9 SF Bars & Restaurants With Live Music

"If you’re looking for that rare combination of jazz and dim sum, there’s no better place than Mr. Tipple’s Jazz Club. The jazz acts at this Civic Center bar take their cue from the speakeasy era, performing in flapper dresses and sports coats. Order some serviceable dim sum like shrimp siu mai, chicken wontons topped with sichuan chili oil, and XLB while you listen. Walk-ins are welcome, but you should make a reservation on weekends." - julia chen 1, ricky rodriguez, patrick wong

Where to Go for First Date Drinks in San Francisco | Eater SF

"Live music may seem too loud for a first date, but the upbeat jazz (no cover) and lively scene at Mr. Tipples will work in your favor in this case. Over snacks and expert cocktails from the Maven team you can either have such a good time that you end up dancing, or be grateful for the music to fill the space if conversation falls silent." - Eater Staff

A lovely evening at this fun jazz place. The band was smooth and the drinks were fun. The food was surprisingly really good. Loved the pork and chicken wanton dumplings as well as the crispy salmon entree. Definitely going back for the ambience, the intimate music setting and the menu options.

Google
Great vibe, good music, good sound and good food ! My husband and I enjoyed our date night. What I worried most about was the food, but surprisingly good. I had a lot of dumplings and they came out all piping hot, steaming and it was juicy ! A cocktail I ordered was okay (I may try another next time), but my husband was happy and pleasantly surprised to find that the bar actually has a good selection of good whiskey. A big plus. I had a “music focused seats” in front of the band and I was glad I did. Seats are comfortable and feel great.

An amazing experience with an exceptional band! The food, service, and cocktails deserve just as much applause!

I came here for date night and wow this was such an awesome experience! We got the $20 pp best in the house seats and the $45pp tasting menu for SF restaurant week. Good: - The experience was just so well curated the moment you enter the door! It feels like you've just entered into a different universe, the place has a very speakeasy vibe, and dimly lit. - The artist playing had their birthday the same day! So it was fun to see them having fun while playing with their band - The food from The Fat Cat was amazing - the quality and the variety was great - the bao was amazing and so well proportioned, the short rib entree had a ton of flavor and crispy rice was so good. The dessert was amazing too - my favorite was the egg waffle with the ice cream. The sampler dim sum dish was so unique too - They have no alcohol CBD drinks! Haven't seen that yet in the city. Bad: - It does take some time to flag down the waiters since it's hard to see inside and we had to flag them down ourselves most of the time. - You can't talk during the set if you're sitting up front - it's way too loud and you also need to bring ear plugs Overall enjoyed this experience and getting to experience live jazz for the first time! I'd come again.

Man we really enjoyed our dinner and show. Super nice staff, delish food, yummy cocktails, musicians were incredible. Would definitely come again.

Stopped here 2 evenings while in SF. Music: one outstanding act of a touring vocal trio with local backup musicians, one solid but unmemorable local jazz group. Food: pretty good Chinese dumpling choices. Drinks: clearly an inspired bartender made the cocktails. Nice surroundings, friendly and accommodating staff. Good place to go if you like jazz.

Google
Overall, I enjoyed the experience at this jazz club. There seemed to be plenty of local crowds that seemed to know each other. Cosmo Alleycats performed on the night I attended and they mainly played standards and widely known blues with a few originals in between. Unfortunately, the seats from the bar weren't great as some pillars and tables in front blocked the view. Drinks were decent, nothing spectacular, but the bartender was cool.

Yelp
One of my all time fave SF jazz spots. Not only do they have an amazing rotation of musicians, but the vibe is on point, as well as the food, cocktails and service. I want to give a special shout out to Jessica and Chelan; excellent top notch service, friendly, helpful... overall lovely humans, and Mr Tipple's is blessed to have them there. Tonight we saw Marianne Solivan and her trio, while enjoying the bar's specialty miso old fashioned (to die for), and many plates of small bites plus their salmon plate (divine). This is an ideal date night location, and a great opportunity to dress up a little, though not necessary, but who doesn't love a reason to get a lil snazzy. It's such a chic atmosphere. Whomever designed the place put so much attention to detail, from the back lit panel walls to the custom fabric drapes, even the bathroom. What an amazing night out. Highly recommend. Will continue to return, and I highly recommend you do too.

