Mujeres Brew Club Barrio Logan Taproom - Eater San Diego

"A community group for Latinas and other women interested in craft beer has found its own dedicated taproom and classroom space. Founded in May 2019, Mujeres Brew Club has been hosting classes and other events on the back patio of Border X Brewing in Barrio Logan. Its move into the former home of the now-closed Alta Brewing Company in the nearby Bread & Salt building will allow the group to continue hosting meetings and kick off new educational programs in a taproom setting." - Mario A. Google
Wonderful, local, low-key spot with fantastic beverage options, snacks, and today for Tacos B4 Vatos, tacos were on hand and on point. I recommend this place and will definitely be back. My favorite was the Hola Sandia Seltzer Shot.

Breana McGowan

Google
Colorful, outdoor, with delicious and cold beer. Was surprising to find such unique flavors that were very enjoyable in this little space tucked away in a neighborhood.

Lovely place in Barrio Logan. Nice to support the ladies who are putting this brew together. Delicious tacos!! Great texture and taste plus they have a vegan menu and they are delicious even for someone who's not vegan. We happen to be there on drink and paint night which looks like a fun get together with friends and family and they had a live DJ playing reggae music while you paint. Definitely check out the place once they fully open. Bartender was cool and poured my drinks to the rim. Love it

Google
Spent a couple of delightful, happy hours here. Tasty beer, friendly and relaxed atmosphere, great music, helpful staff. Loved it and would hang out here often if we didn’t live a thousand miles away.

Google
I went here for a painting party. I like the rim to the drink I got. There is a large outside section. Good to hang out with friends. Some people had their kids too, so I am assuming it’s family friendly as long as you don’t drink too much and still able to care for the kids.

Google
Great variety of well-crafted beers on tap, cocktails, and non-alcoholic cocktails. Friendly staff provides tasters. Large outdoor patio, and a very welcoming vibe! Miguelitos on the patio serves a delicious selection of tacos and more.

George Bonilla

Google
Good place for a nice, cold beer. I'm partial to the lager and blonde. They also have some flavored beers and hard seltzers. The food from Miguel's is good too.

Google
Was in Barrio Logan for an event and stopped in at the Mujeres Brew House next door. What a treat - a nice selection of craft beers, a great beer tender and staff, and with lots of seating. They have events in the back patio, a food vendor in back as well. Love the vibe, will be back!

Yelp
Good beer! It was recommended by someone we met at another brew house while we are visiting SD. Like that it's a woman owned business.

Yelp
Mujeres is a female-owned brewery and a local staple located in the Barrio Logan area serving a variety of beers and drinks and hosting local events. The business also supports different causes, including the Border Angels which looks to reform the rights of migrants. Drink-wise: As noted earlier, Mujeres serves a variety of drinks including different styles of beer, seltzers, and Micheladas. My favorite beers from them lately have been their Japanese lager and the Mexican lager. The IPAs have good flavor and aren't too strong. The Mango Tamarindo Michelada with the chamoy straw was very solid (coming from someone who isn't a strong fan of miches). I haven't had the pleasure of trying the seltzers yet so no review for those. Ambiance-wise: The interior of Mujeres is relatively small with limited seating, but the exterior has a wide space with plenty of seating in the patio or biergarten area. The very notable parts of the ambiance that really stick out are the color palates, decor, and of course the murals all in Barrio Logan fashion. Ask about the story behind the murals when you get the chance. In terms of liveliness, it probably depends on what day or time you go; as there could be a crowd on the weekend or events, or very chill. Service-wise: You order your drinks at the front bar which are poured at order, and you find your seating. The owners and employees here have been excellent and welcoming every time I have come here. I haven't done this yet, but you can buy the servers a shot of I believe one of the seltzers which is always fun to build a customer relationship with the business. In summary: Mujeres is on my list of go-to spots, and I have been a patron of this brewery for years and find it hard not to visit every time I'm down in Barrio. There are few good biergarten style breweries left in San Diego and Mujeres is one of them. The ownership and service are amazing and support a great cause, the beers are excellent, and the ambiance is top tier. I recommend visiting Mujeres and in general the Barrio Logan area to any who have not been. Swing by on a sunny Sunday, grab a nice pint (or Michelada), and just enjoy the vibes.

