Food and service was good. Prices were a bit high for drive-in food. Could use a little work on the building. A little pant would make the deck look a lot better.

Google
This was a great find close to the airport. We were looking for good fries and we found them. We also had fried pickles.. sooo good. They do not disappoint

Google
This is a great local place to get food. You can drive up and park, then they will come take your order and bring it to you. They also have an outdoor seat area if you'd like. I absolutely love their root beer! They have a pretty large menu. Anything from sandwiches, pizza, chicken tenders, to pork tenderloin.

Google
Stumbled on this old school drive in while coming through Indy. You can do the drive up and park or eat at tables. The menu is extensive and is inexpensive! They make their own root beer to include diet root beer. We had a variety of items - all good. They take credit cards but you tip in cash. I will be back!

Google
A historic drive-in restaurant in Indy. This place is a must if you are in the area. I always get a breaded tenderloin and onion rings. The tenderloin is thin but bigger than the bun. The onion rings are breaded well and super crunchy. Chase this all down with a root beer float and you have the perfect meal. Be back soon!

Google
Excellent service that was fast, friendly and informative. The food was served extremely fast and tasted great. I had their homemade onion rings which were delicious. The tenderloin sandwich was quite good as well. Definitely worth stopping at and has some great local flavor. Overall great experience.

Google
It was just ok. My first time here and always heard great things about this place and food. Was really sub par. Ordered a tenderloin opinion rings and root beer. Best part were the onion rings and even those were saturated with grease. The tenderloin was super dry and looked like it had been sitting a while. Didn’t taste much better or of anything really. The rootbeer doesn’t even taste like root beer. It tastes like sweetened carbonated water. Not worth the $20 that I spent on it

Google
I liked the place, had a good atmosphere, friendly workers. It was my first time eating there, I ordered the grilled cheeseburger. It was ok, a little to wet on the inside, slippery. But had a good crunch on the outside. The jalapeno poppers were ok. They were cheddar I believe, but prefer mozzarella cheese. The home made root beer is a whole different story! Loved it! Full of flavor and satisfying!

Yelp
Food: great price for what you get. My peanut butter banana shake was delicious. My son loved his root beer float. Apparently they make their own root beer. Onion rings were light and crispy. Not too much batter which made them easy to eat and not feel full. We got the chicken tenders, hamburger and cheese burger kids meal. All yummy. We will most definitely be back to try more of the big menu. Service was quick, friendly and everything you'd want. Ambiance: place is older/run down but that really just adds to the character. It's been around for a while so it was to be expected. Can't wait to come back and try their desserts and other shake flavors .

Yelp
Great tasting memorable corn dogs onion rings and Root Beer . There pizza place in the back has wonderful pizza but the broasted pork Chops are fantastic as well as the Chicken and big roasted potato wedges they even include fried biscuits ..definitely not a great place for your diet, but amazing for your palette.

Yelp
I pulled up and received service right at my car door window. I ordered root beer floats, onion rings, and French fries! I didn't wait very long to receive my food once I placed my order. Onions rings were hot and crispy, on the larger side (definitely shareable). The root beer float was deliciously sweet and creamy! The root-beer was one of the best I've had so good!

Yelp
Long time old fashion car hop!!! Food is good...they have a full menu with all sorts of things, we ordered double cheeseburger, chili cheese dogs and onion rings and mugs of homemade root beer!!! Service was great and atmosphere is awesome..definitely family and pet friendly. They have a nice covered area with tables to eat and you can also just pull up and someone will come and take your order. Also a walk in restaurant next door!! Give them a try...we definitely will be going back to try other menu items.

