"A hotel like the Moxy Tokyo Kinshicho is particularly welcome in Tokyo, a city that, for all its strengths — its top-end luxury hotels are still the envy of the world — is still rather light on hip, youthful, high-design, youth-oriented, relatively budget-friendly lodgings." - The MICHELIN Guide

"Why did this hotel catch your attention? What's the vibe? Moxy, Marriott's playful millennial brand, gives Tokyo a whirl in a decidedly un-touristy part of town. The building's exterior may be thoroughly nondescript—save for the logo's signature swoosh—but the interior contains all the trappings of a fun-spirited boutique hotel. What's the backstory? Get ready to cash in those Bonvoy points: The Moxy is part of a tidal wave of international imports landing in Japan. Tell us all about the accommodations. Any tips on what to book? Value is the driving factor here, so entry-level rooms are minimal both in size and decor. To make up for it, the kindly staff espouses a "maximize your time in Tokyo" motto. Is there a charge for Wi-Fi? There's a whimsical rotary phone in each room but don't worry: The wi-fi is free and fast. Drinking and dining—what are we looking at? Continental breakfast and takeaway snacks help guests get out and explore the city. But when you're done for the day there's a cozy, dimly lit bar on site for a casual hang with friends. And the service? Staff strikes a good balance between the professionalism that comes with Japanese hospitality and the friendliness that's often expected by international travelers. What type of travelers will you find here? Travelers who'd rather spend their hard-earned money on interesting eats instead of an upgrade to a W. What about the neighborhood? Does the hotel fit in, make itself part of the scene? Cheap sleeps with a high-comfort factor mean you won't be crashing in the city's hippest neighborhood. Kinshicho isn't whispered about with the same hushed tones as Aoyama or Naka-Meguro; rather, you're in an interstitial district between the electric lights of Akihabara and the strange future-city of Odaiba. But the blend of old wooden homes and newish towers is a delight to behold. Is there anything you'd change? Nope. Any other hotel features worth noting? A 24-hour fitness room is a great way to sweat off the jet lag. Bottom line: Worth it? Why? You can't beat the price if you're searching for a vetted stay at a certain international standard." - Brandon Presser

Stylish and Straightforward I stayed here with three of my friends for just one night, and it was exactly what we needed—quick in and out. The room was quiet thanks to well soundproofed walls, and everything was clean and functional. The air conditioning was easy to use, and the mini fridge is located in the bathroom, which was a bit unexpected but perfect for a short stay. I’d 100% recommend this place and would definitely return the next time I’m in Tokyo!

From the moment I arrived, the staff at this hotel made me feel genuinely welcome. It wasn’t just about being polite—they consistently went out of their way to anticipate what I might need and asked thoughtful questions to make my stay even more comfortable. What really impressed me was how every interaction felt personal. Whether it was a small favor or just a casual check-in, the staff always prioritized the guest’s experience. They didn’t just do their jobs—they seemed to truly care. This is the kind of hospitality that leaves a lasting impression. I’m sincerely grateful for the warmth and care shown throughout my stay, and I wouldn’t hesitate to come back. Highly recommended to anyone looking for more than just a place to sleep—this hotel makes you feel genuinely looked after.

Great hotel with the most fantastic staff. We are a family of 5 and stayed for 7 night in late April. We rented the family room with the loft bed and seperate bedroom for the adults. It was amazing, huge storage, seperate toilet outside the bathroom and comfy dining area. The staff were amazing from our first arrival until checkout. Nothing was difficult, always playing with the kids, really made our stay. If we returned to Tokyo, we would probably stay further West as the location became a bit of a pain after 7 nights. We took the airport express train from Kinshicho Station to Narita when we departed, was super easy and no problem at all with 4 giant bags at 3.45pm.

Mimaru Kinshicho is the perfect combination of family convenience and luxury. It was recommended to us by a previous guest who had stayed with her daughters. Like her we were so impressed with the size, aesthetic and accessibility of our room, which was a simple but beautiful Japanese style apartment with separate tatami style room for the kids. The kitchenette and dining area meant that we could often bring food back from the nearby Lawson’s or Family Mart, a perfect dinner solution after a day of sightseeing with young children. Having laundry facilities onsite was also a fantastic help. ||The staff were delightful and so approachable, and had organised gorgeous Easter hunts and games for kids staying at the hotel during that weekend. This was a really lovely touch and there are also daily prizes available for having a go at kendama. ||The hotel is brilliantly situated, being a 10 minute walk to Kinshicho station and walking distance to a couple of parks with playgrounds, something we hadn’t expected to find so easily. It’s also a 20-30 min walk to Tokyo Skytree which we did more than once. ||Can’t recommend this place highly enough and do hope we’ll be back someday.