Yelp
FRAUDULENT CHARGES - I purchased one set of tickets through Mr Tipple's website, and my credit card was instead charged THREE times for the tickets' total price. When I spoke with the manager about this, he refused to issue a refund, saying it was a "website" problem. To make matters worse, he proceeded to charge us full price for the mandatory food/beverage minimum and a significant mandatory tip on the entire cost, including cover charge, as previous reviewers have complained about. Needless to say, I will never go there again and wanted to warn others. Deeply disappointing, and I've confirmed through an attorney that this is completely illegal as well.

Yelp
Mr Tipple's Recording Studio is like a hidden gem of a date night spot! If you love specialty cocktails, dim sum, and live jazz, this is your jam. I think they normally have a cover charge (was $15 the night I went). You don't need a reservation unless you want a guaranteed up-close-to-the-stage table. If you don't have a reservation, you might only get bar seats which are not bad at all. Since I'm an Old Fashioned cocktail lover, I went with the "A Couple of Miso-Maple Old Fashioneds." It comes pre-mixed in a bottle that contains enough for two people and you can't just order this drink for one. The beverage itself was not bad but I probably wouldn't get again especially since they're charging a lot for pre-made stuff (i.e. not even mixing it in front of you). I'm taking off a star since they charge gratuity automatically on everything including the cover charge. Still, I'd come back, especially if there was an artist I was interested in seeing!

Yelp
Mr. Tipples embodies another era, and if you're lucky enough to imbibe, be ready to listen! Hand crafted cocktails, lovely wines, and piping hot dim sum. The jazz is titillating and classic to the form. Tip your waiters and musicians handsomely. This place is the real deal with an ambiance of the 1920s.

Yelp
Pricey. We spent about $90 for 2 of us including the entry fee. But the music was good and we enjoyed the crispy vegan pot stickers. The rest of the food was okay. I recommend eating first and going for the show and a beer. Cocktails are expensive here, even without alcohol, which I found a bit ridiculous. The staff was very friendly even though they were busy. They let us stay late because there were no reservations after us.

Yelp
Mr. Tipple's is incredible. My husband developed an interest in jazz a couple years ago, so a jazz club night out has always been on the list of things to do, but never got around to it. Until.... One day... when my TikTok showed me a video of a date night in SF at Mr. Tipple's and I was instantly sold. You book your reservations on OpenTable - choose your preferred seating section, pay, and wait for the big night to come. Located close to the Bill Graham Auditorium, parking on the streets can be somewhat tough during the night but there are parking garages around. We were lucky to swoop an open slot across the street. The vibe of the place was perfect for date night - the servers came by and spoke quietly to not disturb the music, the food came out quick and warm from the kitchen, and all in all it was a great night. I'd highly recommend if jazz and dumplings are your vibe.

Yelp
Tucked away near the ballet and symphony, we love to come here before a show. The musicians are wonderful and the bar and dining area is small so you feel like you are sitting in someone's living room. Food is limited but the gluten free and vegan options are quite good - a tofu clay pot rice is great as is the crispy potstickers. Cocktails are always excellent. Staff is efficient and low key. We highly recommend it.

Yelp
This jazz bar is an absolute gem! We ordered the pork and shrimp soup Mai, pork and spinach chili wontons, and finished off with a mochi waffle paired with earl grey ice cream. The food was delicious, and the cocktails were top-notch. But what really set the experience apart was the vibe. The ambience was amazing--intimate, yet lively, with an electric energy from the jazz band. You could feel the passion in the music, and it created the perfect backdrop for a fun night out or a romantic date. If you're looking for a great spot with excellent food, killer cocktails, and a fantastic live jazz experience, this is it!

