Millennial fossil here.
There's been hype about Mr. Mahjong's, a new bar/club but I can't make it to 10 pm when the DJ starts spinning so this review is not about the nightlife.
It's about escaping the sad lunch desk at work which is a completely different vibe.
Mr. Mahjong softly opened in late August - chill lunch spot by day, HH after work, and a club after 10 pm (depending on the night, there may be a cover). Brought to you by the owner of Skylark.
Open for takeout, delivery (B1, G1 free offers on UberEats), and indoor dining. There's two outdoor tables.

Bar bites, dim sum, and bánh mì.
I recognized the chef from Ben Tre, the sister of Mr. Gao.
Currently, no HH specials.
Kitchen closes at 8 pm on the weekdays and 10 pm on the weekends.
Like Skylark, they charge a 10% service fee (not considered a tip) + 3% credit card fee. I wish they would just build these fees into their prices.

* Popcorn Chicken Cartilage ($13) // 4 Stars: https://tinyurl.com/2effxsfh
- Choice of regular or spicy (choose spicy)
Fav item and perfect for the drunchies (I wasn't drinking tho) - hot and crunchy with a gelatinous chew. Very similar to sụn gà chiên giòn, Viet style chicken cartilage. The "chili" sauce is on the bottom and reminds me of sweet chili sauce so it's not spicy. The crunchy Korean style pickled radish gave refreshing in-between bites.
* Har Gow: Shrimp Dumplings (4 pc - $9) // 3 Stars: https://tinyurl.com/4b9fvt55
Plump shrimp filling with a bouncy firm bite. The wrapper needs work tho, it was thiccc + gummy with holes and tears.
* Bánh Mì Đặc Biệt: Combo Cold Cut w/ headcheese, pork belly, fancy pork, pâté ($11) // 3.75 Stars: https://tinyurl.com/yc8mppma
Pretty good bánh mì with a good ratio of savory cold cuts to a crackly soft baguette (doesn't cut the roof of your mouth or shatter into crumbs) with fresh veggies (no jalapeno). I think they forgot the butter cut mayo because it was quite dry.
Washed everything down with a club soda...$5 for a 7.5 oz can tho? Eeck.

Formerly Topsy's Bar, Mr. Mahjong's has a similar dark moody vibe with updates to their artwork (Chinese inspired), red lighting, and furnishings. It's a small space so it feels more like a dive-y bar vs club. I was told the basement area is not open yet...maybe there will be more room for dancing there?
Quiet during lunchtime so a good option if you need a space to escape the office. I was hoping they would have a hip hop or r&b playlist but they were playing some random genres.

Positive about coming here late night is easy street parking for your DD since it's in the FiDi.
Overall, nice to see new places poppin' up in the FiDi. If you're looking for new scene, hit up Mr. Mahjong's!
