Where to Eat Gravy Slathered Poutine in Metro Detroit

"Three words: Duck. Confit. Poutine. Oh, plus a fried egg, to achieve the pinnacle of gooey, sloppy, and savory perfection. Rock City’s rendition of the Canadian gravy fries came with the popular eatery when it moved from Hamtramck to Midtown, and some Hamtramckans have been desperately missing it ever since." - Mickey Lyons, Eater Staff

**We arrived at the hotel two hours after check in and our room wasn't ready yet so our meal was comped by the hotel.** The waiter and bar staff were incredibly friendly and helpful. I had the Grilled Chicken Caprese. It was delicious. Prices seemed to be around the standard for downtown Detroit.

I haven't posted a review in some time, but I felt compelled to review this place after a visit this morning. I'll start by saying that I didn't even stay in the hotel that this restaurant is in (Doubletree Suites) - I stayed at the Cambria down the street. Despite this and the fact that my colleague and I are here FROM Buffalo for the Bills vs Lions game, the staff was very welcoming and friendly. Our server, Deneen was awesome and made sure that we had everything we needed, while listening to me go on about Bills Mafia. The food was pretty good, and I was so eager to start eating that I forgot to take photos. The prices are resonable, and I will definitely be coming back here if I get the chance in my travels. GO BILLS

Google
I've dined here a couple of times while staying at the Doubletree. The servers are friendly and do a good job checking on you. The food was pretty good as well. It could use some more seasoning but overall not bad.

Google
I stayed in the Doubletree hotel and there wasn't really another breakfast option close by. The actual restaurant was closed for some reason, with a sign noting that you could order the same menu to-go from the MCK counter, so I did. As with everyone else I interacted with in the hotel, the service was curt and not very friendly. It took a while for the dish to be made, which I then took up to my room to eat. The steak was poor quality but at least wasn't overcooked. Eggs were rubbery and didn't seem fresh. Potatoes were completely inedible and tasted terrible. It ended up being a small morning snack that was better than nothing, and had this not been a company travel expense I would have been upset wasting my own money on it. I also ordered a Sbux latte which was so scalding hot that it took almost an hour to cool to a reasonable temperature and by then I didn't get a chance to drink much of it.

After a long night, we walked into the DoubleTree hotel and were immediately met with Michaela’s contagious energy at the café. When we sat down at Motor City Kitchen, Johnny greeted us with a warm smile and filled our glasses with water, and Francis, who has worked there for half a decade, made the experience truly superb. As a local Detroiter, I don’t stay at the hotel, but I’ll definitely be back just for this place. The atmosphere and hospitality were outstanding—I felt right at home. I highly recommend stopping by, and if you get the chance, have a conversation with Francis—she’s great! Bonus points for their mimosas!

I’m a long time Hilton user I’m stuck working from my hotel room and I needed lunch today. Just had one of the absolute best hot chicken sandwiches. It was so good. Not to mention getting a grape. Faygo made it even better. Great job thank you.

Google
Great food. Kim our server was absolutely awesome. Highly recommend. Great breakfast.

Google
I was highly disappointed with the service and atmosphere of this restaurant. I came here late during dinner to get some food, and it took 20-25 minutes for our server to acknowledge us at the bar. I consider ourselves lucky as there were people who had to wait even longer than us to be acknowledged. After another 20-25 minutes of waiting for the food, we finally received it. The food was average at best, and the bar area was filled with fruit flies. The flies would constantly land on our food and the glasses that we drank from, in which eventually we couldn't even eat our food anymore. The server and the other staff were arguing in front of people and after I asked for the check I received no check after waiting for another 15 to 20 minutes to which I was fed up. It took me walking out to get any quick attention from the server who seemed to be very agitated after explaining the poor service and atmosphere. Hopefully management can change some things because I have NEVER had an experience this bad eating anywhere. Would not recommend eating here.

