The 38 Best Restaurants in Rome, Italy | Eater

"Via Prenestina has been a hub for Ethiopian and Eritrean community and cuisine in Rome for decades, and Mrgda, situated on this wide avenue at the edge of Pigneto, is a standout example. Partake of the free-flowing tej, a heady, honey-fermented wine that pairs perfectly with dishes like richly spiced legumes, aromatic vegetables, tender braised chicken, and deeply seasoned raw beef. Each bite is scooped up with Mrgda’s ethereal, naturally leavened injera, which has a balanced tang. Know before you go: There is a vegan restaurant from the same owners, Mrgda Vegano, just a few blocks away." - Katie Parla

Food glorious food. This restaurant is an absolute treat. Ethiopian food is DELICIOUS. The owner here has created a delightful food experience. If you have not tried Ethiopian, you really should. It is a feast and a delightful moment of sharing. The food quality was very high and the service friendly. The young owner from Ethiopia is making sure he delivers quality food at possibly the best price of anywhere local. You also get to try Ethiopian beer and wine . The coffee is similar to A " Turkish" coffee, it tastes absolutely perfect and has enough power to keep you awake for several weeks, but it tastes good and is delivered to the table with Incense and ceremony. I loved it so much and I want to see this amazing young man succeed. Do come and eat, spread your culinary wings and embrace.

If you are looking for a restaurant in Rome that is not Italian and want to try a different cuisine, this is the right place. First of all, I would like to praise the very nice and friendly service. The waiter kindly explained the dishes to us and also showed us how to eat with our hands. The food is very tasty, and the portions are large. We had an excellent meal. My girlfriend and I visited the restaurant twice in one week, and as a courtesy, we received two delicious fruit drinks. I also appreciate the low prices – a lot of food for little money. The restaurant environment is calm and clean. You can smell the incense in the air, which the staff burns in the kitchen. The music was playing quietly. There is a TV on the wall, which I find unnecessary, but it is not disturbing. I admire that the guys cook and serve at the same time. :) If I visit Rome again, I will definitely return to this restaurant. Greetings from Prague and thank you for a pleasant gastronomic experience! :)

Really flavourful food- really well presented ! Don’t miss the Shiro, Gomen and Misir Wat! Also try the Sambusa - made with so much care! Also try the Ethiopian coffee with palate cleansing popcorn! It is a sensory experience if you like your coffee! The person is running the service and cooking single-handedly made us feel at home! Loved it!!!