I booked a guest room as a platinum member. I do not believe there are any categories to upgrade into at this hotel so no complaints regarding lack of upgrades. I was able to get late check out. Options for platinum and above benefits include points, 2 local alcoholic drinks, or a daily $10 food/beverage credit which came out to be 1,300 yen per day at writing. The daily credit seems to be far and away the best option. As the breakfast buffet is 2,000 yen this is not enough for breakfast however most of the lunch menu is no more than 800 yen which is a better use of the credit. Soft drinks are also complimentary for platinum and above. Gold and above also receive one drink ticket for the bar. Overall not bad in my opinion.||The room itself was just enough. A decently-sized room that could accomodate no more than 2 people. The theme of the Moxy brand is consistently “just enough” and I think that it achieves this again at this location.||The hotel itself is located south of Kinshicho Station. This area is fine enough during the daytime and you have very easy access to northeast Tokyo like Ueno, Akihabara, and even Tokyo Station. That said, it is true that at night the area becomes a bit seedy due to adult entertainment options in the southern area. Many nights as I returned to the hotel after 11pm I was propositioned by street touts for drinking, “massages”, and various other such activities. Not a place I would bring family at night. Some of my local friends commented that while they liked the tasty and affordable restaurants of Kinshicho, they were rather embarrassed of the nighttime scene and weren’t very thrilled for foreigners to see it.||As I mentioned earlier I did enjoy some food during the daytime at the bar during “cafe hours.” The lunch menu is actually quite substantial, very reasonably priced, and even includes a soft drink. While they had typical burgers they also had some local-style specialties like a minced tuna rice bowl with natto and taco rice. I noticed limited amounts of fried rice at a heavy discount which I imagine is salvaged from the previous day’s rice. One thing I want to say is that you need to return the food trays to the return window on the far left side when facing the back of the bar. There’s another smaller window that is not the return window however it faces out to the bar so many customers were awkwardly trying to put their trays in front of this wrong window.||As with all other Moxy properties in Japan as of writing, there is a coin laundry facility. Also as is usual, the washing machines get the job done however the dryers are typical Japanese dryers which are not especially up to the task for bigger loads. I just hung my laundry in my room.||I was a bit surprised by my fellow clients during my stay. While there was the target audience there, I also noticed a few seniors at the lounge area by the bar. Look, anyone is free to book any hotel they so choose however this hotel and the Moxy brand is really not targeted towards families and seniors and I think these groups would be more comfortable elsewhere. Is it the price point? ||Overall my initial impression of this hotel turned out to be pretty spot-on. This is a good hotel for a younger, more active clientele that wants to stay at a lifestyle place which is nicer than a business hotel but without breaking the bank. I think such a person wouldn’t be troubled by the location and can appreciate what is offered here. I think those outside of the target audience, particularly larger groups or families with younger children, should likely look elsewhere.

The best hotel in Tokyo — without a doubt!|I’ve stayed at many hotels in Japan, but Mimaru was truly special. My father wasn’t feeling well and needed to see a doctor, and the entire staff, including the manager, went above and beyond to help us. They made sure he could see a doctor immediately, even accompanying us to the clinic and helping with translation — not just once, but twice!||We were deeply touched by their kindness and care. They constantly checked in to make sure my father was okay throughout our stay, all the way until checkout. We are truly grateful for everything they did.||As for the location — it’s perfect. Close to shops, malls, Uniqlo, Don Quijote, and just a 3–5 minute walk from both the JR Station and the subway. The room was spotless, and the check-in instructions were very clear.||Everything about this hotel was absolutely perfect. I will definitely be coming back.|Thank you for everything!

Google
The hotel itself is pretty cool. No frills. Inexpensive and comfortable. The only issue is the area is in the red light district of Tokyo. Not that it matters, but you’ll be hustled left and right for Host bars while walking home to your hotel. The room is going to be very spartan. Not even a closet in the room, but who cares. I only go back there to sleep. I like that it is a western chain hotel where I can at least expect the beds and amenities are USA standards- ie regular sized. The towels too .. might not be obvious. You’ll get regular towels you expect not those tiny towels they give you in random AirBnB lol. I will still stay there as Tokyo is still very very safe regardless.

This place is very nice for families as their apartment sizes are very big. Location is perfect, it’s next to family mart and Lawson and a metro station!!! Enjoy your vacation in Japan with your stay at mimaru!!!! Amazing staff, very kind hearted and very receptive also bonus is most of them speak very fluent English!!!!