Yelp
I went here for date night and it was a nice relaxing and romantic evening. For cocktails we ordered the Espresseado. The food/Dim sum was decent (6.5-7/10). I love that the servers were discreet and made sure not to interrupt or make too much noise during the live performance. On the night I visited though some items on the menu were not available for whatever reason. Not sure why? Maybe it was a one time thing? The only con I had was where we were seated. It was in the corner by the entrance so whenever someone opened the door it would be a bit noisy and it would throw off the ambience a bit. Other than that, this place is great. I know they have a rotating lineup for the performers so I will definitely be back later on and reserve other seats.

Yelp
Nice upscale jazz bar. Drinks were phenomenal and would like to come back for their food next time.

Yelp
It's hard to describe Mr. Tipple's with words - they've done such a phenomenal job crafting this absolutely incomparable atmosphere for music, drinks, and conversation that you have to experience to believe. Our party of 3 found our way to Mr. Tipple's after a Giants game on a chilly Saturday evening around 10PM. Because we didn't have a prior reservation, our very welcoming hostess offered us standing room near the bar with a $15 cover, with the promise that she would find us a table when one opened up and reservations were filled. They do have a dedicated seating area advertised towards more acoustically inclined guests at a slightly higher price point surrounding the stage. We ordered the Money Cat, a cantaloupe drink, and a glass of cab sauv. Although the red paired nicely with the music and the mood, my personal favorite was the Money Cat - a gently warm and citrusy treat. Because we had filled up at the game, we didn't get the chance to try out the dumpling popup that they are currently hosting, but hopefully we'll be able to try it again before they rotate out. The music for the evening was provided by the wonderful Kai Lyons trio, and suffice it to say we'll be back for any possible occasion to do it all over again.

Yelp
Love this spot! I've been here countless times and it never disappoints. Perfect date night spot. Max tables of 4-6 ppl so going with a small group is ideal. Service is attentive and friendly. Their latest popup is dumplings which are very yummy. Every dumpling we had was delicious. Usually they play 2 artists per night with a break. Highly recommend this jazz club.

Yelp
Honestly, a great place to enjoy great jazz! I wasn't expecting too much from the food but it was very tasty. The ambiance of the place was very cozy and vibey. This is a wonderful date night spot and I thoroughly enjoyed my time here. Just a heads up for the cover charge and automatic 20% gratuity!
google avatar

Yelp
This jazz bar is truly lovely! It gives speakeasy vibes with the graffiti door and curtain that masks the stage & bar area. I was able to get a walk in on a slower Saturday evening after about 15-20 minutes. It's nice to be able to still listen to music even while waiting. There's ample of seating in the back bar/standing area. I thought the CBD drinks were really smart for people who don't necessarily like alcohol. However it does make you a little tired. The music and service was great. Definitely would recommend to anyone!
google avatar

Yelp
Love Mr Tipple's! The ambiance is intimate but vibey and the service is always great. We tried their food and it was a lot better than expected! The band is super talented and create such a cozy atmosphere. Definitely recommend!

Yelp
I'm so happy to have discovered this unique, cozy, stylish venue! It is small, comfortable and affordable. The music (Stella Swings Ella" was terrific!

Yelp
SUCH A HIDDEN GEM! You'd never think dim sum and jazz would make a wonderful combination. The vibes in here are fantastic, so cozy and intimate. Music performers are always top notch and so interactive! Food is yummy, there's quite a variety on the menu. Drinks are DELISH and so unique! Servers are attentive and respectful. I can't believe more people don't know about it!

Yelp
Took my husband here for his birthday. The vibe, atmosphere and music/musicians were great. I'd deff come back for that, alone. $20-$35 cover charge and $20 food and beverage minimum, which is fair. The food and drink is the reason why I give this place a 3/5 stars (otherwise 5/5). It was so, blah. Unremarkable and just OK. You order from The Black Cat, which is an Asian inspired menu. At first sight, I was super excited to eat dim sum. The spinach and shrimp casing was dry and undercooked. The seafood dim sum just didn't taste food and the fried pot stickers tasted they came directly from the walmart frozen section. Duck bao tacos were the only for that was delicious. Mochi waffle with sesame ice cream,, never again. My mezcal cocktail was decent. Again, food want great. but if come back surely for the live music. I'd just come back haven eaten already and get straight shots of liquor.

