The Best Breakfast Sandwiches in Los Angeles, According to Eater Editors | Eater LA

"The concept at Muffin Can Stop Us couldn’t be simpler; just put a bunch of eggs (mostly sunny side up) and different ingredients between an English muffin bun, and call it a day. From the classic with bacon, egg, and cheese, to shredded barbacoa or sliced turkey, this is the one-stop breakfast sandwich shop Glendale, DTLA, and Studio City always needed." - Mona Holmes

LA Restaurants Supporting Armenia And Artsakh - Los Angeles - The Infatuation

"In addition to having one of the punniest names in the city, Muffin Can Stop Us has created a new breakfast sandwich called the “Never Tarragon” - a muffin made with hard boiled eggs, tarragon, cheese, and various spices. For every Never Tarragon sandwich sold, they will donate double the proceeds to the Armenia Fund. Available for takeout and delivery, call (818) 688-1005 or order through their website." - kat hong

Google
Very fun and unique place. Food was delicious. I had the Sausage Redemption, my husband had the Sloppy Chorizo and our daughter had a chocolate chocolate chip muffin and a hash brown. My daughter didn't care for the seasoning on the hash brown (my husband loved it) but said it was perfectly crispy.

Chow C.

Google
Went to visit the DTLA spot. Ordered the egg & cheese muffin—super bland. Hash brown was soggy, not crispy at all. BUT the sauce saved the day: spicy, pickled, aioli perfection. Honestly, the sauce deserves its own menu spot. Got sick from possible (bacon) cross contamination from my breakfast muffin 😩

Google
We’ve been to DTLA a couple of times now and most mornings we go to Muffin Can Stop us for breakfast. You order at the counter and then sit down and wait for your number to be called (only a few minutes). We did observe many people doing takeout and of course the delivery people too. The breakfast is just perfect. I have the bacon and egg and my vegetarian son egg with hash browns. Highly recommended fora quick tasty breakfast!!

Google
Had the Dream Come True and a Cubano iced coffee. Not gonna lie - that was the best breakfast Sammie I've ever had. The Cali sauce was divine, the turkey sausage juicy (not greasy), the avocado fresh. Staff was friendly and service quick.

Google
Tiny café that serves creative muffins and coffee. The bacon, egg, and cheese muffin sandwich is my favorite. The vibe is laid-back, and staff are very welcoming. Parking is limited but manageable. Definitely worth stopping for breakfast

Erika S.

Google
This place has an amazing vibe. A great view of Kobe and even more entertaining watching Baymax chase people on the sidewalk. Loved the unique drinks and menu options. Wheelchair friendly and has a friendly staff. The prices are amazing for coffee. Haven't seen a coffee price this low in LA in forever. Got the Vaccino and Oatmix and Chill

Google
Absolutely delicious breakfast sandwiches. I am a huge breakfast fan, and am blessed to live very close. Initially being a customer, was a bit tense. But I've become a regular, and its cool 😎 ✌️

Google

Yelp
Been a Muffia for about 5 years mostly at the Glendale location, but the DTLA is closer now. I'm happy everything is generally freshly prepared, the hash browns can be on/off depending on how busy they are (busy=better/fresher) but the added veggies are fresh. Best is eaten on site since containering any of this causes steam to make things much less crisp. I do note every sandwich can be ordered as a Bowl, which basically skips the muffin and turns it keto/low-carb. (No discount or extra fee but you get added veg to make up for the missing muffin.) I do love their coffee especially. The place is generally mellow though there is an occasional guest music artist pop-up from time to time. This DTLA validates the adjacent underground parking. Street is scarce on weekends due to the number of residences in the area. Accessible entrance is the 12th Street side and the exit is the other driveway door.

Yelp
We get these delivered quite often at work for our breakfast Wednesday's and the staff couldn't be happier with their selection and overall flavors and quality. The staff is very friendly and the website pretty straightforward to fulfill your orders. You'll be pleased with your Muffin decision.

Yelp
Tasty breakfast muffins! I didn't try the coffee selection but I did enjoy my chicken sausage muffin. It was prepared pretty quick! Price is on the higher end but sometimes you have to treat yourself. Only other drawback are their hours; I'm not hungry for them during breakfast hours but when I have the afternoon cravings they are closed! Look out for there seasonal selections. Their current "drop" is a soyrizo sandwich that looks so good! I'll have to save that for another trip, hopefully early enough in the day.

