The 16 Best Restaurants In Newport, Rhode Island - Newport - The Infatuation

"Some people might refer to Cate Blanchett as mother, but this pizza restaurant run by the Giusto team saves that esteemed title for their heirloom sourdough starter. It deserves the honor—airy and crisp with the right amount of bite, this crust is so good you’ll want to order one of their Roman-style pies, and a second basket of their sourdough bread for the table. Their appetizers are as good as the pizza, whether it's the punchy cacio e pepe garlic knots, preserved and tender calamari, or their creamy housemade burrata. Our favorite seat in the house is in the back, where you can see the view out the floor-to-ceiling windows, watch the action on the main floor, and peek into the goings-on behind the kitchen-facing bar." - danielle rose, carlo mantuano

You Don't Have to Help Clear the Table at a Sit-Down Restaurant | Bon Appétit

"Jessica Rosa, a server at a pizzeria in Newport, Rhode Island, appreciates when customers nudge dishes her way because, at five-foot-two, she sometimes can’t reach across tables; small, helpful gestures are welcome. Still, she cautions that presenting a leaning tower of saucy plates and cutlery often forces servers to take extra risk and mental load while juggling tasks for multiple tables, and reminds diners that letting staff clear is part of the service—“that’s what you’re tipping us for.”" - ByMaggie Hennessy

Mother Pizzeria - Review - Downtown Waterfront - Newport - The Infatuation

Pizza was very good and loved the sourdough. Was it worth the price? I don't think so. Service was outstanding! Our server was very kind and helpful. Would have ordered more but hard after paying $23 for a small pizza.

Google
Delicious food! Great staff and great atmosphere! Came around 3pm on a Sunday and the restaurant was getting crowded. Pizza was delicious. Super thin crust and very fresh tasting. Comparable to the pizza I’ve had all over Italy!

My husband (from RI) and I (from AZ), met during college in AZ working at a pizza place, so it was only fitting to have our rehearsal dinner at a pizza place, Mother Pizzeria far exceeded our expectations in hospitality, drinks, food, and ambiance! The food and vibe of the restaurant caused us to come back to try more just 2 nights after our wedding for a romantic date night and stroll from Hammetts Hotel, the manager Jess was greeting people in the front and immediately remembered, welcomed and congratulated us making our appreciation for this restaurant even greater! A must try!

Google
Good and great location. Food was good, but nothing overly special. Pizza was a little on the greasy side, but it was very good. Tried the 3 different oysters they offered to taste the difference, which was fun...but the cost made it hard to justify more. Family friendly and I could see it getting crazy busy...we timed it right and caught them before a rush.

Google
Mother has amazing food!! Wow I’m from out of town and this restaurant is definitely worth a try! Caesar salad and Margarita pizza were my favorites.

Google
The place is nice and contemporary, the staff is kind and helpful, the pizza has a very good dough, it's a shame that all the pizzas burn, both on top and on the base. We took 7 pizzas and all had the same problem. We also looked at those at the other tables and they all came out burnt, the tomato sauce was too acidic, the mozzarella was so-so.

Allan D.

Google
Had to try this establishment as I’ve heard great things. Let it be known, there oven is gas and I do prefer wood fired, however the dough was good enough to almost make up for it. Surprisingly, it appears to be a Neopolitan pizza, however the pizza had a nice crisp to the crust, not huge, just enough to not make it a soft typical Neopolitan style pizza. So credit to them for being different and the crust was also soft and light, very nice combination. Btw, we opted for a simple Margherita, which is a baseline for judging any Neopolitan style pizza. All in all, we would definitely go back.

Google
Everything from the apps, pizza, gelato, and service was great here! The Korean wings were nice and crisp. The Margherita pizza was so good that we ordered another. Gelato was so yummy with the salt and olive oil.

Yelp

Yelp
First person who sets the tone of your dining experience is the Hostess...she was rude and sassy, like she didn't want to be there. The Food Server was friendly, but we had to ask for a water refill. Why are crumbs or things floating in the water pitcher? Her reply was dismissive, instead of apologizing and replacing the water without making comments. It wasn't busy, but we had to request the check. You can view the cooks making your pizza. You can also view one of them checking their phone. Very unsanitary! Touch a personal mobile device, then touch food. A HUGE no-no! The pizza was ok, it was not great. Sourdough 12" pizza prices range $18-$25. Add'l toppings $3 each. Four salads on the menu: $14-$18. Restrooms were clean. This eatery is located in a prime spot near the Bus Depot and across the street from the wharf where cruise ship passengers catch the tender boat. Our visit was disappointing.