Yelp
Rooms are decent size as expected from a Moxy branded hotel. Free welcome drink at check in. Breakfast is American style at around 1500¥.

Yelp
Everything from the time we arrived to the time we departed was amazing! The staff were VERY welcoming, available 24/7 (always had a smile on their face), the hotels rooms were nice, the bathroom (especially the water pressure, temperature, and how soft your skin felt after a shower), the daily breakfast (even though it was pretty much the same every morning), was great! If I was retired and could live at this property for the rest of my life, I would be very happy. The ONLY complaint I had during my whole trip was that I could hear people having conversations on the street from my room on the 9th floor. There are two convenient stores nearby for your convenience. There are also two strip clubs across the street. Even though there was a lot of traffic at night, it did not bother me. The hotel also does a great job with putting on events so people can gather downstairs. The hotel upgraded its laundry facility while I was there. Now, you can either pay with coins or download some app on your phone and use other methods. The hotel also has currency converter machine that will convert other currency into Yen. Thanks again to ALL the staff but a special thanks to (sorry if I spell anyone's name incorrectly): Sachin, Kazuki, Louis, Lotus, and Tatsun!

Yelp
This was our first experience with the Moxy concept hotels. It's a fun place, and the target demographic seems like it would be around millennials, I would estimate. We are not that young, but still enjoyed the young and casual vibe. There's a nice lounge/bar/front desk area, a library/game room, gym and laundry at the facility. As with most hotels, there's also a 7-11 nearby. At Moxy, soft drinks are free at the bar at all times. I love apple juice (outside of the USA, it actually tastes like apples!), and I got my fill. The Kinshicho neighborhood is a red-light area, so you'll want to mind your own business, and you'll see lots of cars and people loitering about some areas, but they leave you alone. The good thing is that it's just a couple of blocks to Kinshicho Station and shopping areas. If you're looking for an experience a little better & more spacious than a capsule hotel, and maybe want to be able to do some laundry and relax on-site, this might be a good hotel for you!

Yelp
What a magical place! Nestled at the juxtaposition of tradition and the new, this location caters both to locals on staycations as well as foreigners seeking shelter amidst familiar amenities such as a DJ, western-style bites + libations and a staff that understands the dichotomy of it all. Let's talk about the Crew... I was checked in by Juno whom was very accommodating despite arriving 1-day earlier from Taiwan. I later began to know and interact daily with Rinka, Juri, Thanh Thanh, Yuka, Chiayu (Yu), Mikako, and Kotone. Sachin aka the master chef rounds out the crew with the leads; Nico whom was cordial in extending my stay and Tsugumi, Shohei whom is the crew sub-leader and Tomoko the duty manager that was kind enough to provide me with 500¥ for the train when my credit card wouldn't take. Furthermore, I've been coming to Japan for over 20 years and have stayed in Ginza, Minato-ku, Setagaya and even Yokohama. If you are not familiar with Tokyo, the aforementioned are very posh and although the district that the Moxy Kinshicho occupies is not as posh as the others, once you cross the threshold of the lobby into the foray where the bar and lounge are located you will quickly feel like the family. The staff has by-far provided me the very-best experience I have had in 20 years of coming to Japan and 16 years with the (SPG) Marriott imprint. I urge you to not overlook this location as your destination in Tokyo. You will be throughly impressed by the warm atmosphere provided by the staff and they too will make you feel like family as they have done for so many others. Thank you so much Moxy @ Kinshicho! I will definitely make this my go-to destination for my travels to Tokyo. Again, shoutout to Juno, Juri, Rinka, Thanh Thanh, Mikako, Yuka, Tsugumi, Nico, Tomoko, Shoehei, Kotone, Chiayu (Yu), and Sachin. You all now are my family and I am deeply appreciative of the exceptional experience that you have provided. Masa-san, you should be proud, for your crew is truly world class and now apart of my extended family, thank you!

Yelp
A fun and unique hotel, in one of the best parts of Tokyo! The rooms are a bit small, but I'm sure they're large by Tokyo standards. The facilities are clean, well appointed, and fun. The best part about this hotel is the showers. They are amazing. This hotel is conveniently located may be a five minute walk from Kinshicho Station. I am staying here a few times and I will continue staying here.

Victoria E.

Yelp
I love this hotel. It's in a very cool neighborhood with lots of izakaya and diners. I've always found this type of neighborhood more suiting. Like the Moxy in Osaka, this is a hipster hotel with cool looking lobbies and the gym is also passable. I liked the convenience of it all. There is a family style mart across the street which is filled with bento boxes and other cool treats. I liked the dessert inside of it. You walk for a little bit and you hit the subway station. There are millions of great restaurants nearby. The room is super comfy and warm. I would highly recommend the stay. Oh, breakfast is okay but it's free so it's worth it.