Yelp
I got the banana coffee drink with oatmilk. And the classic american muffin. The drink was meh. The muffin was alright but it was small.
google avatar

Eleni Blue M.

Yelp
Their specialty is Muffin sandwiches & they are good and made to order. You can add hash browns but mainly just muffin sandos on the menu. Coffee options are delightful and all look delicious. I tried their iced raspberry mocha latte with no whip cream. I have tried their banana latte before. They're both great tasting. They do have some seasonal muffin sandwiches and also yogurt and açaí fruit bowls as well as teas & fresh squeezed orange juice. Today was crowded as they were offering a special treat for the first 300 customers & ran out early. The service was slow but steady. They do have outdoor seating and a bathroom for customers

Yelp
The mother muffin salmon was great! Came with a good amount of salmon. Mixer great with the cream cheese. I also had the Cubano latte. It's not bad. It's not that sweet and it has some type of smoky taste to it. Not sure how to describe it but it's interesting.

Yelp
Omgggg the food was amazing. Great service and how could I not looking at the Kobe mural

Yelp
Found this spot for a quick breakfast grab around my work. I got dream come true muffin and vaccino iced coffee. Muffin is on a pricier side but it came out a lot of ingredients. The sauce came in a separate container which I liked for a to go order. Coffee was so so, but it is expected since it is not a cafe. My order came out in like 5 minutes. Overall, it is a very decent grab a quick muffin in the morning.

Yelp
Had breakfast here during the week and it was lovely! Line was short and the food came out fast. The muffin that I got was really good, and the bread itself was toasted to perfection. Hash brown on the side was a must, although a bit pricey, in my opinion. Good amount of seating for the small space, and lots of good natural light. Employees at the register were really nice, and I also like that they had water cups with fruit infused water that was complementary. Will definitely come back for breakfast here!!

Yelp
Date of visit: 1/18/2025 We tried a couple of things here: - mine: Americano (cheese, egg & crispy bacon) with added hash brown & avocado inside. - my son's: Dream Come True (crispy bacon, chicken sausage, egg, cheddar, spinach, tomato, avocado) with added hash brown inside. With food, first bite says it all. It goes a long way and leaves a lasting impression. Just like our first bites of our muffins. They were so good, that my son ordered his 2nd, this time Americano just so he can try a different one on the menu. Not a coffee drinker, I ordered OJ instead to share (forgot to take a pic of it). The OJ here is without pulp. I prefer mine with lots of it. If you need a quick bfast near USC that opens as early as 7 am, def come here and let the Muffin stop you!

Yelp
Soooo, co-workers and I looking for morning breakfast sandwiches. Muffin Can Stop Us pops up on my Yelp feed. Pictures are sooo cool & pretty! Food looks yummy ‍ *If you want breakfast sandwiches they Got it! * you want waffles they got it! * you don't want anything heavy say less they have Açaí bowl, yogurt parfait, & over night oats! * Fresh juice * a variety of different iced & hot lattes * Even have a kids menu! I had blueberry muffin & açaí bowl with oat Milk latte oh & hash brown for 1.95 seasoned with a hint of special seasoning So flavorful & perfect! My co workers had classic Americano sandwich & hash brown & the other had the açaí bowl too & the vaccino (she let me try the drink & it was soooo amazingly good!) I give this place 5stars! For the service & honestly the prices are really good!!! For the average working person who can't afford a $10 latte and $20 breakfast sandwich!!! The quality is official too! It was plenty of street parking. I paid a meter. The DTLA area is decent too! I will be headed back there

Eskinder A.

Yelp
This place is overpriced for absolutely no reason. It also seems very common for them to get orders wrong. I ordered "The Dream Come True," which includes avocado, but when I got home, all I found was a bunch of spinach and not a single piece of avocado. The meat looks frozen and gives off a McDonald's-breakfast vibe. And get this, they charge $7 for orange juice. Yes, you read that correctly, seven dollars for a simple orange juice. Overall, it felt like a McDonald's breakfast dressed up to look fancy, but priced at five times the cost. A complete disappointment.
google avatar

Sarah B.

