Mr. Fried Rice

One of the spots in a cool little food court very near Times Square and my hotel. Prawns sis have a spicy red colored pepper that I was not expecting, picked them out. Not too long to cook, I ordered at counter. Still very hot when I got back to my room.

MUST get the coffee pork, it was insanely tender (even the bits of fat at the ends) and had a strong savory flavor. I didn't necessarily taste coffee but the sauce had a great depth to its saltiness. The egg fried rice by itself wasn't as amazing but definitely not bad - the neutral flavor and dry, crispy texture of the fried egg bits complemented the rich pork sauce well.

Got the #1 (signature fried rice). Flavor was good, i little bit dry though. Udon was very salty, had to wash of the noodles with water for it to be edible. Next time ill try the pork chops over rice. Recommend getting the #1 (signature fried rice) to try it out, and if you like the flavor then explore the menu.

Ordered #1 and it was really good. I don’t why people say it lack flavors. But it tasted like Salted Fish Fried Rice but this has Chinese sausage and salted shrimp. I would order it again when I’m in Midtown for a conference.

Came to this spot on my 2nd visit to the Urban Hawker and they have a decent selection of rice dishes there. I stuck with the classic staple of Singapore fried rice and I was a bit dismayed by the portion of it at first but trust me, it's very filling so it packs more than what you see at first glance. I took a bite out of it and it felt like an out of world experience. I don't think I've EVER had fried rice that made me feel the myriad of emotions that I've felt, it was a bona-fide dopamine hit. I wish I could come here almost every day but the place is a bit out of my way but trust, I will take any opportunity to sample such a dish like this again. I can't even fathom how something so simple would be this delightful.

Hidden gem! Umami alert!! If you are craving for a killer( Uncle Roger) fried rice, check this out. Great balance of flavor, portion and price. Rice which was not soggy , finely chopped veggies ,eggs and shrimp. Simple, no frills and just perfect! Almost just as good as what you get in Singapore food courts.

I should’ve read the reviews beforehand. I came over this week for a quick lunch and was sorely disappointed. I went with their signature Singapore rice and found it dry and lacking in much flavor. It could’ve benefited a bit from some chili oil but even then, it wouldn’t have been worth the price. I’d give this place a pass.

I had the fried rice with salmon. How they picture it in the menu is different from how it was served. The sauce on the side doesn’t complement the salmon. I was expecting a broiled/grilled salmon like how they presented it in their menu. What I liked most was the fried rice hence the name of the restaurant.

Staffs were friendly. Located in Urban Hawker. Ordered shrimp fried rice, food was good. Would recommend coming here again. Food: 4/5 Service: 4/5 Ambience: 4/5

I came very tired and hungry and the Fried Rice with Pork Chop immensely satisfied my hunger. It's cooked so well too. It's surprisingly authentic! Loved the flavor although a thicker pork chop would have been more satisfying. When traveling away from Vancouver, Canada, I never attempt to order Chinese or Asian as it almost always is disappointing. But boy am I impressed with this. I highly recommend this. Kudos to you!

One of my friends hit up the fried rice stall. I believe he got the rices above. I adored the texture of their rice. It wasn't too soft or mushy. Tho one in our party thought it was too hard and undercooked, so I think it depends on preference. I guess I'd compare this to al dente pasta which I prefer. The singapore fried rice was better as it had more flavor. I think the meat helped. Good option for fried rice. REVIEW #3404

Well the name says it all. If you're craving fried rice, this is your spot. I ordered the Singapore Signature Fried Rice ($16). Was filling and hit the spot. If you came with a group, would be worth supplementing this with another food vendor in the food court.

2nd visit here and 6th trip to Urban Hawker overall. Had the Porkchop with fried rice this time and that was another delicious dish. One small nitpick would be that the rice was a tad bit on the salty side but that's nothing a refreshing drink won't fix.

My favorite place in urban hawker. I've had their pork chop fried rice, shrimp fried rice and most recently fried fish fried rice. The portions are huge and around $15-$18. Service is pretty fast. They give you a button that vibrates once your food is ready.

Located inside the urban hawker food court. I got the teriyaki salmon fried rice for lunch and it tasted so-so. $20 for the rice seems pretty steep for its quality.

Came here for lunch today on a Friday. It wasn't very busy and I got my food very quickly. It was a pretty decent portion for the price. And it was pretty good. Would come here if you're nearby. The inside was very nice.

Located at a stall in the new Urban Hawker food court, promising a Singapore-style hawker experience, it fell short of expectations. Priced steeply at around $20 for fried rice, the food lacked distinctiveness and value. The meat in my fried rice was overcooked and the choice to pair fried rice with lettuce felt misplaced. The saving grace was the decent "wok air" flavor of the rice, lending a desirable smokiness. However, this did little to offset the overall underwhelming meal. I hope for improvements in both food quality and pricing for a more authentic hawker experience.

I was excited and had high hopes for this place but the food I ordered which is the Signature Singapore Fried Rice was far from great. It was very basic, didn't have much flavor, rice was a little crunchy, and it didn't look anything like the photos they have on their menu. And it's also quite expensive. Definitely not worth it.

Mr. Fried Rice is a Singaporean restaurant located in the food hall Urbanhawker. This food hall is massive and very spacious! It's at Midtown West and I loved it there! I would say I saw over 12+ vendors. I got Homemade Pork Chop - Fried with Egg fried rice. It was incredible, especially that rice!!

The food was satisfying. The portion was reasonable for the price. I wouldn't say it the best fried rice I ever had but I did enjoy it and would recommend it. The people at the counter were very nice and service was quick too. The place is inside Urban Hawker which has a very cool atmosphere. When I came there was plenty of seating and it didn't feel too crowded, but it also wasn't empty. I have feeling it'll eventually become a go to place for tourists in a few years considering how close it is to time square. Definitely recommend coming and trying this place out!

