Mr. Wanderlust - Review - Downtown LA - Los Angeles - The Infatuation

"Mr. Wanderlust is a cocktail bar inside Level 8, a multi-concept nightlife macrocosm on the eighth floor of the Moxy Downtown. To get there, you've gotta walk down a hallway with psychedelic light projections before being whisked up to the eighth floor on a private elevator. It’s a lot, but pales in comparison to what’s waiting for you inside. Burlesque dancers spin in midair, a man croons on a spinning piano, and a magician walks around to each table performing sleight-of-hand tricks. The whole thing feels fun in a disorienting way. Show up if you’re in the mood for chaos." - Brant Cox

This is an elegant place to take a date. The atmosphere was romantic. The live music was absolutely amazing. The soulful Sunday set with the small surprise female performer at the end was unexpected. The drinks are delicious as well. Thank you to the staff for making my time there as a solo very comfortable

Unique and worth the visit!. Mr. Wanderlust isn’t just a bar—it’s a journey, and one we’ll gladly take again. We came as a small group of three on a Friday night and walked into what felt like the private den of a charming, world-traveling eccentric. From the eclectic mementos to the live piano and jazz beats floating through the room, every detail felt curated with intention and just the right amount of theatrical flair. The cocktails? Absolutely top-tier. Melina Meza’s creations aren’t just drinks—they're experiences in a glass. Bold flavors, beautifully presented, and with a sense of storytelling that fits the theme perfectly. The staff kept the energy high and the service smooth without ever being intrusive. There was a buzz in the air the entire night—live music, a hint of mischief, and a few surprises that I won’t spoil here. Let’s just say this place earns its reputation as a late-night destination. Whether you're a local or just passing through LA, Mr. Wanderlust is worth the detour. We’ll definitely be back for another round (or two).

I had been wondering the show here for long time!!!! I imagined what the dancer under the chandelier would be like. Since I am here, today I also visit this place at AC hotel. Btw, the hotel has 2 different entrances. Don’t get confused. The left-side door goes to its lobby only. All other facilities you have to enter into the right side of the hotel to go to the levels you want. Then there are several restaurants, and bars on the level 8, and Level 8 opens at 6:00pm. Do not come too early. Show was every hour. The piano show happened behind the bar, it was terrific. The dancer under chandelier is every 20 mins, she is on, and off at the entrance.

Inside Level 8 this is a nice spot to vibe and listen to live jazz music. The Gumbo Brothers were so entertaining and I had a blast. The drinks were just right at the bar and the bartenders were very quick even with the large crowd of people. We didn't have table reservations so it was standing room only, but still a vibe. A great spot for a cute date night!!!

Great place. The moving wall exposes the piano man and the wall with the band. The drinks were amazing. We showed up around 9:30 pm and were able to reserve a whole section for the birthday girl for a very decent price. The kitchen does close at 9 pm, which is a bummer since we were all hungry for snacks. The entertainment was amazing. The crew is great and very helpful. I cant wait to come back and bring other friends.

A speakeasy type bar done right in DTLA. This place feels like Hollywood & Vegas had a love child with a more chiller feel. I’ll definitely back for the grand opening. It’s a good amount of space for the downtown LA crowd. A darker atmosphere with lounge type music for a more relaxing but vibrant outing. ***upsate*** I ordered their chicharron, jumbo shrimp cocktail, chicken karaage, & le petit Mac. The chicharron was a great appetizer & with their ranch dipping sauce it was solid. The jumbo shrimp gave you three large jumbo shrimps. They were delicious and refreshingly good. The chicken karaage was probably my favorite dish because of the tender chicken pieces and it was seasoned perfectly. The dipping sauces was a plus and finally the le petit mac aka mini Big Mac was delicious. A mini slider with big burger flavor and taste and the side of super super skinny fries were good(not really fries just really thin and crispy garnish). Customer service was excellent, Luis at the bar took care of us and it was a solid dining experience at the bar. I’d definitely come back again to try their other menu items.