Yelp
My pick up order was sent to the wrong location (DTLA). The only communication method MCSU uses is a phone call. I called four times to cancel and every time I was routed to voicemail. So now there is an order languishing on their counter, I'm out $25, and all of this time and energy has been wasted. Come on guys. Put someone on the phones during business hours.
google avatar

Yelp
Coffee options are unreal!! And the breakfast sandwiches were yummy. Cute area downtown with seating outside

Yelp
I woke up early and noticed this place was open at 7 AM. I was excited to give it a try, but unfortunately, it didn't live up to my expectations. [Food 3/5]: I ordered the Dream Come True, and my friend had the Americano Muffin. Both were pretty average in terms of taste. They reminded me of a McDonald's breakfast with In-N-Out-style sauce. For the price, I expected something fresher and healthier. [Service 3/5]: We ordered pickup on our food delivery app, but it wasn't confirmed for a while, so we headed over and it was already prepared. It didn't seem busy at all when we got there, so maybe the staff could be more attentive on online orders would've been appreciated. [Ambiance 4/5]: The shop looked clean and nicely decorated, with plenty of outdoor seating available to enjoy your meal. Overall, since I prefer healthier food options and this place didn't align with that preference, I don't think I'll be returning.

Yelp
A new breakfast sandwich spot has opened in DTLA and it's delicious. I came here for the first time recently and I ordered the Pastrami Papi and a hashbrown for a late breakfast. Everything is made to order so it takes a few minutes but the staff here are friendly and helpful with any questions I had. The decor is bright and I love the branding everywhere on the walls and even the merch is cute. My pastrami papi sandwich was delicious and filling. There was plenty of pastrami in my sandwich and the english muffin was well-toasted and crunchy. The dijon aioli and pickle dipped cucumbers cut through the fattiness of the pastrami and the egg and cheese added a rich and creamy flavor. The hash brown was crispy and had good potato flavor. Pricing is quite good for what you get and It's pretty affordable considering this spot is in DTLA. There is parking available at one of the nearby lots or you can park on the street.

Yelp
First time here, ordered the "Dream Come True" English Muffin Sandwich. Fantastic choice. Can't wait to come back and try others. Service was pleasant and helpful. Ambiance is casual and good vibes with the yellow decor and artwork. A definite return for some yummy food!
google avatar

Mandy A.

Yelp
This spot was just next to my work, got Dream Come True sandwich for breakfast. I was fresh and good. It would have been great if there was little bit of sweetness like sauce or honey.
google avatar

Nohely M.

Yelp
This is such a chill and vibrant spot! Plenty of seating in and out available and gender neutral restrooms. This is a quick muffin stop grab and go or sit and eat, the service is quick overall. I used my check in offer today and I ordered the horchata iced coffee, which did not disappoint at all! The hint of cinnamon, the horchata and coffee with whipped cream was amazing! It definitely hit the spot and I was caffeinated! I also ordered the classic Americano muffin, it includes: aioli, egg, crispy bacon and cheddar cheese on a muffin toasted! The flavors all went well, lots of cheese and the egg was cooked right. You can ask to modify your egg as well, there are other extras that you can add on to your muffin. For a quick bite breakfast, I definitely recommend this spot! Check them out for sure!
google avatar

Griselda S.

Yelp
Delicious breakfast spot in the heart of DTLA. I've been here a couple of times now and the food and drinks never disappoint. I love to order the BLAST and order one of their various cold coffee options. This is one of my favorite breakfast spots on Saturday mornings. Typically you can find parking right in front or on the side of the location. Be mindful that it is downtown so careful where you park since I've seen people get tickets. If you love breakfast sandwiches like I do then you have to try this place!
google avatar

Monica K.

Yelp
Cute hidden gem. Popped in for a quick lunch while in DTLA for a work meeting. Tried the B.L.A.S.T with a side of hash browns. Was served quickly and hot - you can tell it was made fresh to order! Service was great and lots of cool customizable items to choose from. My out of town colleague also ordered the raspberry mocha latte - let's just say he's been raving about coming back to LA just for that drink. Yummy all around.
google avatar

JL S.

Yelp
Slow service even when not crowded. No true vegetarian options. Flies are everywhere. Skip it.

Ami V.

Yelp
I came across this place when they were giving free breakfast sandwiches, and ever since then I have been it has been my go to breakfast place. The drinks and breakfast options are one of the best that I have tried around here.
google avatar

Ariadna M.

Yelp
Perfect on-the-go breakfast spot. A few neighbors and I ordered a different muffins to try before our game night and they were all so delicious! I love their Sausage redemption with hash browns and a side of Karma Coffee
google avatar

Hannah F.

Yelp
Muffin is so good, that I almost didn't post this review since I don't want more people going there - but it's also so good that it deserves endless praise! I'll keep it short and sweet: every sandwich is delicious, the coffee menu is so fun and the price is stupid low, the hashbrowns with ranch seasoning are out of the world (and yes, it can be put on a delicious sandwich), and the staff are super kind even when the place is slammed busy. Keep doing what you're doing Muffin, I love you. (P.S. come to Chicago)

Michael L.