Yelp
This jazz bar offers an intimate and cozy ambiance, making it an ideal spot for a date or a night out with friends. The musicians are incredibly talented, adding to the overall fantastic experience. Also, the food/drink menu has a lot of options to choose from. Highly recommended for anyone looking for a memorable evening of live jazz music.

Yelp
This is the coolest jazz bar in SF, hands down. The service is fantastic - listen carefully to the host because they want to seat as many people as they can for the music without crowding the bar too much so they will ask you to forfeit your table after a few hours. The food and drink are great, the money cat comes in this cute cat shaped cup.

Yelp
The food was lovely. With Delicate flavors that balance the fierce and passionate jazz, the evening is well spent surrounded by lively friends and clients. The restaurant has a soft and warm ambiance, and the service is wonderful. Looking forward to celebrating the coming autumn season at the Mr Tipples lounge!

Yelp
Terrible experience due to management and their inability to deal with standard process around reservations. I showed up at 7:25p for a 7:30p reservation. I heard the couple directly in front me say they had a 8p reservation but they were seated right away. When I got to speak to the hostess at 7:29p i was literally told I was 'early' for my reservation and would have to wait. I politely noted she just sat a table 30 mins early right in front of me which felt inappropriate as there were literally 8 people standing in the vestibule behind them but was given no reply. Furthermore, once we were sat at 7:35p we were certainly informed of the 90 min limit. But after 90 mins I noted there were literally 4 other 2 top tables open when we were forcibly brought the check and told we had to leave the table. I informed the manager of the 4 other open tables but was told those weren't the same reservations and he needed literally my 2 top table? I then also informed him of the error in seating the table literally right next to us 35 mins early and why were they permitted to keep sitting and had not been brought their check? He just said 'sorry' and said we must leave and then walked away. We walked to the bar area for another 30 mins and then left, but when leaving I made eye contact with the manager again noting to him that table next to me who he inappropriately gave my 7:30p table for their 8p reservation, was still at their table at 9:45p and still had no check, and he did nothing. This was my first visit and I can't believe the way I was treated despite having spent a couple hundred dollars tab on food and many drinks.

Yelp
My friends and I discovered this place on a whim in a rainy evening where we want to stay dry and catch some live music. The curtain opens to a really intimate, lovely jazz bar with a well stocked bar in the back. We only ended up getting cocktails (I got the Herbs and Tonic, which was very refreshing and not too strong), but the food menu looks great. On busy nights, it's a $20 minimum food and drink and you may need a reservation for a table, but otherwise there's bar seating / standing in the back (still a decent view for the most part) and a lounge / set of couches in the back corner. While you can't see the stage/musicians from the couches, it was a really comfortable place to hang out and listen to the jazz. Pro tip - be a drawer explorer :,) iykyk! A pretty cool spot for a casual hangout and great music!

Yelp
Great ambiance and nice music. Upgrade to a better speaker system can boast the live performance experience.

Yelp
I would suggest coming here before or after dinner. The food is good, but more so to snack on while enjoying the entertainment. I got their bok choy, seafood, dim sum, and plant-based crispy potstickers. The bok choy was messy to eat, and not something I would get again here, but I'm glad I tried it. It did have a great flavor. The seafood dumplings were okay. The plant-based crispy potstickers where my favorite! They were very filling and flavorful. I ended up getting two orders of them. Also, I got the mochi waffle the last time I came, and it was just okay as well. I appreciated the ice cream on the side that it came with. The food is really secondary to the incredible unique experience of live entertainment they offer here. I've been here twice and each band playing has blew me away. They know how to put on a show for sure. Both bands were of quality artists. I really felt honored to here these artists live even though I had never heard of neither prior to coming. Also, the ambience is so romantic in here. I see people come with their friends, but I would rather come with a partner. This is a great date night location. I'll definitely be coming back.

Yelp
Amazing space and great jazz vibe...always fun here! Excellent service and chill crowd..

