Mu Lan - Review - Kendall Square - Boston - The Infatuation

"Mu Lan is the answer to all of your group dining anxieties. Big round tables draped in white tablecloths and crowded with plates from family-style feasts dot the always-bustling dining room. There are even a few cordoned off private rooms, free to reserve if you plan ahead. Start with West Lake soup, a savory and warming broth thickened with egg, and flaky scallion pancakes with sliced beef. Look for house specials marked on the menu, like the braised pork shin in brown sauce, which is silky, savory, and has so much collagen you can feel your nails and hair improving with every bite. To counteract the meat-heavy dishes, try the stir-fried pea pod stems or water spinach, and if you’re looking to splurge (and aren’t afraid to get your fingers dirty wrestling cleavered crustaceans from the shell) indulge in the scallion ginger twin-lobster special. photo credit: Joe St. Pierre photo credit: Joe St. Pierre photo credit: Joe St. Pierre photo credit: Joe St. Pierre" - Catherine Smart

Where to Eat and Drink in Kendall Square

"This Taiwanese restaurant is tucked into a quiet part of Kendall, and is the kind of place to order plenty of dishes to enjoy family style around the table. The mapo tofu is excellent, and the menu is packed with options, so count on multiple visits to make a dent in all Mu Lan has to offer." - Celina Colby, Eater Staff

8 Best Mapo Tofu Restaurants in Boston - Eater Boston

"If you’ve ever walked by Mu Lan’s Cambridge location to see the little parking lot packed and the tables full, it’s a testament to the delicious dishes that await at the Taiwanese restaurant, which also has a location in Waltham. Mapo tofu is listed as “ma-bo bean curd” on the menu, and diners even have a choice of spiciness level. Try it with Mu Lan’s stir-fried pea pods with minced garlic." - Karen Wilber

Google
Very tasty food with a good portion. I particularly enjoyed the pork chop (we ordered it twice). The fish was also nicely flavored and spicy. The restaurant has a well-lit space so a big group would fit here nicely. I will definitely come back here again!

Google
The food was okay. It is nice to have pork shin and whole fish, as both are not very common around here. The veggies could be fresher, especially the luffa. I also wish they didn't thicken every dish and put less sugar in them. The service was quick, and maybe because there were people waiting for the table, it feels that they weren't very patient, but that's understandable.

Google
A true gem for home-style Taiwanese cooking. The ambience here strikes a sweet spot between traditional and modern, with a lively energy that feels very welcoming. The food really delivers - the smoked duck had a gentle smokiness with a refreshing taste, while the salt & pepper pork chop was well spiced with a satisfying chew. The star was the braised pork shin - tender, rich, and perfectly balanced between sweet and savory. Overall, very satisfying dishes with great service and warm hospitality. Will definitely return when we are back in Cambridge.

Google
Though it’s promoting as Taiwanese food but it’s not. They didn’t ask for water so that we don’t know there’s water provided. Overall food is ok. Service is not good. The amount of lunch special is not big.

Google
With countless recommendations from my friends, I finally made it here—and wow. Now I completely understand the praise they’ve given this place. I fell in love with the pork chop and eggplant. Of course, the Mulan fish, their signature dish, was also very flavorful, but personally, I preferred the first two. The food was perfect, but their hygiene left much to be desired. When I ordered a canned soda, both the can and the accompanying cup were noticeably dirty, stained with what seemed to be one of their food sauces. Other than that, their service and food were perfect.

Google
Visited this restaurant 2 days in a row for lunch. The smoke duck must try. I like beef scallion rolls, yummy in my tummy! Recommend! Squid ink dumplings each one is so big, satisfied! We ordered 2 dishes all had green mustard, my whole family loves green mustard, if you eat it with carbs (rice. Noodles, rice cake) it’s paradise!!! The restaurant is very busy during lunchtime, but food comes quickly after you order.