Yelp
Great food and amazing service, definitely will be coming back here for breakfast again
google avatar

Aaron C.

Yelp
What a great addition to the neighborhood! An establishment with excellent coffee and breakfast options. I would even go as far as to say the breakfast sandwiches here are the best in LA! They are experienced in systems because they have other locations, which equates to fast service. The place is always clean and they take pride in their location. They also have thrown some brunch parties to liven up the neighborhood and contribute to the culture. I had a chance to speak to the owner and he is serious about bringing value to the locals and is very down to earth. This is a tech-forward restaurant. They support touch pay, they have a rewards system, and they support online ordering. Grab 10 of these sandos and take them to your office to be MVP of the week.

Veronica T.

Yelp
Delicious! Definitely recommend for those who have a palette taste for more rich flavors!
google avatar

Lauren H.

Yelp
If you love mayonnaise more than anything, you'll like this place. Otherwise, it's not gonna be for you. My breakfast sandwich literally had mayonnaise oozing out the sides slathered on both sides of the bread. My worst nightmare, but maybe that's your dream scenario, idk.
google avatar

Erick V.

Yelp
Solid lil sandwich, got the lox bagel. Paired this with a hash brown and coffee. For the price, hash brown should have been a free add-on when you order the coffee and bagel. It was good, nothing crazy for me to rave about. I would come back. Staff was awesome and very friendly.
google avatar

Aarica B.

Yelp
I've been wanting to try this spot for a while, and while the concept is great, I have to say--you're honestly better off making the same exact sandwich at home with better ingredients. I ordered an Americano breakfast sandwich, and when I opened my container, all the cheese had melted completely off the sandwich and into the muffin holder. So instead of enjoying a cheesy, melty bite, I was left with a plain sandwich and a sad mess of cheese stuck to the container. I ended up having to take the sandwich home, make some modifications, and add my own cheese just to make it edible. As for the hash brown, it had this weird white powdery coating on it and just tasted like straight fried grease. No seasoning, no crispiness--just a heavy, oily bite that didn't add anything to the meal. Overall, this is the kind of place you go to if you're starving and have no other options. It's not horrible, but it's definitely not worth going out of your way for.
google avatar

Darrel K.

Yelp
I ordered a breakfast Muffin with chicken patty, two runny eggs, avocado, hash brown and one slice of cheese. First try - no chicken sausage. Second attempt - just one egg (fried) Overall, the food is good, but I wish they could get my order right next time. Just let me back in the kitchen with the ingredients and I'll make the sandwich myself. :) Thanks.
google avatar

Yelp
Took my partner here for our monthly pastry date. We had a hard time finding parking and wound up paying over $20 so I do not recommend parking in the lot adjacent to this building. But the space is cute and the staff was friendly. I wish they would turn down the volume on the loud-speaker though. My partner ordered the Cubano and I went with the Carma - both were delicious. For food, I had the Dream Come True without the cheese or Cali Sauce. It was really good. They had the Pastrami and really liked it. We shared a Nutella & Banana as a dessert and it was solid.
google avatar

Jasmine G.

Yelp
I attend at least twice a month since it's so convenient to me location wise. Thank you and your staff for all that they do. Great quality food and welcoming atmosphere (event for pets).
google avatar

Sergio G.

Yelp
I've never heard of this place so I had to check it out. I ordered the Pastrami Papi and Vaccino, let me tell you it was great! The favors of the muffin sandwich and coffee were a mouthful. I wanted to order another sandwich but didn't lol. Alma was great and relatable, her suggestion of the coffee was a good one yet I would definitely want to try some others they have. The place was quiet, clean and small. It has inside and some outside seating. One thing I would suggest is that they offer plates. The sandwiches can get a little messy and the little squareish box they come in is not good enough other then that I would definitely recommend to try this place out.
google avatar

Yelp
This was a cute and vibrant coffee shop near DTLA, CA. Friendly staff greeted me immediately upon my arrival at the register. This was my extremely fortunate stop from Stop1/3. I informed the barista I was at the shop attending DTLA's partnered up 'Treat O'Clock,' passport event. Immediately, the barista located passport stickers since we were supposed to receive a total of 2 more since we got a short cut. I was excited upon receiving an additional sticker. Any ways, I decided staying here dining in because there was no crowds when I arrived. I ordered: 'House Brew,' iced coffee and Waffles with an extra serving of Avocados on the side to ear with the waffles. Delish!!!! I'll be back again next time I'll be in DTLA. XoXo Thanks for participating in 'Treat O'Clock!' Passport Scavenger Hunt for Summer/2024 event. From Becky L (YelpLAEast Elite)
google avatar

OG R.

