After riding on the Holiday Express, our Grandson who is obsessed with trains, we discovered, without any prior notice, that the group celebrating our grandchild's 2nd birthday was to reconvene at Mt. Hood Brewery. GPS was able to guide us there on that cold, dreary, late Sunday afternoon. We had never heard of the place, which we pretty much had to ourselves at that point. Our group - mostly parents and kids - chose to hang out in the red caboose. It was easy to order off the menu at the counter.
The toddlers got busy entertaining themselves to crayons (if they wanted to), train toys, and the clean floor - didn't mind them being there, you could lick the floor, it's CLEAN! (At the end, my son provided 3 toddlers to a 5 1/2" x 2 1/2" screen to watch more train videos on the floor!) See photo.
The food was delivered to our train car and table. DH prefers wine to beer. The wine list is small, but DH said that the Oregon Pinot Noir he ordered was awesome. They have a nice choice of salads - we had the Romaine with Caesar dressing. The pizzas on the menu all looked good to me. We chose two and they were both delicious. DH devoured his pepperoni and I took home half of my Margherita. The pizza size was perfect for one person. The eating area was clean and well-stocked with plates, silverware, and napkins. Except, when one of the toddlers accidentally knocked a small container of olive oil on the table, to the floor and splashed on parts of the sleeve and back of my new Ralph Lauren puffy jacket. Mother and I both spent a good time wiping off the spills (after going back for more napkins, out of the red caboose to the main counter out front).
The restrooms are accessed from the outside - ask at the counter for the combination code. As time passed, it became apparent that others had heard of Mt. Hood Brewer before - the place was now jam packed.
