We had stunning weather for our trip past past Mt Erebus to Scott's Hut. We could clearly see the plume of steam coming from the crater. We were also fortunate that one of our Expedition crew had worked at Scott Base and he presented photos and videos of climbing into the ice caves and down into the crater to the lava lake (when it was still allowed years ago). The ice fumaroles are amazing and with binoculars one was visible from the ship for a short while.

Erebus, Antarctica's best known and world's southernmost active volcano, overlooks the McMurdo research station on Ross Island. It has a lava lake in the summit crater that has been active since at least 1972. Because of the remote location, activity is primarily monitored by satellites. *Recently 80 grams gold alongwith lava erupting daily.

👉Dear friends, I just came back from Antarctica and these is my favorite images. Photos just don't justify the scenes in Antarctica yet here's me still trying to convey what I saw. Bringing my zoom lens was the best decision I made, I hope to show the incredible details of the snowy mountains. I hope you like it

In 1979 over 200 died here where New Zealand site seeing tour aboard a jet crashes Into this Mt...none survived and the wreckage and possibly a few bones and personal affects remain frozen in place like so many other plane crashes into Volcanos
