Much-Anticipated Victory Park Location of Vietnamese Favorite Mot Hai Ba Makes Its Debut - Eater Dallas

"Vietnamese hotspot Mot Hai Ba’s second location in Victory Park has officially arrived. The restaurant, at 665 High Market Street in the South Victory development, quietly opened its doors with limited reservations starting on Monday and continuing through Thursday, June 11. Reservations are available from 6-9 pm. Mot Hai Ba’s first location opened in Lakewood in 2013 with chefs Colleen O’Hare and Jeana Johnson at the helm. In 2016, it was taken over by Chef Peja Krstic. It has since become one of Dallas’s most beloved Vietnamese restaurants and has even garnered attention from celebs like Kayne West and Aziz Ansari. The new location includes a much larger dining room than its tiny older sibling and a chef’s table in the kitchen where guests can enjoy a tasting menu from Krstic. The restaurant’s seasonal menu currently includes dishes like har gow, steamed clear dumplings filled with Texas corn and chicken sausage, along with shallot chili oil and sour green tomato; braised ox tail with chewy noodles, pickled carrots, and black truffles; and a creamy coconut-lemongrass panna cotta with raspberry sorbet. Recently, Mot Bai Ha was the recipient of a grant for promising independent restaurants that allowed it to rehire staff and provide meals to local non-profits in the midst of the coronavirus shutdown. Krstic told Eater last month that the Power of 10 Initiative made it possible for him to rehire employees who’d been furloughed in the midst of training for the new restaurant to open." - Brittanie Shey

One of Dallas’s Favorite Vietnamese Restaurants Will Open a Second Location - Eater Dallas

"Mot Hai Ba, the East Dallas Vietnamese restaurant that’s earned love from locals and celebrities alike, will open a second outpost. Chef Peja Krstic will bring his cuisine to the South Victory development at 665 High Market Street later this year, according to a press release. The original Lakewood outpost opened in 2013 with chefs Colleen O’Hare and Jeana Johnson at the helm, and was taken over by Krstic in 2016. Since then, it’s earned a reputation as one of Dallas’s best Vietnamese restaurants, and recently, has become a spot for celebrity sightings. Both rapper Kanye West and comedian Aziz Ansari have dined at Mot Hai Ba in the last year. Expect Mot Hai Ba to hit Victory Park sometime this fall. Stay tuned for an official opening date." - Amy McCarthy

I had a great experience here! The food was delicious and the service was excellent. I am vegan and the waitress was very informative and helped me find options I could safely enjoy. The crispy rice cake is incredible - don’t miss it! The sake punch is delicious and has a fun showstopping color. This is a fun spot for a date night or girls’ night!

Wow! The food and vibe was absolutely AMAZING! We ordered; Crab stuffed leeks, roasted beets, and Grilled lamb and we were really impressed. Definitely an upscale Vietnamese restaurant with a great twist. You should definitely try it out! Oh yeah! We also had the Peach Yogurt dessert and the papaya salad as an appetizer...🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥

Food was delicious & the service was phenomenal. Don’t bother reading the one star reviews especially the ones regarding bad service- they’re trolling.

Went for a birthday party with 7 people last night. We had 3 different appetizers and everyone loved every single one. Our waitress was amazing and service was great. I’m vegan and had a delicious salad, our waitress even brought me out a vegan birthday ice cream since everyone else was eating something. Every person loved their entree. My husband had the lamb and said he’d come back and order it again. Great place, totally don’t think the reviews are deserving.

if you don't go and at least try it once, you will be missing out on a meal from one of the best chefs in town. He is a master with flavor combinations and technique. I have been a patron of his Lakewood restaurant for years and have never been disappointed. I am so happy he opened in Victory. I have had several takeout meals from the Victory location and it is every bit as good as the Lakewood restaurant. The meatballs, stuffed leeks, fried squash blossoms, grilled snapper, pork dumplings, vegetable curry, all fabulous. Also happy to see some of the great old standards from the original are here also...the shaking beef and garlic noodles a must! He has a national reputation for a reason. Opening in a pandemic is tough. Let's support the great chefs of our city.

We are long-time fans of the original location, and had been a bit disappointed by the reviews for the new location in Victory Park...and went anyway with some good friends. Our experience was superb - the food was every bit as good as at the original location....inventive, unexpected, original, and artfully presented. The service, which had been the target/subject of several less-than-stellar reviews we read, was in fact outstanding. Our waiter was attentive, meticulous, and very helpful with suggestions. Our multiple plates were delivered by multiple people who were each gracious and solicitous, and obviously engaged in making our experience pleasant and memorable. The ambiance is hip/cool etc. with energizing but non-obtrusive music. What's not to like... If you haven't been, go. If you have been and were disappointed, give them another chance. And if, like us, you were enchanted, lucky you.

Amazing experience. Live music on weekends, fun all hours happy hour on Mondays, fantastic and welcoming staff, beautiful selections of wine from all around the most wanted wine destinations! I love that service industry and neighbors receive a local discount to show support for locals! The bar is absolutely beautiful. And the food!! I haven’t ordered something I didn’t like. The chef and his creations are unbelievable. I have no idea how him and his crew come up with such wonderful fusions and then shows off their creativity with quality foods that are big enough to satisfy the hungers and never make one feel bloated and tired! Healthy aspects and lush greens wfresh herbs are a total WIN!! If you love food YUM If you love different, modern, and YUMMY... This will become your home 🙏

From looking at the other reviews, it looks like a group got together and decided to make bad reviews because the food is not "authentic" Vietnamese food. Maybe it was the family of another restaurant owner or a group that wants to take a political stance at the expense of a new restaurant. E.g. "the chef was not Vietnamese" - one star. It seems unlikely that all of the reviewers actually ate at the restaurant. Hopefully, Google reviews doesn't devolve into a platform where we rate a place based upon a political stance or the politics of the owner. I want to know how delicious, clean and affordable a restaurant is, not whether a group wants to get together and make a statement by trashing a restaurant. Regardless, I ate there with my wife. The drinks were creative and the food had great flavor. We put this on a short list of places to revisit.