The valet experience was amazing - 5 stars. The atmosphere is very impressive with beautiful designs from the front door to the elevator—this is a place to impress an out-of-towner. Some places are what I would call “So LA” where they look great on instagram, but the restaurant experience (service, food, drinks) is lacking. Mr. Wanderlust definitely wows you with its dark, vibrant atmosphere, burlesque dancer, and creative speakeasy vibe. Service was slow, and there were only about seven food items on the menu. A steak (not filet mignon) was $100. Every main dish was $100 or more (so LA). If you’re looking for a place to make your friends jealous, this is the spot! If you’re hungry, be prepared to spend a pretty penny. I had a really cool drink that was like a smoked tequila old-fashioned. Very creative and yummy! Unfortunately, they only smoked it the first time I ordered it and when my partner ordered one, they didn’t smoke it, or any thereafter…Keeping the theme of this place being a tease! I don’t think they have the kinks worked out yet for the larger Level 8 concept because check-in was very chaotic, there isn’t standing room, and even when you have a reservation—you may end up waiting 45 minutes to an hour. 3 stars but the potential to be 5 star.

This place has so much potential. The speakeasy design and concept of going through a secret door make the place seem like it’s going to be a cool experience but it’s quite the opposite. Yes, the bar area does look cool and almost gives off Hogwarts vibes, but the service was terrible!! It was a bit of a hot mess. Totally brought down the excitement for my birthday once we were seated. One menu for five people. 15 minutes before someone came back to introduce herself as our waitress. 45 minutes to wait for five drinks, two of which were done wrong and the server who brought the drinks wasn’t even our waitress and didn’t know herself what the drinks she had brought were. She had my friend taste two different cocktails to see if it was the whisky sour she ordered. Neither even looked like a whisky sour. She brought the erroneous drinks back and it took another 15 minutes before the correct cocktails came out. The cocktails tasted fine but was it worth the wait? No. They need a couple more bartenders and more waitstaff to cover the tables more frequently. We felt ignored most of the evening except by this magician who came by to show card tricks that were actually entertaining. Did not hear a piano playing the whole time we were there. They played techno/edm? I should’ve taken it as a sign that this new place has not worked out it’s kinks when I tried to call a handful of times to change my reservation time and was stuck in an automated loop where any button you pressed led to the same unhelpful recording. I’d probably tell anyone interested to wait 6 months with the hope that they’ve figured their operations out by then.

Yelp
Mr. Wanderlust, let me tell you about our experience! From the moment we arrived, we were greeted by stunning decor and an enchanting atmosphere. The mix of dark yet vibrant lighting created the perfect backdrop for an unforgettable evening. We were treated to live performances by incredibly talented artists, and the DJ set really took the energy to the next level. This venue truly knows how to deliver exceptional musical entertainment! To top it all off, we enjoyed some delightful cocktails - the Paloma and Espresso Martini, which were absolutely delicious! :-) We're already looking forward to our next visit back!

Yelp
I've been here twice & both times I was just in awe. The performance behind the bar is incredible. The pianist is really good! And the other burlesque performers are amazing. A performance comes on every 30 mins. I wish the menu included more apps. They have a seasonal menu but $200 for ny steak & fries? I'm not broke just reasonable lol I think if they had more app options people would stay and drink longer. But maybe that's not the vibe they're going for. Definitely a place to stop by & also bring any out of town friends. This would be a good one stop shop since there's golden hour on the same floor!