Yelp
Mug n Bun is a Westside staple after 50 years and loved by many with a steady following. Unfortunately, it is currently for sale and some uncertainty for the future for us who visit often. Our go-to's are the chili dogs and family size French fries. My son loves the breaded tenderloin with everything on it. The milk shakes are good, and I order the peanut butter. The shrimp, chicken, and catfish dinners are very popular. The Italian Sausage and Polish Sausage are decent, and the Sirloin Steak Hoagie is hit and miss. Sometimes it is very tender and next time tough. There is outdoor seating on the deck with indoor seating at the Mug n Bun house next to the parking lot. They are open year round. Mug n Bun Pizza is located at the back of the parking lot. Pizzas are CARRY OUT ONLY. They are very popular with patrons. Pizzas are obviously offered as well as subs, fried chicken, pork chops dinners, and chicken dinners along with family dinners. Family dinners include potatoes, slaw, and rolls. After 54 years, they must be doing something right! Whether you carry out, sit in your car to eat, sit on the deck, or go indoors, it will trigger those nostalgia days of car hops and drive-ins. Stop in and take advantage of Mun n Bun in case they disappear from Speedway soon.

Yelp
Having been to several root beer stands on this trip, Mug N Bun was a bit disappointing. Middle of the pack, anyway. Not bad. Service was a bit curt and slow compared to others. Probably just understaffed. Leave your lights on for service, whether to order or to have the tray taken away. Got a burger and corn nuggets, and of course root beer. Burger was big for a single. Soft bun, good patty, decent toppings- plasticky tomato. Corn nugget portion was smaller than I expected but decent. Nuggets were good; have I ever had a bad one? Root beer was watery (iced, but also thin tasting, it seemed.) Wintergreen and anise predominating. Couldn't see head- they have their own special cups. Different, not bad, refreshing enough. Price seemed high, but then, everyplace has gone up. Good enough that I'd go back if in the immediate area, not worth a detour.

Yelp
I have not been to this place in years. I was in the area and was trying out where to grap lunch. I know it was sold a couple of years back, but food is still the same. I pulled right in, and the server came out and handed us a menu. I ordered the double hamburger without cheese, seasoned fries, and a chocolate milkshake. Food is made fresh and came out HOT!. The hamburger was on bun, but a slice a white bread was placed on top of the bottom bun. I thought it was weird and too much bread. The fries were good but overly seasoned. Chocolate milk was delicious. We decided to eat there because the weather was so nice. Our server was semi attentive, but it became busy, so I can understand a bit. The building itself could use some updating, and it's still easy to find a spot to pull up in. Definitely will be back to try other things since they are open year round. It is important to note the servers take cash tips only, venmo, or cash app. It's plastered everywhere.

Yelp
I've been to mug n bun multiple times on many different occasions. I've ordered different things and the food is subpar. It all tastes like old grease. Every single time I go, the total never matches up with what the total should be according to their own menu, even with taxes added, they add additional charges for literally nothing. They don't provide receipts of what they are charging you. they make their prices up as they go, and it is never consistent. I would steer clear of this place. If you don't want to be charged extra for literally no reason.

Yelp
I love the root beer from this place it has the perfect creamy flavor. The service is nice for a drive in restaurant. My other favorite are the basics onion rings and burgers. This is the perfect place to stop after visiting the race track or if you are just in the area.

Yelp
The Mug'nBun is a Speedway / Westside Indy institution. The traditional Drive-In with wait staff who run out to your cars as well as picnic tables setup and also now a Dining Room building (I have never been in). Great to grab a tenderloin sandwich or any of their many menu items. The Root Beer is homemade and the Floats, Shakes & Malts all are worth the trip. No alcohol, so fountain drinks. But did I mention the Rootbeer?
google avatar

Matthew L.

Yelp
Classic old school drive in with all your midwest favs. If this doesn't bring you back to a simpler time and place (or make you wish you lived then), you must've not been paying attention. The tenderloin sandwich is great and the onion rings are to die for. The homemade root beer is the icing on the cake. Service is fast and friendly. Sit outside on a nice afternoon and feel the nostalgia and enjoy the good old fashioned eats. I wish these places still existed everywhere!

