I'm in from out of town and ordered delivery to my hotel. They're busy and rushed. I was put on hold four times during the course of my call. The food was delivered hot and fresh within about 40 minutes. That's not bad for delivery!
I got the House Specialty Soup. I didn't ask what it was; I just ordered blindly from the online menu which has names, but not descriptions. I figured that if it's a house specialty, it would be worth a try. It had a little of everything: pork, chicken, shrimp, and a bunch of vegetables (which were fresh and not over done)! Fresh and warm, but surprisingly somewhat bland. I expected spice, but didn't even get a lot of salt. If anything, one of the mushrooms I ate tasted a little fishy. Odd.
The Hunan Triple Delight is a mix of three types of meat and some veggies. While there were red pepper flakes to give it flavor and depth, I found the sauce to be pretty oily and the saltiness of this dish was overpowering and, therefore disappointing.
The garlic eggplant is delicious. Sometimes with delivery, a dish like this can go soggy and slimy. This stayed warm and perfect. This was the winning dish that was delivered. Unfortunately, you can't eat too much of an eggplant dish at one sitting and I can't take it with me on the plane in the morning (and my seat mates on the plane wouldn't like it if I did).
This one is worth getting as it's full of flavor and texture.
Their website linked to this page has a coupon to get a free order of Crab Rangoon. And, though not something I'd typically order with a meal like this, these were delicious.
A choice of rice come with each dish: either steamed white rice or fried rice.
I ordered fried rice for one dish and did an upgrade to vegetable noodles (chow mien) for the other dish. They sent just plain white rice instead of fried rice. The vegetable chow mien was just plain... plain... and boring: bland and oily.
Maybe I expected too much of a Chinese restaurant in Lincoln. I'm from the San Francisco Bay Area and have good choices there. I don't know... I saw the other reviews that gave four and five stars and got excited. This is Just OK Chinese food. They kept their flavors low and boring and their sauces oily. They got part of the order wrong. To my mind, it was two to three stars at best. I don't know if I'd be back.
Pros: Crab Rangoon, Garlic Eggplant, and hot/fresh delivery
Cons: The flavor profile ranges from really Bland to very Salty. All of the dishes are kind of Oily. And they got part of the order wrong
I'm not a fan of mediocrity. I know they can do better. I just won't get to experience it.