Yelp
Very few food options around the hotel. So this restaurant is the main food spot if you are staying at the double tree fort Shelby. The restaurant has a nice ambiance. I ordered the wings. They are baked then fried. They give you four pieces of the whole wing. They were cooked all the way. Baby carrots and chopped celery. The sauce taste like a light hot sauce. Not much flavor. I would get extra sauce on the side or bbq sauce. Something thicker. That would coat the chicken better. That was about $17. I also had the salmon. It was a little overcooked but they gave me a good portion. Other than that they were very accommodating. Would have to try something else next time.

Yelp
The food was ok. Got the steak omelette they gave a lot of meat not enough peppers. I also dont like when my egg looks thick like this but it was ok. Potatoes were nice and seasoned very well.

Yelp
Restaurant has nice ambiance. I had the Denver omelette (pictures and was just ok). My daughter had the bacon, egg and cheese English muffin sandwich. She really enjoyed it (sorry no pic) and great value. Service was very quick.

Yelp
Walked into the restaurant and was told to sit anywhere. We sat down and then waited 20 minutes to just get a drink order. After another 20 minutes we went to the bar to ask if they could take out order. They sent over a gentleman who I thought was the manager and he took our order. You will never believe the next sequence of events. But you can't make this stuff up. We ordered a side salad, shrimp cocktail and a porterhouse steak. 23 minutes went by and someone from the kitchen came out to tell us it would take a half hour to cook the steak so we could order something else. I told them I placed my order 23 minutes ago so it should be ready in 7 minutes. He told me he would have to check the ticket time. I said that's fine. But in the mean time you can get our salad and the shrimp cocktail. I then asked for them to deliver it to my room. While they did give us a discount, and we did get our meal about 25 minutes later at our door ( they knocked and left) the food was good. Not sure what all the drama was about. Training is necessary!!! The bar tender with two people at the bar could have come taken our order. The "manager" standing behind the bar could have taken our order 30 minutes earlier. Or maybe the server should have taken our order instead of cleaning the six dirty tables she had.

Yelp
If I could leave .5 /5 stars I would. And the .5 would only be for the amazing woman who bartended this previous Friday night / Saturday afternoon. Tonight we visited the bar again from our hotel for food. The male bartender was extremely rude and barely wanted to take our order. We did sliders / Brussels sprouts. A girl brought out our food and we then had to wait for silverware. As we waited a swarm of gnats / flies / bugs started showing up from behind the back bar , all on the counter , all over the food. As we're fanning flies away the cooks from the back come in and start arguing with the bartender it' was truly too much. The male bartender was unapologetic and extremely unprofessional as are the cooks. They truly have a gem in the black woman who bartenders but other than that they should shut down immediately.

Yelp
I'm glad I waited until after my second visit here to post my review because I had two completely different experiences. The food was good both times (you can't really mess up eggs & potatoes haha), but they service experiences couldn't be more night and day. My first breakfast there, I waited at the hostess desk for awhile before anyone even noticed to seat me. Then once I was sat, the server didn't come over for awhile again, and then never followed up or checked in on me again until it was time to get my check. Also, it took foreverrr to actually get my meal, even though they weren't busy at all, and it was a simple order. My next breakfast there, the service was fantastic. Shout out to Debbie who is just phenomenal at her job! She took my order right away, checked in on me numerous times and refilled my beverages, and had the food out super quickly! It seemed like I was at two different restaurants those days. The food is pretty standard l, but if you want to be blown away by the service, request to be in Debbie's section!

Yelp
The customer service here is Horrible. I have never been to a restaurant where the waitress never introduced herself to your table. I most certainly never been to a restaurant that never offered water or drinks. This restaurant and its staff have a lot to be desired. We had a party of 6 people and had to flag down a waitress just to get something to drink, we didn't even know if she was our waitress. We ended up leaving without even ordering!! Strangely enough I visited this restaurant years ago in 20 years and it was not this bad! Just

Yelp
This is a hard review to write. I had their breakfast while I stayed in the doubletree. It's a buffet style that costs about $14. Thankfully I'm a Hilton honors gold member which means you can opt for a free breakfast. They have a lunch special in the round bar that is a burger, chips, and a pop/beer for $10. The burger is definitely a pre pressed frozen patty. Ordered it medium and it came well done. I asked about adding bacon to it and was told it would $4 extra! Crazy. I wanted fries instead of chips, another $2 was added. My coworker grab an $8 bowl of Mac n Cheese. This was the most ridiculous bowl of Mac n cheese I think I've ever seen. I would probably not eat there again. Other than my free breakfast.