Google
The atmosphere is far beyond food. The chicken and duck is obviously served from the vacuum package to the table. But it's ok considering the price. The overall experience is ok. Nothing surprised. Three cup chicken's absent from the menu is a little disappointing regarding a Taiwanese restaurant. A good restaurant to stop by and eat, but not going solely.

This is our last meal before heading back home. This is the best Chinese food we had in the last two week US East tour. Authentic Chinese food with reasonable price. Definitely worth to try.

Yelp
I came here with my family to try a Taiwanese restaurant while visiting Boston. My son loved the braised pork dish. All the dishes tasted good to me. My husband had a higher standard, he said it was ok and that he wouldn't come back. My son and I would come back. The waiter was very attentive to us, great service. The restaurant was pretty crowded when we left. Nice atmosphere.

Yelp
Taiwanese food in Cambridge! I only found this spot because it was recommended by a few friends who grew up in Taiwan (if that tells you anything). Really good spot for family style and/or a casual, special occasion and their seating can easily take large groups. Most dishes are made to be shared, and ordering one per person is usually more than enough. Atmosphere is casual; aesthetic is white table cloths and round tables w/ lazy Susans type beat. It's tucked away in the Cambridge suburbs, so it can be a little bit of a trip if coming from the city - but it's worth it. The place usually gets packed if you try to go at an average dinner time, but service is relatively fast once you're seated. Some dishes I really enjoy: the Mu Lan Fish (fish is cooked tender, and swims in a really yummy sauce with a little bit of spicy), Scallion Pancake with Beef (one of my favorite items to order if a place offers it; they give a generous portion of beef here), the Eggplant with Basil (can never go wrong with this one, the eggplant is so soft and saucy), and the Homestyle Chicken (it's one of their cold appetizers, the chicken is very simply-prepared, tender, and not too gamey, and comes quick).

Yelp
Ordered takeout. Food was ready in 10 minutes. Super fast - House duck: I ordered the half duck and was disappointed. The parts were given were full of fat and some of them were not edible - I had to throw those away - squash with yam: pretty bland flavor

Yelp
Pretty good food. Always get a table in less than 30 minutes wait though most of the time we came with a big party. I like their Eggplant with basil and Mulan fish!

Yelp
salt and pepper pork chops was great, fish also tender, eggplant was yummy but not the best. overall good portions

Yelp
Home away from home. When you moved to a new city, you settled in first, and then find an ideal Chinese restaurant caters to your taste. And Mulan is it. The service staff were fast and friendly, and the food was delicious. At 5:30pm on the Saturday we went, it was bustling already. I should note that most of the patrons were Asian (a good sign). Tea and a small plate of kimchi cabbage were served upon arrival. But rice doesn't come with entrees.

Yelp
A large group of us (8 people) got lunch on a Friday and were able to get a table after making a reservation 2 weeks in advance. The place was quite crowded, so it was a good thing we had the reservation. Everyone ordered a dish, and everything was shared, and we still had 3 containers of leftovers. As some of the people in our group were vegan, we tried several vegetable dishes including: the bean curd/bamboo shoots (a favorite although pricey at $24), the basil eggplant (my personal favorite; although it's labeled spicy on the menu, it was not spicy), snow peas for greens, and bean curd with mustard greens. We also got the scallion pancakes which came with an amazing sauce! For meat, people tried the fish filet, stewed pork, and a beef dish which seemed all pretty well-liked although I can't comment on details since I didn't try those dishes. Service wasn't perfect given the busy lunch time rush, and our waitress forgot the drinks and 2 dishes that we ordered but brought most of them quickly after we reminded her. They never brought out one of the dishes we ordered to-go even after the check was paid. Thankfully they were able to deliver it to us since we live close. The initial receipt was also inaccurate, including something we didn't order, and we had to get the check revised. The total for 8 people came out to be $250 (we didn't get any alcohol) excluding an automatic service fee for larger groups. I imagine the price would be considerably higher including fees and more drinks. Overall, come here to enjoy some delicious authentic Taiwanese food with generous portions which reflect in the price, and be mindful the restaurant can get very busy which can affect the quality of service.

