‘Top Chef’ Season 16, Episode 11: ‘The Greatest’ Recap | Eater

"The center dedicated to the famed boxer hosted a charity gala where chefs had to craft dishes inspired by his greatest fights; his daughter served as a guest judge and chefs presented courses tied to specific bouts. Judges singled out a salmon plated with Kentucky "thunder and lightning" and especially praised a chef’s Ghanaian fufu dumplings with Congolese red sauce as the winning, emotionally meaningful dish, while critiques focused on weak thematic links, reliance on bottle sauces, and lack of wow factor for some plates—one chef was eliminated after the service." - Greg Morabito

This a such a great experience. They've done a great job honoring Mr. Ali's athletic and humanitarian legacy. Five floors of phenomenal exhibits. I love that they have you start at the top floor and work your way down. There are also beautiful murals on the center building and surrounding buildings. A must see if you're in or near Louisville.

Google
What an inspirational place to visit. You can spend a lot of time here and be very inspired by such a young man at a time when the world was not so nice. You'll get emotional learning so much about Muhammad Ali life and all his struggles and how he still continued to carry his head high.

Google
This place was amazing. The set up was awesome. My favorite thing was a full size boxing ring with a show being played in the middle of it. You see a amazing man in such a complicated time in our country's past. I would so highly recommend

Visiting the Muhammad Ali Center was a powerful and unforgettable experience. The exhibits are beautifully done — not just showcasing Ali's legendary boxing career, but also his values, activism, and global impact. One of the most moving moments was seeing the Olympic torch he carried, it gave me chills. The interactive displays and personal artifacts really bring his story to life, and the top floor view overlooking the river is stunning. It’s more than a museum, it’s a place that challenges you to think bigger, stand firm in your beliefs, and strive to be your best. Truly inspiring and a must-visit in Louisville.

Google
What a beautiful place to honor his life. There’s so much to see and the staff was very helpful. There’s 1R button on the elevator takes you to his Rolls Royce. I hope this place stays open for many years to come!

Great place to bring the kids and family of all ages to see some great exhibits and history of a legendary icon Muhammad Ali also know as Cassius Clay junior. I definitely enjoyed my time on the tour at this nice facility.

Google
I thoroughly enjoyed my time visiting The Muhammad Ali Museum. The museum is very in-depth into Mr. Muhammad Ali's life and how his life impacted the whole world. Highly recommend this museum to be on everybody's list on museums/places to see.

The Muhammad Ali Center is an iconic place worth visiting, especially if you're in downtown Louisville, KY. The general ticket price is $20, but students can get a discount and enter for just $15 by showing a valid student ID. While the center isn't very large, spending about 1 to 1.5 hours is usually enough to explore everything comfortably. The visit starts from the top floor and gradually works its way down to the ground floor, guiding you through the inspiring life and legacy of Muhammad Ali. It's a well-curated experience that tells a powerful story, leaving a lasting impression. There's also a nice souvenir shop located on the ground floor, right where you get the tickets. They have a good collection of memorabilia including T-shirts, mugs, fridge magnets, and more. One of the best parts is the location — it's situated near the Ohio River bank, offering a lovely view that adds to the overall experience. Overall, the Muhammad Ali Center is a meaningful and memorable stop, whether you're a boxing fan or simply appreciate inspiring stories.

Yelp
In town on business with an open Saturday afternoon visited on recommendation from hotel Very interesting and a lot was learned about what Mohammad Ali stood for besides being known as a world champion boxer Self guided tour

Yelp
The building is stunning, and the staff were immediately helpful and friendly. The walls are adorned with interesting facts about Ali--his life, career, humanitarian work, and civil rights advocacy--telling a powerful story. For me and my friend, the amount of writing everywhere in different font sizes was a little overwhelming and we found ourselves starting and stopping a lot, not exactly feeling a flow from one section to another. But signs pointed us toward the orientation theater which has a lobby area with a wall-to-ceiling view of the Ohio River. A staff member pointed out that Muhammad Ali famously threw his Olympic gold medal into the river in protest of racism--the kind of story that really sticks with you for a second as you stand viewing that same spot in a monolith of a building dedicated to the same man. The orientation film was excellent and genuinely moving. Throughout the museum, there are different areas to sit and watch some of his most iconic fights, plus interactive boxing ring spaces. Families seemed to really enjoy those areas, and it was sweet to watch the kids playing and the parents having a second to breathe. We also came across the prayer room, which I sat peacefully in for several minutes. Before we left, the same helpful staff member let us know we could go downstairs to see Ali's Rolls-Royce, which was a cool surprise. One of my favorite parts was the gift shop. It had carefully curated books, photos and art, many from local and Black-owned creators. Really appreciated the effort to showcase meaningful and authentic pieces rather than just the usual tourist merch. Overall, absolutely worth the ticket price. If I had kids, I could easily spend half a day or more here. Some areas could maybe get a little modern face-lift, but overall--a must-visit that really impacted me. So glad I went and got to learn even more about this absolute hero and legend.