Yelp
-Chic, sexy decor. -Fantastic music. -Delicious food. -Almost ridiculously affordable for the quality of all of the above _Attentive and adorable server (I'm a middle-aged woman and my server was a handsome young man and I maintain my prerogative to call him adorable) I absolutely love Mr. Tipples. It feels like walking into a movie and I am the star! But, I really want to talk about Jessica, the host. Last week, after she sat me at my table near the stage, I got a text from my friend who was meant to join me there saying he got the date wrong and wouldn't be coming. I'll spare you the long story, but I was mad. I thought, "Fine, I'm not going to let their lame-ass keep me from enjoying this fantastic band" and sat there for a few minutes, but I just couldn't do it. I Abruptly stood up, tossed some money in the tip jar, and stomped out. By the time I got home, there was a message from Jessica via OpenTable "We're so sorry you couldn't stay, would you like to exchange your tickets for another date?" I was flabbergasted. When has a venue ever done that? I thanked her, and made a reservation for the following week. My friend redeemed himself (his excuse was legit) and last night we returned. As soon as I walked up to the desk, Jessica greeted me with a smile and and a warm, "You're back!" I thanked her and we hugged and she sat me at a great table. (And yes, my friend showed up this time!) She showed us around and told us about the history of the place and made us feel like regulars. We will be!

Yelp
Such a cute little date night option! Reservations can be made online for entertainment seating ($15-$20) I went in as someone not really into jazz but really enjoyed it. They have a lot of food options but I wouldn't come here for dinner since the food isn't anything amazing. They do have CBD drinks though and they're delicious! I would say that it is hard to talk since sitting in the front the speakers are very loud. There's a 90 minute limit on front area seating - but then you can move to the bar in the back from which is barely away from the stage. Not sure if directly going to the bar area requires the cover. Would prefer that next time so it isn't as loud.

Yelp
Nice space with good acoustics, intimate tables, tasty food, fun drinks, and attentive service. Slightly pricy but worth the experience if you enjoy jazz. We caught the first set of the Michael O'Neil Quintet, and loved it. And we didn't expect much for food, but enjoyed everything we ordered: cucumber salad, duck and pork belly bao, vegan potstickers, and chocolate mousse. And the drinks were excellent. We reserved a table for 3 at 6pm on a Saturday in September, but could easily have walked in because it didn't start getting crowded until the second set at around 8pm. We sat up front, but all the tables and most of the bar space seemed to have good sight lines to the stage. The Civic Center garage is very close, and public transportation is around the corner.

Yelp
ALWAYS A GREAT TIME HERE. FAVE JAZZ BAR IN SF. Been here a handful of times and each experience delivers. The musicians are talented and interact with the crowd which one can appreciate. The drinks are strong and the food is good. It's an intimate space that adds to the experience. The bar area offers a good view with the option for conversation. Small tables upfront gets you close and personal with the performers which I love. Wish the staff would remind guests to keep idle conversation low and away from the stage area. We come to LISTEN to the musicians. Save the small talk for the breaks in between sets. Will be back soon.

Yelp
This has become my fave hidden gem of SF! I made a resy for 5 on a Wed night at 7:15pm with a $15 charge per person (note that there's a cancellation fee). The place is so cute! Such an intimate setting and would make for the perfect date night. The place is pretty big actually, and each seat is fine as you're able to see the stage from anywhere! There's also a bar at the back. The bathrooms were also so nice! It's all gender as well. The food and drinks are delicious! I was a bit skeptical about trying dim sum here, and it's honestly pretty good! The beef and pork baos were my fave, and they came in such large portions. There's a 90 min limit to the table, and we were actually able to stay longer! The jazz performers are absolutely amazing. I was swaying back and forth and enjoyed how so many performers were brought up to the stage. Such talented people, I would love to see them again. By around 8:30pm, it actually got pretty crowded for a Wed night, and it was a great vibe! Everyone was honestly just enjoying their night out. I would come back again for sure!

Yelp
This is a really cool jazz bar!! We were able to walk in on a friday night with no reservations and got lucky with a table in the front row! There was a $20 cover which is the same price as reserving in advance. It was a full house with great music and tasty cocktails. I was most impressed by the fact that they served dim sum here and it's decently priced. Its not the best dimsum in sf but its pretty good all things considered. Also, brownie points for having gender neutral bathrooms.