Yelp
Came here on a Monday night and there was no wait for a table for two. Table immediately had a pot of Oolong tea ready for us. We ordered the pork and shrimp dumplings and pupu platter. I was impressed the dough skin for the dumplings were obviously handmade. The skin was thin with just the right amount of chew and the contents were flavorful. Recommend the dumplings! The pupu platter is a set of assorted fried items. The items were good but we realized it was a bit too heavy for two people to finish. I don't recommend this platter unless you have a bigger group to share with. Although it's only two pieces of each type of fried item, the flavor from one fried item to another was not different enough for me to enjoy eating one of everything. Service was typical service for a traditional Chinese restaurant. They will be immediately helped with whatever you ask for but without a smile. Busy, loud, casual atmosphere filled with chatter of the dining groups. Good for families.

Yelp
Excellent service and super fresh authentic food . No other Americans in sight which tells you something about the authenticity. Lots of food, served up fast. Love it here.

Yelp
I really liked this restaurant. I think the food is really good and the quality of the food is good too. We ordered the mapa tofu, beef scallion, popcorn pork, fried rice, and stir fry noodle. They were all good portion and was enough to share for 5people. The portions were good and the price was not too pricy. I recommend coming in a big group since it is spacious and share different food. There were unique dishes that I want to try next time. Also the food came out really quickly so it's also good to come to grab a quick meal. I would definitely come back in the future and try different food on their menu

Yelp
This is was my first time trying Taiwanese food and I thoroughly enjoyed it! The service was really good. My favorite was the fish and egg fried rice. I can't wait to come back and try new things on the menu!

Yelp
Came as a party of two on a Friday afternoon and was really surprised to come into a full house. We were able to snag a seat without wait and ordered a hot pot and house pork to share. Food came out in like 20 mins so it did take some time to prepare. The hot pot is raved about and with good reason - it was flavorful yet light, but had this unique signature sour taste that isn't as strong as a pickle-like tingle per se, but does make the taste bud go into 'explore' mode. The house pork was also wonderfully cooked and served with string bean. The restaurant, food, and ambiance is really a 4-star from me, but I accidentally left my credit card after paying and our waiter ran down the street with it once he found it. +1 star for that effort - its very appreciated instead of them just holding my card and waiting for me to call back the restaurant once I've realized. tldr; authentic Taiwanese spot, a must go if you're trying to get your fix in.

Yelp
The food was so delicious! Came in a big group so were able to get a lot and share. I didn't like how the rice didn't come with the dish so that had to be ordered separately. But it was busy but everything came out pretty fast!

Yelp
We went on Xmas day, much appreciated for opening with amazing service, they were super busy but they still checked on us several times. Extremely friendly and polite manner, I will say this is the best manner I ever encountered. It makes the food even more delicious! Inside decor is very nice, we got lucky to sat in a room my kids were so happy, husband was amazed. Very clean floor. The food is very good price with great portions and temperature. If you looking for heavy strong taste, well they are not, just right amount and I don't taste much MSG, if u feel u are in desire of a soda after eating, it normally means they added a lot of MSG. The best must order is their smoky duck, super favorable, smoky and fresh juicy!!! I will tell all my friends and family and absolutely will go many more times. BTW, I was highly recommended by a coworker and my first time there.

Yelp
Mu Lan Taiwanese Restaurant has some of the best Asian food I've ever eaten. We were seated quickly in their busy (but not loud or noisy) dining room, which was nicely decorated. Service was also prompt and attentive. My husband ordered the house duck, which was fabulous - juicy and so beautifully seasoned. I had the smoked pork with leeks, which was really delicious. We both had enough leftovers to have with breakfast at our Airbnb. If you're in Cambridge, be sure to eat at Mu Lan.