Yelp
Until my trip to Louisville in 2021, I had no idea that Muhammad Ali was born in Louisville (I don't follow boxing, or any sport for that matter, so not once had I ever thought about where he was from). Once I found out, the airport name made sense! We spent about two hours in the museum. The museum was very nice and informative, but I am just not interested in boxing, so I personally didn't find the museum all that interesting, but I could appreciate it. I'm surprised they managed to fill an entire museum about just one person! But what I did really enjoy was a photo exhibit called "Shining a Light: Women and Prison". The photo exhibit was of marginalized women from around the world who were imprisoned (unjustly) in horrible conditions. Adult admission was $18, but as I still had a valid student ID, I was able to get the student price of $10! Yelp
This. Place. Is. AWESOME. Well worth the $20 entrance fee. I came in about two hours before closing, and it wasn't enough time. Luckily, for me, it had mostly cleared out as I was coming in, and I practically had the place to myself. I am a boxing fan, so I can not tell you how enjoyable it would be to someone unfamiliar with the Thrilla in Manila, but it covered so much more than just his boxing legacy. They also do not shy away from some of the more controversial aspects of his life. There were lots of testimonials about his philanthropy work, that show through it all, he was a kind hearted and giving person. And a behemoth in the ring. There are a lot of interactive areas of the museum and places where you can watch the entirety of some of his most famous fights. This was my favorite thing from my trip to Louisville.

Yelp
One thing about Louisville, KY is that they know how to celebrate their homegrown legends. If you don't pass the likeness of the iconic boxing athlete on a mural or see his name adorned on a main throughway in the city, you definitely are living under a rock. The epitome for every boxing fan is to visit the Muhammad Ali Center which is the museum of Ali's life from childhood to his humanitarian initiatives. I was surprised to learn that he would donate a portion of his winnings to a local charity that aligned with his beliefs

Yelp
Amazing experience filled with memorabilia, history, and the story of Muhammad Ali's life and legacy. If you're in Louisville, this is definitely a must do experience. It's five floors of amazing exhibits with short videos and boxing themed activities along the way. Awesome place!!

Yelp
Came to Louisville to hit the Bourbon Trail, but no visit to Louisville would be complete without visiting the Muhammed Ali Center. I was surprised at how big and beautiful this building and the exhibits were. You will leave here having learned something new about Ali, his beliefs, and his activism. There is a lot to see so make sure and plan accordingly. You can easily spend 2-3 hours engulfed in the exhibits.

Yelp
I cannot say enough good things. What a great museum that perfectly reflects the man it honors. Watch the movies, read the placards just a great way to pass an hour or two.

Yelp
Enjoyed the experience of knowing more about this very confident and courageous heavy weight boxer. Born as Cassius Clay in the 1940s, sometime in 1960s he converted to Islam as he felt that religion spoke to him. The frustration he felt about racism and the courage with which he voiced his opinions against it is very evident in his statements. Nicknamed the greatest, it seemed nothing can shatter his courage or confidence. The defiance he showed towards Vietnam War, in fact he said he won't be part of another war by the White against poor colored people, stripped him off his boxing titles. He was firm on his decision though, and ultimately super court ruled in his favor and he was back, in his profession that seemed to define his life. There is a clipping of Martin Luther King saying you gotta admire his courage. His life was not all about boxing though, his spiritual journey becomes apparent. And his humanitarian and charity work is highlighted. The movie showing clips of his life is great, almost brings tears to your eyes in those final months when he had evident Parkinson's. 'Do not do to another what is disagreeable to yourself: this is the summary law': from Mahabharata 'He who finds peace and joy and radiance within himself - that man becomes one with God and vanishes into God's bliss': Bhagavad Gita

Yelp
The Ali center is big, unique, and an awesome museum built for the greatest. If haven't been? There put it on your list to do. My family flew in for my college graduation and we spent time here. It is a historical/inspiring place that is needed now more than ever. You will learn his philosophy and get in the boxing ring and feel like a champ. His words will stay with you. Ali a Louisville native that became bigger than life. Kids can follow a positive role model that changed the world. Us older people will remember the magic all over again.