Yelp
How have I not visited a Speedway institution!?!? I met a friend for lunch at Mug n Bun. We opted to sit at the picnic tables instead of in the car so we could visit. There are menus on the table and there is a bell to ring when you are ready to order. I definitely wanted a tenderloin so I went with the grilled option with ketchup, pickle, and onions. They didn't skimp on the toppings which I love and accompanied that with seasoned fries. They were crinkle cut were a large portion that arrived hot and fresh. The seasoning was good but only on the top half of the fries. I enjoyed my meal. My friend ordered the breaded tenderloin and the fried cheese balls. It looked good(tenderloin was more of a fritter). The frosted mug root beer was a hit! I've heard they also make great milkshakes. Nice to finally try a place that hold so much nostalgia and history.

Yelp
Don't eat here!!! -Employees don't wear gloves when preparing and handling food. -My cousin works there and has told me herself, this is highly unprofessional of the company, don't support them at all. -Thought I was done... -You thought wrong... not only previous issues of concern but there are also very unhealthy spaces in this workplace; ceilings have mold and are decaying by the day, -There's also mold on the walls in the basement as well. -This place needs a health inspection ASAP!!! I'd highly recommend you don't support this company unless you want to experience some of the worst stomach issues you'll ever go through yet.

Yelp
Went here for pick-up based on my Dad's memories of a "killer breaded Pork Tenderloin" sandwich and house made Root Beer (I'm visiting from out of state.) First off, service was great - our order came neatly packaged, quickly and accurately. The Root Beer was nice tonight, with more zing than a recent A+W 2-liter bought at the grocery. The crinkle and sweet potato fries, and onion rings were on point. And the fried Catfish sandwich was surprisingly fresh and juicy for a menu more heavily leaning towards beef. My Dad declared the Pork sandwich "good, but not like I remember" and mentioned a lack of juiciness. A Double Cheeseburger had a random slice of plain white bread splitting the patties and cheese - I thought it would be a flavored Texas Toast based on the Yelp pic. But nope - just random bread which was quickly discarded. Unfortunately, the commentary was "it takes me back to my high school cafeteria." Def not a winner there. And also, unfortunately, my Chuckwagon sandwich was pretty tasteless and had a texture that made me question if it was actually beef. Ending on a high note, the two shakes were on point, creamy and rich. As this was my first time, I'll chalk it up to maybe ordering the wrong combination of items. I need to decide if I'll give it a go for a second chance.

Yelp
Friends invited us here and we had never even heard of the place, but it appears to be a West Side, Indianapolis staple. It is pretty close to the Indianapolis Speedway so I think if you frequent the area you know of this spot. They have the old school drive up and order from your car theme going on but also they have an outside seating area where you can hang out as well. They have a few that are covered and some that aren't. There is plenty of parking as well. The service wasn't the best, however not totally shocking considering it is really a dive bar. There were just 2 people working and they were pretty swamped but what I liked is that they were really trying. Like they would run over to a table and let them know they would be right with them. Some places they just move slow like they have no urgency but this place they really did. They were doing the best they could do. They have a HUGE menu with lots of random things but I think their claim to fame is root beer so you gotta order that at least once. They do have diet too. I had a veggie burger which was pretty good. Others at the table had the chili dog which looked amazing, hamburgers, fish and fries. The prices are quite reasonable we had all sorts of food and spent less than $50.

Yelp
We have tried the Mug several different times but it is usually another year before we try it once more. This year we ordered 2 hot dogs, 1 fresh cut fries and 2root beers. We got 2 hot dogs that didn't even fill up the bun, 1 order of COATED "fresh cut fries", and they cost extra. Our 2 root beers served in the styrofoam cups with no opportunity to buy a half gallon or gallon to take home. We found a seat outside with full trash cans, unwashed tables and a nice bee hive of bees buzzing! We took our food home. It looks like an effort could be made to attract the bees away from the eating area. If you wanted more customers? Plus you have to check if they are open that day or not before entertaining eating there. Not sure about the concept.

Yelp
If you haven't stopped by ever to try this iconic spot it is a must try at least once! We had friends in from out of town and in fact from another country and kept telling them about root beer. To give them a proper experience we went to Mug n Bun and ordered some root beer to go. The atmosphere is pure historic diner and drive up and the menu reflects a lot of typical diner food. We love their fries but this time only got the fresh root beer that they make themselves. Delicious! It pairs well with their food as well as anything summery (and pizza as it turns out). Our friends liked it and we felt we had introduced them into a great culinary treat. This is a great spot in the warmer weather but for a fun take away you can get it anytime!
google avatar

Hannah F.