Yelp
Amazing lunch deals with super flavorful dishes and large portions! When I ordered by phone, the dishes were ready within 15 minutes. The hunan style bean curd with pork is wonderfully saucy and filled with pork, bean curd, mushrooms and leeks. The fish fillet with spicy bean sauce isn't spicy at all and is flaky and tender. The shredded pork with baby bamboo is delightfully smoky and a little greasy, paring perfectly with rice. I will definitely be coming back to try their other items!

Yelp
Came with a larger party of 7 for a team dinner - we called ahead for reservations, so there was a round table set aside for us; but around 6pm on Sunday, there were still a decent number of smaller tables/booths available. We ordered a lot (!) of food, pictured, but I will just detail some of the highlights. For appetisers we loved the homestyle spiced chicken and the spiced beef. I really liked how the natural flavour of the chicken was brought out by the light seasoning, and similarly the beef was so nicely cooked with a rich aroma. The chicken with string beans were a particular treat - string beans were nicely crispy and the chicken was tender and juicy. I don't know what the brown sauce is in the dish name but that was Quite good, too. Other than that, other high points included the Mulan fish (which was acceptably spicy, but not too much) and beef with leek wrapped in pancakes (warning: includes cilantro). Price was a tad high but nothing too surprising nowadays. I think overall I had a great meal here and I'd love to come again to try some of there other dishes (especially for lunch specials!)

Yelp
I didn't realize that Mu Lan was so close to my apartment until I was randomly looking for a place to get lunch one day. It's in a pretty nondescript building (good sign), and when I walked in, I noticed that there was a mix of people speaking English and Mandarin (also a good sign). I had a little corner table by the window, which gave me a nice vantage point from which to see all the people mill in and out of the restaurant. It is obviously popular. I ordered the Hunan beef, which was very good and reminded me of my time in Taiwan a few years back. The table came by default with a pot of tea (delicious) that I finished entirely. Every drop LOL. It is really an amazing deal at $13 for the beef lunch special. I'll be back!

Yelp
Came here on a Tuesday after work for a dinner and we were seated pretty quickly. The food we ordered also came out super fast - before most of our group even got there! Definitely efficient service and quick turnaround. The food was all very delicious, but a little pricy for the portion. Nonetheless, everything was really well done and I would order each plate again without hesitation. We shared five dishes for five people and it was enough to leave us pretty satisfied. I loved the eggplant and fish dish the most while the greens were a solid Vveggie and the pork was spicy while delicious. The rice balanced out the meal, albeit it was a little basic and we could've done with just white rice honestly. The place was packed by the time we were wrapping up and the staff handed us our check before us asking for it, signaling they wanted us to leave. This place is your typical Chinese restaurant with delicious food and standoffish staff who don't seem very friendly but get the job done. I've been here with my parents in the past and they enjoy its authenticity as well - solid place for Chinese food!
google avatar

Yelp
This place is legit hands down the best Asian restaurant, honestly probably better than Chicago. The food is super delicious and the portions are huge for the price. They're always super busy, so we try to go early for dinner. I love their mu lan fish dish because it's super spicy and yummy! Instead of getting steamed rice, we just order fried rice because it comes out to be about the same price. I legit come here every time I visit Boston because it's so good. I think my friends goes like every week since they live in Boston. I believe there is another location, but apparently this is the authentic/original one. People need to come here regardless if they're local or just visiting Boston. Words cannot justify how good this place is without trying it.