Yelp
One of my favorite things I have always enjoyed especially since I was a child has been learning and most of all, learning about our nation's history. Museums and the like have always been places of enjoyment for me because no matter how many different occasions I go to one I am always learning something new or different from my previous experience. The Muhammad Ali Center is without a doubt one of those places and even though I've only been once, I know that there will always be something new to learn and discover about the life of the local famous professional boxer and philanthropist, Muhammad Ali. The Muhammad Ali Center is right off the banks of the Ohio River and the view of the river itself is where you will start your journey which is what makes this place so special and unique from many other museums and such that I've been to. Instead of starting from the first floor, you'll be taken up an elevator and start from the 5th floor as you make your way to a very beautiful window that overlooks the Ohio River while waiting for a short 15 minute introduction to the life of Ali inside of a very nice sized theater. After this video is over, you'll start to go through the various exhibits the Ali Center has to offer, each telling various stories of Ali's life. One of my favorite parts of the Center is on the 5th floor which happens to be a timeline of Ali's life presented via a massive circular room filled with various possessions of Ali from the robe and trunks he wore in the matches he fought in as well as tickets and programs from these very same matches. This I found to be one of the most informative rooms in the entire Center as it gives you some really great information to learn about Ali's life. The third floor features a boxing ring that, when looking down from the 4th floor, allows you to watch a really informative mini-documentary about some of the matches Ali took part in and displayed all from within the middle of this ring. Among the various exhibits you'll no doubt come learning about the hardships Muhammad Ali faced from being a Muslim to fighting as a black athlete during an era of discrimination and much more about the world of boxing and the history of sports at the time as well. I absolutely recommend checking out the Muhammad Ali Center for anyone that is a fan of history, boxing, sports and especially Ali himself.

Yelp
What a great museum dedicated to the great Muhammad Ali. We spent about an hour and a half walking through the various exhibits starting with his childhood and early years, and finishing with his later years. They have a great deal of memorabilia and can't believe there's so much about his life that you wouldn't know unless you've read/studied his life. There's also a short film available for viewing and a section playing some of his most notable fights. If you have time and find yourself in Louisville, I highly recommend visiting the Muhammad Ali Center.

Yelp
While we've visited the Ali center a few times, we recently attended a wedding at the Center, so we were interested in seeing weddings were handled. It was a Saturday evening event, so it took place after hours. This review is targeted toward the Special Events/Catering aspect of the Ali Center. The Special Events area is located on the 6th floor and has a great view of the Ohio River (and, of course, I-64 in all is high-speed glory).. The wedding itself took place in a small sectioned-off are of what is a pretty sizable Special Events area. The area was nicely set up with rows of seats on either side of the central aisle (typical wedding setup). The chairs were surprisingly light and comfortable, as event chairs go. After the wedding we were released from the wedding area to visit the museum while they set up for the reception. The Center is eerily quiet after hours, but at the same time it's cool because you're not battling crowds of people to see exhibits. About 30 minutes later we were allowed back in to the now-expanded Special Events area with a dance floor, buffet line, and dozens of tables that were nicely decorated for the wedding. It was actually sort of breathtaking to view the room when you first walk in. The catering staff (I assume) did a fantastic job of converting from the wedding setup to the reception setup. There were A LOT of chairs that needed to be moved. The place settings (8 per table) were elegantly set up with chargers, plates, silverware and napkins all perfectly placed. During some of the typical wedding formalities the catering staff brought around small appetizers, all of which were very tasty. I do recall a mini -- no, I'll call it a micro-Hot Brown that captured the essence of a Hot Brown in a small petit four cup. The staff, dressed in black and wearing black latex gloves, hustled around the seating area offering the appetizers and refilling water glasses, but not intrusively. When it was time for the meal the DJ made announcements and would call up tables by number. A buffet line was set up for both sides of the table and it smelled fantastic. There was a salad, pork tenderloin, green beans, broccoli, chicken, potatoes, and rolls (as I recall) that all looked very appetizing. The presentation was great and you could tell the food was recently prepared, unlike some catered events where food has been sitting in a warmer for hours. There were a couple bars that served some beers, a number of wines, and some mixed drinks. The bar tenders were nice and very busy, but didn't try to hurry anyone up when trying to decide what to drink. As the evening went on the catering staff was constantly in motion. Whether it refilling water or taking care of dirty or unused dishes on tables, they were doing a great job of keeping things tidy. The wedding we attended was great, but I have to give VERY high marks to the catering staff (cooks and bartenders included) at the Ali Center. OUTSTANDING in every way.

