"There are two Muddy Paw locations in the city, but their Eagle Rock has an outdoor patio perfect for both you and your best friend. Well, man’s best friend, that is. In addition to an impressive menu of specialty coffee drinks like the “Golden Retriever” (a spice-y blend of turmeric, ginger, and cinnamon) and the “Salty Old Dog” (which contains a double shot of espresso, raw dark chocolate, and sea salt), Muddy Paw has also created a socially distant dog park, filled with benches for humans and fenced-in turf for man’s best friend." - kat hong

"In a neighborhood loaded with high-end places serving $8 lattes, Muddy Paw is a welcome relief. It’s a dog-friendly spot on Sunset in Silver Lake with a great outdoor dining room. You can still get a cup of coffee here for $2.50, and additionally, a portion of all their profits go to local animal shelters. It’s not the most glamorous spot in the neighborhood, but any place that lets you sit with your three bulldogs on a patio with free Wi-Fi all day should be near the top of your list." - Brett Keating

Google
Tried a couple of the empanadas (ham & cheese, beyond meat, and samosa) and they were all delicious and had a perfect texture. Also tried the ube brownie - they were out of the cookies - and it was magnificent. If you’re a fan of ube, absolutely try it. My partner got an iced matcha which I tried and thought was very nice; I got an iced mocha with oat milk and it was wonderfully bitter - the dark chocolate really came through. Everything cost ~$35+tip. Pretty reasonable considering how much we got for it.

Google
Joey, Keifer, and the rest of the staff are friendly. The outdoor space is lovely. The patrons are friendly, and I almost always meet new neighbors. It's also been great for groups. And the patio stays dry even it it's a bit rainy.

Google
Been here a couple times, and I’m pretty pleased overall, mostly because it feels unique and has a calming vibe. We like to go out back and paint. Good amount of space. The drinks are pretty good. I mostly enjoy their empanadas and sweet treats. The employees have been nice and helpful. Parking is not easy, of course, as it never is in this neighbourhood. Pet friendliest!

Google
Amazing chill coffee place to hang with your dog. Highly recommend the maple bourbon cortado special right now. My wife loved the honey lavender latte. Food wise, I tried the bacon and egg empanada -excellent flavor and lots of cheese.

Google
Honestly, I love dogs, so why would I go anywhere else when this place saves animals? What a gem. All of the employees work with precision and care and I always have amazing conversations with them! It’s my favorite place to start my day. Here is my favorite drink to get… a wag the tail + oat milk and sugar free vanilla. Try it….

Google
I love Muddy Paw. They have phenomenal drinks and the staff have always been very friendly. They have a patio towards the back with a decent amount of seating that is remarkably quiet given how close to the street it is located. I'll often times stop by, grab a drink and a pastry, and then sit down to read for an hour or two to enjoy a peaceful afternoon.

Google
I was really disappointed with the service here. From the moment I walked in, the barista made me feel rushed—constantly saying, ‘Anything else?’ without even greeting me at the door. The blonde guy behind the counter looked like he didn’t want to be there or offer any real service. It felt impersonal and dismissive. To make it worse, this is supposed to be a dog-friendly place, yet no pup cup or treat was available. When I asked, I was simply told to buy their merch if I wanted my dog to have a treat. Out of all the coffee shops I’ve been to, I regret Google mapping this one. Definitely not worth the stop

Google
This is such a cute and chill place to work from or hangout with your pup! The back is shaded with lots of seating so you stay cool in the sun. The cinnamon role was addictive and the empanadas are soo tasty. Love the vibes and friendly staff too!

Yelp
I can't believe how many times I've walked past this spot and never thought to pop in. I don't know why I thought it was maybe a dog-specific bakery? Well turns out, they DO have baked goods here for the pups (down to doggy birthday 'cakes'!), but it's so much more. Great coffee drinks that live up to their inventive names/descriptions. I had the Salty Dog: espresso, raw dark chocolate, caramel sea salt, milk and it was solid. If you think it's gimmicky here don't fret, this is a genuine cafe. Staff is friendly, one man I met (I wonder if he's the owner or manager) mentioned he has 30 years (!) of experience as a barista so you know coffee there is legit. He also mentioned their other location in Eagle Rock: larger and has a dog park! They also showcase a big variety of Nonna's Empanadas, no matter the taste/dietary restriction. And open door to Haley Solar next door which was also a great find - a colorful boutique with great finds. Overall an awesome local spot that I definitely see myself coming back to whenever I'm in the area.