Yelp
Wood fired pizza that just falls short of the mark only because of the high prices. However, the pizza is outstanding. Stay away from the typical red and white pies and take a chance on something more creative here. The creativity these pies offer is first rate. By getting only the simple pies I know what I would be expecting. I had to change things up. It also helped my server surprised me with such a great pie. I told her to surprise me and she made the right choice, a pizza with carnitas, cotija, radish, and a bit of tomatillo sauce. It was the Conchito, their take on a carnitas taco in the form of a pizza. Simply, delicious. If I had more cash on me I would have tipped her more generously. Unfortunately, these are tough times. I think her name was Shelby. If I have her name right, bravo, you are awesome. There is a reason it was getting busy here as the clock turned noon.

Yelp
Having read great things and being a pizza lover, aficionado, we were off to Mother in Newport. They offer a special, half priced raw bar and drinks between 4-6 (M-F)...We tried 2 types of oysters--Ninigret Nectars and Aquidneck Cups. (Their attempt at homemade sauces fell flat. Very tomato paste based) They were magnificent but even with a discount--pricey. ($24 a dozen) Two other raw bar appetizers were different--Scallop Crudo (very small) and Pickled Calamari --not a fan. Calamari drenched in a very spicy marinara type of sauce. Didn't work for me or my wife. Meatballs--my specialty. They were very flavorful, but bready. Pan fried and not dropped in sauce. The ragu was poorly done--heavy, tomato pasty. Ceasar was good--could have been better with shaved parm and offering of anchovies. Now on to their specialty--PIZZA! The FAT TUESDAY. Crust-pizza was delicious. Toppings plentiful, various meats, prosciutto, etc. (Was dry--needed some EVO and a tad better pizza sauce.) Pasquales is my 10. This was 8. Drinks--you tell me...Grey Goose martini $16, Old Fashioned $14, Beer $8-9.

Yelp
We finally had the opportunity to visit Mother Pizzeria, and while the food was enjoyable, I would rate it at 3.5 stars if possible. The menu is small yet distinctive. Everything we tried was tasty, but we were hoping for more traditional and kid-friendly options. The service was excellent, with a wonderfully friendly waitress. The atmosphere was warm and inviting. I would return but not with my children.

Yelp
While this place seems bougie, it brings a feel of comfort and familiarity along with their unique ingredients. The Calabrian Luau was so good, sweet and spicy. The Bluefish dip was incredible, the house made potato chips brought the extra snap you need. Our bartender was helpful with the menu and made drinks quickly. Inside has a good amount of seating and is well lit. You can see the wood fired oven from inside too.

Yelp
Great spot that's convenient to some of the hidden parking around Newport. Very creative cocktails. Not a huge menu but some memorable items. We did the smoked bluefish dip and the pizza with the brussel sprouts (can't remember the name). Pizza is so well cooked. Great service and playlist! Very open and clean.

Yelp
Stumbled in here Place was poppin' I was hungry. Sat at the bar even though I don't really drink. I ordered water. lol I have to say: I was not expecting much What I got? Meatballs - delicious, house-made Then the "Cochito" pizza Oh my. I was NOT expecting the flavor profiles, the crunch, the creativity on a pizza was a revelation. Then I asked for some hot sauce, and my server brought me a house-made red hot sauce. bOMB! Fire! Well, my suggestion to you. Stumble in here. Uber here. Take a train, whatever. Like Nacho Libre said: "It's good. REALLY Gooooood."

Yelp
Wow! This is awesome! We were a tad hesitant given the VERY limited menu....only pizza and a few apps...especially with a picky party of 7!! But everything was sooooo good! The chopped salad was so delicious, it reminded me of Lou Malnatis in Chicago! The meatballs were delicious and we loved the sweet red sauce! The pizza was crispy, thin crust and again soooo delicious! Everyone loved it all!!! So much so we decided to stay for dessert! Which the gelato and sundae also off the charts!! The open space and kinda open kitchen open has a casual but trendy vibe! Check out this new spot! The service was perfect too! They were attentive and friendly!