Charlotte Y.

Yelp
Cute club and great to hear live jazz in 2025, but I've heard that the cleanliness of a bathroom is a great way to assess the cleanliness of a restaurant's kitchen & thus the food. When I went to the women's bathroom, both times I was there, the soap at the sink, and I checked all of the soaps (they had 4), are not actual soap despite looking like it. They are watered down so much that even if you do as much as five or 10 pumps, which is crazy, as soon as you put your hands together, it dissolves, with no bubbles, no foam, no actual washing happening, and it has a very weird/ icky scent -- so literally there is not any soap in the bathroom and I think that that is probably a public health problem. Seemed like counter cleaner or tile cleaner or a weird hand sanitizer; something that is not soap and should not be there. Literally it's like pure water so there is nothing to actually wash your hands with even if you try to wash them over and over again. I told the cleaners and he dismissed me like 3x by saying, "We are a separate company." Ok, super helpful. Thanks for caring. No interest in this I guess. I decided not to eat any of my dinner because I just didn't feel OK consuming food in a restaurant that literally doesn't have any functioning soap in the bathroom and is willing to cut costs so much that they're not even willing to provide soap. And it was not just one soap dispenser -- they were all like this. So that really bothered me and grossed me out. If anyone thinks I'm overreacting, try the soap in the women's room and you'll see for yourself. No soap in a jazz club in a major city???? In 2025? Hope it's solved soon.

Yelp
Wonderful music and ambiance, with great service to boot. The pinot noir was pleasantly aromatic, and I'm not usually a fan of reds.

Yelp
We went there to enjoy jazz evening, it was good but I wouldn't say more. However, generally the atmosphere was nice and relaxed. Food was really delicious and servers were friendly. Can't say anything special about cocktails.

Yelp
This place was so cool and the overall area is nice and clean. The service was good and attentive. Personally, I felt that the prices for the menu items were okay, but they were still delicious. Also, the bathroom was so cool and spacious, which I appreciated.

Yelp
Great music. Food was average, looks like they ordered from outside and reheat in their kitchen. Was there mainly for the music, not the food.

Yelp
Another dream came true for me and my boyfriend! We've always wanted to go to this place. Finally, we made it! We chose this place to celebrate our 3rd Valentine's Date together. This place is magical, romantic, intimate and just a night to remember! We will definitely and absolutely come back to this place! Thank you for making our Valentine's Date special!

Yelp
The is something special about this place. An oasis on a quiet street. A desire to hear Jazz, a low key entrance with. Neon sign, what's not to love. The curtained entrance has you enter into a intimate lounge with cocktails and dim sum. The front door service to the bar service was attentive and polite. The drinks and meal a definite crowd pleasure!

Yelp
Perfect date night! My friend and I had originally wanted to go together but when she had to cancel at the last minute I dragged my partner with me since I had the tickets and we both had an amazing time. He swears he doesn't like Jazz but he totally does ) The live Jazz is such a great ambiance in this chill lounge like space. Drinks we had were phenomenal and the dim sum was so good. Reserve a ticket - there's not a bad seat in the house so no need to upgrade your seat/table ticket to see the stage. Your table is timed but you're welcome to stay at the bar after table service. This will definitely be a spot in our date night rotation.

Yelp
This is a nice Jazz club in SF, and it's on the cheaper side from what I gather. It's right next to Hayes Valley and is just off of Market, so it's in a popping location. You want to call ahead and make a reservation because the place is fairly popular, especially on a Friday or Saturday night. The setting is very intimate, and almost all the tables are two seaters, so I would keep that in mind if you're looking for a good date spot. They have a 90 minute limit on your table, after which they'll move you to the bar if you still want to stick around. The group playing when we went was fantastic! I'm not super into jazz, but still enjoyed their set. They also offer dim sum here, which I found to be a neat combo. There is a $20 minimum spending fee per each person in the party. The dim sum isn't the best, but it's solid and a decent serving for the price. Their cocktails were also good! One drink came in a cat mug, which was very amusing.