Yelp
Beautiful setup and tribute to the GOAT. I was out here on business for the week for a conference and as things wound down on the final days, i decided to take a trip around town and visit the sites. The museum is walking distance from Downtown Louisville, which is where I was staying. Took about 10 minutes to get there, which wasn't bad at all...I guess you have to consider the weather tho, and it poured a couple nights before...but Ubers are not hard to come by in Louisville. I didn't realize I want to spend so much time here...Muhammad Ali's history is just so rich and fascinating. Tickets were $15 if I can recall correctly. But definitely worth it. Staff was super helpful and welcomed us as we came in. You can watch full fight footage, that alone makes it worth the admission fee Great items at the gift shop. There are some cool interactive exhibits, but there was one...I think it was called the Poster pledge, that was broken but would've been awesome if it worked. You can send messages to future visitors and share part of your own story.

Yelp
We came here while going to see family, this place is super cool and gives you an in-depth view of Mohammad Ali's life, there were many different murals and quotes, my favorite being: "I hit Jim Crow so hard he started seeing colors." It's very child friendly and clean. Super fun, make sure to stop by!

Yelp
This review is strictly about their event, space, and the catering company that handled the event we were at. We recently were there in February 2024 for a wedding up on the sixth floor. The elevators took us up swiftly, and we were greeted by excellent staff, hand out drinks, and then led to the room with the reception was overlooking the river. The room size was perfect for a medium size wedding, around 200 people. After the wedding, the room right next to us was set up as a reception hall, which was decorated beautifully, had ample space, and even had a large live band playing. The staff were very friendly. The facility was clean parking was readily available, and it met all of our expectations for an event.

Yelp
I very ignorantly have been dismissive of the Muhammad Ali Center the entire time I've lived within as close of a proximity as I do. I kind of thought "yeah okay a local boxer, activist, he was pretty good at it, is a whole multi-story museum really warranted?" Yes, yes it is. I took advantage of the free admission during Ali Fest, while I happened to be up in the area, driving up from Elizabethtown. While it was bursting at the seams with how crowded it was, I had such a wonderful experience. It brought me so much joy seeing so many children with their families learning about such an inspiring figure. Muhammad Ali is such a wonderful example of how a person can grow into themselves and make a difference in the lives of so many others, even posthumously to this day. This is a must-stop when in Louisville. Even if you're not a big boxing fan, the Ali Center is absolutely worthwhile.

Yelp
I loved the art here! I loved learning more about Muhammad Ali and his life/struggles. I loved seeing him in the context of the civil rights movement. I think that this is very well put together, and definitely recommend to anyone who might find themselves in Louisville. It is important to remember where we have been, so that we do not go back that way...