Yuko H.

Yelp
Interesting concept. I think it would be fine for a tourist. Location: it's only five minutes walk from Kinshicho train station, really was easy to find but their neighbors are.... it was like a red light district. I wouldn't bring kids here. I didn't feel comfortable walking around the hotel. Room is actually more spacious than typical Japanese business hotel. No closet, and not really a huge place to open your suitcase but I didn't feel too crowded there either. They have laundry and gym here. Iron is at the laundry. Not that business traveler friendly but just one night is fine. Check in is at the bar area. I was confused as I walked in. Smoking is right outside the hotel, and I hated passing by there. Interesting concept, ideal for younger friends on vacation. Price is very reasonable for Tokyo.

Yelp
A budget choice a bit in the outskirts of Tokyo away from the action, the MOXY Tokyo Kinshicho is a bit of a different experience than your usual business hotel that you may find yourself staying when trying to use your Marriott points. I arrived there late at night after a long day at DisneySea, a very awesome and unique park by the way, and was greeted by quite the unique neighborhood. Not the kind of place I'm into at night, but head into MOXY, and you're transported into a pretty unique world. I haven't experienced this brand prior, but check-in wasn't at your usual front desk, it was at the lobby bar and the bartender prepared you a drink simultaneously as he got my room keys. Also hooked me up with some pretty cool t-shirts. The room is a bit small, but Japanese rooms are small. Definitely optimized for space and the decor is unique. The hotel as a whole has plenty of photoshoot opportunities, it's just vibe-y. Would definitely recommend as a solo travel or traveling as two, and while you may normally want to stay near Shinjuku or Ginza, sometimes you need a change of pace. It ain't "forbidden" to check out Kinshicho. TIPS: Tips aren't allowed in Japan.

Yelp
Moxy is hip, fun, and different. It is not a cookie-cutter full-service hotel so forget all that you know about hotels. The front desk and the bar are the same. The lobby is set up like a living room. There are plenty of seats along with books, board games, and video games. The rooms are trendy yet minimalist, and all of the rooms have hardwood floors and walk-in showers. The two room types are a single queen bed or two twin beds. The rooms are small, but the space is used efficiently. The TV is mounted onto the wall. Pegs run along one side of the wall so that you can hang your stuff along with the foldable furniture. No space is wasted. Overall, the vibe is welcoming and feels more like a home than a hotel. WiFi is free throughout the hotel. There is no room service, but there is a small food menu at the bar. The lobby also has a grab-and-go deli and instant noodle station. Other amenities include a 24/7 fitness center, rental bikes to get around the city, and lockers in the lobby. This is a casual place to kick back and be comfortable at so you will not see a door attendant, bellhop, or concierge. Parking is not available either. The Moxy is a few minutes away from Kinshicho Station, and the closest major tourist attraction is Tokyo Skytree Town. It is not in the most centralized location, but the train station will easily connect you to all of the attractions. Food options are plentiful though. The Moxy is right across the street from two convenience stores, one of which is 7-Eleven. Restaurants are around the area too. Mainly though, the Moxy is the place to party. It is surrounded by bars and nightclubs so the streets are loud and busy at night. Clearly, the Moxy is geared towards a certain type of clientele: millennials. Stay at the Moxy Tokyo Kinshicho if you want to party it up and have fun. Otherwise, find a different area and hotel to stay at - the Moxy lifestyle is not for everyone.

Yelp
I want to disclose that I am a Marriott member and stay at Marriott hotels for all my travels. This is my second time staying at a moxy hotel. Unlike other Marriott hotels, there is no concierge service, bell boys, executive lounge or room upgrade at this hotel. Location: The hotel is a 5 walk from the jr train station (Kinshicho station). However, it is not centrally located. It is about out 30 minutes train ride from Tokyo station. It is also in the middle of the red light district. Area: the area is quiet in the morning with a few people going to work but is surrounded by men and women from the clubs at night. Lobby: the lobby is very nice. It feels like a bar than a regular Marriott hotel with the music and bar. Check in: you checkin in at the bar. they give you a free drink ticket upon check in. I tried the kaku highball. Room: The rooms are smaller than your typical Marriott hotels. Unlike my previous moxy hotel, I do have a window. However, the hotel is surrounded by the highway so you will hear cars drive by at night. In addition, as you are surrounded by the red light district, you will hear some people scream or laugh at night. There are probably only a few rooms in this hotel where you can avoid both noises. Overall: I think it is a great hotel for the budget American travel. However, if you want the marriott experience, then this hotel might not be for you. Also, if you want something closer to Tokyo, I would pick a different hotel.