Yelp
I strongly advise AGAINST booking here. My experience was chaotic from the start and I, being the optimist, still hoped for the best, but in the end my reservations and efforts proved to be futile as this venue and manager (I believe her name is Clara) booked a private event on the night of my reservation and essentially rendered myself and my guests without a place to celebrate my 40th birthday nor an apology or any type of accountability for their mistake. Thankfully Toni from Que Barbara was extremely helpful, I'll write a separate review there. But let's start from the top. On their website you're advised to submit a request for events, I submitted one. Days passed without response or reply or confirmation. I called, several times. Essentially you get through to a "concierge" but this is just a fancy name for a message taker. She advised me to send an email. I did. Again days passed with no reply. Finally I went to the venue to speak with someone directly. I asked to speak to a manager. No manager ever came. The host asks me if I booked through open table. I had not, there's no open table reference on their site, I followed instructions on their website. I pull up open table as she informs me that a group of ten would warrant bottle service 2 bottles to be exact. A group of five would warrant one bottle. Bottle service was about $450/500 on the low end. Meanwhile I'm on open table and see that I can reserve a table for four without bottle service requirements. Fine. That's what I will do. I made reservations for myself and three others and would tell anyone else that wanted to join me that they could meet me there and do the same. Settled. Fast forward, three days before the event I received an email from open table saying wanderlust canceled my reservation. This was followed by an email from wanderlust stating they were changing their reservation process but "Any existing reservations you may have will still be honored for entry. However, please note that tables and bar seating will now be available on a first come, first serve basis." What ensued after this was a back and forth exchange of emails with changing policies and overwhelming inconsistencies. I'll post screenshots of those emails. The final message essentially saying we're sorry for confusion we will comp you some drinks and bar and high tables will be first come first serve. Fine. I planned to arrive rather early, it will all work out. Instead, upon arrival I was told the entire venue was rented out for a private party. And the manager, Clara I believe, told me my reservation was canceled. I showed her the email thread confirming my reservation and she essentially shrugged and said the venue was closed to us. I was standing there in my full 20s themed garb ready to celebrate my 40th birthday with friends and the manager essentially shrugged me off and had no remorse or empathy whatsoever. I was completely distraught and felt so invisible and dismissed. I've never experienced such lack of professionalism and human decency at an establishment before. I asked multiple times to speak to her boss, I was instead ushered toward a manager of another venue in this conglomerate. First the gentleman who manages golden hour (which was closed due to rain) and then to Toni who was the only person who truly expressed empathy and accountability and tried to make it right by having us at her venue Que Barbara, as mentioned I'll be writing a separate review there. There needs to be some extreme changes at this place in regards to reservation processes and professionalism. A brief assessment of other reviews show similar issues and my presumption is that until they make some serious changes, more reviews like this will persist.

Yelp
Ok...so, first thing to understand about this spot is that it is a bar/lounge. It's an upscale lounge that caters to hipsters (not saying this is a bad thing...it just does). Mr. Wanderlust is a location within a consortium of restaurants in DTLA's Level 8 complex. The complex is dripping with vibes, and not much else. The bar requires entry through a hidden bookshelf wall...cool. Bar is ornate, with a standard bar in the middle, flanked by very close tables/booths. The menu is a selection of small bite, re-imagined bar foods that will set you back a pretty penny. There's a slider (a single slider) named Le Petit Mac which is roughly the size of a whitecastle burger, boasting "2 all beef patties, special sauce, lettuce, cheese". (Sigh) served with a small bowl of string format potato chips. $25. Ordered a Truffle Cavatappi that was roughly 20 pieces of pasta (sauce was good though!)...though not $42 good. Note: if you are reserving a small table, (for 2) you'll be required to clear $160 on your bill... For those of you who follow me, you know that if there's an Old Fashioned to be had, I'm drinking it! Mr. Wanderlust's O.F. is decent, though far from the best I've had. Service is meh. Every interaction with service was a "flag down". Flag down for silverware, more water, to order another drink... If you're looking for a bar, but "something different", would recommend (though, understand that the price tag is above that of a typical bar). Come for vibes and drinks, get food elsewhere. 3/5 Stars- will not return

Yelp
First let me say I'm writing this review based on Level8 Friendsgiving festival event so I didn't make reservation or buy drinks or food here. Super cool and hip Bar. Great entertainment of DJ, live band, piano player, and burlesque dancers. The owners totally understand people's short attention span these days and love of surprises. Totally recommend.

Yelp
Went there Saturday night. Got a few drinks. The atmosphere is cool. There was a lady doing acrobatics from the ceiling on our way in. And the entrance is kind of disguised in the wall. And the bar swings around to reveal a piano so that was cool. Drinks were ok. But the bartenders were nice.

Yelp
This is one of the bars located on Level 8 at the Moxy DTLA and I'm giving it 5 stars because it's one of the most unique bars that I've been to! It's a speakeasy vibe, so you are immediately brought in through a bookshelf to the bar. I would definitely suggest getting there early if you can because it can be difficult to get a spot anywhere. We were finally able to get a few seats at the bar, but it still took awhile to get any service. We got the Break In Oaxaca ($20) and Passionate Affair ($22), which were both delicious cocktails. When we immediately walked in, there was a piano player at an actual piano at the bar. He was in a hidden compartment that was behind the bar, which was so cool! We tried waiting a bit longer to see if he would come back, but then ANOTHER performance with burlesque dancers started instead. Super entertaining bar and worth checking out if you're in the area :)

Yelp
After having dinner, my friends and wandered over to this speakeasy. I HIGHLY recommend coming here early around 7ish. By the time it was 9p, it was PACK. This bar is amazing! The bartenders really know what they're doing and they're really quick. Their drinks are delicious. Also throughout the night, the wall against the bar opens up to a pianist. That was such an awesome surprise. We ordered a few cocktails. Madames Pride: This is like an espresso martini. It was really delicious! Break in Oaxaca: mezcal drink topped with an egg white to add a smooth finish Moulin Rouge: This one was a tequila based drink which was DELICIOUS! Smoke and Mirrors: They will smoke this right in front of you!

