Mr. Banh Mi

Really enjoyed the bbq pork and combination sandwiches. After trying 5 banh mi restaurants in SF this is my favorite and will definitely return. The meat was tender, mayo portion was on point, and the pickled veggies were nicely tangy.

Really good bahn mi. Flavorful tofu and perfect amount of toppings. Perfect for a quick, cheap, but tasty lunch. Take out only. Some people called ahead to pick up their order to avoid the 5min wait.

That sandwich was sooo good!!! The BBQ pork chunks were big and juicy, the bread was perfect. If you’re in the area, definitely stop in and get down on a bbq pork Banh Mi sando. 9/10 from Seanwiches

10/10 delicious. Quick services, fresh bread, delicious fillings. I decided to give this place a try for a quick luck. I ordered the grilled pork, extra pork, Bahn mi as is. Oh man, the sweetness and crunch from the pickled carrots, the savory depth of flavor from the Pate, and the incredibly crispy french roll were so well balanced. This Bahn mi exceeded expectations and was the perfect lunch. Forget Subway eat here

So they might have great sandwiches, but I couldn’t quite tell my first time in. I stopped by at 2pm on a Saturday and they were entirely out of chicken, so we picked up a tofu banh mi - maybe not the best choice, but Dinosaurs does them well so we thought we’d give it a shot. Almost all of the components were great, including there bread which really does it for me. The tofu was super bland, and the texture kinda ruined the rest of the sandwich. Otherwise, they’re cheap and reliable. I’ll definitely be back to try the others, but this wasn’t a great first go-around.

It's good; it's quite expensive for a banh mi though. But I guess that's sadly the world we live in now. I wish they used half the sugar they do though. It's really overwhelming.

This review is mainly for the Banh Mi. I've tried an assortment of different Banh Mi's from this place and they've all been consistent in style and taste. It's fairly traditional style for the area, pickled vegetables taste like what I expect it to be in a Banh Mi and the bread is not too old or crunchy. I have never dined in but have only done take out and delivery. Both of which are extremely fast. This is my go to Banh Mi spot for when I work from home and want a quick delicious lunch.

Ordered on Doordash. The BBQ Pork meat in the banh mi was so delicious. It was perfectly cooked and seasoned. The rest of the sandwich though is eh. The mayo is really sweet and I like that. The carrot and daikon were lightly flavored, didn't really taste them. The bun was not toasted or maybe it was and when it came with delivery it became chewy. This would not be my go to place for banh mi but it is enough to satisfy a craving. The Fresh Spring Rolls are such a rip off though. They were $7 for two rolls in an order. It came with shrimp, bean sprout, rice noodles, lettuce, and rice paper. There was no aromatic vegetables whatsoever.

In the neighborhood, dropped by Mr. Bánh Mì at 3605 Balboa Street, cross 37th Avenue. Was in a veggie mood so items ordered today were MEATLESS! Small, no-frills takeout (no dine-in/seating) for Vietnamese banh mi, rolls, fried snacks and limited beverages. Ordering was quick and easy, questions answered patiently and nicely. Standard banh mi adds: cucumbers, cilantro, pickled carrots, daikon, Vietnamese Mayo, & jalapeños. Ordered: #6 TOFU BANH MI (DÂU HÚ) - chose this v. 7 because it had more tofu. This Banh mi was very well-balanced, filled with prepped tofu, fresh pickled veggies, Mayo and fresh slices of jalapeños! Couldn't get over the pickled julienned carrots, SO good! Could find myself asking for extra jalapeños next time. Mayo was spare but it worked for me. Flavors, veggies, bread and prepared tofu was great! Definite would order again. #19 VEGETARIAN SPRING ROLLS (GÓI CUÕN CHAY) - chock full of fresh herbs and greens, bits of tofu, slivered mushrooms, vermicelli in a rice paper wrapper. Surprise soy sauce-fish sauce-vinegar dipping sauce that I eyed warily BUT was really good. Guess the Ubiquitous peanut sauce would have overwhelmed this meatless offering. Sauce matched perfectly with the spring roll of green, herby, heavenly WOWNESS! This roll could be a light meal because it was densely packed and oh so good with each delicious bite with sauce. Easily ONE OF THE BEST Fresh Spring Rolls ever!! Now a fav go-to! Mr. Bánh Mì is Small home grown banh mi business that has its regular customers streaming in for their daily banh mi fix. The prices are fantastic: banh mi $8.95-$10.95, fresh spring rolls $8.95-10.95, fried imperial rolls & won tons $8.95, fried chicken wings $9.50, Extras: fried egg $1.50, Pate $1.00 & Vegetables $1.00. Beverages are limited to ice milk coffee and Thai tea BUT who cares?!? It's Mr. Bánh Mì! Parking can be challenging in the neighborhood but it can be done. Cannot wait to come back to try their other banh mi's especially with pate and pork, pork belly, chicken, shrimp & fish yummy goodness! See you there! Drooling...