Yelp
Loved our visit here. It's in a great location in Cambrdige and walkable to The Garment District and MIT. There was a great variety of lunch specials and were all reasonably priced ($10.95-12.95). The prices make it a great place to stop by for some quick lunch with friends and I wouldn't be surprised if this was a good dinner spot too. Ordering was a little confusing since there was a qr code for online ordering but someone came up to us to take our order so I guess they are patient and let you take your time. We ordered a few things which all came out very fast. Scallion Pancakes: a simple, classic appetizer that you can't go wrong with. It was crispy on the outside and a little flaky throughout. Dipping sauce was light and not too overbearing but it still adds a bit of sweetness and soy flavor to each bite. Bean Curd in Brown Sauce: delicious all around. Sauce was savory and went well with white rice. The bean curds were light and soft and paired with the mushrooms, added a nice texture to every bite. Eggplants with Spicy Garlic Sauce: another great lunch meal with a suace that pairs well with white rice. The sauce was very flavorful and the eggplants were cooked nicely; it was not too mushy nor too tough. Salt & Pepper Pork Chop: some of the best salt and pepper pork chops I've had. They were made fresh and hot and each piece was juicy and had the right amount of fatiness to it that just melted in your mouth. So delicious! Overall, a great experience and a tasty lunch. We are thoroughly satisfied. Great pricing and big portion sizes so be prepared to take some home with you. Absolutely recommend this place!

Yelp
Shit service and blend dishes. The male waiter with a ponytail has an extreme poor attitude. He gave us receipt when we are still eating. I hope he is having a good life. The owner also try add tips without our consent.

Yelp
4.5/5 The food here is so good!! We ordered the lamb with scallion, the pineapple shrimp, and the basil with eggplant. Everything was delicious and I would definitely recommend this place. Knocked off half a star because I think the prices could be a little cheaper even with the large portions (the pineapple shrimp was $30+ and the lamb was $20+)

Yelp
Been hearing about this place from Chinese friends and finally tried it - food was good, and the amount was generous. They have pretty big menu. We tried various things from different sections. Seems hard to go wrong with anything, particularly if it's flagged as recommended. Loved the leek pancake. The whole fish and the salt and pepper chicken were very nice too. The dining environment is good. Bright and clean. They also have private dining rooms for groups.

Yelp
I've been to Mu Lan a bunch of times since my initial review. I can't say enough great things! It's really easy to order online through their website (I used to live around the corner, so my roommates and I would grab takeout here all the time). Everything was always prepared in a timely manner. In terms of food, they've got tons of great options. There's something for everyone - they have some more Americanized options like lo mein and fried rice, as well as some more authentic options that are always fun to try. Also plenty of both meat and veggie options, so it's a great spot for all palates and diets. I've heard rave reviews about the crab rangoons from my friends (I'm not a crab rangoons person in general) but I really enjoy their noodle and rice dishes. Note: I've mostly been here for takeout, but they have a nice dining area as well! Highly recommend!

Yelp
Overall: Went for lunch with excellent pricing and portion sizes. Service was quick with the food and the decor was recently renovated to give a more modern Chinese restaurant vibe. Eggplant with Hot Chili Sauce (Yuxiang QieZi) - comes out fragrant and once you take a bite you're quickly reminded of home cooking. The eggplant is steamed tenderly and the sauce is the perfect balance of sweet savory and a bit spicy. The rice is well cooked and the portions were generous. This dish came out to $11 overall which in this covid inflated period is a pretty good deal.

Yelp
Great choice for a family meal and big parties. Plenty of seating and many options to choose from. The cold appetizer of Smoked Duck was my favorite--we ordered half to try before realizing we could've been happy with the full size. The smoky and savory flavors are delicious! I also recommend the eggplant and basil. It comes out piping hot but it's very tasty. The fish fillet was good as well. Will try the shredded pork with dry bean curd next time--one of my favorite Taiwanese dishes. They also have a lunch special menu and Chinese banquet menu as well.

Yelp
My family came to visit me in Boston over Thanksgiving, and picked out this place for dinner. The environment inside is quite pleasant although a little bit crowded, and the servers are all very friendly. I ordered the steamed mixed vegetables and requested they add tofu, which the staff were happy to accomodate. I also got a side of brown rice. The portion sizes are decent, and overall very nice place to go for a family dinner.

Yelp
Good Food, been there for my birthday a couple of times. Service and workers there are very quick. Usually pretty busy and the ambiance is great.

