Wander into this dark, chilled-out bar space (great for nursing a hangover) and order the McMother’s, an everything bagel with white cheddar, a fried egg, and sausage, plus rosemary duck fat tater tots with salsa libre. Other highlights include its chilaquiles, served with a choice of adobe chicken or tri-tip, and the French toast on challah with apples and rum. Open without fail until 2 a.m. daily, Mother’s Ruin is mostly straightforward in its drink offerings, including beer, wine, and shots, but goes a little outside of the box with its rotating list of cocktails, which include mezcal negronis and specials like a frozen paloma made with five-chili molasses.