Yelp
So glad I finally tried this spot! - iced latte with oat milk + simple syrup was perfect. creamy but not too sweet - GLUTEN FREE pizza roll biscuit (very excited about this discovery) Parking is just along sunset, depending on time of day, can be tougher. We found a spot easily on a Sat morning. Great service and really cute patio/backyard that would be perfect for getting work done. Love the cause too! Will return.

Quinn Q.

Yelp
Easy to find. I just parked in the neighborhood nearby because it was absolutely impossible to find parking nearby. Other than that, my experience was wonderful. Service was great, quality drink, I will always root for any dog friendly business. Lots of comfortable patio seating. WiFi is weak, I recommend using your hotspot.

Thessa V.

Yelp
Good coffee and good snack options. I'm sure I'm not the only but I'm sure lots of peeps enjoy the very dog forward place and the sitting nook area is a cozy hideout amidst the narrow silverlake foot traffic, but service is always very eh like you're bothering the two people who run the counter lol.

Steve A.

Yelp
For sure this is one of the best places in Silver Lake for coffee. It also has quite a few baked treats to get. Muddy Paw is also dog friendly if you couldn't already tell. All good things about it so far. The prices aren't really that bad for around here to be honest. Came at breakfast for coffee. It's kind of hidden among other buildings, but once inside, it's bigger than it looks. There's a pretty large inside seating area with plenty of tables. Coffee is the main thing of course. Plenty of things to choose from. It's about $6 for a typical coffee. The one I got was the Salty Old Dog. This is espresso, sea salt, and choice of milk. Plenty of non dairy milk options to choose. We also got a few treats. It's about $5 for one of the baked goods. The one that looked the best was the Vegan Cookie Sandwich. It's like two chocolate chip cookies and icing. This one was plant based though. Has just about the best coffee around. It's also good to pair with the many baked goods they have. There's plenty of these okay for vegans.

Ken E.

Yelp
Great coffee shop. Small and intimate with a secret courtyard out back. Seems like a hidden gem. Obviously dog forward. My Peruvian pour over from the newbie behind the counter was on point.

Joyce G.

Yelp
New place that my daughter wanted to try out. LOVED IT!! Can't wait to return. I generally love places that supports dogs, has good drinks, has a few things to eat, and a nice place to sip and chat. This place definitely fit the bill. Parking can be challenging on a Sunday. We were lucky to find free street parking a short walk away. This little coffee company is fairly small. We were lucky that they weren't busy, so we were able to go over the drink menu and ask questions without feeling rushed. I LOVE empanadas, and I've never tried Nonna's, so this was perfect. LOVE that their empanadas are labeled. We chose to sit in the back instead of on the sidewalk. In the back, there's a little fireplace which felt great in this chilly weather. DEFINITELY coming back.

Melissa N.

Yelp
We happened to walk by on a weekday right before closing. I had a vanilla latte shortly before closing. It was yummy. Solid. Smooth. Well balanced. Not too sweet. Hot. You could really appreciate the espresso. The gentlemen working was very cool, offered some insight on the variety of drinks. The shop itself is adorable with lots of dog treats, cakes, accessories. Coffee accessories too. They sell a wide variety of Argentine empanadas, we didn't try these. I'd for 100% return for this drink. Excited to try others.

Clara C.

Yelp
My friend sent me a link of the best independent coffee shops in the WORLD. Guess who was on that list? Muddy Paw. I can't believe this little tiny shop in Silver Lake, Los Angeles, made it on a list of TOP COFFEE SHOPS!? I had to try it out. Plus, who doesn't like enjoying Silver Lake? (For those curious, it was on Financial Times, compiled by Rosanna Dodds FEBRUARY 27 2022) My friend and I stopped by on a Saturday afternoon. There was hardly anyone seated in the back, so we didn't have to worry about finding a table. We went back to the counter and placed our orders. I had a vanilla latte called "Puppy Love" with real vanilla extract. I didn't know at the time, but because of the vanilla extract, my latte smelled alcoholic. I was so thrown off but drank it anyway! My friend said her matcha latte was off, but we never figured that one out. Not sure I'd come back to get those two drinks, but the seating area in the back was nice and cozy. There was an area with like a campfire in the middle. The cool thing here is part of their proceeds go toward some charity. Back in September 2023, they were donating to organizations to help Maui. Parking - find metered street parking during the day

Salina C.