Yelp
I have been meaning to come here for a while now. There was an event going on. They had several pop ups there. The people were helpful and I was able to get my drink quickly. They have a wide variety of drinks. Would definitely recommend this place to anyone. Parking can be hard to find but got lucky and found one right away.

Yelp
Love the Mexican, La Rasa praise of those born with feet here in California or on Mexican soil, all are welcome to celebrate the great achievements and successes of Latinos in business and women collaborating together. I came here for the vintage flea market and the lead singer of the B-side Players shared his beautiful voice. We spoiled ourselves with some vintage clothes and beers dressed with a candy drizzled rim with Cajeta which is caramel made with goat milk and crush peanut candy, also had a chelada made with lime juice and salt. The menu had cute names. and Mexican candies. We ate and drank until our hearts were content. Their next event is movie night and then a Gal-entines!! Going back to support our fellow latinos and latinas.

Yelp
We had a great experience at Mujeres Brew House. The bartender was awesome and really nice. The beers were awesome and the music was on point. I would highly recommend this place. We are going to come back.

Yelp

Yelp
Love that it is ONLY female Chicano owned brewery I believe in USA. Was quite packed for an event. Sat upstairs and enjoyed a La Jefa and Lager Muy Japones, both good. Wife had Traditional Margarita. Spoke with owner who is very engaging. They did have 3 food vendors that night. They have a small parking lot in back and parking looks to be tricky.

Yelp
IMHO this is mother of all breweries here in town. What makes it standout is that it's as cool place as this open place in downtown. However plenty of parking around the block. Plenty of seating which is facing up the little stage, where DJ shows their skills.

Yelp
I had been meaning to make it here, as I was eager to show some support for a local, woman/POC owned brewery. We finally made it in for a beer, after having some dinner and drinks up the street, and the spot has some interesting things going on here. I came specifically for the beer (there are 7 to choose from), but was surprised to see so many other beverages on the menu-palomas, seltzers, wine seltzers, beer cocktails, and more; if you're looking to get crunk, they've got an assortment of ways to get your drank on. They also sell an assortment of Mexican snacks, Michelada mixes, and clay pots filled with candy. We slid thru on what they expected to be a slow Turkey Day Eve, so the large patio was closed. Unfortunately, what I noticed pretty quickly is that the service can be a little slow. There was only one person behind the bar, and due to some of the specialty drinks that require a little longer preparation, it took a little longer than expected to get a beer with only 2 people in front of me. The guy in front of me recommended the Frutas Hazy IPA, and since I love Hazy's, I went all in. Unfortunately, I was not a fan of this brew. The Frutas was really hoppy, and unbalanced. The spot has nice decor, the bartender was very friendly, but the beer was so hoppy, I could barely finish it. Then to add in the fact that the beer was $9+ and served in a plastic cup----SHEESH! They did have a nice little taquero out front, serving tacos made with smoked meats. I'll definitely come back for the tacos, but unfortunately, I might have to skip the brew.

Yelp
We were in the area for an event and noticed Mujeres so we decided to stop by and check it out. I got a hard seltzer lemonade which was light and refreshing and my husband and Dad got beers which they really enjoyed. The space is beautiful, there is indoor outdoor patio seating on the top floor and a large open outdoor patio with picnic tables and umbrellas on the bottom floor. They have a great variety of beers and mixed sort of drinks so a great variety for every taste bud in your party. They also have some yummy snacks (chips and sweets) and plenty of take home brews and mixes too. The staff was great and helpful and made us feel very welcomed as soon as we walked in. I didn't get any but there were also tacos for sale on the lower patio (they smelled really good). If you are in the area make sure to swing by for a drink or two!

Yelp
This is a nice spot to hang out with friends. Beer is pretty good. I like Mexican flavor they use for their drink mixes. They have some tasty michelada mixes and some cocktails as well. There's also a taco stand that's pretty good too. It is pretty strange that the lounge area is separated from the bar though. Your going to have to take a nice walk every time you want more drinks.

