"Unanimously crowd-pleasing meals are few and far between—but the brunch at Mr Bao is one of them. Every weekend the Taiwanese restaurant in Peckham is packed with toddlers being placated with crispy fried chicken, sparkle-wearing groups pausing mid-bite of hash brown bao to sing ‘Happy Birthday’, and those attempting to soothe sore heads with kimchi pancakes. Whatever the reason you’re here, order the Bec Bao—char siu bacon, peanut chilli crisp, onsen egg, burnt cheese." - jake missing, rianne shlebak, sinead cranna
"Son to its Tooting father, this Peckham Taiwanese spot is offering a frozen dumpling delivery service within two miles of SE15. Email tables@daddybao.com with your details and order amount." - heidi lauth beasley, jake missing, rianne shlebak
"Remember the good tests at school? Ones where you were very confident (or had a bottle of water with some very interesting and useful ingredients). Going to Mr Bao is a bit like having one of those tests. You cross things off the Taiwanese menu, and, because pretty much everything here is tasty and nice, it’s hard to fail. The baos are great, especially the mushroom and chicken ones, while the small plates are almost all consistent crowd-pleasers as well. Make sure you swing by for brunch for the Bec Bao—char siu bacon, peanut chilli crisp, onsen egg, burnt cheese—too." - heidi lauth beasley, jake missing, rianne shlebak, sinead cranna, daisy meager, riaz phillips
"If you’re around Peckham, consider getting in touch with Mr Bao. They’re delivering packs of frozen dumplings as well as favourites from their menu. Order here." - oliver feldman, heidi lauth beasley, jake missing, rianne shlebak
"This Taiwanese restaurant in Peckham specialises in bao and is pretty much impossible to hate. Much like the setting, the menu is small and sweet. Although there aren’t countless options, vegetarian or otherwise, all you need to know is that the best thing here is their shiitake mushroom bao with teriyaki and miso mayo. If for some reason you don’t like the sound of that, the tofu bao with squash kimchi is also a winner, and you can’t go wrong with their smacked cucumber or sweet potato chips." - heidi lauth beasley, rianne shlebak, jake missing