Yelp
The golden retriever classic is literally perfect. It is a perfect mix of sweet and spicy.

Aimee C.

Yelp
The coffee names are so cute. The coffee is relatively cheap for Silverlake. This was $7 and it was rich and hit the spot

Anna C.

Yelp
I stopped here right before a visit to the new Baggu store and had a great experience! I ordered the puppy love which is their take on a vanilla latte, and added cinnamon. It was a very solid drink, and I liked that they combined the cinnamon into the espresso rather than just putting it on top. The coffee is flavorful and the drink didn't have too much ice. Their back patio area is super cute and well shaded, a bunch of people were working here on their laptops and it was a nice little retreat. Parking is very very hit or miss but I got lucky and was able to find street parking right outside on Sunset (and free because it was Sunday!).

Justine D.

Yelp
Such a peaceful spot. Love the patio in the back and the iced lavender latte was incredible. It had little bits of real lavender in it. Lots of people on their computers. I was excited to see that they also have the Nona's empanadas that I believe are the same ones from the Grove. I must try the Ube cookies next time. There is metered street parking and plenty of outdoor seating. Bathroom requires a code. A true gem of a spot!

Yelp
Muddy Paw Coffee has an unassuming storefront, but it's a fantastic coffeeshop! The coffeeshop's interior is pretty cozy; it's packed with all types of goodies to buy and the decorations to look at, and I thought it was very cute and homey. The patio in the back has a lot of seating. There's a variety of wooden benches and tables to sit at, in addition to some couches. They have free Wi-Fi, as well as outlets along the wall. Overall, it has a nice set-up for getting some work done or chatting with your friends! The drinks are all dog-themed, and I got an iced Salty Old Dog which had flavors of dark chocolate, caramel, and sea salt. After the $1 off from the Yelp Check-In, my total was $4.50--not bad at all for LA prices. The coffee was yummy, but a little on the sweeter side. The chocolate flavor was definitely the most dominant as I couldn't really taste the caramel or sea salt, but it was still a fantastic drink. They also sell empanadas and baked goods. The service was great. The barista was helpful with offering menu suggestions and made the drink super quickly, so I didn't have to wait at all. In terms of parking, there's really only metered spots, but there is plenty to choose from so hopefully it isn't too difficult to grab a spot. Most importantly, I think Muddy Paw stood out to me for their mission. They donate the proceeds to local animal shelters, which I love! This place has definitely made it onto my list of favorite coffeeshops in LA. :)

Nina D.

Yelp
Kiefer makes the BEST springer - muddy paw is a great place to chill. Truly the heart of silver lake. I've been coming here for years, always love it!

Wilfred A.

Yelp
The coffee and atmosphere is great. The employees do not match the vibe however The employee with the half-man bun is probably the most miserable person you will ever meet. Just cause his music isnt taking off (overheard him whine about working) does not mean he has to spread that negativity to my coffee. Patio is great and has many outlets if you need to do some work.

Viri C.

Yelp
I've been here a few times and the Empanadas are always fire although the service it's always wack. But this time the beyond empanada tasted like it was made next to Mr clean. I like beyond meat, but today was not that great. The mushroom empanada it's always fire Also the latte was not that great. The coffee tasted burnt and it was made without caring. Again it's a hit or miss with this place it depends on who is working. I hope next time I go it's a better experience. By the way the patio on the back it's nice and tranquil place. Check it out

Meimei Z.

Yelp
Friendly staff and delicious pastries! I think cold brew is okay. The patio is spacious, and you will meet furry friends there :)

Kim G.

Yelp
I really wanted to like this place because of its cause and its great patio but the service made the experience terrible. The girl did not look like she wanted to be there, she barely talked to you and after we ordered I felt like I had to apologize for making her make a cup of coffee. Not the best attitude for a business that gives off calm good vibes. Also that coffee was very bad I threw it away

Michelle M.