Yelp
I absolutely love Mujeres Brew House. I'm normally an IPA/Saison drinker and do not like porters or stouts, but the Café de Olla was DELICIOUS, ESPECIALLY with the cinnamon sugar rim. I can't wait until they have this flavor again. The watermelon seltzer with the chamoy rim was also delicious. They also had a taco stand and churros when I was there, and all of the food was DELICIOUS. They host a lot of events here, and they have a really nice outdoor space. Highly recommend!

Yelp
Myself and a few friends went to San Diego on an overnight trip and wanted to find a place to grab a beer near Barrio Logan area. We found this location on Yelp and decided to try it out. The location is very uniquely decorated and very pink (but not in a bad way). It was a Saturday around noon so it wasn't too busy inside or in the very large seating area so it was easy to order our beer and find somewhere to sit. The beer selection was good with just enough of a selection to have options but not too much to be overwhelming. I got a Hazy IPA for myself which I really enjoyed with my companions getting IPAs as well. The best part was really the vast seating area with music playing outside. It's a great space to come with larger groups and enjoy a beer. I would be curious to see if it gets packed on evenings just because it seems like it would be a good venue for it. Overall I had a great experience drinking a few beers with some friends and chatting. I would definitely come back again.

Yelp
My friends and I came to this brewery since we were interested in checking out this women owned brewery. This place was definitely one of our favorite breweries during this trip. The beers were solid and the people that worked here were super nice. Definitely great vibes at this place.

Yelp
Love the service and environment here! Good beers, great music, and delicious tacos!! Will def be back next time I'm in San Diego

Yelp
This place is very trendy! Love the colors, decor, and backyard style vibe. The food is by someone else that I can't remember. It is a fun location to visit from out of town. Support local!

Tran N.

Yelp
Came here to check out a pop up vendor, Lucy Mae's Kitchen, who's been here multiple times for different events. Got to follow them on IG to see where they'll be located. Absolutely loved the Maryland Crabcake and Tameka wings! So much crab meat and the wings were tasty and crispy. Tried some of the drinks too and enjoyed ourselves. Cute interior, very fun and colorful. Friendly staff, would come back again.

Yelp
Enjoyed a nice and quaint brewery tucked in a Barrio Logan neighborhood. Nice staff and aesthetic . They had decent variety, from tart to sweet to rice-infused. Come support women owned!

Yelp
It usually takes me about two hours from Long Beach to San Diego to see my therapist but it's worth it every time. This particular day I was feeling adventurous after my session and decided to celebrate myself for tackling my childhood trauma with handcrafted beer and tacos! I learned about Mujeres Brewhouse at a LACMA presentation about beer history in Los Angeles not too long ago and saved them on my to do list for SD. I was pleasantly surprised to find out that they served food here so I couldn't wait to try. I ordered a michelada which came with a beautiful flower and tamarindo candy garnish on top. The bartender was super sweet and let me know where to find the bathrooms, food and extra seating. The patio is full of color and pretty plants reminiscent of my mothers garden. I ordered tacos de asada and chicken to have with the michi and I can't stop thinking about them. If you've ever been to a legit Mexican family party you'll want to try these tacos, especially the carne asada. The best part of a carne asada is the no nonsense simple ingredients that taste like home, took me back to fun summer childhood memories, that crispy meat, fresh guacamole, a bit salty, quesito and a splash of citrus was everything. I haven't had a perfect carne asada taco in a really long time. Not to sound corny (pun intended) but it was an almost emotional experience. I had a second beer before leaving, an amber ale which did not disappoint. It has a lingering sweetness which was super nice. I can't wait to come back and enjoy all the buenas vibras.

Yelp
Went here to check out the mural and stayed for the drinks and music. Great place to hangout.

Yelp
Great service, my wife's Michelada was amazing with the blond ale, and The food by Miguelitos Catering was fresh, tasty, delicious to say the least. Definitely will be back!!