Yelp
A good place to grab a quick breakfast while walking my dog! Good selections. No parking. Service was fast. A little steep with prices, but that's expected anywhere in DTLA.

Dmitry B.

Yelp
We ordered food at 1:30 pm, store accepted our order, when we arrived at 2:00pm, employees said that place is closed and there's nothing we can do.

Melissa G.

Yelp
I love getting breakfast here , there service is amazing the staff are super sweet . There's a variety of everything &' their muffins are so yum
google avatar

Jared F.

Yelp
This place surprised me. For a very quick breakfast place it tasted very delicious. I recommend this place one hundred percent if you are in the area. It's got a cool vibe to it and all of the staff are super friendly and helpful. There is outside seating available as well.
google avatar

Alexis M.

Yelp
Muffin can stop me from coming back to get more delicious muffin sandwiches. I absolutely loved my egg and cheddar sandwich with a hash brown added. The aioli has a fantastic flavor which I absolutely loved on my sandwich. The staff were friendly and the food came out hot and quickly. I like how there are seats so you can enjoy the food there but it is also packed well enough to be eaten on the go.

Crystal G.

Yelp
I really wanted to be excited about the banana walnut muffin but meh. customer service is mid.waited a while for someone to acknowledge me and take my order. Parking is scarce. Prob wont be back. .
google avatar

Natalie H.

Yelp
This place is delicious! Simple menu with high quality ingredients. The muffin was fresh and soft, the eggs were perfectly cooked, the bacon was also fresh and tasty...simple ingredients that go amazing together. So fire. And they're fast!!! The cashier was helpful and friendly and it's just a great spot for a quick breakfast. 10/10
google avatar

Brittany I.

Yelp
Very solid breakfast sandwich, would definitely order again. Classic offerings with the option to add extras like avocado, fried egg, and hashbrowns inside. Some sandwiches also have veggies like tomato and spinach for more freshness! Loved the aioli it comes with. Only miss for me was the hashbrown - not horrible, but kinda tasted like it had been sitting around a while. They also have a lot of coffee offerings but I haven't personally tried yet.
google avatar

Keveta R.

Yelp
I ordered a dream come true hash brown and a carma coffee. First the hash brown was not fresh it tasted like it was an old hash brown that's been sitting under a lamp since yesterday. The sandwich was good but they should consider wrapping the muffins with cheese in paper before of placing it into the muffin box. The bacon could have been cooked a little bit longer. I ordered my food through the yelp app I was not able to add any special notes which i didn't like, so I called the restaurant and spoke with someone she was very helpful and was able to provide me with the additional condiments i requested. I may try it again , because of the service (from the phone call) and the Carma Coffee!!!! The coffee almost got this review 4 stars.
google avatar

Eric S.

Yelp
Amazing breakfast sandwiches. Fast and friendly service. Clean spot to dine in. Wouldn't recommend eating these sandwiches on the go.

Leo C.

Yelp
Food is good and fresh. Yogurt and oatmeal bowls are delicious. Coffee and service is well. Ambiance is chill.
google avatar

Tara L.

Yelp
Such a cute cafe. Love the outdoor seating and the cashier was really nice. Also the food didn't take long and it was really good. I loved my sandwich and the tea was pretty good too. I will say the hash brown was way too crispy, not sure if I would get that again, but would definitely go back to try another sandwich.

Yelp
UBEREATS second order---Muffin Can Stop Us- wait pause, how cute is this name? The name alone had me floored. As a coffee connoisseur, I thought to myself can I commit to a purchase three cups of coffee!! Of course I can!!! Let's go Banana Boat- think banana pudding infused into a coffee, banana foam--this is it, all it needs is a Nilla wafer crumble in top. Raspberry Mocha Coffee- think raspberry truffle transformed into a smooth coffee- a blend of fresh raspberries, decadent chocolate, whipped cream, rich flavor and velvety finish. Carma coffee was good with strong notes of vanilla, butterscotch and caramel it was my least favorite, but I was glad to sample this flavor!! If you want to try a variety of fab flavors, muffin shouldn't stop you from visiting this coffeeatery!!!