Yelp
Speakeasy with great drinks and entertainment? Perfect combination. [ Getting here ] Entrance to level 8 is on W. Pico Blvd next to the entrance to the Moxy Hotel. There you'll find a line for reservations and then a line for general admissions/walk-ins. Note that this is the same line for all the other new restaurants and bars so I would recommend going early if you don't have a reservation. Once you're past the security guards, you'll need to go through the elevator to 8th floor, hence why it's called level 8. [ Reservations ] I came here on a Saturday around 7:30pm for a party of 4 and was able to get seated right away. All the reservations were booked or not available when I checked on OpenTable, but when they checked us in, I got a message from OpenTable saying that a reservation of 4 was booked at 7:30pm. Either way, I recommend coming here early as it is a smaller bar compared to Golden Hour. Something to note though, they did leave the speakeasy door open which was a bummer. Not sure if I went too early? I tried asking them to close the "secret" door so I can experience it myself, but they refused :( [ Bar ] The drinks were surprisingly good and all of us agreed! I got the Furusato ($20 before tip) and really enjoyed the concoction of gin, yuzu, and Japanese ginger with a piece of toasted rice on top. Don't worry if you're not a fan of ginger, it wasn't pungent at all. While we were having drinks, Mike the magician stopped by our table and all I can say is that I was mind-blown. His sleight of hand is top notch! Not sure how long he's going to be there, but he honestly made the speakeasy experience SO much better. He's also a magician at the Magic Castle, so highly recommend coming to see his tricks.

Yelp
The food selection is minimal, but the employees are outstanding. The atmosphere can get uncomfortably warm. It has a speakeasy vibe, with a mix of live piano performances early on, transitioning to all DJ music as the night progresses.

Yelp
Came in her to check out the new Level 8 venues on a Sunday. Ambiance in Mr Wanderlust is pretty cool. You enter through a bookcase, very speakeasy vibe. Kinda dark inside but again a lounge vibe. The menus say small bites and believe me they are small. They say they are shareable but don't come hungry. Pretty pricey too. About $20 for the apps but they are so small. Don't let the sliders photo fool you, it's the size of hockey puck and you only get one. Drinks were tasty but honestly I couldn't get any alcohol feel from it. Pretty weak for a $30 drink. A highlight was some entertainment appeared later in the evening. A magician walked stand did close up card tricks. Pretty good too. After, the wall over the bar rotated around and revealed a piano and pianist. He was wonderful and had a great voice. Next time I would come here for a drink before trying the two restaurants attached to the bar, but wouldn't plan my night to be here for very long. Just too pricey for the amount food and drinks.
google avatar

Tracy L.

Yelp
I took my son here to celebrate his birthday and the drinks were nice and the French Fries were tastier, but the ambiance was amazing. I will definitely be back.
google avatar

Stephanie S.

Yelp
I don't want to give too much away at this location but my goodness!! The Houston brothers are at it again. You'll have to do a special deed to enter! The bar is quite small and they have a few small bites if you're hungry. They are learning their bearings for service so bare with them but what a gorgeous location. The bar isn't full yet but I grabbed one of their mezcal drinks and some focaccia. Overall wonderful experience.
google avatar

Jesse C.

Yelp
Can't even rate this as they canceled my reservation. They told me they are fading out reservations and that they can still honor my reservation but it will be first come first serve for seating. The whole point in making my reservation was to get a nice spot for my Wife's birthday and have a good night out w her and our friends. They should have still honored our reservation and had a table for us. Not a business I want to support and will never come visit now.
google avatar

Kisha L.