Yelp
Takeout pizzas are top notch. But be forewarned that it comes in a square shape instead of a circle, which definitely confused me at first because it wasn't typical. Still, lots of extra sourdough crust, so it's tasty! The Fun Guy pizza was great! It had caramelized onion, smoked mozzarella, and tons of fresh mushrooms. They were very generous with the mushrooms. I added sausage for an extra charge of $4, but they really didn't put much on. The onions added a natural sweetness, so much so that there wasn't any red sauce, and the cheese and onions carried the flavor. Takeout was simple and easy, placed the order over the phone, and picked up within 20 minutes!

Yelp
Get out to Mother Pizzeria as soon as you can! We recently visited to celebrate a birthday. They accommodated a large group (8) easily, we made the reservation online. Everything we tried was excellent. The arancini, Korean fried chicken wings, margherita, white on top, Calabrian luau, and a make your own pepperoni and mushroom. The staff was friendly, professional and paid attention to the notes I added to the reservation in the app. I will be back soon!!

Yelp
Visited Newport for a long weekend and decided to try this place out for dinner. Honestly, it was one of THE BEST gluten free crusts I have ever had. I could immediately tell it was homemade and not just a frozen cauliflower crusts like most restaurants give. It was light and fluffy with a little crunch. I got a Margherita pizza with added pepperoni on gluten free crust. I literally couldn't stop eating it. The person I was with ordered the newton and added pepperoni they thoroughly enjoyed it and my mouth was watering looking at it. They put real fresh slices of fig on the pizza. To drink I had the espresso martini. Our waitress was very friendly and attentive. The inside was nice and they also had outdoor seating. I didn't save any room for dessert but looked like they had some nice gelato. Eating here is a MUST and I will definitely be back!

Yelp
I didn't particularly want to like Mother. As I said before we went after going to the elephant migration, "No one in the history of Newport or the history of pizza has ever said 'Let's go to Newport for pizza tonight." Add to that, Mother's is kind of a fancy pants Newport yuppie enclave kind of place. The kind that charges you for every soda that comes out of a can rather than having it on tap. Nice, professional, but kind of pretentious. Usually that's not a great setup for great pizza. That being said I was more than a little surprised. Mother only serves one style of pizza, margherita, and one size, 12 inches. So you're either going to order One for yourself or you're going to have to eat some appetizers. We went with the garlic knots and meatballs. I had reservations about both. I was correct about the garlic knots. Don't bother. Greasy, soggy, not very well cooked, not very good. The meatballs were actually tasty. There's only three in they are kind of small, but they are a decent size for one person to have as an appetizer or to share if you are having more than one. The meatballs were tasty. The sauce was great, fresh, Very tasty, and plenty of it. On the side was a piece of crust. Sourdough, seasoned, really the best thing I ate there over the whole visit. I could eat a whole crust of it with some of that yummy sauce. Then the pizza arrived. They say it is a sourdough crust but I didn't pick up any notes of that in the flavor. Also the crumb structure did not indicate to me that it was sourdough. If you compare it with Blue Square pizza, who are the best in the area at sourdough, you would know the difference. Nevertheless it was a very tasty crust. This was only evident on the back side because it was so thin in the middle and floppy that it really wasn't able to feature anything. The sauce, again was super on point. Delicious. The pepperoni was cup and char and spicy and perfect match for the pie. Fresh mozzarella on top. Margarita is not the style that I enjoy the most, And you had to eat half of each slice with a fork and knife because it couldn't hold itself up at all. But it was super tasty. I especially enjoyed the back end of the crust. I wish instead of margarita they made exactly the same pizza only the same thickness as the crust all the way through. That would be a home run and a five-star pizza. In the end it was worth the trip. It was expensive, it's a nice clean, yuppie contemporary restaurant. The meat balls and the pizza were great. There's not nearly enough seating inside. When you enter they tell you you can get it to go and sit outside which is kind of weird. Overall if you're in the area I don't think there's any better pizza around. Give it a shot and see.

Yelp
Mothers was a welcome sight after a long day of traveling. It is one of those upscale pizza spots that is good for families or date night... really any occasion. The roasted beet salad was good but I felt it was a small portion. The meatballs were flavorful. The sourdough pizza was phenomenal. Get the sausage or pepperoni... so good. I bet any pizza is probably good. They spacious interior too so if you have young kids it helps. We also didn't feel on top of other diners. Would for sure come back.

