Mott 32 is located next to JW Marriott Seoul, so it is recommendable for hotel guests who want to have Chinese dishes. (Manho, the Chinese Restaurant in the hotel does not exist any longer)
The restaurant specializes in Cantonese Cuisine and the name is after the address (32 Mott Street) of the first CVS in New York in year 1891.
It is being managed by Josun Hotel.
The ambience is exotic in Hong Kong style.
The most beloved menu is the Peking Duck (160K) which available upon pre-order only.
It is, not greasy but light, very delectable and the extra order for the Stir-fried meat with lettuce (21K) or fried rice (21K) is also recommended.
The signature course menu is Hong Kong and Seoul course (each at 190K KRW for 2 person)
* Signature Hong Kong
- Soft Quail Egg, Pork, Black Truffle Siu Mai
- Hot & Sour Shanghainese Soup Dumplings, Scallop, Prawn
- Prawn Cheng Fan, Crispy Rice Paper, Vegetable
- King Prawns, Chinese Rice Win, Vinegar Chili
- Alaskan King Crab Casserole, Crab Roe, Vermicelli: It is too bland
- Seafood Black Truffle Fried Rice
* Signature Seoul
- Marinated Jellyfish, Celtuce, Aged Balsamic Vinegar
- Cold Free-Range Chicken, Szechan Peppercomes, Chili Sauce
- Black Truffle, Braised Sea Cucumber, Shrimp, Beef and Mushrooms
- Sauteed String Beans, Diced Beef
- Spicy Noodle Soup with Vegetables and Seafood
If one signature menu should be selected, I prefer the Signature Seoul, because Vermicelli from signature Hong Kong is not upto my expectation (too bland for me) - but Dimsum is wonderful from the course.
As far as the Peking Duck is the must-eat dish, signature menu could be too heavy. In that case, I would recommend Peking Duck with extra Stir-fried meat with lettuce, and some dishes from A La Carte like Dimsum, Cold Free-Range Chicken (Szechan Peppercomes, Chili Sauce) and Seafood Black Truffle Fried Rice. (Vermicelli and/or Spicy Noodle Soup are not recommended - not up to expectation. Other dishes are tasty)
Staffs are very professional and attentive.
Price are moderate but I wish there be a membership or credit card for discount. (Club Josun and Marriott Bonvoy are not applied)
Corkage seems to be high at 100K per bottle (but the hose drinks are not so expensive).
There is a separate/private parking lot that is not crowded.