Yelp
Fun concept and more marketed towards the "millennial." It's not your average hotel set up and the bar is actually the front desk (beer during check-in? Don't mind if I do!). I came here for a few days on a work trip and I loved how the hotel felt like a big communal, work share-space. I spent much of my mornings in the library enjoying the free tea/coffee while answering emails. The rooms were small, but standard for Tokyo sizes. Hangers, chairs, tables were all on hooks against the wall, so you use them as you wish. The windowsill is large so we ended up storing our luggage on it which opened up a lot of space. It was very clean/modern and you don't feel cramped at all. Location is both a positive and negative part. It's very close to the Kinshicho station (~8 minute walk) so you can access all of Tokyo from there. However, it's located in the "red light district" and you can hear people talking loudly during the wee hours of night (so bring ear plugs!). It's a little weird to walk by all of the bars/clubs at night with people standing around soliciting business, but they weren't aggressive and no one approached us (I was with my husband so they probably knew we weren't interested). I would definitely stay there again in the future, it's very good pricing.

Deana M.

Yelp
Great hotel with comfortable bed and amazing water pressure in the shower. The rooms don't have closets but have a few hangers if you need to hang your clothes. It has a very minimalist decor to it. The location is a few minutes walk to the train and subway station, with an airport bus stop that takes you to/from Haneda Airport directly. Not the mention the staff are super friendly. Plus, if you want to stay in, they have games in their lobby that you can use (Foosball table, Jenga, old school video games, etc). It is also located across 2 different convenience stores (Mini Mart and 7-11). Although the hotel isn't in the heart of Tokyo, the subway or train makes it convenient to get around. Lastly, the bathroom has a lot of amenities (dental kit, shaving kit, etc.) but they don't offer body lotion or any soap bars. Instead, they have liquid body wash in the shower.

Jeff Y.

Yelp
Well, on the plus side the place itself seemed pretty clean. That was about it. We stayed here and while 44 and 50 are not fuddy-duddies but good luck trying to sleep if you're below the 6th floor, where we stayed. Loud music from the lobby/bar/check-in area pervaded. Be prepared to be offered all kinds of ladies and narcotics outside and please enjoy our surrounding whorehouses. The rooms are so tiny that there is not a space big enough to open a suitcase except on the beds. Most furniture is folding and hanging on the walls since there's no other room for it. The shower was good at least with overhead large head, good pressure and temperature and glass doors.

J K.

Yelp
Close to the transit station. The area is a little red light if you know what I mean. Love the hotel, room are small but clean. Has great water pressure in the shower. It was a straight train ride from the airport 1:30 min, we should have taken the fast train 30 Large shopping center just 2 blocks away, grocery store cloths ect

Yelp
First, I want to start by saying that I enjoyed my stay here. This hotel is rather maligned in other reviews on other sites, but it becomes clear after reading the hotel's self-written synopsis that its aimed towards pleasing a younger crowd. One that - in general - isn't necessarily interested in the things other, more traditional Marriott properties may provide. I'll start with what it doesn't have: no flimsy slippers or sketchy bath robes. No well-worn electric kettle, and no $.50 tea or ill tasting instant coffee. No refrigerator in the room (which is actually a bummer). What it sorta has: The iron and iron board are shared in a common room. What it does well: nice interior décor, both in the common areas and in the room. Decent showers, and a very comfortable bed. A nice DIY breakfast ramen, and assortment of pastries. A decent gym. Free lockers near the entrance. Bikes you can rent. A decent bottom-line price (at least compared to other properties in the greater Tokyo metropolitan area. The location was a bit of a wash for me - neither good nor bad. Good: It's about a mile south of the Tokyo Sky Tree, which is clearly visible when standing directly in front of the hotel. Bad: it was in a rather seedy neighborhood, with literally tens of middle-aged foreign men and Japanese middle-aged women trying to coax other drunken Japanese men into the various "Buy Me Drinky" bars. Walk with a purpose, and you'll be through the bad bit in a jiffy. For me, the pros outweighed the cons. Would I return? Absolutely!

Alex S.