Yelp
What a great find this place is. Obviously, we came for the jazz and were not disappointed. A solid performance from the The Tomoko Funaki Hard Bop Collective while we enjoyed a very nice pinot and a great selection of beer and cider. The food was also surprisingly creative, with a lot going on in most of the dishes. Recommend the crispy potstickers and the Duck/Pork Bao. Could have done with a longer set and less regiment to allow the vibe to sync in more. Oh, yes, nice bathrooms. Parking can be had for $15 at a lot on Oak and Franklin a couple blocks away. Lots of seating options, and in the intimate setting, none were bad. The friendliness of the staff - hostess, bartender, and especially the waiter were greatly appreciated, while the waiter's attentiveness and care were second to none. We'll definitely be back with friends.

Yelp
I love this jazz bar! First time here and I will definitely be returning. There is a cover fee ranging from $12-$20, depending on where you choose to sit. The drinks were great and they also have a good selection of small bites to choose from. All the servers and bartenders were really attentive. The performers were so great and I loved the energy of the space. Such a great time, highly recommend!

Yelp
My niece wanted to go to Mr. Tipple's to watch a specific jazz group she heard about. We booked our reservation via open table and they charge you for the ticket when you book. We found street parking and arrived 15 minutes prior to our reservation. Luckily, they were able to seat us right away since it wasn't packed. The place is not too big so any seat would be a great one. We were hungry and decided to order from the restaurant, which serves dim sum. I didn't have high hopes, but the food was was good. My niece ordered a lemon drop and said it was delicious. I'm taking 1 star off for the service. The hostess was great but the servers were a little rude when I tried asking some basic questions about food and drink. It was as if they couldn't be bothered. Probably because they automatically add the 20% gratuity so they don't necessarily care. Other than that, the place is nice and I would come back.

Yelp
The music and vibe was perfect; I wish I could say the same about the food and drinks. This almost got a perfect score, except for the dim sum. We got a plethora of different foods, which were all delicious. The only one that lacked in quality were the soup dumplings. It came in a slotted wooden container from a steamer. The dumplings were on some kind of wax paper when they brought it out. My guess was that they left these dumpling to sit for too long after they steamed, because all the dumpling were just stuck onto the wax paper. Almost each one ripped when we tried pulling it off the paper, and since it's in a slotted wooden container, all the soup spilled through it and onto the table and on some of our clothes. It was so dimly lit that we didn't even realize how much mess it was making. The lychee ice cream was also a bit sour due to the citrus they added. Not sure why; these are usually sweet. The vodka cocktail I got was really strong; too strong for my taste. I get vodka cocktails a lot and they really went overboard on the vodka ratio. The Jazz musicians were amazing though! And the vibe was chill and classy. Overall I'd come back, but just for wine and Jazz next time.

Yelp
A super fun jazz bar that serves dim sum and cocktails at the intersection of Hayes Valley and Civic Center! We made reservations to come here on a Saturday evening. The music was great, and the vibes were so fun. The music was loud enough that you could have some conversation while still listening to and not disrupting the performance. For drinks, we tried the Tom's Tipple, Mister Loveless, and Herbs in Tonic. They were all pretty tasty! For food, we had the pork and shrimp siu mai and the plant-based crispy potstickers. When we arrived at our reservation time, we were told that it was a busy night so we would likely be asked to move after the allotted 1.5 hour. However, we were pleasantly surprised when we got to stay at our table into the next performance. Our server was also friendly and attentive. The only reason I don't give five stars is because of the food. I love the concept of dim sum at jazz bar, but the dim sum was average in taste despite being expensive and in small portions.

Yelp
Awesome little lounge with some great jazz acts. Dropped in before dinner for a few drinks one day not realizing there was some live music. Stayed as long as possible then came back after dinner. Staff was very hospitable and allowed us to return after dinner without another cover charge. Cocktails are great! Had a few appetizers and pleasantly surprised with how good they were. Great ambience. Can't wait to catch a few more bands

Yelp
Loved this spot! The vibes, the music, the drinks -- so good! You have to pay a fee to sit inside, which isn't too expensive ~$15-20. Drinks were tasty and there's a couple cool options. I saw there was a larger room in the back, I feel like that'd be great for larger parties.