Yelp
My husband ordered the deconstructed BLT and it was great! I had the steak - it was FAN.TAS.TIC Great food - Excellent Service!

Yelp
The food and service was excellent. Manager took time to check if everything is good. The server took time to refill our drink on time and the food come out quickly than we expected. Our kids was happy and enjoyed the food so that's always a plus. Thank you and we will be back again soon.

Yelp
Formerly Finn & Porter, this restaurant is located inside DoubleTree in downtown Detroit. There's a restaurant dining side and the Round Bar side that shares the same menu. Most things still look the same as they haven't gotten new signs yet. They did get a new menu, which is how I found out about the new name. They should give their menu a makeover because the font they picked for the menu makes it difficult to read. Round Bar still has happy hour, but raise the happy hour (5p-7p) beer price to $4, which is still a great bargain. They have 10 new craft beers on tap, including local and non-local, like Bell's Oberon. They also have $5 appetizers like meat balls, stuffed jalapeño, and pot stickers. Happy hour isn't listed on the menu, but you can ask the bartender about it. The portion of all the main dishes is small, but perfect for me since it means I have room for dessert. They also have 10" pizza starting at $8 on the menu. POT STICKERS - $5 during happy hour - Pan fried and slightly crispy on the outside. Served with a side of sweet and sour sauce. Good meaty filling, I approve. SHRIMP SCAMPI PAPPARDELLEL - $22 - 4 giant meaty shrimps, tomatoes and nicely cooked wide flat pasta noodles. There is no sauce, but I like my pasta that way. Expensive, but good. LOBSTER BISQUE and SCALLOP - $19 -I enjoyed this dish as it has a few things going on. The pastry in the middle, huge deliciously cooked scallops, and a medley of vegetables.

Yelp
We've been sitting for 15min and no one has spoken to us... Other people are experiencing similar, meanwhile there is no order to anything they're doing.

Yelp
Stopped here for a quick bite before a Red Wings game. The location is great because it's so close to Joe Louis arena! Unfortunately that means it's crazy busy before the game. Service was very slow because the restaurant was packed but I doubt this is the norm. But I will add that our waiter was super friendly to make up for it. The food itself was pretty good. I had a chicken sandwich, which was really good. The bun was soft and the chicken was moist and flavorful. The chips that come with it were soggy, which was a little disappointing. Overall, I was pretty satisfied. If they could staff according to sports events it would make it that much better and would be 4-star worthy.

Yelp
Really a mixed review. Kitchen was closed, but the Round Bar was open and servicing. Bartender/Server Kevin was awesome even with he seeing to the needs of the whole room- in front and from behind the bar. We ordered a salad and the "Ancient Grain Mushroom Risotto." Both were delicious... however. I have never eaten risotto before. We did not receive the risotto mentioned above, we were served their Mushroom Risotto... but without mushrooms. Kevin fixed that immediately and left the floor to report the missing mushrooms to the kitchen. But, the risotto we were served was made with orzo pasta...not rice and definitely NOT Ancient Grains... also none of the advertised feta or parmesan flakes. Yes, we are it, but the discount arises from the fact that I wanted to try something that I had never had before. The menu item I wanted was it; the mis-prepared, bland, "regular" pasta dish I was served was not.

Yelp
This restaurant is right by my work so when I saw the Groupon I figured I'd try it out. Read some pretty bad reviews and was a little nervous. Our server was very pleasant and recommended the Fried Chicken Sandwich, which came on a pretzel roll and was topped with bacon! Upgraded to fries for 2 bucks, so the sandwich was $15 all together. The Groupon was for $30 and cover the entire bill! No complaints, will def return.