Yelp
This piano bar was cute and mysterious with cute secret doors and an underground club feel, however, the place was overrated. They do not have many bar food items to choose from and the food is overpriced. This place is mainly for drinking alcohol and live entertainment. It's not a place to go for dinner. They need to add more basic food items and have more seating. The tables located on the right side of the place were very small and you could not see the piano player behind the bar. A big pillar is blocking parts of the bar view. I went for my bday for some drinks but I did not have a great time due to what I wanted on the menu was no longer being served and the blockage view of the piano player. They only took credit cards and no cash. The service was just ok. This place is more for drinking and bottle service.

Yelp
We were able to make same day reservation for 2 at 6:30pm on a Friday night. It's next to LA Live so we didn't want to deal with parking and paid in the lot next door ($35 ). Got there at 7 but they still let us in. Good thing we made a reservation because all seats besides the bar were resy only. I can imagine it getting really full later in the night. Really cool spot though. It's a part of the Level 8 in the Moxy building. Main entrance of mr wanderlust, there's an acrobatic performer and inside the bar there's a piano performance. Try to avoid being seated behind the column when you first walk in because the piano is behind the bar. We loved the speakeasy feel. We ordered a couple drinks. I'm not drinking at the moment so it was nice they made me a non-alcoholic Spanish fly. My bf got smoke and mirrors which wasn't his favorite but the break in oaxacan was good. Great place to go for a first time since there's so much to explore on Level 8. It is in DTLA though so snack prices were a bit insane. Not a place I'd go super frequently but cool experience

Yelp
This new spot is most exciting: we have been a total of 3 different times already and each time so very different: from calm library cocktails to an incredible pounding DJ set in the back room to a wonderfully elegant lira performance suspended above the main host stand! This staff is kind the drinks are well done and strong : the Houston Brothers have outdone themselves and being a local neighbor to both black rabbit rose sand no vacancy right by me it was nice to see this nightlife compound in person at Level 8 and be able to support and enjoy : thank you for giving this city nightlife culture and thank you to the Mr Wanderlust staff for being kind during the busiest times and welcoming when it was calmer! It means a lot!

Yelp
Cute vibe, great service, portion sizes were surprising. I anticipated baby portions but all portion sizes was well worth the price. Staff were great, chef was funny and interacted with our group. Bartender did their thing with the drinks. Overall very happy I spent my 33rd birthday here.

Yelp
It was so bad... I was hoping it would be a really nice vibe like Tommy jazz in nyc and this place is a wish.com version of a nice jazz bar I was envisioning. Zero sophistication here.. I guess that's just L.A. Interior decor is cute but that's about it. Touristy crowd.

Yelp
Upon arriving to Level 8, my group and I wanted to find some good drinks with a nice relaxing touch. This for-sure was the spot The music was amazing and the vibe was even better, definitely going back when I'm in Downtown. So accessible being right across from crypto. Overall, it was a great experience.

Yelp
Special shout out to Greg, Harley, Faith, Margot, Daphne, and so many people I've met at Mr. Wanderlust who are so fun and accommodating! My co-workers and I went to Mr. Wanderlust last Thursday for many celebrations, and we all had a blast! There was live jazz on Thursday night, and all right, it was a vibe, and we were ALL vibing. Harley was very helpful in being there for us and taking care of our tables, and not to mention, she is drop-dead gorgeous! Adore you all at Mr. Wanderlust!!! I will 100% be coming back for more live music, decadent/smooth cocktails, and an incredible atmosphere. Thank you kindly!

Yelp
I have come to Level 8 on numerous occasions since they first opened a few months ago, I have always brought a handful of people with me, the bills get split, so multiply the below by 4 and we have spent over $12,000 here since we began coming in Oct-Feb , and this is excluding the bottle service and spend at sinners and santos. I brought some friends to Mr Wanderlust at 5pm and the place was completely empty , we grab seats in our usual spot, every table was empty. A hostess comes to me and says you need to order at least $70 before you can have a seat. Granted two drinks here are $45, so we would easily hit that minimum quickly, but she said the new manager has strict rules and you should ask her if she can make an exception. I politely ask her and say we can hit that minimum we will have our dinner at Que Barbaro and come Back and , and it will still Be empty. She rolled her eyes at me and walked away. It was unbelievable and embarrassing , there is a massive difference in manager style between who you speak to. JR running the front door of level 8 is an elite door guy and the most professional door guy I've come across in 12 years in LA. Even if he can't make something happen for you , he will treat you like a human being and be communicative, this is extremely rare for LA. I have sent dozens of friends here simply because of his service. However, it seems like the new management at Mr wanderlust does not want you to have a seat at 5pm In an empty lounge before you go to dinner. They really want that $70 minimum , even if we spent thousands at Maison Kasai in the same visit. Most of the venues and staff are great. I would not keep your hopes up for Mr Wunderlust since they hired their new manager who thinks she's doing something. Her own employees told me her tactics made no sense and found her to be on a power trip. If your own employees don't like their boss, and they treat local repeat customers like second class patrons, it's time to make a change.