Yelp
You don't realize how good something is until you move an hour away and go back. The root beer alone is worth the drive. So creamy and smooth. I love the breaded tenderloin! The prices on the menu are super reasonable! Like multiple reviews have said, make sure to bring cash to tip the servers. I was unaware, but thankfully had some cash.

Yelp
Legendary! The oldest drive-in in Indianapolis, Mug-n-Bun was founded in 1960. My mom is a diner fan and has never been here, so we went today during the final full day of my month long visit to Indy. I had the Mug-N-Bun Special which is a burger with bacon and cheese on toast. She had a single burger. We also had WAY too many crinkle cut fries, nibblers (baby fried onion rings and their onion rings are the BEST), and cheese sticks because I love fried cheese in all forms. And of course - two root beers. They make their own and it is the best, creamiest root beer I've ever had. You can dine at a picnic table, the dining room (week days only) or pull your car up for carside service! Just turn your car lights on . Deliciously unhealthy lunch at one of my favorite places. I even took a mug home with me! Great service, too. A true icon of Indianapolis.

Yelp
A tradition. The name says it all. Old fashioned hotdog and root beer stand. Back when Americans were cool and drove big gas powered metal beauties we ate at joints like this. Mmm chili cheese dawg. The carhops are nice enough too. Time travel for a chili dog and chill baby. Are you in a Prius? Keep on drivin' bub!
google avatar

Mason S.

Yelp
I got the Mug n Bun special which is a bacon cheeseburger on toast. I also had to get a root beer and it came in a frosted mug. The table also got a lot of sides to share like onion rings, cheese fries, and mini corn dogs. We also ordered corn niblets but they never brought them out. You get a lot for just a side. The service was a little slow but I think that was just because it was the lunch rush and not many waiters/waitresses.
google avatar

Julie T.

Yelp
Old fashioned drive up carhop service with 1960 classic eats. Onion rings and coney dog and root beer were worth coming here. If you are in Speedway and hungry it is the place to stop!
google avatar

Kelly G.

Yelp
If you are in Speedway, Mug n Bun is always a must stop. Today was a cheat meal kind of day so I tried the coney dog and fries. Usually I'd say get cheese for those fries too! My daughter had the burger. They do charge for toppings like lettuce (60 cents) but prices are still reasonable. Their root beer is THE best! They only take cash tips for the servers so be prepared!
google avatar

Yelp
Quick patio service today. Delicious root beer and very filling tenderloin. Fried zucchini was mushy. Parking was easily had today, have seen it at a premium before.

Yelp
What a coincidence! I already had this place on my "To Try" list based on another Yelper's review. I was traveling across town from Avon to the Warren Park area using the Tenth St corridor at lunchtime wondering where I was going to eat lunch. As I started thinking about Slapfish's menu, I passed right by Mug n Bun! I LOVE root beer so I had to turn around and check theirs out. The root beer is homemade says their signage and comes straight from the keg according to the server. I guess I've drank Barq's for too long to appreciate the specialness of homemade but regardless I drank it all from their big yellow cup and found it quite satisfying. I decided to try their catfish sandwich with some fries. Good fish sandwiches are rare in landlocked cities. Great fish sandwiches are even more rare. You can order it however you desire. I elected for lettuce and ketchup only. No tartar and no cheese if you know what I mean. It was great! And of course the fries were crinkle style. Just what you would expect from Indy's oldest drive-in of 60 plus years. They do have a dine-in option from what looks to be a house next door with a big neon sign on top of it announcing "Dine-In" which opened in 2009. This is my 400th review.

