I'm always down for a breakfast sandwich. Morning, noon, night. Admittedly the menu was very inviting and I couldn't decide what to order. I went with the sausage sandwich-- they should be able to do the basics, right? Surely.
After receiving my food, it was clear that parts of the menu were a little misleading. (1) While images of the sandwich depict a runny yolk, all sandwiches come with a well done egg unless you tell them that you want it runny. Is it worth all the confusion for a great looking photo? Debatable. It's reasonable to assume that people will expect to receive what's depicted. (2) On the menu, the photos of the eggs in the sandwiches look like they've been cooked sunny side up in a pan with crispy edges. Great! What I received was an egg that was clearly overcooked in an egg mold. (3) I won't get too much into the depiction of the size of the sandwich, but check images of the menu vs the image of what I received below. At the end of the day I get it: you can't expect your food to look like the glamour shots on the menu. But what I received was the "we have breakfast sandwiches at home" equivalent, and I think that's worth pointing out.
Sausage Redemption - Overall, this was decent. The sausage isn't as salty as others and the aioli was like a tangy-er thousand island. Good balance of flavor. Again, this was on the smaller side and I just wish it wasn't so thin and tiny.
Hashbrowns - Thinner and smaller than I expected. It almost tasted like it was baked-- while it wasn't oily at all, it was missing the crunch just about everywhere. It was borderline soggy in the center, which I'm not opposed to. The dusting of ranch was concentrated in the center and added little to the overall flavor.
Strawberry Rose Lemonade - I ordered the Peach Infused Tea but got this instead. While it was tasty with just the right amount of sweetness, I probably wouldn't order it again.
That said, there's always going to be McDonald's comparisons: how could there not, considering the similarities and there's one about five minutes away. The food here had a "cleaner" taste-- not oily, not as salty, etc., but when you go to a fast food joint you know what to expect. But if you're hungry, you can easily get two sandwiches there for the price of one here. As a value proposition, this place pales in comparison.
Would I come again? Maybe, but not anytime soon. Perhaps they're working out the kinks at this new location?