Yelp
Mu Lan is my new stop for authentic Chinese-Taiwanese cuisine! It's conveniently located next to MIT tucked away with its own parking lot! My girlfriend and I stopped in around 6 PM on a Friday night, and we were so lucky to get the open table. It gets busy for a reason! Mu Lan is a local favorite, and recommended to me by a friend who immigrated here from China. As we sat down, we were greeted with hot tea and pickled veggies. The menu is quite extensive, so tried our best to try their known dishes. We opted to order the pork chop with rice (排骨饭), Mu Lan fish, and West Lake Soup. We were blown away by the pork chop rice and devoured it minutes within it being placed our table. The fried pork chop tasted like the ones my grand pa used to make when I visited China. The Mu Lan fish packs a spicy punch, and it worked very well with the extra rice they gave us. The West Lake Soup came in a massive bowl enough to feed 5-6 people, which was great because we packed up the remaining soup and had it for lunch the next day. Very pleased with Mu Lan!!! Come check them out when you're in the area.

Yelp
Love the food here! This place is near my work office so its always a treat to come here when I do show up in the office. L15 is one of my faves and a go-to item, house special pork chop over rice. I like it so much because it comes with really taste string beans, a whole egg and some shredded pickled veggies. It all goes together really well. I also ask for their hot oil to make it perfect! The plate is really big and hefty and is sure enough to satiate the hungriest person. With some discipline, this is easily 2 meals. Price is really good for their lunch specials, too. Definitely visit Mulan if you're around the area. They have a really good menu. I've been going there for many years and always had a good experience. Grab a free guava candy on the way out! Sometimes they'll offer a cash discount, as well.

Yelp
I have been overlooking this place for 7 years, I walk past here almost daily so one night my fiancé said what do you want for dinner out of the blue I said let's try Mulaun, he was confused but went along that night we ordered the chicken fried rice, hot & sour soup, beef lo mein, and the diced chicken with spicy sauce, day 2 = the very next day fried rice, chicken wings, general Tso chicken and hot & sour soup (the rice was completely different in look and texture) we called they said come back in for a replacement so we went right back, they replaced and yet the rice was a miss again. Needless to say we went back the next day and got the vegetable lo mein and chicken wings again. Typing this I can actually go for some lo mein now.

Yelp
Super good! one of my favorite Chinese restaurants in Boston so far. Everything tastes authentic and the overall environment feels very clean. Fast seating and friendly service. All the food was super good. The smoked duck was tender, juicy, and so flavorful. Eggplant and rice cakes tasted as they should and perfectly flavored. Prices are pretty reasonable, and portions pretty big.

Zoe N.

Yelp
Lunchi special is cheap but it is not in good quality. I looks nice but it is not well cooked and I even see some blood in the salt and pepper pork chops.
google avatar

Yelp
Always enjoy coming to Mulan. We got the smoked duck, eggplant, fish soup with preserved mustard greens, rice cakes with pork and the mapo dofu. The smoked duck was extremely juicy and tender. It wasn't served hot but I'm not sure if it's normally supposed to be. 10/10 would order it again. Of the dishes we ordered, this dish stood out. The restaurant is normally pretty busy so call ahead and make a reservation. There's a few private rooms off to the side if you have a larger group!

Yelp
One of my Taiwanese friends recommended this place, and this place was awesome! It feels like very authentic Taiwanese food. Very delicious and the portions are so big too! And the food came out very fast. We had Mu Lan fish, Salt & Pepper Pork, Watercress, and Moo Shi Pork. We liked everything, especially Mu Lan Fish, Sal & Pepper Pork and Watercress. I would highly recommend this place!!

Yelp
Went for the 1st time, was pleasantly surprised that the places packed on a Tuesday night (sign of something good was about to happen). We went with the recommended dishes. Started off with the cuddle fish dumplings, a generous 10 piece portion of the most tender, juicy stuffed dumplings I've ever had. Then came the sauteed bean curd sheets with black mushroom & the Taiwanese pan fried noodle with pork. Both exceptional dishes unlike anything else I've ever tried. Can't wait to revisit & try other items.