Yelp
We stopped on our way to Tennessee and the location was perfect for us the get off and back on the expressway. But the food is what's all about! We saw this establishment on Man vs Food and we had to try it. They still have car hops and they will take your order, but you have to have your headlights on to let them know when you're ready. Your food is brought to you on trays that attach to your window. Really nostalgic. My wife had the standard Pork Tenderloin sandwich and I had the grilled. Both sandwiches were delicious, but the surprise were the Onion Rings and Root Beet. The rings were gigantic and had a tasty batter. The mug of Root Beer was creamy and not overly sweet. The sandwiches were excellent and these rings and root beer puts it over the top.
google avatar

Abigia J.

Yelp
This place is historic and has a unique atmosphere about it. The food is just okay, not great by any stretch. I really think they'd do well to abbreviate their rather large menu and focus on the quality of just a few items.
google avatar

Rachael J.

Yelp
Love it! I dropped in this place for a quick lunch after getting stabbed (vaccine woo!) at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway. I've heard about it prior so I knew it was in the area and it was only a few miles away. A classic drive in, or what I would assume is classic since I'm not old enough to actually know. You drive up & they come to your car to take your order. A menu filled with burgers, fries, shakes, hot dogs etc. Once your order is ready they bring it out to you on a tray that hangs on your open window. If you need anything at all, just turn on your headlights. Very efficient. I'm all about "diner burgers" these days so I tried the double cheeseburger. Freakin delish and comes with a slice of bread in-between (kind of like big mac style). The Mug N Bug Special burger was also great- 1 patty but comes with bacon and is on toasted bread vs a bun. The seasoned crinkle fries were great. The onion rings a bit soggy. Root Beer was sweet and on point. A fun place to adventure to for a different kind of dining!

Yelp
Fun little drive up to visit. I haven't been in a few years, but every time I drive by it brings back nostalgia!

Yelp
This place was yummy. I've heard of this place back in 2018 and haven't had the chance to visit until yesterday. You sit at a table, hit the buzzer, and order your food. Everything we had was delicious. The homemade root beer is amazing. Not to mention the ice they serve (the best). Hoping that we can visit again soon to try out more on the menu!

Yelp
Are all of the positive reviews from people who were alive during the Vietnam war? Ordered a couple of shakes and a bunch of different stuff off the menu as it was our first time. I thought i was getting a rib (the menu did not say it was a sandwich) but what i got was pressed sawdust that looked even worse than a McRib. It was a simulation of meat. Like if you described what a meat patty should look like to an alien who had never seen one before. Poorly. A tiny bite was all i needed to know I'd never eat here again but i'm a glutton for punishment so i had to try the rest. The onion rings were the "best" thing we got, a greasy 3/10. The cheese curds were insanely sharp. Not like cheddar sharp. Sharp like, rancid sharp. The fries were awful as well. Everything there is random stuff you can throw in a fryer and im sure the oil hasnt been changed in 20 years. The shake was ok? The flavor was barely there. I felt ill for two days after eating here and i've normally got an iron stomach. Worst $45 I've ever spent.

Yelp
Our Sunday afternoon experience was rather short and sweet and so will be this review. Believe it or not, this was my first visit to the Mug n Bun. I've had it bookmarked since I first moved to Indy in 2010 and apparently COVID and rolling through Speedway were just the push I needed...I should add that I was also craving onion rings for some odd reason. Diners can easily pull in their car and turn their lights on to show that they're ready to order. Our friendly waitress quickly came over and took our simple order and returned around ten minutes later with onion rings. Overall, a straightforward greasy spoon/nostalgic drive in experience. The only part that turned us off a bit was the low public health score rating. It didn't stop us but it did give us pause. Note that if you're wanting to get out of your car, they have an impressive number of outdoor patio dining spots available as well.

Virginia F.

Yelp
We went back down the day after the race. I had not been there since high school. The root beer was excellent as always! The tenderloin was more of a fritter and fairly tasteless. We had sweet potato fries. They may have been good if they were not cold and undercooked. It was very disappointing.
google avatar

Maureen B.