Yelp
I am embarrassed to say that I have lived in Louisville for 6 years and only recently got around to visiting the Muhammad Ali Center. What a gem! I was afraid that not being boxing fan , I would not enjoy the museum. Nothing could have been further from the truth, I was actually humbled by his life outside of the boxing ring. The museum has 5 floors and highlights Ali's grit, determination, focus, and convention to become a boxer, and what many (including myself!) do not realize, his humanitarian efforts outside the ring. All portions of his life, including those that received negative publicity, are highlighted as contributing to his personal growth. Much attention is given to Ali's 6 core principles: confidence, conviction, dedication, respect, giving and spirituality, with a pavilion dedicated to each principle. Displays include video content from his life as well as written description. It was humbling to witness the lens of segregation through which Ali viewed and experienced the world, despite his fame as a boxing champion. There is a regulation size boxing ring that encourages participation in learning basic boxing moves. There is a shadow boxing area where visitors can practice their moves with Ali, as well as a punching bag for practice. On the fourth floor 15 of Ali's famous fights can be viewed on screens. Visitors should allow at least 2-3 hours depending on how much they wish to watch or read. The tour begins on the 5th floor with a short film (highly recommend!) containing highlights from his life that include how he became interested in boxing, his career, changes in his name and religion, and more. From there you proceed at your leisure through the rest of the museum. Seating is available throughout the museum, for both rest and reflection. During our visit, the second floor had a temporary exhibit (through August 2022) entitled "Shining a Light - Women and the Weight of Water." This exhibit focuses on how the global scarcity of water disproportionately affects women in society who have typically been responsible for collecting water, preparing food, sanitation, and maintaining clean living conditions. Attention is given to women's marginalization and the lack of time for education due to the time required for gathering water. This exhibit was also humbling and should be seen by everyone! We take clean water for granted every day in our country! I highly encourage everyone to visit the museum, even if not a boxing fan. There is so much to learn, not only about Mr. Ali, but about oneself.

Yelp
I was so excited to Tour the Ali Center on my visit to Louisville! This was such a great experience. It takes you through his entire life leading up to and including his boxing career and gives you back story on how Ali became the greatest. The exhibits are awesome and they allow pictures and except in one room and the work in their is amazing and very thought provoking. Anyone that is a fan of Ali or of History will enjoy a tour here. Until next review Kisses

Yelp
Nothing bad to say about the facility. Staff was helpful and informative. Museum is comprehensive, interactive and fascinating. Covers all aspects of Ali's life. Interesting for people of all ages. Thoroughly enjoyed the women in prison photography exhibit. Bathrooms on each level of the facility. Gift shop with a variety of overpriced items. Overall, the museum is well worth a vice. Allow at least two hours. I'd return when back in the area.

Yelp
We paid admission and walked to the elevator, starting at the fifth floor. We began with a short video presenting an overview of Ali's life. Adults admission was $14 and prices are reduced for seniors, students and children. A concierge took our jackets, bags and umbrellas The Ali Center portrayed him as so much more than the champion boxer of the world. We saw Cassius Clay as a child, athlete, religious man, political figure, humanitarian.... We saw posters, newspaper articles, video clips & audio tapes of Ali's voice. There were photos on the ceiling & floor as we walked through the exhibits. His spiritual journey was even projected above us. We were able to go into the ring with him & enjoy many interactive exhibits. The Museum captivated young children & seniors, there were whites, blacks, Asia's .... The library is opened by appointment only and we ended in a large beautiful gift shop. This is a very inspirational, thought provoking & entertaining museum.

Yelp
Beautifully designed and well thought out tribute to such an ordinary human being and philanthropist. This museum not only showcased his career success, but shows the heart and courage of Muhammad Ali. Each exhibits takes you on a journey through the lens of his life. From the top floor to the bottom level, the museum captures your attention and appreciation for who he was and his legacy. In addition, I appreciate the call to action video gallery that challenges the visitor on what change they would make for the future. I unfortunately had only 2 hours and wished I had more time. This is an all day exhibit and I would recommend up to 4 hours for full reading and participation. It's been a week since my visit and I'm still telling people how awesome it was!

Yelp
Professional staff. Awesome exhibits! The video monitors and interactive displays are great. This Venue offers history mixed with entertainment that represents Ali well.

Yelp
This was our first encounter with the Muhamed Ali center. It was a nice fun trip my two daughters and I went this afternoon to escape the hot blazing summer sun. We went in with our cultural passes that we got from the library so we had free admission which made it even better. The cool thing was a hit a lot of Muhammad Ali's life I'm from Louisville he's from Louisville so it's kind of cool that somebody that popular is in your own city. But the center in South Carolina cool art and a lot of interactive things for my daughters to play so we enjoyed overall

Yelp
An opportunity I've been wanting for so long ! The museum is a multicultural center dedicated to the life and legacy of Muhammad Ali. It's a gem in the heart of Ali's hometown. With a spectacular view on the south bank of Ohio River, this unique design with its six floor levels stands tall. My visit to the M A. center was not just an experience or some stuff that I hadn't known before, but it was a wonderful journey into the heart of a champion's journey of life. The walk through the wings and aisles that contain the exhibits and galleries invite you to explore Muhammad Ali's legendary life and his six core principles. Seeing all pictures, watching all videos , reading press articles and listening to the hero's strong controversial speeches and interviews over the surrounding speakers , really take you back in time and demonstrate how legendry and glorious figure Mohammed Ali is. The visit may take from 3 hours if your are rushing and up to 5 hours for a thorough visit. This place is a real precious legacy for generations to come.