The banh mi here is perfectly packed with the Vietnamese classic ingredients! Surprisingly, the spring rolls were the best I've had in a while. You know it's an authentic when there's Vietnamese ladies in the back yelling at eachother. We got the OG banh mi and bbq springs rolls with the classic peanut sauce and took it to Golden Gate Park to enjoy!

Searching up for some inexpensive eats and came across Mr. Banh Mi! So my bf and I decided to grab a few sandwiches here. VIETNAMESE HEADCHEESE SANDWICH ~ I love headcheese. because of its chew texture! Had to try this. With the headcheese, they add pâté spread and mayo. Pretty decent sized Banh Mi for $9! It had a good amount of pickled veggies as well as meat. I enjoyed the crispy toasted French roll too! Filled me for quite a while. 5/5 BBQ PORK SANDWICH ~ My bf had this and enjoyed it! I took a bite and liked the BBQ pork. It really shines in the sandwich. 5/5 Awesome sandwiches! We'll be back to try other things on the menu.

This place is so good!! The banh mi's are huge!!! They do not skimp the meat, pate and pickled vegetables!! I highly recommend this place if you want a good quality sandwich!! The price is unbeatable!

We ordered a vegetable and a tofu sandwich. I would recommend the tofu sandwich. The vegetable sandwich had a strange vegetable that was overwhelming in taste that ruined the taste of the sandwich. I had the tofu sandwich and it was actually good. Service was very quick even though there was a line. I would return to this place but know not to order the vegetable sandwich.

When I see patrons STANDING OUTSIDE PATIENTLY waiting for their order to be presented, AND it's banh mi; it's a must stop for me! Firstly, this is a walk-up spot without seating. For me that was not an issue since I like to walk and snack when I'm visiting a new place or part of a town. The space is super clean and has an organized kitchen area. The attendant arrived at the cash point quickly and took my order which was a BBQ chicken banh mi. I added a milky code when I saw the shelf lined with Cafe Du Monde chicory blend. I then took my place on curb in front of the cafe along with another customer who is a local. When I asked what his favorites were, he quickly said the tofu and barbecue chicken (made me smile!). Folks the banh mi and coffee were truly exceptional!

The banh mis here are a hit or miss. Some days it can be really good and other days they're ok depending on who makes them. Overall my go to banh mi spot. I always get the combination! U can call to order ahead or order when u get there. Take out only.

Tasty and cheap Vietnamese food in the Richmond! We ordered the 1) beef banh mi, 2) pork banh mi, and 3) pork spring rolls. Our sandwiches were full of meat and veggies, and we really liked the pork marinade. The bread was nicely crunchy on the outside and soft inside. The spring rolls were big and filled with the right amount of pork. They were considerate of my allergy and replaced the peanut dipping sauce (that normally comes with the dish) with fish sauce (nuoc cham). Service was quick, even though there was a line out front. We waited about 10 min for our food. It was $8 for each sandwich and $10.85 for the spring rolls. Note that there's no seating or water. Take your food to go -- we walked down to ocean beach and had a nice picnic with our takeout.

Neighborhood Bahnmi place with decent Bahnmi sandwiches and imperial rolls. Service is efficient and friendly when we visited. We also tried them via delivery. Small takeout place close to Balboa theater, Laundromat (bagels), Devils Teeth (bakery), and Purple Kow (bubble tea) amongst others on the same street. Lots of great choices within walking distance.

had to make a quick stop before an appointment in Richmond District and found this place on Yelp. I got the BBQ Pork sandwich with a Thai Ice Tea... food took about 5 mins to make. Gentleman that rang me up was polite, good service. What I love about BanhMi is that I get to meet my carnivorous needs but also I get vegetables and the cilantro/bell pepper/jalapeño adders make these sandwiches just perfect Great job Mr Bank Mi! I'm in SF a lot so I'll add this to my list of frequented places.