Yelp
Food's too high and that cook good Nice waitresses though But the price is just too high the quality of foods not cook good

Yelp
Staying at the Doibletree we decided to eat here for breakfast. Day1 (7/2/18) I ordered eggs Benedict. It was delicious, however the yolk was cooked all the way and the potatoes that came with it were luke warm. My daughter ordered pancakes with a side of potatoes. She said her pancakes were amazing but potatoes not warm. Day 2. It took 25 minutes for eggs Benedict and I was the only person in the restaurant. I ordered a side of fruit this time. But the eggs Benedict didn't taste the same as it had they day before. The hollandaise sauce was a weird color with no flavor. And the one of the eggs was already broken. There were two waitresses who were attentive, however one was clearly more knowledgeable than the other. Twice at that restaurant was enough for us. Too bad though, because it's in a good location being in the hotel.

Yelp
So the menu seems to change often because everything that was offered on Yelp is no longer available as of Jan 2016, so we couldn't get anything we saw online. We got the street tacos which were average but good. We got the chicken tenders, extremely average, and the tater tots which were pretty good. Staff was nice and polite and very helpful.

Yelp
The breakfast buffet is the quick, casual selections just like an American Breakfast in a European hotel! Cereal bar, juice bar, fresh fruit selections, French paStry, scrabbled eggs, bacon, sausage, homemade potatoes, French toast, yogurt, toast selections, and an assortment of daily goodies! Top that with an excellent pot of coffee at your table! Service is outstanding!

Yelp
Purchased the Groupon voucher 30 bucks we love to try new spots. The restaurant itself only open during breakfast hours then you eat in bar area. Only one other table at noon having food. She ordered a Double special house burger came with house made chips, me the daily special sandwich Patty Melt on RYE bread with fancy cheese n Grilled Onions. She had a Maurice Salad, I added Bechemel Macaroni n Cheese with Deep Fried Battered Cauliflower. The Burger totally no flavor had to be frozen patties on a fake brioche bun. The most disappointing Maurice Salad ever. My FAKE RYE BREAD was White Bread Why???? See photos. The outrageous flavorful Cauliflower and OMG Macaroni n Cheese mind blowing great. Super waitress on her game. They need new bread supplier. So get this one Burger, One Patty Melt, One Salad, One Mac, One Cauliflower, one Coffee and one Tea $ 75 dollars are you serious for lunch and the house Chip's terrible. The worst ever Groupon voucher we ever purchased. DISSATISFACTION now we know why it's empty at lunch hour. #motorcitykitchen #roundbardetroit #fakeryebread #downtowndetroit #detroit #letsguide #motorcitymunchers

Yelp
Awesome place and nice pre-game hangout. Get down here and check it out! Service is excellent and they make great Mojito's.

Yelp
Our server was new and friendly. Because I had surgery three weeks ago I'm unable to eat much that isn't considered "soft" and I can only eat 1/4-1/2 cup of whatever. Their menu is very limited. I asked if I could order the blackened Mahi Mahi, just the fish. My server asked the manager who was willing to do that but still wanted to charge me $19. Customer service at its worst, to me. My husband and boys stayed (after 5 long hours getting here they were hungry!) but I went back to the room and ate the applesauce I brought. My family said the chicken tenders and salad were just okay. We are here four days and will not be returning to the Round Bar again.

Yelp
I went to Motor City Kitchen (MCK) with a large group for Sunday Brunch. MCK is located in the Doubletree Hotel in Downtown Detroit. It is a very cute restaurant with a live DJ, who was the bomb. He even took requests. And of course, because it's Detroit, there is a just enough space to get your hustle on. ;) The brunch was buffet style with a made-to-order omelette bar. The food options included salad, turkey/pork breakfast sausage, bacon, fried catfish, fried/baked chicken, greens, macaroni and cheese, waffles, grits, potatoes, and an assortment of various desserts (i.e. cheesecake, key lime pie, brownies). I'm a soul food kinda gal so the options were welcomed. Unfortunately, the food was not warm enough inside of the food holder things. In particular, the waffles were cold and hard (before they brought out a new batch). I thought most of the food was generally well seasoned; however, I was a bit disappointed with the chicken. The dessert bar had tasty treats - I wish there were more of the small cheesecake bites though! Our server was attentive, which was appreciative due to the large number that was in my party. The reason for the 3 star rating is that I was not blown away by any of the options on the bar. Food was good, but wasn't to run and tell about. I also was disappointed in that the food was not hotter. I would definitely go back and try it again!
google avatar

tomico J.