Yelp
Moving and unflinching overview of The Greatest. If you are looking for a party, go elsewhere or at least show some respect when you are there. This is a place to contemplate civil rights, the arc of a life lived in the public spotlight, and the human spirit. Floats like a butterfly, stings like a bee.

Yelp
I love the Ali Center! It is one of my favorite museums and a great place to go in Louisville. If you don't know much about Muhammad Ali, this is the place to go to learn. If you already knows facts about Ali, this is a place to go bask in his glory. Both inside and outside the ring he was legendary and the museum highlights that. It is well laid out and has lots of info. I'd say it's good for all ages though it's probably a little better for kids that can read. I love learning about his humanitarian efforts and the Center encourages those types of works in their visitors as well. A great way to spend a few hours when visiting Louisville.

Yelp
You need about 4 hours to really see it all enjoy it read everything. When you leave you will know more about him and what he stood for and it was way more than just boxing. This was a man that in the '60s and '70s a lot of people hated but decades before he passed everyone loved all over the world It's amazing You must go see where he got his motivation how he developed his dedication to things that he wanted in his mind Why he thought the way he thought why he did what he did to great museum.

Yelp
Exploring the life of Muhammad Ali is a fulfilling way to spend a few hours while hanging out in downtown Louisville. Being that Ali is from Louisville and considered one of the best boxers of all time, of course he would have an entire museum in his dedication. I will say...I enjoyed my time learning about Muhammad Ali, though I can see this place not being suitable for kids. I can envision young children getting bored easily and not yet ready to appreciate who this icon was all about. When I visited, the museum wasn't crowded and I was able to navigate through it on my own terms. Tickets are $14 for adults and $9 for children aged 6-12. I spent about 2 hours here learning about Ali the boxer, his rise to fame and him ultimately becoming a good-will ambassador to the world. Some interesting takeaways and moments from my stroll through the Center included.... some of Ali's amazing quotes and drawings he created as a young boxer, his incredible fights with his rivals and successful boxing statistics, Ali's refusal to enter the war draft, his larger than life personality, and finally his fame and stardom that he used philanthropically for good deeds, donating millions to charitable organizations for disadvantaged people. A couple other of my favorite highlights from the museum were.... an area to shadow box with Ali, his first ever boxing contract framed and notarized, and plenty of highlights from his fights against his rival Joe Frazier and The Rumble in the Jungle fight against George Foreman. Also, there's an area explaining Ali's faith in the Islamic religion, his decision to change his name from Cassius Clay to Muhammad Ali and his active life as a Muslim. Overall, I was humbled by my visit to the Muhammed Ali Center. There's so much to learn and understand about one of the most larger than life public figures ever. Besides being known for boxing, he contributed so much more to the betterment of the world. Walking through the museum is a highly worthwhile way to spend a portion of the day for anyone visiting Louisville.

Yelp
Muhammad Ali Center is a must see in Louisville! There was a lot I didn't know about him and it was very interactive. There was a full boxing ring in the museum and I think there were 7 floors of awesomeness!! You do need some time here; there is too much to see. Muhammad Ali Center, you done good.

Yelp
A tribute to the career and life of the Muhammad Ali, the exhibits take you through his journey as a young Cassius Clay, to Golden Gloves Championships, Olympic Stardom and eventually the Heavyweight Championship of the World. They immerse you into his heart regarding racial justice, removing what many believed to be a braggadocios façade to reveal the true man. Having grown up watching him, the first time I remember seeing him fight was his comeback fight with Jerry Quarry on October 26, 1970. I remember the buzz in the African American community and the excitement around him coming back. The museum brought back those fond memories. What the exhibits did well was reveal who the man was, strengths, weaknesses and flaws. One example was how they owned up to the rumors of his womanizing, his multiple marriages, and his patriarchal early on in his conversion to the Nation of Islam. It was refreshing to see that they did not shy away from it but embraced it as part of his personal journey, one that defined him early on but that he eventually shed. You see the man, the humanitarian, the civil rights activist and the protestor for peace. It was nothing short of inspiring. I highly recommend going to see it.