I ordered a fancy pork bahn mi from Mr. Bahn Mi and was overall satisfied. I really enjoyed the large amount of vegetables, and the meat and other toppings were great too. However, I would have liked the sandwich to be a bit saucier, and the bread was a bit too tough for my liking. The location is a bit far, in Outer Richmond, and there is no seating, so it's not the best place to go if you're looking for a leisurely meal. However, the food is good and the prices are reasonable, so I would still recommend it.

Ordered the bbq pork and combination banh mi -- both were delicious and well made! Also got the Vietnamese yogurt and coconut jelly to go. Service was quick and efficient. Tip: The Vietnamese yogurt is a silent banger -- super silky and good!

I really hate to admit that it's getting harder and harder to find a banh mi for under $10 (including tax and tip) in SF. Mr. Banh Mi still dishes out packed rolls for $8-9 and they offer 2 vegan options -tofu or veggies. The tofu is marinated in a teriyaki sauce, so it's not just dry and plain. It is packed with veggies and the jalapenos are spicy. They also offer vegan spring rolls for about the same price. Great spot to pick up and enjoy at GGP or the beach down the road!

Happen to be in the area and found Mr Banh Mi. It looks unassuming, with just a pick up window (no seating, but there's a parklet right nearby for Devils Teeth Baking Company and many other banh mi goers sat there). My go to banh mi is always thit nuong/BBQ Pork, so I had to order that, and wow - really solid banh mi! Food: The bread was a nice chewy soft texture with slightly crisp outside (not too thick either). The meat was SO juicy and tasty! It almost had more "bbq" sauce to it (thinking very much like bulgolgi) versus being a more dry meat. They give a nice portion of the pickled carrots/daikon (though personally for me it could have been more sour/pickled in flavor), as well as a couple slivers of jalepeno and a slice of cucumber. Price: It's a little pricier at $8.95 per banh mi compared to other places I frequent, but seems on par for SF; total ~$24 for 2 BBQ pork banh mis and 2 diet cokes. Service: There was almost a constant trickle of people walking up to the window to order and pick up; the service was courteous and fast. Definitely satisfied my banh mi craving and recommend this banh mi shoo if you're in the Balboa/golden gate park area!

Probably the best PRICE-TO-FILLING ratio in the area. At $10, you get a delicious loaded banh mi! Although it is nothing like the banh mi in Sac or SJ, it's a great option when I have a quick grab and go meal.

One of my go to lunch spots - I always call in, get the number 3 and it's always ready for me in just 5-10 min. There usually some spots for you to pull in quickly to park and grab your banh mi! Service is quick and the staff are nice :)

Still my fav banh mi on the west side. I like the bbq shrimp which is not a common one to find. Service is always quick, I recommend calling in your order. Theres no where to eat inside, so i recommend eating on a park bench nearby, or taking it over to Hockey Haven nearby.

Must try: their banh mi of course Why visit? I think I must have went on an off day because when I got my sandwich it was probably one of the driest that I've had even though I was really having high expectations for this place, I'll give it a try next time Protip: make sure you get your paté

Very solid banh mi place and very well-priced. The shop is mainly pick-up and the staff is really friendly! I only ordered a sandwich - BBQ pork with fried egg - and it came out pretty quickly (around 5 min wait). The fried egg extra is a must!!! What a deliciously and fully packed sandwich! Super juicy meat, amazing flavors, and very filling. I actually ate only half of the sandwich and saved the other half for a later meal. It was that big lol. If I'm in the area again, I will definitely be coming back!

Got a BBQ pork sandwich. I make my reviews based off of cost to taste value. For $9.95 it was a pretty decent sandwich. Would I go back? Probably not. There are other $10 Vietnamese sandwiches that are comparable and better. I'm also someone that believes that these sandwiches should be cheap, so for $10, it better be damn good.

My boyfriend and I got their BBQ Pork sandwiches, beef spring rolls, and a Thai Tea. We only waited about 5-10 minutes to get our food. Their bread was toasted and flakey. The bbq pork was delicious. What surprised me was their BEEF spring rolls--I never had spring rolls with beef before, so I was intrigued. The beef was seasoned so well!! 10/10, we will be coming back!!

Honestly, the best banh mi I have been able to find in SF and decent price and size as well! I forgot to take photos since I was eating them at the park, but it's a standard banh mi even down to the pickled carrots and dicon and jalapeño and cilantro. I think my favorite was the BBQ pork, juicy and tender meat inside a crispy sandwich. I even took the sandwich home for lunch and ate it two days later and after heating it up in the air fryer, it retained its crunchiness which was the best part of it being a leftover. I would definitely come again, this place was amazing. There's just nowhere to sit, you order at the window and can eat at GGP.