Yelp
Came with high expectations after seeing photos of the delicious looking pizzas and drinks, and boy did Mother not disappoint! The group of 8 of us tried the garlic knots (best Ive ever had!), korean BBQ wings (crisped to perfection), and a variety of pizzas (all of which were fantastic), as well as trying some of their fun cocktails (yumm!). The experience was a memorable one, as the ambience was clean and service was attentive but not pushy. We enjoyed a late Mothers Day, Mother lunch and had a wonderful time that we will look back fondly on. Already looking forward to going back for apertivo hour and some gelato!!

Yelp
Something about me is I'm gonna sneak out of an event to eat secret pizza, and recent gin-fueled shenans led me to Mother. I appreciated having access to by-the-slice action AND hot honey but I found the crust really tough. I switched to a fork & knife (I KNOWWWWW immediately discount my opinion) and couldn't saw through.Tough crust is a known risk of by-the-slice close to closing, so I fought the law and the law won.

Yelp
LOVE YOUR MOTHER! We went here last week, and it was great! I love giving new spots a try, and while sometimes it can feel like places need a bit of time to get their bearings, I think Mother is already off to a great start. With a menu that features a cavalcade of shareable small plates (I loved the fresh Mozzarella Sticks!), create-your-own charcuterie/cheese/cured fish boards, and of course, the pizzas, there's something for everyone at this convivial spot. Since I was dining with a group, we were able to order a few different items and share. While the Garlic Knots were just okay (I personally did not love the sauce they were tossed in), I adored both the N'Duja Croquettes (everyone is sleeping on N'duja, a spice-laden sausage spread. Do not sleep!), and the aforementioned Mozzarella en Carozza (fancy for Mozzarella Sticks :) was gooey, cheesy perfection. We also got some pizzas- the classic Margherita was a winner, simple and delicious, letting the light house marinara and locally sourced mozzarella shine, and the pesto sauced Nightshade was my favorite, with Rhode Island veggies. Pizzas serve 2 guests comfortably, or one ambitious and hungry person! BUT THE DESSERT. OMG. This was the highlight of the meal - the seasonal Peach Sorbet (which I fear will no longer be on the menu as we head into Fall, so get it while you can!) It literally tasted just like a peach - no weird artificial aftertaste or freezer burn ice crystals like you get in other sorbets. Truly amazing. We also tried the Mother Sundae, which was super fun, but the real star was the sorbet. I do love that they use fresh whipped cream, which more places should do. Anywho, I like it.

Yelp
Took my husband here for a birthday dinner without the kids. Upon arrival I was disappointed that our reservation was already incorrectly sat so we were sat at a different table. The table was so small and the next table was so close to the other table (a party of four YouTubers who took photos of each bite with a ring light) they actually had to move over so I could scoot by and sit down. Very uncomfortable to say the least. The. To top it off the next table sat was with toddlers so I had to share my dinner with someone else's kids. Now the food...that is another story. Absolutely amazing with each bite. We ordered the Cesar Salad and MargaritaPizza with pepperoni added. Wonderful with each bite. We ended with gelato with was tasty also. Note to self: Order Takeout
google avatar

Lyn S.

Yelp
Lo is a pretty great bartender/waitress, good co.pany at the bar top. Brussel pizza was great, I could have used a bit more bacon. But definitely worth going back.
google avatar

Jani M.

Yelp
I did not enjoy this restaurant. The service was okay. The drinks weren't the best. I had to change the pistachio drink for an espresso martini because it made my tongue feel weird (I do not have any allergies), and the pizza was all right. They make it with sourdough, and I don't see the hype. The garlic knots cost $8 for four, and as a New Yorker, that is wild. I would pass on this place and find pizza elsewhere. Oh, and a group came in after my family and I were served three pizzas and a salad before us. We only got a pizza and garlic knots, so I had no idea what that was about.

Yelp
Did a girls weekend to Newport and needed a place to eat and found Mother Pizzeria. Great food, super cute place and our waitress was so good especially recommending certain drinks and flavors!
google avatar

Vickie R.