Yelp
Picking up my daughter from work so got a cheeseburger while I waited. I got my burger with lettuce, tomato and onion. It's been a long while since I visited so I assumed the burger would have mayonnaise on it. I'm glad I got my burger without any condiments because it didn't need it. The burger had a perfect amount of seasoning and was juicy not dry.
google avatar

Yelp
Always so good! Something about a classic hotdog stand really hits home. I always enjoy the fun outside seating with large tables to fit a party of any size. If you're not a root beer fan, get the Vanilla Pepsi! All the waitresses are so nice and helpful so make sure you bring cash or have your Venmo ready as that is the only way to tip! You can pay with card, just the tipping is cash/Venmo.
google avatar

Yelp
Grew up on the west side of Indy so as I was driving through heading home to Chicago I wanted to stop. Food is as amazing as it has always been. Best root beer ever! My biggest complaint and this falls on management is you need to be able to add tip to the credit card receipt. I understand the extra charge it causes the restaurant just tack it on the food. You need to make sure you take care of your servers. And this shouldn't make the customers feel bad since they don't have cash!

Yelp
I had heard great things about this place, particularly from folks who had grown up eating here and it must be nostalgic for them. I took the family one afternoon and was excited to see what the hype was about. One the menus posted on the building, there's no pricing, but a waitress came out and gave us a paper copy with prices. When ready to order, you turn your headlights on. We got a variety of items and the kids got kids meals because the waitress said the sandwiches were the same size. The drinks came first and the sizes are SMALL. The "giant" soda is the size of a medium anywhere else. The kids drink is about to slurps. Refills are not free - kids refills are $.40 and giant refills are $.80. My chocolate PB malt was really bland - it tasted like a plain vanilla shake. They also have Pepsi products and are known for their root beer, which I hear is amazing, if you're into root beer. It wasn't very busy so our food came out quickly after. I was not impressed with anything. A little bit of seasoning would have gone a LONG way. The burger had a moist bun which was a bit soggy (if you want toppings, like tomato, they are $.60+). The seasoned fries were pretty good but only about 1/3 of the fries had the seasoning and the rest didn't even have salt. I was happy to see him they had corn nuggets but again, little to no flavor. The double cheeseburger my husband got had a slice of bread in the middle, which I had never seen before. Pricing is good so you can sample a variety of items and not break the bank. You can pay with a card but tips are cash, Venmo, or CashApp. If you don't want to make a mess in your car, there's a dine-in building in the parking lot (it's easy to miss so look for the white building). Overall, a cute place but not a foodie's dream restaurant by any means.

Yelp
An old school drive-in worthy of long lasting praise. Not much to say here. The homemade root beer is delicious. You're Michael Macdonald if you don't believe. Everything else is cooked to drive-in perfection. It kinda' makes you feel like your at the greatest baseball park stand ever. That is all.

Yelp
Look, the tenderloin sandwich just isn't my jam. The actual quality of the sandwich from Mug n Bun looks GREAT. The service at Mug n Bun was GREAT. The crinkle cut fries and root beer are DELICIOUS. But the tenderloin itself is just not tasty to me. I don't want to knock off too many stars because this is a personal preference, not a quality or service issue. The tenderloin sandwich itself was HUGE. I liked the roll it came on. The lettuce I ordered on it was crispy, the mayo fresh. I just didn't care for the taste of a fried pork tenderloin patty. I won't elaborate on what I thought it tasted like though lol. If I'm ever back out in this area I will definitely give Mug n Bun another try, but this time I'll get the burger.

Yelp
Love this place. The root beer is superb. I will always stop in when heading to the TIBBS. Please stay as you are. Such great food and memories.

Yelp
Excellent old style drive inn!!!! Everything is so good, so try it all!! Yummy yummy!

Yelp
Nostalgic. Like stepping back in time in the best kind of way! It is a real deal drive- in : you can order and eat right in your car. We chose to take advantage of the picnic table seating area instead and avoid the crumbs in the car scenario. Picnic tables are under a shelter or out in the sun. Menus are on the table and when you are ready you simply push a button on the table to "call for service". Once we did a server came over and took our whole order - drinks and food. Had to try the housemade root beer -- so good. It comes in 16oz 24oz or 32oz... always go 32oz or you will regret it! We decided to get a variety: chicken tenders, fried pickles, mini corndogs, fried mushrooms, fries and a burger.. all in all very good. A few things we noticed that make this a drive-in and not just a standard restaurant. Drinks and food come out all together- Just know you won't have a drink to sip on while you wait. Also, you can only tip in cash - you can pay on your credit card but no way to tip on the card- make sure you bring some cash. Also, no drink refills - you order the size you want. (At least as far as I could see no refills were being requested) Overall mug n bun is A great place to check!

