NYC’s New Restaurant Openings - New York - The Infatuation

"Mr. Nancy’s is a bar that serves $6 beer-shot combos and chili, but there’s also a dance floor with a disco ball, so you can really do it all. The Ridgewood dive is open seven days a week from 5pm-2am, so keep it mind if you’re looking for a late-night weekday cocktail. There’s also karaoke on Thursdays at 9pm." - will hartman, willa moore, molly fitzpatrick, sonal shah, bryan kim

The NYC Bar Hit List: Great New Bars In NYC - New York - The Infatuation

"At Mr. Nancy's, a bar in Ridgewood, there are three rules, written on a sign behind the bar: No Dancing, No Kissing, and Try The Chili. We're almost positive the first two are a joke, but the third commandment should be taken seriously. The chili is thick and meaty, with a blanket of melted white cheddar on top, a sides of pickled jalapeños and a small bag of Fritos. It pairs well with an amaretto sour at the bar up front, or in the soundproof phone booth room with exactly two chairs where you can sit with a date. (No Kissing.)" - bryan kim, molly fitzpatrick, willa moore, will hartman, sonal shah, andrew ryce

Built under the Seneca Ave subway line, the location already feels iconic before you even walk in. They’ve done a great job keeping the retro charm intact . Dope glass block windows, cork-paneled walls, and a mid-century bar setup that feels like stepping into the 1950s but with a modern twist. There’s a spacious back area that’s well-decorated and cozy, and I especially loved the “secret date night telephone booth” tucked near the kitchen. It’s a subtle detail that makes the place feel a little more special. Drinks are super reasonably priced: • $6 beer and a shot combo (yes, real draft beer!) • They’ve also got $1 hot coffee all day, which is a rare find anywhere in the city. The crowd was chill, the service was friendly, and the vibe was easygoing. Perfect spot for date night, catching up with friends, or even just grabbing a solo drink. I’m definitely coming back. The space, prices, and energy are exactly what Ridgewood needed.

Exciting new bar - ask for a paper menu for beer selection. The building has been vacant since the previous family-owned bar closed in 2005, and it's been remodeled without losing its original energy. Vegan options for everything on the menu (hot dogs, chili, burgers, chili fries & chili dogs). Happy hour 5-7

Mr. Nancy’s feels like the kind of bar you hope to stumble into but rarely do—a clean, thoughtfully designed space that strikes a perfect balance between old-school charm and modern polish. It’s a true neighborhood bar for grown-ups: no gimmicks, no pretension—just well made cocktails, a killer spirits list, and the kind of relaxed vibe that makes it dangerously easy to stay for one more round. The cocktail menu is dialed in—well-executed classics with just enough personality to keep things interesting. Whether you’re craving a properly made Old Fashioned or something seasonal and stirred, you’re in good hands behind the bar. The back bar itself is a quiet flex: a shallow bench of great whiskey, rum, mezcal, and amaro that shows someone here knows what they’re doing. Mr. Nancy’s doesn’t need to shout to be impressive—it wins you over by being the kind of place that gets all the little things right. Looking forward to seeing some comedy nights there. And oh yeah… try the chili.