Yelp
Being visitors of Newport, we asked the locals where the best pizza place was...all fingers pointed to Mother. Despite some of the negative reviews here on Yelp, we decided to go with our gut. Besides, most of the negativity seem to be due to lack of staffing and long wait times. We're on vacation...we were in no rush! When we arrived, we were greeted by a lovely hostess who directed us to a window seat and immediately we knew we had made the right choice. Not only was there no wait time (around 5:00pm), but there appeared to be plenty of waitstaff. Our table was clean and the menus had no sticky residue. I know this is a new restaurant, but that is a great start! Our appetizer Mozzarella Carrozza was absolutely delicious. HIGHLY recommend this dish! They came out piping hot! The light crispy seasoned breading was mouth watering and the mozzarella was amazingly tasty and fresh. Fantastic! We ordered a Caesar Salad to split, and we were both a little disappointed. The baby gem lettuce was fresh and crisp, but was saturated with dressing. I typically don't like to order caesars for fear of overly dressed salads, and this one was case point. My bestie did not appreciate it either, so we only ate less than a half, unfortunately. The homemade croutons were good though. The Margherita pizza was incredibly delectable. The sauce had great flavor, the mozzarella- again fresh, and the dough...perfection. Our pizza came out burnt on the top, but the bottom of the pizza was perfect. My bestie didn't mind the burnt crust, and I love everything burned just a little. I do feel like, if it were a different patron, they may complain about the burntness. It's an extremely light pizza...not terribly filling. Some would probably describe it as an artisanal flatbread. Our waitress was so friendly and pleasant, and checked on us a few times. All in all, a great experience and amazing pizza. The ambiance and cleanliness was top notch. Highly recommend!!

Yelp
Delicious food, excellent service, 10/10 :) Newton pizza is to die for. I would love to come back here to eat. Perfect for lunch or casual dinner
google avatar

Corkie B.

Yelp
Love the space, it's large and bright. The green velvet and marble are gorgeous. It is a great date spot but also it's casual. Great location as well. Service was good! Food was paced nicely, we were checked in with frequently. We had the garlic knots, mozzarella in carrozza and chop chop salad. They were all delicious. Probably good for 2-3 people to split. The Notorious F.I.G was SO GOOD. We also had The Nightshade and that was also really good. You can really taste the sourdough. The pizzas are not super thin so nothing got soggy, I feel like it would reheat well if you don't crush it in one sitting. I ended with a scoop of pistachio gelato and it was unlike any I've ever had because it had a wonderfully strong flavor of real pistachios. Delicious! I will absolutely be back
google avatar

Sar P.

Yelp
The pizza you get in the restaurant is thin crust and delicious 3.5/5 but the take out pizza is thick and horrible 0/5. I will give special mention to the hostess/manager because she provided excellent service and I'll be a repeat customer but never do takeout!
google avatar

Karen V.

Yelp
We got takeout. I had wanted to eat here for some time. We ordered pizza and salad. I have to say I was disappointed. Pizza was burnt on top. I really wanted to like it. The thing I will say is that I have issues with gluten and their pizza crust did not upset my issues.
google avatar

Margaret C.

Yelp
Let me start with the positives... The environment and atmosphere was great. All natural light and very modern. We were able to make a reservation the same day for eight people with no problems. The pizza was absolutely delicious. My husband actually said... This is the best pizza I've ever had. He's a big pizza buff. I also thought the pizza was great, the only issue was the service. I'm not sure if we had a new waitress, but she didn't have any answers to any of our questions. We had to ask for drinks several times. And one of our pizzas was never ordered. The manager did come over and did not charge us for the pizza and comped our appetizer. We were grateful for that because that did put a damper on the experience. I would definitely go back again. They also validate parking. I believe the first hour is free. Definitely give it a shot.

Yelp
Y is for why was the food so good U is for über-fast service M is for mounds of ambiance

Yelp
Good pizza is very subjective so when I ask a local where is the best pizza in town you never know if they are referring you to a relative. Well this local Newport resident did not steer me wrong. When we arrived we were pleasantly surprised to see a pristine modern restaurant. As you walked thru the door the aroma of freshly baked sour dough pizza crust permiated the air. Don't be fooled by the limited menu because each item is absolutely delicious. Tonight our craving was for salad and pizza. Originally we were going for a Caesar salad but our server suggested the chop salad so we switched our decision. It arrived looking very simplistic with a mix of small pieces of cheese, salami , pepper and red onions. I wasn't impressed until I scooped up my first bite. Wow the salad dressing with this combo was fabulous. The oven brick pizza arrived a little more burnt than the surrounding tables but I don't like to complain. Luckily the first bite of the sour dough crust out weighed it being burnt. The service alone deserves 5 stars with each of the staff being delightful. We will certainly return on our next visit to Newport!