Yelp
I have no photo to share with you of the cinnamon roll that I had as I devoured it very quick. It was so tasty and a good size. I did feel like it was pricey at $7 so I don't think I would have it again in the future. The other pastries all looked very good. They do have a nice seating area outside where you can enjoy your food & beverage. You should be able to find street parking. This is really great to add on to a walk around seeing the painted stairs of Silverlake.

Kayla Y.

Yelp
Great place to study if you like outdoor patios! They have outdoor patio seating in the back of their store and the tables along the walls have outlets! Free wifi too. They offer good coffee and snacks. Overall a great vibe and would come back! Parking is street parking but it wasn't hard to find a spot. Staff is super friendly.

Amanda D.

Yelp
great patio and i love the cold brew but the barista with brown hair and blue eyes is always so miserable and short with me and other customers if i see him working, i just go to dayglow or tropical instead. a kill joy!

Holly B.

Yelp
This is one of the best coffee shops around! And they have loads of vegan sweets and empanadas! Delicious coffee, great back seating area, treats for dogs! And bonus, they donate to the school across the street (something Alfred doesn't do!) Highly recommend this place!

Jessica O.

Yelp
Found this pet friendly coffee garden while meeting a friend and had to stop by for their coffee! It was so good and their empanadas and vegan pastries were all so good! I love that they have baked goods for our fur babies! Nice environment to sit, get some sunlight and catch up w a friend. I saw few people working on their laptops. Overall nice environment.

Clara N.

Yelp
a wonderful cozy spot right in the heart of Silverlake! love that the proceeds go to benefit dogs and animals. parking: metered or neighborhood. we did not have a ton of trouble on a Monday afternoon. seating: lots of patio seating! nothing is indoor so if you are sensitive to weather, be wary. since we went in the summer, it was lovely, but we did get a couple bug bites. study/work space/ambiance: very calm and serene. I liked that there wasn't music blasting. also some outlets in case that is important to you! great place to chat quietly with friends. dog friendly from my knowledge. drinks: very fun and unique. I tried a matcha drink with raspberry and sparkling water which was super refreshing. will definitely come again if I am in the area!

Mark V.

Yelp
Highly recommend coffee spot and really dog friendly! Coffee was really good ordered the dirty paws coffee and it was perfect. Seating was really nice but parking is fairly difficult considering the don't have public parking Overall definitely recommend

Luke L.

Yelp
Muddy Paw Coffee Company is a small hole-in-the-wall & dog/cat friendly coffee shop in Silver Lake. [Parking]: Street (metered/residential) parking only, but on a side note Muddy Paw has another location in Eagle Rock and street parking is much easier with a small & private dog park. [Amenities]: Service was super friendly and you will need to ask the staff for restroom code. There's a small & hidden outdoor patio located behind the coffee shop. Apparently they also sell CBD snacks for dogs and cats! [Menu]: No tonic here, but you can request to add CBD ($3+) to your coffee drinks and all large iced drinks are made with an extra double shot. For snacks they sell empanadas for $5.20 each (or 3 for $15) as well as other pastries such as cheesy kale square, coffee cake, ube brownie, vanilla rice krispy treat, etc. *** Honey lavender latte (hot $5.25): This is one of their most popular drinks and the drink had real lavender. It was a good cup of coffee, but honey was slightly overwhelming and I couldn't really taste lavender flavor. *** Alfred Coffee is literally located just across the street so you have plenty of third-wave coffee shops to choose from in this area. This is a really nice spot to have a secluded date or bring your pups.

Jay A.

Yelp
Just tried this adorable place for the first time this morning. Clearly a wonderful place to take your dog. Plenty of outdoor seating outback, additional seating along the sidewalk on Sunset. Hence an easy place to relax with a coffee drink and your pup. Honey Lavender Latte $6.75 Espresso, Local Wild Honey, Fresh Ground Lavender & Choice of Milk. The taste was decent, but it was too sweet. Did not realize there would be too much honey in the drink. Should I order this libation again I will request they cut the honey in half. It was a 3.5-star coffee drink in my book. They had little dog treats for Elizabeth. She told me the treats were 5 stars. They also sell doggie cookies in cute forms. The reason I gave them 4 stars and not 3 is the fact they donate proceeds from each sale to the animal shelter. This is a great thing to do and will make me come back, spend more money here. However, next trip I will opt for just black coffee or a latte.