Yelp
I love everything about this hotel The concept is weird if you have never stayed at any moxy, the bartenders are the front desk....i know... lol When you come in make your way to the bar where you begin your check in process. However don't worry, you don't have to wait behind behind trying to order drinks, there's a separate line for that You are treated with a welcome gift (if you have status) that entails to you get a market item, what it really means is, here is a empty clear plastic bag, you can have whatever you can fit into it from our snack section. so fun!! Plus there are games galore to hang out out while battling jet lag or time zone changes The room as bigger than most local chain hotels you will find in Tokyo without breaking the bank Now...the neighborhood. If you're a dude, traveling alone for work, be prepared to be heckled by men in suits or madames trying to get you to come into their bar connected to a love hotel. However if you just politely tell them no they leave you alone. They know that if you wanna come to that area for that reason then you already got a plan in mind they just wanna get your business. They don't push which is nice It located a couple blocks away from kinshicho train station. Pay attention: IF YOU ARE COMING FROM NARITA LOOK FOR THE NARITA SKY ACCESS TOWARDS HANEDA AIRPORT, it's under $10 to get you there and once checked into the hotel everything is a short metro ride away! Enjoy!!

Steph G.

Yelp
I've been wanting to see this hotel since it was built recently in this area. It's nice to see Marriott add some additional properties to the Tokyo area. However I'm not quite sure how the public transportation to this hotel works. I was in the area visiting museums and ended up walking over to this hotel across town. It is just like Moxys other parts of the world and the United States. I did not stay here but stopped in for a quick refreshment break. As you know, everything is done at the bar area directly in the middle of the room. This is where you would check in, order beverages, food etc. we opted to try the flatbread, an Americano coffee and a Pepsi. I love how this hotel has plenty of lounging areas to relax. They were filming a commercial during our visit and had politely asked us to move to another part of the lobby area. After they did, they brought over an additional beverage and some dessert which we truly appreciated. As a titanium elite member of Marriott this was very appreciated. I probably would try staying at this hotel in the future. There were some restaurants and shops in the immediate area but I did not have enough time to explore. I ended up taking an Uber back to Asakusa. The hotel seems to have a good vibe just like it's other locations throughout the world.

Yelp
It's a Moxy so kind of feels like home. The staff is courteous and the location is fantastic. Would love to come back.

Yelp
Had a great stay at Moxy last month Christopher, helped us a lot in our booking and was very helpful and friendly. Very close to the train station and restaurants Highly recommended!!! Thanks again, Christopher!!

Yelp
It was so difficult leaving the Moxy, i wanted to stay there forever! We came a little early and they were so accommodating to get our room fixed in a jiffy while we played Jenga in the lobby. They welcomed us with 2 complimentary drinks and informed us of all the amenities. We took full advantage of the coin laundry, gym, and bar :) We met a couple staying there that said the neighborhood was "transitioning"...although there are some gentlemen clubs across the street, we never felt like we were in an unsafe area. It's Tokyo...I don't think anywhere is unsafe lol. I can't wait to be back and make more memories at the Moxy!

Yelp
My god I could not sleep here. Windows are single pane and the hotel is less than 100 feet from a highway. With earplugs in, I was up the entire night listening to traffic. Moxy hotels are hipster hotels in their whole layout. Rooms are small, but nice. But I would never again risk staying here again for the horrid sound pollution.

Yelp
We stayed here 3 nights and loved it. Modern and well-suited for Westerners even though the room is a bit tight for two twin beds. Ann, the Hotel Manager, is in-tune with the hotel guests. She is approachable and friendly. Excellent customer service on her part! Breakfast is awesome. Breakfast is not only catered to Japan guests but also Westerners as well ... well-balanced and win-win in my book. The best feature for me is the gym with free weights (44 kilo max.) and modern equipment, not to mention also the size of the gym. Big plus for a gym addict as myself. Happy about that! The facility also includes laundry area. Extremely convenient for light-travelers like myself. The only down size is the location, not that it's related to the distance from Tokyo Station but the surrounding areas. It's in the heart of the Red Light District which I'm not a fan of but tolerable. You can wheel your luggage from Tokyo Station to this place under 10 minutes. Definitely will book this place again the next time I'm in Tokyo.

Yelp
This is not a typical Marriott property, but the experience is wonderful and unique. The area it located worried me before I went there, but really I did not see any inappropriate things on the street at all(both late night and in day time) All the staffs there are extremely nice and they can provide local advise on restaurant or place to go. The happy hour in the afternoon can be a good place to have some rest from sightseeing. (BOGO beer&wine) The room itself is nice in Japan standard (larger than the other one I have stayed in Tokyo), you will need to serve yourself a coffee or tea at the lobby since there's no kettle in the room. If you are looking for luxury hotel experience or get recognised of your Marriott status, it may not be a good place to go. Overall, I love this hotel and will definitely come back one day!