Yelp
Very good choice for "midafternoon" lunch. We timed it just right! Got there a little after 1:00 pm on a Tuesday, just right after the lunch crowd so didn't have to wait for a table. Husband & I had the NARRAGANSETT CREAMERY BURRATA. (Forgot to take a picture) Delicious! A MARGHERITA pizza with pepperoni & olives added. Also very delicious! The fire oven crust was perfect! Both appetizer & pizza more than enough to share between 2 people. Definitely would try again if in the area.

Yelp
Over priced yuppy pizza. Killing time w my college age son while wife and daughter was touring the Elms Mansion. We had already toured the Breakers Mansion, and they also had a extra tour of the servants quarters in the Elms House. Yelp found this pizza place. Surprised first to have to pay for parking in a lot adjacent to a tiny outdoor mall area. We entered at the takeout area and read the board. We each had a Margherita pizza and a small can of soda. With tip this was $20, and we were asked to sit in the takeout area as the other area was for dine in customers. Warmed up slice was just okay. A little pretentious for a place empty in the upcoming winter season. But at least we killed some time waiting for family to finish Mansion tour. We bought some shirts at Jos Banks and walked down the street.
google avatar

Abigail G.

Yelp
Perfect menu- to the point not too long but a good amount of options. Arancini was amazing and the meatballs were great. Margherita pizza was amazing. "White on time" pizza was good but spicy. Not a bad spice- just not expected. Crust was good but the undercarriage was a bit floppy definitely had to use two hands for some slices. Good service- would've preferred a bottle of water on the table because the cups are on the smaller side but they did refill. Beautiful dining space and the bathroom was very clean. Fancy ambiance!

Yelp
Came here for dinner with two friends on a Saturday night and it was hopping. We had a reservation and we still had to wait around 15 minutes. The bar area is small but the restaurant itself is open and nice. I had a pineapple cider cocktail thatwas delicious and fun as they actually put it in the can and not a glass. For food I started with the cacio e Pepe garlic knots which were so good!!! My friends and I then shared two pizzas. We got the super Tuscan and then another that doesn't appear to be on the menu anymore. I really enjoyed their pizza. The dough was soft and the toppings were so flavorful. I'd definitely go back the next time I'm in town.
google avatar

Melissa M.

Yelp
The atmosphere is lively and modern, but the service is incredibly slow. We waited well over an hour for our pizzas, which were good but not worth that long of a wait. The garlic knots were certainly not worth the price tag, given the tiny size, and they did not have any special flavor to them. We had a very friendly server who did her best to make up for the delays in the kitchen, but the runner brining the food was rude and didn't talk any of the times she brought food over to our table.

Carolyn C.

Yelp
Amazing food !!! The pizza crust is incredible the meatballs and are so tender with a fresh and flavorful sauce. Welcoming staff !! Clean and fun environment!
google avatar

Shannon M.

Yelp
Good, but nothing special. I would completely pass on the tuna belly and mussels, and stick to cured meat and cheese. The Caesar was delicious and was probably my favorite item. The pizza had really crust and was baked well, however I was not feeling the broccoli on the super Tuscan at all. It made the pizza extremely bitter. We definitely will be returning to try something simpler like the margherita. The service, however, was great, and the decor was cute and very bright. It was surprisingly not super busy on a Saturday around lunchtime. It seemed like a lot of tourists came in as they spotted the restaurant walking through the area

Sourdough pizza is great! Not a lot of meat options though. Service is not so great. I would order to go or sit at the bar. The waitress gave us a lot of attitude when we asked to split the check. The atmosphere in the restaurant was nice. But it's just pizza. Take it to go.