Yelp
The Muhammad Ali Center is awesome! If you haven't been, I highly recommend going to check it out. It's especially great for kids, as are many museums; but we went as childless adults, with a couple of adult friends, and we had a blast exploring this massive space! There are three levels of the museum to check out! The space is actually six levels total, but some of those are private event space. I have also been lucky enough to attend a private event here, and the event space is great! It's roomy, the bar and food set-up was awesome and delicious, and I really enjoyed getting the chance to view some art throughout the event, because there are pieces throughout the event space. Within the museum there are so many permanent exhibits, as well as rotating galleries, that even if you've been before it's warrants another visit. I found our visit to be not only really fun, but also very educational. I learned so much about Muhammad Ali that I hadn't previously known. (And, you can chalk it up to me being a huge nerd, but I love learning!) Everyone knows that Ali was a boxer, and most folks known he was also an activist, but the Ali Center really gives you an in depth view into his legendary life, both personally and professionally. There are many interative and multimedia exhibits, which allow you to fully experience the space and get a real feel for Ali's strength and courage. I left our visit feeling inspired by how much Ali did to help others. The Ali Center is great for everyone! I definitely recommend a visit!

Yelp
Museum is put together very well. All of the exhibits are informative and interesting. Bonus at the end....his Rolls Royce is on display. Orientation film is a good synopsis of his life. Some displays are interactive. I went on January 3rd. Crowd was very light. Hidden gem in Louisville. Check it out. You will not be disappointed! $9 admission is cheap in comparison to city attractions.

Yelp
I'm struggling to figure out how to write everything that I wanna say about the Ali center. I guess the first thing I need to say is that I am profoundly grateful that I'm fortunate enough to have been able to visit this extraordinary monument to an extraordinary man. It is rare that I find myself speechless, but that's the case as I write this review. Muhammad Ali has lifted himself from poverty through a time of great segregation and discrimination to become one of the most amazing athletes of our time. He didn't stop there he used his voice and his platform to draw attention to humanitarian efforts and he served his entire life. When you walk through the halls of this monument looking at his achievements and accomplishments you feel warmth and pride and be in awe of the dignity and grace with which Muhammad Ali conducted himself at all times. If you are in the Louisville area you need to go.

Yelp
Dear readers, when visiting Louisville, you must check out the museum of one of the most famous people in the world Mr. Mohammad Ali...it is so well done, and there are a lot of fun things to read about and a lot of hands-on fun. Make sure to start out by watching the short film about him...a lot of people don't realize it is there...it is in the very back of the floor you start on, and then you work your way around...and down...it needs at least an hour if not more to get it all in... there is a lot of interactive fun...make sure to check out the gift shop, so many fun souvenirs to see and buy.

Yelp
Awesome tribute to the greatest boxer of all time. Very educational and interactive exhibits. Convenient location near downtown Louisville makes it a must see in my opinion. Take a trip back in time to see the legacy of Muhammad Ali.

Yelp
Can never go wrong with a museum. The museum was put together nicely. Of course it's full of information. The only thing I would say is I wish they had more memorabilia on display. The Ali Center is a must see.

Yelp
If you are looking for a moment of reflection, a moment to inspire greatness, look no further than the Greatest of All Time, Muhammad Ali. You get to relive his life, how he grew up right here in Louisville, KY, learn more about his parents, his family, and what inspired him to become a boxer. You learn about his boxing career, his transition to Islam, and holding strong to his convictions. One of the most fascinating aspects is when he changed his name to Muhammad Ali and felt like he could finally travel in the world and be free. For my family that came from India, Muhammad Ali was well known and inspiring. He was a man of greatness who had a name similar to theirs and for that reason he was an example of what could be achieved. One of the other touching aspects is watching the clips of Ali lighting the 1996 Olympic cauldron for the opening of the Atlanta Olympics. I get teary just watching the clip over again. For locals, the Ali Center also has a $49 annual membership which allows you to visit the center as many times as you want in a year. Its a great deal. I hope they update the museum to reflect the love and beauty showered on him with his passing. That is still one of the most beautiful moments I recall in recent Louisville history.

