MR-63, a Public Space Made of Metro Cars, to Open in Montreal | Eater Montreal

"Set in Griffintown, MR-63 will open on July 19 for a seasonal run through September 15 and occupies two iconic blue Montreal metro carriages on the corner of Peel and Ottawa streets. It's a public space fully open to everyone — whether or not they’re customers — combining a bar and café with a large terrasse and a family play area. One carriage will be converted into a gourmet épicerie showcasing Quebec products (and will sell Quebec craft brews, juices, and coffee and host a barbecue), while the second carriage will focus on cultural events, able to host screenings, exhibitions, conferences, and workshops. Hours are 7 a.m. to 9 p.m. Sunday to Thursday and 7 a.m. to 10 p.m. Friday and Saturday. This two-carriage setup is the first phase by Étienne and Frédéric Morin-Bordeleau (they own eight carriages), and by late 2021 the corner should morph into a full three-level cultural hub that incorporates the metro cars while keeping the bar and coffee shop." - Tim Forster

We found this place randomly by walking in the neighborhood ! We heard some music and found out about the special place (tonight the event was a music festival) ! People are super nice and they serve local products which is very nice ! Loved the cocktails ! Will come back soon !

Really cool space and idea! It's a perfect place for Summer time. Super worth to check it out!

Cool atmosphere and concept. The salad was mediocre; lacked flavour but had good ingredients. They try to be “zero waste”, which is commendable but keep in mind if you want takeout, you need to pay $2 for a mason jar, which you will be refunded for if you return. One of the staff also had a pretty bad attitude, so it was a turn off!

This place has a really fun and unique vibe/ atmosphere so if you’re tired of the typical cafe, reach here!! Their beer and kombucha were both really good!

Super great idea, and awesomely executed! Well done to all who worked on it. Really love that it's 100% local.

Went there for the first time. They had a whole different food menu for weekends i guess. Ordered a Chicken Sandwich. Got to know that they serve the chicken sandwich as a Pita Bread for base , coleslaw , sauces and legit 4 small pieces of grilled chicken. Was about to order half (as they had an option for half sandwich) but was told that they only have the option of full sandwich. Disappointment for me.

Really cool atmosphere. We were lucky enough to catch a live show by a local artist. The fact that the old Montreal metro cars are used is kinda cool. The staff is friendly and the bin bags are confy... Quite an experience:)

Horrible establishment. They are EXTREMELY disrespectful of everyone living in the surrounding area. The music blares extremely loud and they have no consideration for nearby apartments. I cannot wait for the weather to get cold enough to stop this nonsense.