Yelp
Stayed here recently and must say it was solid with a few exceptions. First the staff is extremely helpful and friendly. Great marriott status recognition, easy subway location, fun vibe, stellar design, reasonable pricing and a solid breakfast. We enjoyed our stay here and are big fans with only one draw back that would have made it a 5 star experience. THE SMOKING! The smoking area is right in-front of the entrance so all the cigarette smell just lingers and fills the common areas (including the breakfast area in the morning) and consumes the elevators with a suffocating nicotine smell. I'm honestly really surprised a well run property like this that the first impression is a deep seeded smell of cigarettes. I think they do try to mask it with a scented spray but you cant hide that disgusting stench. Advice to mgmt, move that smoking station far away from the entrance! If you do that then people can expect a 5 star stay.

Yelp
Wonderful experience, rooms were clean and nice sized. Bed oh so comfortable and the staff were so fun. We loved the shower facilities and every toilet should be built with a bidet. Great part of town. Will revisit.

Yelp
Super cool spot. Rooms are bed small though. Toilets rule. Super clean spot and friendly staff.

Yelp
I am a big time Marriott supporter and try to stay at Marriotts whenever possible. When planning our trip, we debated about traditional hotels, but decided to give the Moxy boutique hotels a try. The hotel is close (5 minute walk) to the Kinshicho JR station, which is convenient for anyone with JR rail passes. It is in the "Red Light" district, but the "workers" did not bother our family and it took our boys (15 & 17) a few nights to ask questions. There was nothing blatant and my wife said she would have been fine there by herself; however, I did see the looks she was giving the "workers," so it's no surprise no one bothered us. We had two rooms with twin beds in each. There is NOT much floor room, but we made it work and the wall hooks and window sill helped. We were on the 10th floor, so that helped with minimizing street noise at night. Also, our floor rugs disappeared on the 3rd day to never reappear. Being a Marriott reward member, we received breakfast for two for each room. The breakfast was just so so, as there were several days where the food was out or stuff (mugs, cups, utensils, etc) was not there. The tables were dirty and the last few days they let us eat in the living room lobby versus the tables. It was overall less than stellar, especially after the amazing breakfast at the Osaka MOXY! It was very disappointing. Additionally, they only gave us breakfast tickets for one room, so we assumed that each ticket was for 2 people. We stayed here 8 nights and it wasn't until the 5th day when someone questioned us about the breakfast tickets. We explained and they apologized and said they would have more tickets delivered today for remainder of our stay. No tickets arrived during our day out and we didn't think anything of it until the next morning when someone different asked. My wife politely explained the situation and they again apologized and said they'd have more tickets written, but when she stopped on the way out to ask again, the person was confused. She did write the tickets there and then as my wife said if someone asked the next day, she would not be happy. It bothered my wife that no staff (Japanese or Western) would speak to us in Japanese. I am pretty fluent and my wife can understand quite a bit. It was odd, but oh well. The lobby is a party place. There was a DJ on Friday and Saturday nights. Additionally, a university band/orchestra was playing one night and there was a wedding reception another night. While these were not bothersome, it would be nice if they were posted so you would know it was going to be crowded in the evening. The DJ was posted, but didn't expect it to be that LOUD. There is a big exercise room and laundry area in basement. Only three machines and they can only do small loads and dryers take longer than you think, so plan accordingly.

Yelp
I love the feel of this boutique hotel from the moment you walk in the door. MOXY balances a fun and calming atmosphere at the same time. The room I had was quaint and relaxing; it didn't have any drawers - instead there are 20 hooks for you to hang up your belongings. The staff is super friendly and helpful for an English speaking traveler. As far as location goes, it was far from the main Tokyo attractions and the neighborhood isn't my first choice in terms of the vibe. But, the train station is five minutes away and you can easily get to the top sights in 25-35 minutes. I'd stay here again.

Yelp
This hotel is quite trendy. Upon walking in you would need to walk to the left hand side to the "Bar" area and that's where you check-in. I love that there are games in the lobby area and that the hotel itself is so modernized. The other reviewer before me here is correct in the fact that this hotel is aimed towards a younger crowd. There's music in the lobby area and just a very nice and inviting place to be. The cons about this hotel in particular: - No business center (so you can't have a place to print out tickets or itineraries or maps or anything) - Short-handed staff. There's from 1-3 people working the desk at a time and even sometimes just one person. So sometimes there's quite a few people checking in and you need to just ask a question or something and it won't get done until later. - No concierge (so you can't have someone helping you make reservations or anything or ask questions about itineraries or travel plans. I asked one of the reception girls about something about getting to the tokyo station and they said it wasn't possible through the train station from the hotel, however, I went to good ole google maps and it was definitely possible without having to take a cab. You could use the train station that's about a 6 minute walk from this hotel). - Be careful around this area at night time - lots of women around that are trying to get you to go into these bars right outside of the hotel. What scared me was the men to woman ratio. For every woman standing out in the corner, there were at least 3-4 men standing there watching their every move. This area is in between the train station and the hotel and if you don't make eye contact with them, they wont bother you. Again, this isn't a 5-star luxury hotel. This is geared towards a younger crowd who knows where they're going and already has everything ready without the need for much assistance or concierge. The rooms are nice - however quite small. The furniture in the rooms are very nice. I also enjoyed that the hotel is about a 6 minute walk to the train station. I would recommend staying here as it's one of the more economical hotels in tokyo.