Yelp
Easy street parking in the afternoon. Colorful place with odd layout. Have to exit and walk on the sidewalk to access the beer garden. Not exactly legal IMO. Enjoyed the west coast IPA and the hazy IPA. Didn't like the plastic cups. Plastic reusable pint glasses would have been better.
google avatar

Yelp
I had been looking forward to visiting this spot, and it did not disappoint! I love the fact that it's women owned, and they had a beer with hops from a Latin(x) owned farm as well. The woman working (maybe an owner?) was very welcoming and helpful, and you could tell she was passionate about her job. Some beertenders just ask well do you like hoppy or not? Which is helpful to some degree, but she gave a much better rundown without using that question. I went for a flight of 4 because they had several interesting choices. They don't have a lot of "traditional beer" choices, but that's what makes this place special too. They use flavors inspired by their culture. My favorite was the cafe de olla stout, but their seltzers were also great. Not too sweet and nice balanced flavors. And probably the one I was most surprised about was their prickly pear pale ale. I don't always like fruit with hoppy beers, but this one was great - very unique. It was also a favorite amongst the others I came with. They serve some Border X brews as well, and Border X serves some of theirs. We came a little too early for the food, but we were there for the beer anyway. Cute place with a lot of space and so much artwork. There was a DJ also, but the sound level was perfect. You could still have a conversation, but it added some energy to the setting for sure. I look forward to returning!

Jennifer B.

Yelp
Absolutely loved this place ! So many seltzer and the food Miguelitos catering service had authentic michoacan food which is very rare to find at a brewery ! I'll definitely be coming back for the food and of course beer !
google avatar

Johana T.

Yelp
This is a great brewery! I've been many many times over the past couple of years, and it doesn't disappoint. They hold paint events sometimes, and have also hosted a Latinx LGBT even in pride month. Everyone is always super friendly and there's ample space throughout the location to get nice and comfy while sippin a delicious IPA. Best part is the beer is brewed by women, hence the name. Woo
google avatar

Rachel K.

Yelp
What a great venue. Amazing art, plenty of outdoor seating. Delicious tacos. The staff is friendly. Come on a cool day and enjoy a delicious brew.
google avatar

Yelp
Been there several times while visiting Barrio Logan, San Diego from the L.A. area. It's a great place for anyone, but since it's a woman owned and ran brewery with an empowerment theme/modus operandi, you will especially enjoy it if you're close to Hispanic culture, specifically to Mexican culture. Great people, great service, great beer, great ambiance and music. Took my 80 year old mama there with us a few months ago and she absolutely loved it, and she doesn't even drink! Highly recommended for anyone. Great location too, plenty of parking in the back.
google avatar

Yelp
Was with a friend the day of the Barrio Logan Fest and figured we'd make our way over. I have to say I do love this spot! The Beers were bomb, micheladas amazing, gansita is worth a try... LOVE the set up and decor. There is ample seating for singles, couples, big groups... Also highly recommend ordering from the food truck! The service was awesome- checking on us, quickly clearing cups, & garbage. They took some photos also but haven't looked for them yet... We learned that it's a husband/wife operation. Mujeres Brew House is hers & Border X is his- they're both amazing!
google avatar

Eminence C.

Yelp
This place is a hidden diamond. The drinks are fantastic and delicious. I love the creations and variety of snacks. Also, this place brings in the culture and community together with outside vendors of foods and must buys. Check it out!
google avatar

Alfredo L.

Yelp
They have amazing outdoor seating that's very spacious, the service is great, and the beer is definitely worth stopping by for. Easily if I'm in the area, Mujeres is the place to go, especially for the IPA lovers.
google avatar

Evelyn R.

Yelp
Lovely place. Owen by women for women... love the atmosphere and the fact that they have different event for different occasions that's cool.
google avatar

Kaylyn B.

Yelp
The place was decorated cute. The set up is strange you have to walk outside of building onto sidewalk to get down to bottom patio. Staff wasn't the most welcoming, they seemed bothered every time we ordered drinks. Drinks were good. The cocktails are very sweet. There was only 1 heater for the whole patio, so dress warm if you're going at night.
google avatar

Nessie B.

Yelp
I love Mujeres, especially on Lotteria Night. It's a super fun place and I highly recommend it. The vibe is welcoming and the service is top-tier. It's a great place to visit with friends.

Yelp
Loved the space, the atmosphere and the drinks! (I had a anon-alcoholic sangria) Love the crew that works here too!