Yelp
I really enjoyed my visit to the Muhammad Ali Center in downtown Louisville. I spent a few hours immersing myself in the life of Muhammad Ali, yes he's known for being an outspoken heavyweight boxing champion of the world, but I was enlightened by his selfless spirit of giving back to others all over the world and this center is fitting tribute to his life. There's a lot to explore and discover in the museum, I enjoyed the spiritual aspect of the museum the most, his recipe for life and all of the quotes throughout his lifetime, quotes from spiritual leaders from around the world. And enjoyed the large touchscreen TV, which allowed you to pick years out of his life of where he gave back, received awards, he truly lived his life to the fullest and truly one of the greatest.

Yelp
It's so great to have these gems located in our home state. No extra drive or trip just run downtown to visit this museum. They open at 9:30 on Saturdays, we arrived a little early which allowed us time to walk around and see the river. You cannot take very many pictures here, you will see the disclaimer when you check in to pay. Be careful, they actually have someone watching the cameras throughout to ensure you follow the photography restrictions. Be sure to visit the paying our respect section behind the front counter. This is a wall of visitors to the center and you will find several celebrities that have visited. This was fun even for my 7 year old. You start the tour by traveling up a super high and slow escalator to the top floor. The tour starts with an orientation video. I was so impressed of the theater. It's seating like a movie theater. I encourage you to sit towards the top. The video is not only at front but on both sides. After the video you are welcome to tour the museum on your own. The areas are set up with video options to tell the story as well as lots of story boards and memorabilia. There is a theater section that allows you to watch any of Ali's fights on a small tv. Most of the time you will spend on floors four and five, a little more to view on floor three. Be sure to visit the museum store. You can sign a book to send a note to the Ali family. The museum takes you through the great parts and not so great parts of Ali's life. It's true and real.

Yelp
There is so much to learn. Thank goodness for the preservation of history and great moments. I wasn't expecting this place to be all that it is.

Yelp
Muhammad Ali was such an important, always larger than life, part of my existence, from growing up to adulthood. The Ali center was an incredible experience, and they do such an amazing job of perpetuating this great man's legacy.

Yelp
Really cool museum to visit in the city. I went a few years ago with my dad and sister. It was a weekday so they weren't terribly busy. You could spend a few hours here. There's a lot to read about his life. I really learned a lot. I think it's drawn more tourists now that he has passed away. It's worth a visit. I saw tons of pictures of him and his family, a tiny little boxing ring, and there's also a theater in there. It's truly interesting. I'm glad it's here and honestly, kinda proud that he's from Louisville. He was a controversial guy, but he's human.

Yelp
Came for the first time for the start of Ali Week! The museum had a free event for families. Face painting and magic show just to name a few. Food trucks out front with ice cream and pizza. We were able to tour the entire inside. And my son entered a coloring contest! It was a gorgeous day so it made for a packed house!!

Yelp
This place is a well organized museum that honors the life and legacy of the Greatest Mohammed Ali. They have an attached parking garage that you can park in for a fee. I ended up paying $4 for parking there during my visit. The staff there is very friendly and helpful and you may be able to save a few bucks if you qualify for one of their admission discounts like student, military or AAA. The museum is clean and you start your tour on the 5th floor by watching a wonderful movie. There are a few interactive displays up there, but most of them were out of rider du to COVID. The museum has interactive movies, pictures, quotes, displays and memorabilia on the 4th and 5th floor. There is also a social injustice display on the 4th floor, but photography is prohibited in there. There is Atlanta Olympic torch display, and a movie that plays on the boxing ring on that floor as well. Be on the look out for an interactive photo booth on that floor where you can take a photo pledge. You can then purchase a poster of your pledge down in the gift shop for $5 and you are sent a boomerang photo of the pledge that you took to your email or phone. The 3rd floor mostly consists of art and photographs that focus on voting rights. The second floor is the main floor and is where the ticket counter, gift shop and paintings of Ali are. I spent the majority of my time on the 4th and 5th floors. It is a lot to take in on those floors. They put 10 pounds in a 5 pound bag. Admission and the gift shop are reasonably priced. I enjoyed the museum, but wish the interactive displays were operational. They seemed pretty cool. I also wish they had more photo ops/backdrops. I recommend paying this place a visit if you are in town, but be aware that they are not open everyday and close on days that they are scheduled due to construction or other issues.
