Hmm. Sure a lot of things we liked about our visit here. The service was wonderful, friendly, and the vibe of this station, like the others was inviting and friendly. The food was well presented and looked great on the tray, albeit a tad pricey but not so much that it was bothersome. So the big complaint boiled down to one thing: the chicken rub was loaded beyond, no, make that WAY beyond the amount of salt one should expect in this lowly but tasty bird.
Now, I'm no sodium puss, nor is my wife, so don't assume that. I love to cook, and salt is *the* most essential ingredient that appears in all food, and I like plenty of it. Without it, great possibilities turn into simply sad dishes. But there's a point that's beyond acceptable. Unfortunately, on our visit, it was there and then some. Surely this is not the norm, so we're wondering what went awry on our visit. The meat was tender and juicy, just the right amount of heat in our medium version. But that first bite and thereafter was a painful experience akin to licking a salt block. Just sad. No thanks. Most of it went into the trash I'm sorry to say. Whatever had gone wrong that day, it also showed up in the sweet potatoes.
Note to whoever is watching over the process: great cooks taste, taste, taste, and then taste again. I can't believe anyone that tried the chicken on our visit would not have noticed this. I can only hope this gets resolved. Great concept, great spot with a fun vibe. Now get the food to match and all will be well, but for our visit, the sodium was clearly at a level that was unacceptable which is going to make it highly unlikely we'd even consider returning. Once burnt is aplenty in the restaurant business.
