"Originally hailing from New York City, Mother’s Ruin is a cocktail bar on East 6th Street with a food menu that runs until 1:30am nightly, making this a prime spot for late-night bites and drinks. They also have brunch seven days a week until 4pm, meaning you never have to go a day without a mimosa." - nicolai mccrary, matthew jacobs

I would’ve given this place five stars, but it’s opening weekend and the service was not on par as I’m sure it will eventually become. You must order from the bar first for any food or drink. Once you receive your food, then the waiter will be back around to check on you. Trying to get a hold of the bartenders is a little bit of a hassle, but I’m sure they’ll figure this out as they go. My family and I ordered the spicy chicken sandwich, the falafel burger, and the double mothers burger with fries Along with an order of queso and chorizo. All of the items were really tasty however, the spicy sandwich was not very spicy. We ordered one of the cocktails called juice box and it was refreshing and light. Will definitely try more of the drinks at another time, but today was just a trial run. I enjoyed the atmosphere of the bar. It was very laid-back during SXSW weekend and for it being opening weekend didn’t disappoint. The decor was very minimal and easy-going just like any hometown bar should be. The restroom is definitely on point and clean and open to all genders with individual doors. I definitely will be making this my go to bar and recommend it being a good pregame stop.

A cool new place on the east side. We stopped in for a late lunch. The brussel sprouts were delicious, as were the fish tacos and the smash burger. Our bartender, Ruby's, served us tasty drinks. We'll be back.

So excited to have this bar in the neighborhood! The drinks were on point—I had a Juice Box (gin) and a Confetti (watermelon and rum), both were great. The food was way better than I expected, and the fact that I can get wings until 1:30 AM? Huge win. The vibe was super fun—at one point, the bartender was literally walking on the bar, pouring shots straight into people’s mouths. I honestly didn’t expect to love it as much as I did, but I will definitely be back soon.