Finally they are back. They were on vacation for awhile. Today I ordered a BBQ Pork Banh Mi. It cost me $9.72 with taxes. The size is average, but the meat portion is kinda small and they put tons of pickled carrots. For me, the BBQ Pork Banh Mi just taste okay. Customer service is great! :)

Great spot to pick up Vietnamese sandwiches (Banh Mi) if you're in the area! I ordered the: - Shrimp spring rolls - this comes with peanut sauce and has noodles, lettuce and shrimp inside of the rice paper roll. Kind of plain for what you are paying for ($7). I would rate this a 2/5 stars. - Special Combination Bahn Mi - this comes with a variety of pork and ham meats with carrots, cucumber, cilantro and jalapeños inside. 5/5 stars Metered or street parking in this area.

One thing I know I can count on when traveling to San Francisco, is knowing for sure I'll find good unique food that I can't find in the super small Nevada town I live in. One of my FAVORITE meals is Báhn Mì and Shrimp Spring rolls! So when my friend and I visited, I intentionally looked it up. Enter Mr Báhn Mì!!!! A small walk up business by the ocean which had the BEST Báhn Mì I've legit ever had. Parking was crazy because it's meter street parking only. They don't have a parking lot. So sometimes you have to circle the block waiting for a spot or find one further away and walk. We got lucky and got one SUPER close!! We got a BBQ Beef and a Pork Belly Báhn Mì and some spring rolls with peanut sauce and shared! We each tried a half of each sandwich and the BBQ Beef was flavorful and AMAZING!! The pork belly wasn't as good as we was expecting, and the spring rolls were awesome but had a bit too much mint for my liking. Next time I'd order it without, because it was over powering for me. The sandwich was everything and I want to try the BBQ Pork next time!!!

Top quality viet sandwich, stuffed generously to the brim with ingredients that make you want to keep chowing down. Ordered the dac biet (special) which had everything: viet hams, pork, loafs, etc etc, pickled daikon, carrots, nice healthy slice of jalapeño. Honestly great money for value, under 10 bucks. Superb sandwich. I ate half for lunch and was full, kept the other half for a snack tomorrow

A quick a delicious lunch spot in the Outer Richmond. This is a pick up window business, with friendly quick service where they make fresh bahn mi on order and other fare. The baguette is crisp, but not enough to cut the roof of your mouth, and soft inside, with ample meat and veggie filling. I usually get the BBQ chicken or pork and some spring rolls with a Vietnamese coffee and can of grass jelly. A good size sandwich that is filling for my partner, but half is usually enough for me. This business is related to Kim Son across the street

Great portion size! Fresh, crispy, and soft baguette with minimal crust fallout. Tender, glistening, and genuine BBQ chicken breast meat. I love the amount of zesty pickled carrot that is included. Quick service, ~5-10 min wait around 10:30am on the weekday. Good pick for an easy & casual breakfast/lunch. I would return!

My friend who knows Asian food and lives around the corner from this place recommended that I go here. I don't eat a lot of banh mi but I know what I like. Three things need to be right: the bread, the veggies and the meat. This place has all three. I don't know if there is a specific roll that is made for banh mi, but this is one of the best types I've had. Bread can make or break a sandwich. This roll was soft with a crispy crust - but not flaky. The veggies had a nicely pickled flavor. The veggies can also make or break a banh mi because it gives it that distinct flavor. Strangely enough, the meat seems the least important, but also very important. The chicken was tasty and added to the experience. I've been here several times and will continue to come back when I'm in the mood for a good banh mi.

I grew up in SoCal and the Đặc Biệt bánh mì tastes just like the ones from Westminster Little Saigon except with SF prices. That said I'll begrudgingly pay the price because it truly is the best I've had in SF and reminds me of the good viet food I so miss and crave...and I know I'm going to want this again in a few days.

Hands down my favorite Vietnamese banh mi shop. I haven't been to the actual location but I order delivery from them all the time. I always get their dac biet (combo pork) and I'm always blown away at how stuffed it is with meat and pickled veggies. I've also ordered their spring rolls and it's pretty stuffed too. Tasty place! Will continue to order from them again and again.

