your visit! Thank you Morel for the opportunity to experience life in your space in such a beautiful way.