Carl N.

Yelp
When you're looking for a paw-friendly, pet-friendly and good coffee/pastry then Muddy Paw Coffee is the place to be. Muddy Paw Coffee is a small dog and hooman friendly coffee shop located along Sunset Blvd in Silver Lake neighborhood of LA. I came here to grab an Iced Cold Brew. And I was warmly greeted by a male staff. Interior design and layout was well organized but very limited space. However, their outdoor patios (front/back) were spacious, relaxing and dog friendly. I ordered a regular cold brew coffee with whole milk and splenda. Cold brew coffee was very smooth and sweetened. It's bloody perfect! Furthermore, they have a variety of hot/cold coffee and tea drinks and empanadas. Their coffee has two sizes: a regular (12 oz) and large (16 oz) cup. Prices seem reasonable and affordable. Staff were amiable, professional and followed health protocol. Street (metered) parking only. Overall, I truly enjoyed my iced cold brew drink, their mission and their pet friendly environment. I HIGHLY recommend this cute little coffee shop.

Wendy W.

Yelp
The guy at the counter really goes the extra mile to make you feel totally unwanted and unwelcome. I would chalk it up to a bad day but it's been totally consistent every time I've gone there. I'm all for employees not feeling like they have to plaster a smile on their face but don't make me feel like scum for patronizing your business. Don't think I'll be back. Too bad!

Julie S.

Yelp
I am currently housesitting down the street or up the street from this charming café. It was recorded to me by the host and owner of Harry. He really loved the treats they sell. I had an excellent oat milk, latte, and a gluten-free coffee cake. Got some work done on the beautiful back patio.

Quinn V.

Yelp
Cute place. Good service. Excellent drinks. All for a good cause rescuing dogs. Dogs welcome!

Aarti V.

Yelp
So yummy! I got their horchata rice krispy treat and it was so good. They had a wide selection of gluten free friendly pastries as well! The shop itself is quite small but there's an outdoor patio in the back that is so spacious with lots of places to sit for lounging and/or working.

Olivia T.

Yelp
Great coffee and even better service. They were very kind and there were plenty of places to sit plus wifi. It was very calm and there was lots of street parking.

Daria F.

Yelp
Very cozy place, I got latte with macadamia milk it was really nice They also got cute pies and deserts, great customer service

Sharon Y.

Yelp
Service is wack. They forgot our coffees when those were the only thing we ordered. It's not like the place was busy either. Won't be coming back.

Sofya P.

Yelp
Chai was great. Decent matcha. Nonna empanadas are yum. Cute outdoor area to sit with your pups (or without) and sip on good drinks. Cute dog treats. Will definitely come back!

David L.

Yelp
Delicious and cozy little coffee spot in Silverlake for coffee/dog enthusiasts alike. First time here and the Salty Old Dog became my instant favorite, not too sweet, not too bitter with a delicious taste of dark chocolate. Nice secluded little patio in the back to enjoy your brew with your friends or your pup Consider saving a pup too

Luke H.

Yelp
"Dog friendly" is the first thing you will be greeted with in their marketing, but that is far from the only thing they have to offer. In fact, most of the patrons didn't have a pet with them, they came for the cozy patio or the varied drinks. If you want to learn allllll about the offerings ask any questions of the staff/owner and he will tell you all the intricacies of their cold brew or their cold espresso [two different things] or the matcha etc etc They are as passionate about what they serve you as what they offer in terms of accessibility to pets. They have a selection of tasty food treats in addition to their longer than LA usual drink list. I didn't try the food, but it seemed popular and looked good. There are plugs and shade and tables on the patio so it's a good spot to go work or meet or just enjoy and sip and pet your furry friend.

Malia Z.

Yelp
The coffee was so good. strong and perfect amount of flavors. the worker was friendly. will be coming back

Christopher P.

Yelp
Excellent coffee here! The staff were super nice and pretty fast at making their drinks. I tried a seasonal drink and it was so good! It was called the "Dog's bite" and I highly recommend it. There is room in the back to lounge if you need. Next to the painted stairs so you can work off some of that sugar.

Nikki C.