Yelp
I came for brunch and first off they are losing a star because they make you wear a wrist band. Once you pay they add gratuity and you have a option for mimosas or not. This is such a classy place however the wrist bands don't fit the part. We didn't make RSVP but they were so kind to find a table to accommodate my party of 5. The omelet bar is good, the buffet is good... the music is great!!! The only issue was the dessert.. cheese cake was the only option. This is s little pricey so this would be a special occasion place only!!!

Yelp
Went here after the 2016 auto show. Yum, yum, yum! I got the turkey avocado club with homemade chips and a side house salad. (every meal comes with homemade chips and a local pickle but they have several substitutions such as a fresh fruit bowl)The roasted tomato on the club was so yummy--just the tomato will make me come back. Portions were perfect and everything was super flavorful! We had a 5 year old with us and the menu isn't kid friendly so they brought us a special serving of mac & cheese from another restaurant and/or as a special request from the kitchen--not sure but either way the wait staff was nice and accommodating. Drink menu was cool and easy to read.

Yelp
horrible service, mediocre food and outrageous prices! We stayed at the Hilton Doubletree and decided to head to this eating establishment to grab a beer and dinner before the hockey game. The place was about 1/4 full. We sat at the bar for 15 minutes before someone greeted us and asked us what we would like. We finished our beers and waited another 20 minutes before the bartender checked with us. We returned to the establishment after the hockey game. It was full and busy. The bar was a mess. It was obvious that the staff could not keep up nor did they know what they were doing. David, Manager and 3 staff members also with name tags saying David. When asking the female waitperson if her name was David she indicated no. Her Manager had not ordered a name tag for her. This time we sat there for 20 minutes while bar staff just walked by us, not acknowledging that we were there. When asked to make a Sex on the Beach, the bartender asked is that a wine cooler. We had to tell her how to make the drink. I ordered a hot toddy and it was served in a regular glass that you could not hold as it was hot. I witnessed several people walk out of the restaurant after waiting over 40 minutes to be served. I watched David, the manager try to remove a cork from a bottle of wine that a guest brought down to open he did not have a win opener. Me broke the cork in half and then pushed the remaining cork into the wine. Needless to say we avoided this restaurant during our stay. DON'T GO THERE you will REGRET it

Yelp
Never again; bad service, horrible pizza! I was brought here by a friend who had flown into the city and specifically wanted to treat me to pizza at a place she previously visited and enjoyed, was actually raving about. So... Here's my not so rave review. The "award winning mixologist" Matthew who was introduced to us that way by (apparently the manager on duty) David, did not know his menu too well as we asked for his affirmation of ingredients on a specific pizza, and when pizza came out it was without Mozzerella cheese, which we specifically asked for. So Matthew took it back saying kitchen would make a new one. Nope! Kitchen added cheese atop original and rebaked the pie, which meant we were served and ate a dry cardboard pizza. The manager, David, did not seem to care, as we asked for a moment of his time to explain our displeasure, he brushed us off with his BS fake personality walked away and ignored us. Oh and the "award winning mixologist" Matthew, handles his bar glasses by the rims with his hands!
google avatar

Nate P.

Yelp
It's all about Dave and his tap selection. Best list of local brews in town with an approachable, gregarious waitstaff to boot. Can't go wrong in this part of the city.
google avatar

Yelp
Motor city kitchen has amazing food and some of the most personable staff in Detroit. I live in the apartments, on top of the hotel, and eat here 4 times or more per week because the food is superb. Last time I asked if they could make something off the menu and they brought out a gyro dish with rice and broccoli that was to die for. David from management and the service team go out of their way to make the customer feel special, which keeps me coming back. Due to my experiences over the last 3 months i always recommend the restaurant/bar to friends that visit the city. Guests of the hotel, red wings fans, or anyone visiting the business district should come down for the amazing food and drinks.