Yelp
It's cool because it's a speak easy and I hate to be like this but.... We thought it was karaoke night and it was actually the hired musician. Haha oh my... did they not hold auditions for this place. We had to leave before ordering a drink because you gotta be wasted to enjoy that ruckus. They could have made it a little more classy. It was like a mosh pit of people from the mid west here for work. Essentially my perfect hell. Ugh.

Yelp
We came on a Sunday and it was poppin. Love the decor, ambiance, drinks and the band that was playing was phenomenal. Would definitely recommend this place if you're looking for a place to enjoy drinks and music! Such a neat speakeasy concept.

Wow, wow, wow! You hear about it, don't believe it, till you see it! This is the place to be. Every nook has some amazing experience. The bartenders are at the top of their game here! The cocktails, worth every sip of sheer bliss. We had a wonderful server named Chloe, guiding us along the way through a unique aperitif experience. The Madame Pride with its cold brew and mascarpone, is my favorite to sink into the booth with its dim extravagance and Deco decore. Then the Passionate Affair, with its passion fruit with the Champagne in between to cleanse your palate. The manager Ryan, will walk over and greet you with his kindness and warm demeanor. I will be back with friends and the hubby again! Dim, sexy and quite an experience to return to...this is the escape you have all been looking for.

Yelp
They do not serve food only liquor so if you're getting a table (which they don't tell you but is not mandatory) you have to spend $100-$150 per person depending on the day. That's a lot of drinks. Fortunately they let us order food next door and it counted towards our bill. The decor is amazing and it's a cool vibe but for $22 a drink I don't expect drinks that are way too strong. The music was great they just took waaaaay too many breaks after every 3 songs. Next time I'd just go to the bar and get 1-2 drinks.

Yelp
I dined at Que Barbaro prior and only planned to have a quick nightcap. Three hours later, I didn't want to leave! The ambiance and music here are second to none- incredible lighting, energy, and service as well. From the DJ who kept us on our toes with an ever evolving mix of different genres, to the surprise pianist literally spinning out of the wall behind the bar, to the band that made two memorable appearances for multi song sets, the entertainment was mesmerizing. I definitely recommend early dinner reservations at any of their restaurants followed by a reservation here to make sure you can get a great seat to fully enjoy everything that Mr. Wanderlust can offer- an unforgettable night!

Yelp
I wanted to love this place. The concept is super cool, but there are other places in LA that have a speakeasy vibe with much better service, prices, and quality. Made a reservation, but that apparently doesn't mean you will get a table. They should change their verbiage when booking, since you can literally select "front row seats to the experience" on Open Table, but that means nothing. They just tell you to find an open seat anywhere in the bar. We were there for 2 hours and there were no burlesque dancers or acrobatic performances. Wish there was more entertainment. Eat before you come here or maybe try one of their other restaurants because the food was extremely overpriced and not great. The fries were hardly edible they were so salty. And they were $15. Nothing special just over salted crinkle cut fries. The "pizza" is actually basically a slice of focaccia bread and is almost $40. Also, they automatically include gratuity at this establishment (regardless of party size or bill total) but they don't tell you. Which is really off putting. We went to their other place Sinners y Santos which also automatically includes gratuity on drinks. Only 1 bartender out of the 3 i was served by told me about it being automatically included. Feels like a scam honestly. Save your money and try another place.

Yelp
Such a cool vibe. Bartenders Alicia and Eric were super conversational and very friendly. The have a bunch of unique signature cocktails. Between the DJ and live performances it was so much fun the DJ Hollis had us dancing all night with throwback vibes and good energy. Def coming back again

Yelp
This place was a bit confusing. You make a reservation, get escorted to the bar area and they tell you to find any open space and sit wherever you want( although it should be wherever you find a space). We were there for maybe 30 min and not once did we get a menu (we had to ask), and no one ever came to you to take your drink order. I'm not sure how the whole concept its meant to work but it did not pass the vibe check for us. We ended up leaving. All this is our personal opinion perhaps to someone else is their vibe. I highly doubt we would go back.