Mr. Banh Mi is a small hidden gem in the area. I had several family members and friends who rave about this place to me. When I am in the area with my cousin, we would order to go here for lunch before heading back to the East Bay and my friends even had this place cater to their wedding. It is a bit busy on this street, so parking can be hit or miss here - I usually park off to the side on the side street. Since it is mostly a to go sort of place (they have some bar style seating along the aisle) , do not expect any kind of good or friendly service and sometimes this place is packed with a lot of people waiting, so if you are in a hurry, this is probably not the place for you because the wait could be awhile. Sometimes, I would order a banh mi and go across the street to Purple Kow to get a boba while waiting. I always get their Special Combination banh mi. It is packed with meat and sometimes, I eat half then save and eat the other half for later. The banh mis are good and inexpensive.

Best best best best bahn mi ever!!!! I get tofu and he gets bbq chicken, hopefully a few times a month. Always the tasiest, most consistent, friendliest and easiest ordering/pick up. When they opened back up from holiday, it was like it was my holiday now!! Thank youu, Mr bahn mi!! I love youu!

I have been craving for Việt sandwich lately. I would say they have the best quality+quantity of meat and taste and I don't mind driving across the park just to get their sandwiches. I always get the bbq beef and the combo. I eat 1/2 and 1/2 and save the rest for my next meal. Oops, I didn't take any pictures

They make the best Tofu Spring Rolls, better than all of SF bay area. The Fried Imperial Rolls are amazing, fresh and super crispy and lots of filling inside! Their bbq Beef sandwich is also very good!!! Mmmmmm!!! The best ever!!

Just got a basic chicken sandwich and was super sawed and simple fresh ingredients and it was not a lettuce sandwich. It was an actual sandwich that followed the description and the price not a lettuce sandwich. Located right next-door to the devils Richmond place that wasted $11 my time and my money and gave me a lettuce sandwich that wasn't even edible, please support Mr banh mi as its great

Located in the Outer Richmond on Balboa St. across Purple Kow and Pho Kim Long. I always snicker at the latter's name...so epic. Wifey wanted to get the sammiches here after walking around Golden Gate Park a few weekends ago and I had to oblige. I decided on the Vietnamese Headcheese (Gio Thu - $7.95) while wifey had the BBQ Beef (Bo Nurong - $8.50) and my niece had the BBQ Pork (Thit Nurong - $7.95). All the sammiches come with cucumbers, cilantro, pickled carrots, daikon, Vietnamese mayo and jalapenos. For extras, you can add fried egg ($1.50), pate and veggies for 0.75 cents each. I decided to add pate on my order. They follow current COVID guidelines and I waited for our order outside the door while wifey and my niece proceeded to get some drinks across the street. While waiting outside, I noticed they had a cute logo of a chef wearing a chef hat in a form of a Vietnamese Baguette and thought it was genius. After approximately 10 minutes, our order was ready and brought them to car while I waited for the ladies. We drove to Lands End to enjoy the sammiches while having a nice view for our meal. I only ate half of my sammich due to the size and thick cuts of the headcheese. Flavor-wise, it could've used more oomph and the jalapenos didn't have a kick, which I was expecting. The baguette was decent but overall satisfactory. I had a taste of both the BBQ Beef and BBQ Pork, which both have more flavor compared to mine so take note. They certainly don't skimp on the meat either. When I got home a few hours later, I popped the other half in the air fryer and that's when all the flavors came out. The headcheese became crispy and saltier (which is a good thing) as it was definitely lacking in flavor earlier. But this is only for the headcheese though as both the pork and beef were on point. Overall, I'd rate it a 3 1/2 stars as the price and portions made up for it. I'd also know what to order the next time and maybe try their other menu items as well.

Solid banh mi spot for a solid price. Can't say anything bad about this place! Checks off all the right boxes and they don't skimp out on the meat! My combo banh mi was packed with meat and pickled carrots/radish just how I like it. I have definitely had better banh mi, but Mr Banh Mi is near the top of that list for sure! Food was prepared quickly and the staff were kind. Maybe next time I'll try their tofu or BBQ pork banh mi. Happy eating : P

A solid banh mi, though lacking in what T.Y. Sandwich would give you. While the sub-$10 price point is fantastic for a combo sandwich, and they load this thing with carrots and cold cuts, the flavor and bread are lacking. As I was eating the sandwich, I kept wondering why I wasn't enjoying it as much as I should have. The wife was wondering the same, and then it dawned on me that it just didn't have much flavor. You couldn't tell that the carrots or radish were pickled, and the cold cuts were just bland. The bread did a good job of holding the sandwich together, but it wasn't as crispy or as soft (on the interior) as the bread from T.Y. Overall, I'd come back because it's a huge sandwich for less than $10, but if I'm close to home, it's T.Y. for sure.