Yelp
Located in the Fort Shelby building, the Round Bar and Motor City Kitchen have a great vibe. You'll always find a great mix of out-of-town travelers, residents of the building, and locals sitting at the bar talking about the next great thing happening in Detroit. It's really a great place to learn what's going on around town, make new friends, have great drinks, and eat from a wide variety of menu choices. I recommend making this a regular stop when you're going out downtown. We tend to stop in before going out for a drink and dinner, then again afterwards for a nightcap. Take the time to talk with the staff and the people around you. I think you'll be surprised how much of a "Cheers" atmosphere this place has. If you're into cocktails, try one of the special concoctions. if you're into beer, they have a great beer list that changes often. Also solid wine selection, including some gems that are off the beaten path. Food... I'm hooked on the cobb salad, lobster penne, and fish and chips, depending on my mood. Don't hesitate to ask the staff for recommendations... they're super helpful. See you at the Round Bar!
google avatar

Ron F.

Yelp
I would say overall, eh, it's a hotel restaurant bar... Some shining points are: Great draft beer selection tons of local craft options Good happy hour - 4-7 (I believe...) $4 Drafts, and $5 apps Really friendly staff - good for conversation or a laugh, genuinely all seemed like really good people Duller points: Not very good service. By this I only mean promptness. I sat down at the bar even, and it was too long before anyone talked to me. And by beer glass was empty for too long before I was asked for another. This was after a hockey game, so they were clearly understaffed. It seems like something that should be pretty easy to predict though since they deal with hockey games all the time, and I think they publish the game schedule fairly far in advance. Had a cobb salad... have had much better, very eh... no egg, small, but not overly dressing-ed, which is good. I'm sure I'll continue to go there for a beer... I'm going to have to be pretty tired though to eat there again during this trip.

Yelp
Against my better judgement, went back here after a terrible experience the first time and could not be more pleased. Service was impeccable, great beer selection and food was top notch. Fish and chips...perfectly cooked and not greasy. Croissant bread pudding was phenomenal.

Kali E.

Yelp
Came to this restaurant because I was staying at the double tree and it was easy. The waiter was very professional. The White Beam Chicken Chili was good. The Mushroom Risotto is so good. Definitely worth a visit if you're nearby!
google avatar

Josh G.

Yelp
Entree portion was smaller than most appetizers. Was still hungry so ordered some chicken strips to go. Saw someone bring in a bag and drop it off at the bar. 15 minutes went by before my server noticed that was my order then he picked up the bag and walked out of the bar with it. Probably to reheat it. Get to the room and it's four tiny pieces of chicken and a small lump of something that looks like cabbage. Gross.

Yelp
The hot breakfast bar is not worth $17.00 per person. Cold fresh toast & stale bacon. Good grits and sausage.

Yelp
May have to take an extended lunch to eat here. Service is good but slow, food a bit over priced for me. Not a big selection on lunch menu. Used to serve the best sushi but the sushi man left.

Yelp
This bar is so chill, great for watching the game!! Great beers on tap and fresh herb drinks!

Yelp
Hotel is great. This place... Not so much. Inattentive and lackluster. Get an Uber and find a better place to dine.

Yelp
Worst experience ever. Would not recommend. Would never go back. My wife and I were in town for the concert and decided to dine at the hotel afterwards instead of finding a restaurant. We were in the restaurant for an hour and in that time managed to get our own menus and were served a glass of water right before we left. The place had but a couple of tables of people and a couple people at the bar when we arrived. We sat ourselves after waiting for 5 minutes at the empty hostess station and finally asking if they were open and serving food. That should have been our cue to leave. Instead we waited at our table for 20 minutes with no service and got up and got menus. During that time we asked for service and a manager 3 times to no avail. Steadily the place filled up and it went from bad to worse. After an hour the manager who was behind the bar the whole time finally came over to ask what was wrong. Long story short, we got our food to go, the food was comp'd, and we went back to our room. To top it off we ordered basic chicken tenders and fries and it was barely edible and we were starving. Whatever sauce they put on the chicken was overly spicy and tasted bad like cafeteria food. And the food is not inexpensive. Terribly unorganized. No one appeared to know what they were doing. Lack of organization, lack of management, and terrible customer service. Nobody owned anything and we were left to fend for ourselves. Unfortunate because the hotel was great and this reflected very poorly on it.