Yelp
The bar staff was very nice, interior is to die for, food and drinks are a little pricey but worth it, however there was an unfortunate part of the experience. We got there right when they opened at 6PM and it was completely empty. We sat down at one of the tables and the barman took our order. Shortly after the hostess comes by and says tables are for reservations only and there is a minimum of $75 per person. I agreed and said we have already ordered approximately that amount worth of items and told her to put my name down. She said the items ordered won't be included. Like come on lol it's completely empty and we agreed to the minimum why make it so much harder.

Yelp
Mr. Wonderlust is the perfect place to go with your partner for a cooler than usual date night! The decor and acrobat suspended above the check-in desk immediately transports you to a different place, giving 1920s flappers club and Jumanji, all at once! Depending on the night you might be treated to live jazz or a burlesque show. Definitely not your average speakeasy! The menu features delicious and refreshing drinks with ingredients from around the world but be forewarned, nothing with vodka! Food wise there are some small bites, I highly recommend the chicken Karaage!

Yelp
All I can say is WOW, this place does not disappoint. I came with some friends on Friday around 8pm which ended up being perfect timing because this place gets busy, which makes sense considering the aerialist at host stand, speakeasy entrance, and once in the bar there is multiple amazing performances like the bar does this trick where it turns 180 degrees and a piano player performs. The cocktails were next level pretty and delicious. I was hesitant to try their 'pickle martini' and so glad I did. It was cold and boozy like a martini but with a really pleasant balance of dill pickle flavor- not like the kind from a jar. Next I tried the 'garden g and t' and it was easily the best gin and tonic I ever had. Even if you dont like tonic, you need to try this. My friend had 'ube paloma' which was made with PURPLE YAM, so weird and cool right?! It was so dark we didn't realize it was a purple cocktail until she took a picture. This one is an absolute homerun. Another friend got the 'peach sour' which had a mix of bourbon, chamomile and I think cognac. She loved it so much she refused to drink anything else and had at least 2 or 3. The garnish was like a tart candied peach and omg I would buy a bag of those peaches just to snack on. We wanted to checkout the other bars level 8 has to offer but honestly the cocktails were too good to leave. We will 100% be back soon for that pickle martini and to try the other cocktails on the menu! Truly unique experience from beginning to end. Highly recommend!

Yelp
We arrived with a reservation, but after being seated, we waited at least 30 minutes before anyone come to take our order or check on us. Apparently the opening server was late to arrive to work. No apology and no attempt to rectify the situation by our server once she did arrive. The server even had the audacity to ask for an additional tip on top of an 18% service charge. The only reason this isn't a one star rating is because of the hostesses who were great and very apologetic. They encouraged us to talk to the manager who did provide some free drink vouchers to entice us back, which was very kind.

Yelp
Took my bestie here for her 40th. We had a great time. The piano player was great , burlesque dancers , the drinks and the truffle popcorn were all amazing. The highlight of the night was the live band that I thought was jazz and then they started playing 90s hip hop with a live orchestra

Darby J.

Yelp
The entertainment was stellar! Drag show the first night, live band and burlesque the next. 10/10 recommend!!

Yelp
When initially making a reservation for 9:00 pm for the BURLESQUE show, the show did not start at 9:00, but rather 10:50pm. And then the "show" lasted the length of one song which was like 4 min. So after waiting almost two hours, we only saw the show for 4 minutes. Which is completely ridiculous, especially since we have to spend a minimum of $400. So $400 for a 4 minute experience is not worth it at all. We were also seated 20 minutes late because some other party was sitting at our table. And then we were told our seats had the "best view". We could not see the stage AT ALL! Another waitress told us we had to get up to watch the show. So why would we reserve a table to watch the show if we had to stand up anyway? Make it make sense! And it was in fact NOT a burlesque show but rather a peep show. So again false advertising. Overall disappointing experience and a COMPLETE waste of money. The drinks were also disgusting. Do not recommend this place at all.

Yelp
The whole experience from start to finish was impeccable! Our table was perfectly situated to see both stages and our reservation was personally confirmed and accommodated by the GM Robert. We cannot say enough great things about our experience! 10 outta 10 night of great memories, thank you Mr. Wanderlust!