Yelp
This place used to be good it has went downhill I have given it several chances also among other restaurants. It has come to the point with most restaurants you either need to go to a sit-down restaurant or just cook at home and stop wasting money the people don't care and they do not care about the food. The girls only make cash tips and they need new cooks. Every time we have been lately the food is wrong, terrible, or both.

Yelp
Great local dive! Very good prices and some of the tastiest root beer I've ever had. If you're trying to decide between the burger and hot dog, go burger. If you're looking for dessert, the root beer shake is the way to go. It's uniquely wonderful

Yelp
I was excited to find this place online and took my son here for some Father/son time. I wanted to like the Mug n Bun. I really didn't like the food. I got the tenderloin, which is what Mug n Bun is the most popular item. It was gross. You have to order sides separately, which are pricey. The service was slow. The only positives are large portion sizes (if you enjoy the food) and outdoor seating (if the weather is nice). Or you can be served in your car.

Yelp
The food here is great and there's not any comparable options around the Indianapolis area. They recently raised their prices seemingly above the market of anything they offer... $5.80 for a full BLT sandwich but $6+ for mozzarella sticks that are no bigger than my pointer fingers that didn't taste well at all Maybe the economy forced them to raise their prices and that isn't their fault - that is unfortunate

Yelp
Oh the old Mug n Bun...Indy's oldest and finest drive in! The root beer is the obvious choice of beverage and I like it that they also have diet root beer which is almost as good and there's something to be said about hanging that tray up on your window and waiting anxiously for your food to be passed back from dad in the front seat. Now, I'm the one passing the food back to my own kids. The prices still seem very fair to me and a pretty good value. Kids meals are priced right. I always stick to the basics with a loaded single cheeseburger and a side of onion rings. I end up hating myself most of the time because a regular order of rings is more than enough to share with someone else....but I never do! I eat the whole thing, minus one or two which I trade for a french fry or a bite of coney dog and then kind of sit there in the car sweating on the hottest day of the year wishing I hadn't eaten all that fried goodness. It's on the same level as gorging at the Indiana state fair. I'd roll up the window and blast some of that sweet AC but that big tray is sitting there...so I sit and sweat with my regrets. Try the dine in section! The tenderloin is not really my favorite so I never get it. The service has always been good and just know that you have to tip in cash! I forgot that and was left unable to tip my server who more than deserved the gratuity. Bring a little cash with you!

Yelp
Been waiting to try this place for years. Sadly, we were disappointed . Service: I'd give the gals 5 stars (thus the reason for my 2 stars) they were very attentive, brought us what we asked for in a timely manner. Food: - cheeseburgers were horrible. The meat just didn't taste like meat. When you order a cheese burger that's all you get. A bun, meat patty and cheese) if you want ketchup, mustard, mayo you've got to know to ask for it. Lettuce, onion, tomato are extra. We ended up not finishing the burgers! - chili cheese dog was just ok. Again we did not finish it. - fries were very good. Crinkle fries and they came out nice and hot! We ate all the fries! Ok, I probably ate most of them. - Onion rings, we ordered a small and there were a lot of them! They were greasy but in a strange way good. - Root beer; they are known for their root beer so of course we had to try it and I'm glad we did. It was delicious.. We wouldn't come back to eat here but may come back to try a root beer float.

Yelp
You know a restaurant is going to be good when it is buzzing with locals! The burgers and tenderloin were quite large in their portions size, and were solid. Nothing overly special, but a classic diner taste. My three favorite recommendations would be the root beer, the vanilla malt, and the corn nuggets. All three were nothing less than stellar. I would highly recommend stopping by at least once and trying this local drive-in.