Yelp
Definitely a young hip crowd here. Ambiance and general all around vibe is young urban pro and well off hipster. This isn't a bad thing as long as you're prepared for the sitch. Breakfast buffet was a nice mix of bacon (eurostyle), bangers n mash and other more exotic fare. Coffee is strong and delish. Staff is ridiculously helpful & friendly. Bar is open 24/7!!!

Yelp
Tokyo is a wonderful city -and staying at this Marriott property turned out to be a great choice! I visited Japan with my best friend and we stayed at this hotel for 8 days! We loved the fun and funky decor, the staff was kind and helpful and the location a short distance from the JR station made us feel like lucky girls! We opted for a 2 twin bed room and we were delighted that the beds were actually super comfortable ! Our room was thoroughly cleaned daily and restocked with cozy slippers and cute toiletries ! We noticed the lobby area has fun nightly specials and activities including a Nintendo game night which is a unique hotel option! We selected the daily breakfast with our rate which has quite a few choices -including pancakes and bacon to miso soup to other Japan food like smoked fish ! The grapefruit juice was delicious too! I loved that we were greeted at check-in with a delicious welcome cocktail -fruity and strong! If you're visiting Tokyo this is a fun and convenient option! We were only one Train stop away from Tokyo Skytree and only about a 30 min train ride to Tokyo Disney and 20 mins to Harajuku and Shibuya Crossing! The hotel is incredibly clean and represented Marriott well!

Yelp
(3.5 stars) I've stayed in a lot of hotels and overall this is a pretty nice one. The staff is very friendly and several even some speak English with one from the states so no problem communicating there. Hotel rooms in Tokyo tend to be on the smaller side and this was no different but it was fine for my wife and I. There are wooden hooks along one wall that made it very easy to hang coats and other clothes. We didn't feel like we were cramped. The queen bed, as hotel beds go, was good. Firm but not overly so. 55" Sharp Aquos TV on the wall. The bathroom was a little small for two at a time but they made up for it with the shower. I'm a man that loves a great shower and this my friends is one of the best shower I've ever had! It sported a very large shower head and delivered a torrential downpour of wonderfully hot water! You'll want to shower multiple times a day just so you get to use it! It'll be something you talk about in years to come when the topic of showers comes up... "Showers? Let me tell you about a time I stayed in a nice little hotel in Tokyo...". It's great. The hotel is very convenient (3 blocks) to a train/bus station and you can get anywhere you need to go from there. A great tip is to have a screenshot in Japanese of where you want to go and you can be helped much easier. We had to learn that the hard way. There is one caveat, for us anyway. It could very well be a huge bonus for some. There are several 'clubs' across the street from the hotel. We never heard loud music or anything as these are not those kinds of clubs. The signage is minimal and nothing like you might see in many countries but it just caught us off guard so I thought it would be a good thing to note. This is your note. P.S. You can always take a cold shower!

Yelp
This hotel is awesome, affordable and hip! Rooms are super cool, food is great, and the bar serves yummy food and drinks (day and night). highly recommend and pretty close to the train station which is a major station.

Yelp
This hotel is super trendy and a little hipster for my taste but the service was amazing. Super easy check in, welcome drink, clean rooms with super comfortable beds and 24 hour restaurant and bar. Reasonably priced and you can't go wrong with the breakfast buffet.

Yelp
We stayed here for four nights while we toured Tokyo. Rooms are sleek, lean and ergonomically designed. Hotel has a great bar and breakfast area. Good location close to two train stations. Hotel staff is kind, helpful, courteous and efficient. I thought I lost something and they went above and beyond to help me. Would happily stay here again.

Yelp
The moxy was extremely clean, accommodating and in a great area. Beings close to the station was very helpful. Moxy even stored our bags after checking out when we went to visit Kyoto for a few days. Made the trip easier carrying less bags. They offer a free cocktail upon arrival and the rooms were cozy. Would definitely stay again! Thanks Moxy and staff!