Yelp
Went to this Taiwanese restaurant close to MIT for lunch. They have a lot of vegetarian options and we enjoyed the dishes with Tofu, potato and eggplant along with fried rice. Service was quick and good and a nice ambience.

Yelp
Outstanding Taiwanese food and friendly, efficient table service. We started with the onion pancakes which were crispy, filled with multiple layers and not greasy. We moved onto the pork and cabbage dumplings which were steamed and accompanied by a light soy based dipping sauce. They were plump and well seasoned. The stir fried rice with pork included soft rice cakes with tender pork and a blend of vegetables. Finally, our favorite dish was the Taiwanese fried rice with ginger green onions and egg, which was flavorful and included a contrast of textures and the right amount of saltiness. Definitely will be eating here again to try all of their dumpling choices as well as other specialties.

Yelp
Top 3 Chinese food in the whole area. Best pork fried rice for sure. Fast service for sit down or pick up.

Yelp
Cannot say enough good things about this tiny gem just outside Kendall Square. The menu is a bit pricier than some Asian restaurants, but their chef(s) must be the reason. We ordered some of their Taiwanese specialties -- the spicy chicken with peppers was absolutely amazing! We also ordered their handmade dumplings and some mixed vegetables to share. You know a place is truly great when their preparation of mixed veggies is a showstopper! These were the best, most perfectly cooked veggies with a delicious mild sauce we've ever had at any Asian restaurant - even those ordered in Chinatown over the past several decades. The waitstaff is attentive and works as a team to ensure all diners are never in need. They have a tiny parking lot out front that an handle up to 6 or 7 vehicles - which is rare for this area. All in all, this place rocks! We intend to continue exploring their menu...

Yelp
Very average Chinese/Taiwanese cuisine. Value isn't too bad, you do get 10 dumplings for $12 or $13 but the dumpling skin was too thick with barely any filling or taste. The noodles were pretty decent but nothing special. Perhaps I didn't order the right items such as ones from their more Taiwanese selections. I may come again but there are many other good Asian places to try.

Yelp
After a morning of touring MIT, we stopped at this restaurant for lunch. The food was reasonably priced and the dishes that we ordered were delicious with the exception of the pan fried dumplings. You can see from the photo that dumplings were not done well and plated without care. Also, we were disappointed with one of the waitstaff. He didn't fill our water glasses and was quite abrupt in his altitude.

Yelp
Good service, fantastic authentic Chinese food. We came here with a Chinese family and placed ourselves in their hands for ordering. So many delicious dishes: tofu with black mushroom, shredded pork with shredded bamboo shoots, cold smoked duck, sautéed pea shoots, fish in a spicy tomato sauce filled us up. A beef dish and a soup were ordered but never materialized but were not on the bill.

Yelp
Located in a nice part of cambridge, close to the bridge connecting to Boston, Mulan is a taiwanese restaurant that also has another location in Waltham. We went during dinner time, and it was definitely packed and we had to wait around 20 minutes for a seat, so i'd recommend against coming here during rush hour. The parking lot is small, only accommodates a few cars, but there's plenty of paid street side parking. The dishes we ordered were phenomenal, especially the crispy chicken--it was salted perfectly and fried to perfection. The Mulan Fish was also delicately soft but flavorful in the spicy broth. If you're into duck, their duck is a must try. Portion sizes are very reasonable and will definitely come back again. FYI if you bring cash they'll give you a little discount on the final bill

Yelp
Grabbed takeout from here and it really hit the spot- was so good! I've been looking for a time to go back so I can try more of their menu. Serving sizes are generous. Prices reasonable. Authentic and has even gotten the vote of friends from Taiwan. I love that they have a traditional menu. I've tried: + Hot & Sour Soup + Mu Lan Fish + House Special Pork Chop on Rice Platter

Yelp
We did takeout so cannot speak to the ambiance, but the food was very good and reasonably priced for the large portions given! Will come again!