Yelp
On 12/4/16, my girls, party of 5 headed here as a last result due to the Bridge being closed. We ran into a small issue. We had to pay at the bar and their prices went up since the last time we visited a couple months ago. I think they may have had some issues with people not leaving a tip so you have to pay the tip up front. Since there was a party of 100 the seating was limited. They managed to squeeze us in. Besides that the food was great! If you are looking for a place to "treat yourself" this is it. I wish I was there right now!!!!

Yelp
We were thrilled that we stumbled upon this place. The drinks here are awesome sauce. The bartender knew what he was doing and everyone was so friendly. These folks love the city and it showed. We got great recommendations on our weekend in the city.

Yelp
A group of of us payed a visit to the Round Bar to grab a few drinks and something to eat. I noticed that the menu had Poutine on it. I asked the bartender if the item was made with real Poutine gravy and real cheddar curd. She said "yes it is". So we ordered two. When the appetizers were delivered, we were disappointment that we paid over $9.00 for each one and all we got was a small order of fries with bacon, three slices of jalapeño's, a couple of pieces what I assumed to be cheese curd. There was no Poutine sauce at all. If the menu say Poutine, then Poutine is what I expect. My overall opinion of the menu. It looked like a menu that was put together by a chef who needs to actually go back to culinary school and this time pay attention. The menu looks really sad. I am very disappointed with the direction the restaurant has headed. P.s. And why in the world would a hotel bar close at ten o'clock? It's just sad. Nothing more to say.

Yelp
The bourbon onion burger was awesome! As was the chicken sandwich. Little pricey but good quality. Very friendly server.

Yelp
Dave, the manager, is the most gracious host! He directed me to the brussel sprouts which are OUT OF THIS WORLD--the best I've ever had--I don't know what they put on there to make a vegetable so delicious--and I'm a Chicago girl, so I know food. I can't describe them. You just need to try it. The blakened salmon was also delicious--very moist and flavorful. And they have an excellent wine and beer selection. The atmosphere is great, too! All around an awesome bar/restaurant. A real gem in downtown Detroit. You need to check it out.

Yelp
I have eaten several times at the Motor City Kitchen in the Doubletree. First, the beer selection is great. They have approximately craft 20 beers on tap, mostly domestic. Very good. The staff is very helpful and friendly regardless if its lunch or dinner. The food is good for both variety and flavor. I have had a Cobb salad, gumbo, chicken cavatopi, roasted Brussel sprouts, hamburger and fries. All of it was very good with quick service. This is a great restaurant for lunch or dinner and from what I hear, the breakfast is good too. Prices are reasonable for a hotel.

Yelp
I'm so disappointed with this salad. 15$ for a salad this size is absolutely ridiculous and they should be beyond ashamed for charging this much. "The chopped" is iceberg lettuce, not romaine hearts and the dressing is so bland it might as well just have been plain. Please don't order the salads from here. If I weren't staying here I would have sent it back. It's the worst salad I've ever had! And I've eaten a lot of salads.

Yelp
Staying at the doubletree and we stopped in to have a pre dinner beverage. All I can say about the service is...fantastic. They were knowledgeable and so much fun, exactly what you want from a bar! We loved the beer flights, you get to pick your 4 choices for only 8 bucks!!! The manager came over and was chatting with us. Felt so welcome we will be back!!

Yelp
My service was soooo much better than when they were Finn & Porter. I went for the brunch buffet both times. Food was delicious, mimosas was awesome and unlimited. I think my highlight was the music playlist by the DJ though. I knocked off 2 stars for price for the selection. It was a $50 for brunch, unlimited mimosas, tip.

Yelp
I had a great time on a recent visit to the Round Bar. Dave made me a delicious refreshing cocktail with basil, grapefruit and vodka. It was so refreshing and tasty and reminded me of a cocktail I had at home in New York. Everyone at the Round Bar was so friendly and it was a fun atmosphere. I will definitely return on my next visit to Detroit.