So they are located in Urban Hawker which is big food court in midtown right by Radio City Music Hall. There are entrances from both 50th St and 51st St. Mr Fried Rice is almost in the middle right by steps. They have about 6 or 7 options of fried rice. I don't recall which one I had but it was very good. You place your order and they give you a buzzer and when it's ready you'll know which allows you to maybe look around, grab seating(which is shared with everyone) or just wait. I plan on coming back to try each one.

While the flavor of the fried rice was decent, I found the texture to be a bit disappointing. The rice was a bit too mushy and soggy for my liking, which affected the overall experience. Ideally, I prefer fried rice with a satisfying al dente texture, where each individual grain is distinct and separated.

I ordered the Egg Fried Rice and was a little disappointed with the flavor. It didn't taste too different from eating just white rice and the egg was mixed so finely/sparse that I nearly couldn't taste it at all. The texture of the rice was good and it's not like I disliked the rice, I just expected more from a place that specializes in it. The location itself is really nice. It's a small stand inside the Urban Hawker and even though we arrived right after work, the line was short and service was quick and friendly. I tried a few pieces of my partner's chicken that he ordered and enjoyed it, so I definitely recommend getting something with your rice so that it's not too plain.

I was looking for a kid-friendly meal that wasn't spicy and thought the teriyaki salmon was a good choice. You pay, get a pager and wait. For fried rice, it was a long wait. Portion size is big but for almost $20, I thought it would be more eye opening. Taste was just okay as the rice was harder than I liked. The piece of salmon was large but the accompanying greens was lackluster. I actually prefer the fried rice in the sushi spots more for a lower price. Glad I tried this stall but it was just okay for us.

Ordered the singapore fried rice for the first time. It came with a small egg drop soup which I wasn't expecting. The soup was hot, which was nice, as it is is bit chilly today, but doesn't have much flavor. The rice is surprising too al'dente. I never had fried rice this hard. It is not crunchy, but too hard. The rice has dried shrimp and chinese sausage as well as egg in it. Flavor is mild, but leaves greasey mouth feel. Also.. why not serve in traditional paper container from chinese restaurants - why use this giant plastic clam shell container. It would probably stay better in the paper container - at least it stays hot when packed in.

, Yummy I came after 6 PM and like I can use my fingers to count how many people on line ahead of me They got about 6 main rice dishes, BBQ Stingray, Shrimp, Crispy Fish, Salmon, Prawn paste Chicken, and like 4 different rice options for each one, egg, Thai, spicy mala, and XO, so you do the math I went for the Pork Chop rice dish with the Thai Tom Yum fried rice. The staff of 5 here have zero idle time and they are working like robots, and soabout 10 to 15 minutes later my order is ready. You get a big size scoop of the rice which had a lite mix of egg and veggies with a few thin pieces of pork chop no bone on top and some greens as garnish. it tasted good, the pork chop was lightly season and the Tom Yum rice was mildly spicy. The heat builds up with every bite but not by much. I ate it all , and for sure will come back to try the fish and maybe that Prawn paste Chicken to find out what that's about.

This place is terrible do not go here. I got the teriyaki salmon fried rice. For the fact their specialty is supposedly fried rice, it was just brown rice. I was shocked and felt like I had been mislead. There was also random lettuce with the fried rice. The salmon I had to teriyaki myself. I think the people who said they liked this place were tourists that just wanted plain brown rice. Also part of the reason I was so upset was because it was expensive.

This place was located inside of Urban Hawker, which had a bunch of different Asian cuisine restaurants. It was very crowded when we got there and hence, hard to find seating. In addition, Urban had very dim lighting. The food was very very mild. The fried rice had absolutely no seasoning or taste. They had their special prawn paste sauce on the side for us to mix it in, which also did not add much flavor to the rice. I ordered their prawn paste chicken fried rice shrimp so thought I would get chicken and prawns but it was only the chicken in there. The chicken was just fried and given separately and not mixed in with the rice. For the price in NY for the quantity, it wasn't bad but the food just was not great, disappointed! This is a shop inside Urban Hawker. I love fried rice. This place has a variety of fried rice, so it's heaven for me!!

Had the bbq stingray fried rice per recommendations online and it is quite amazing. I could have used more heat but was good even as is.

Disappointing pork chop and fried rice that came with some limp lettuce. I've seen the travel shows and was looking forward to this. The only flavor in this dish seems to be white pepper. My Cantonese aunt made tastier pork chops and I made tastier Spam fried rice. I've watched Uncle Roger on YouTube and videos of making egg fried rice and I was looking forward to seeing what it is all about. This egg fried rice is a lot of rice, bits of eggs, and white pepper. Nothing that looks like what is in the videos.

The food is so-so, and the customer service is poor. I really wanted to like this place, but with the overpriced entrees and subpar service, it made having a positive experience difficult.

Taste was very authentic and old-school; reminiscent of street food in China from the 90's. Food was piping hot, fresh, and bursting with flavor. The chef was a wok master!

Disaster at lunch time. While the line moved reasonably ok, the food took 40 minutes to arrive. It seems they ran out of rice (isn't this all they do?) and had to prepare more. What's worse, when they were ready to get going again they started serving their new orders first, ignoring the older ones for later. Had the sting ray fried rice. The rice tasted - rushed. The meat and sambal were good. Be preprared for a potentially very long wait when ordering at lunch time - May not be worth it given the other options.

Really good and authentic Singaporean fried rice! Staff was efficient and very nice, and it was peanut/tree nut free which is always a plus! It even came with a little salad which I was not expecting.