Yelp
I'd like to think that I know about good pizza having tasted some of the best in New Haven, CT with guidance from my pizza pro husband. I booked a last minute getaway to Newport and drove past Mother Pizzeria on the way to my rental. After checking out their reviews I felt confident enough to give them a try. It was easy to make a reservation on their website. Upon arrival we were met with genuine appreciation and attentiveness. They offer mocktail options which allowed us to enjoy a couple of refreshing drinks while watching the sunset through their floor to ceiling windows. We ordered the garlic knots (you have to), the Caesar salad (just get it), and the Wham Bam Thank You Clam minus the 'Njuda (the name is as clever as the flavors of this pie). Everything tasted so fresh and delicious. The crust was baked to perfection. Still dreaming about the creaminess of the potatoes. We finished with a couple scoops of gelato and espresso. And they have a number of unique toppings including their homemade Mother sprinkles, which delivered a surprisingly flavorful crunch. If you have left a negative review for Mother Pizzeria it's likely because you took the wrong journey. Dine in and see (and taste) what you've missed!

Yelp
We went in and had big hopes! Inside feels like a college dinning hall. The cheese selection was great and cocktails were delicious. The pizza didn't feel like anything special to me. Don't sleep on the garlic knots

Yelp
Absolutely loved this restaurant a breath of fresh air with great food! Our hostess was sooo sweet and accommodating with our toddler. It was busy for a Friday night but I loved my daughter got to play outside while we waited which we didn't mind! The meatballs and fish croquettes soo good and pizza was gone in seconds! Hope to be back soon!

Yelp
I'm giving 3 stars review for a few reasons A.over priced I'm sorry but for the size of the pizza you get there it is definitely overpriced B. No refills on any of their sodas and the size of their soda is literally a joke C. Service was good overall but I highly recommend that the waiters learn the restaurant menu better, particularly the Italian words and not guess stuff out of their head. The restaurant look great and with great energy and the pizza tasted good.

Yelp
This review is long overdue but better late than never! Dinner was Devine in October 2023. We feasted on salad and pizza. We were a party of three, sitting at a window table, enjoying the bay, the ambience of this wonderful port town, the incredible artisan food, and most of all the warm welcome of being "at home". There are IMHO two restaurants in Newport that I shall continuously frequent and call my "home away from home". Mother Pizzeria and Guisto's

Yelp
Had to choose 1 star because 0 wasn't an option. Went there today to get a table outside. 2 tables were directly in the sun and 3 tables were in the shade but reserved for takeout? I asked if we could sit in one of the tables in the shade and was denied. Mind you, no one was waiting for takeout. We just left after asking multiple times for the shaded table. Who ever owns this place, is this really how you guys operate on a daily basis? Do not recommend and ya lost money from me today.

Yelp
Pizza was great! Service was fantastic and it was a real chill spot to hang out at. Had oysters, margarita pizza , prosciutto and wine. All of it divine. The pizza really hit the spot and the prosciutto was melt in your mouth perfectly sliced!

Yelp
(Eat-in menu; their take-out pizza is different.) Wonderful, accommodating service, and some of the most delicious pizza I've ever eaten (we got the margherita and fig/prosciutto pizzas). The crust is thin, crispy on the outside and chewy and tender on the inside (almost naan-like). Very highly recommended! Sit outdoors if you plan on having dinner, as the view is lovely.

Yelp
Had two Fantastic appetizers--garlic knots and burrata with grilled peaches. Delicious! Pizzas were decent but were overshadowed by the delicious apps.

Yelp
Painfully slow takeout order. A manager watched the cashier struggle with the POS system. Did nothing but chat with a waitress while the line grew, and grew. The old, dry slice was $8. For a slice of stale pizza. I'm serious. I have to wonder if they ever eat their own product

Yelp
Wow! Best brick oven pizza ever. So excited to have found them. Quality ingredients that make you stop between bites as to savor the taste. Small bites of curry mussels and pickled calamari a must. Sophisticated modern casual atmosphere. Not a traditional pizza joint decor. Service from GG was amazing. attentive and knowledgeable of wine and food ingredients were appreciated. Can't wait to return.

Yelp
2 stars for service not the host but the server. Seriously pizza served was burnt and not hot how on earth could that be the oven was only a few feet from where we were seated. Caesar salad was just amateurish at best. Even the soda was flat no offer of water. Tried to find some reason to ever go back but couldn't find one. Find another place just not worth it.