Yelp
I didn't have the best experience here but I am 100% willing to come back again and try their coffee. drink (1/5): I definitely wish I got my go-to order. I tried to be adventurous and got a mint espresso. It was not my cup of tea. I won't recommend it if you like sweet drinks. It was very bitter and did not taste good with mint. I couldn't drink more than 10 sips before tossing it. Definitely wish I just got a vanilla latte. service (4/5): The employee was very nice. He gave me different recommendations including the mint espresso. parking (2/5): Only street parking - on such a busy street it was so difficult to get good parking. I had to park in the residential neighborhood that was up the hill in 100-degree weather, 10 minutes from the cafe. not exciting. - Please vote below, comment, and like the photos to give me feedback on my reviews - For more reviews and photos, follow my instagram: @nvc.eats

Yelp
A hidden coffee gem! I never knew a quiet coffee shop like this existed in the busy part of Silver Lake. I first stumbled upon Muddy Paw while going for a walk down Sunset Blvd. From the outside it just looks like a small coffee shop but they have a back patio with lots of tables and outlets! Free wifi is also available and is pretty reliable. It's a great place to get work done as the cafe is pretty quiet with music in the background that's not too loud. Best of all, I love that Muddy Paw supports a great cause. A portion of their proceeds goes towards local animal shelters. How amazing is that?

Rachel M.

Yelp
Three stars only because the coffee is really good. However this place is grooooooss! The bathrooms have visible dirt everywhere. There were band aid wrappers on the floor of the bathroom. The guy working in the front had a scowl on his face and seemed very annoyed by customer presence. The couches outside are dingy and disgusting and while we were there some entitled yt man invited his pitbull on the couch. The pitbull's peen was erect and rubbing all over the couch. Also it was absolutely freezing outside and even though there's a fire pit and outdoor heaters, they were both off. My guess is the rude guy in the front really didn't want people hanging out there.

Judy T.

Yelp
Sweet local cafe. Very chill and so awesome they support animal rescue with proceeds. It's a doggy paradise! Met some very cute pooches and had a delicious iced green tea. The shop itself is adorable and they have a lovely outside back patio. They also serve my favorite Nonnas empanadas so I will be back when I'm in the hood.

Kayla D.

Yelp
Keiger the barista is surely a delight! Very knowledgeable in coffee and pastries as well! The atmosphere is great just for you or for you and your little pup! I really love it here and I can't wait to come back again!

Rod S.

Yelp
I had never been here, but a friend and I thought to try it and what a nice surprise. Creative coffee drinks at reasonable prices. Much better than place with the Green logo. And it is pet friendly. Of course, the name implies that!

Radiant S.

Yelp
When I experience good customer service, I make it a point to bring attention to it. As a first time patron to Muddy Paw I really appreciated Teddy's helpfulness and thoroughness in narrowing my choice. They took into consideration my personal preferences, felt like I was being given a custom order. I went with a Honey Lavender which was delish with a lovely lavender aroma and slightly sweet taste. We will be back.

Samuel C.

Yelp
Fine fine coffee house. * * * I can't judge the coffee. I was way caffeinated before I showed up. I was there for the seat and the scene. * * * But any coffee house that offers you a New York Egg Cream Is a Palace of the Gods. Now, if you really ask a New Yorker about Egg Creams, They will tell you that most Egg Creams are actually not that good. They are hard to make because too much syrup and you go cloying. Too much seltzer and you have tasteless vaguely chocolate soda water. * * * Muddy Paw knows how to make an absolutely perfect New York Egg Cream. Their version is better than what you would get in most Manhattan delis. I can also tell you that a perfectly done New York Egg Cream Will give you more energy than a Sledgehammer Four Shot Espresso. And with none of the violence and jitters of the Sledgehammer Four Shot Espresso. You will continue the rest of your day perky and happy, getting things done. So, serving good New York Egg Creams is technological progress here. * * * How is the rest of the coffee house? The crowd is cool enough. Standard Silver Lake which is already moves you to San Francisco levels. The outdoor court is lovely. The fire pit is just what the doctor ordered if you are there on a chilly day. There are just enough sockets and good enough tables that you could stay working there a good while if you were so inclined. * * * Overall, a top place. One of these days I will actually have to have their coffee.