Yelp
Love love love this brewery. I was there to celebrate my birthday. Love the patio area and that they are pet friendly. The Michelada Bar is amazing. The ambiance has a super Chill vibe.

Yelp
Loved the customer service and beer, they served birria nachos which were delicious. I went there for a paint event with my daughter and we had a lot of fun!

Patti L.

Yelp
Relaxing colorful outdoor venue with delicious food and drink (self serve) and a feeling of community. Our group of 5 shared one of each kind of street taco and then ordered more! Proud to support this Chicana owned business!
google avatar

Yelp
I heard that a new brewery was opening that is owned by a woman. I said to myself I have to make it down there to support and check it out. I'm so glad I did because I really enjoyed myself and it was great to see others supporting Mujeres Brew house. They had some tacos that were very tasty for a decent price. I'm not sure if they have food trucks that come through but I was happy with the tacos. The beer I had which was the Horchata Golden Stout which I later found out was actually from Border X brewing was damn good. I wish I had got a beer from Mujeres but thats okay because I'll just have to go back. It's a small brewery with outdoor seating and some tables on the sidewalk. I could see this place getting busy and the need for more seating. I was very impressed with Mujeres and will for sure be back. Maybe they will open a location in North county something closer to me like Vista???
google avatar

Bianca M.

Yelp
I definitely enjoyed my drinks here. It's a cute brewery. I love how it is decorated and the names of the beers. The Paloma was so good it definitely will sneak up on you. The ladies were super nice and gave great recommendations. Cannot wait to go back.

Jay M.

Yelp
Looked forward to going here, was super excited. Only to be disappointed, very unwelcoming energy. The worker seemed as though she was upset I came in. I ordered a drink, that wasn't bad. Very nice looking place. But if you want customers to return, make them feel like you're happy they are there. Was giving the benefit of the doubt, maybe the worker was going through something, but that does not mean give bad customer service when someone is being very kind and happy to try your establishment. The most successful businesses create a relationship with their community and customers. Please keep that in mind.
google avatar

Michelle F.

Yelp
The beer is great and the vibes are good- 5 stars solid. This review is strictly for the food. If you can DON'T eat here! Given the location I figured how can they mess up tacos? Well my dears it's possible. I can attest to the arrachera and the old meat- that will do it for you. The meat tasted old! Initially I thought the odd taste was from the awful seasoning, marinade (which is totally not needed by the way). Salt and Pepper, all you need. I hate to write bad about the tacos because I love tacos, even the ones where they skimp on the meat or the tortilla isn't great... but these arrachera tacos deserve a skipping. They look pretty with the micro greens & pink tortillas- but the taste and quality is lacking. Lastly we tried their vegan ceviche. What's that?!?...Not good. If you've ever had real ceviche, ever, ever in you life don't try this. If you've never had ceviche and you're vegan, and this is the only thing you can eat and you're hungry, you do you. Don't say I didn't warn you. Love the live music, if I come back it will be solely for that.
google avatar

Sarah S.

Yelp
Great service and decent beers. Great location. Great ambiance and plenary if seating and live music.
google avatar

Oscar A.

Yelp
I'll start off by saying the ambiance and vibe here is immaculate. Live dj with plenty of table space and really cool aesthetic. I came here to celebrate my 30 th birthday with a ton of friends and everyone had an absolute blast. The great time we had was easily attributable to the staff that went above and beyond and delicious beers. We all tried some tacos they had as well and enjoyed them very much. Thank you to the staff at mujeres for having such an awesome brew house, cannot wait to be back !
google avatar

Daniel G.

Yelp
Very cool spot. Good beers. Great service. My family had a good time. Ended up taking a few beers to go. To the beach.

Richard M.

Yelp
We were in SD around April & we decided to try this place out. We walked over from Border X Brewery a few blocks over bc it was dead there. Man I'm glad we did bc the vibe there was on point. They had a dj rocking oldies, freestyle & sunday jams. They had a little food vendor there & the beers were spot on. If I lived out there, I'd def be a regular, but looking forward to returning. In fact, one of my buddy's told me "Mujeres Brewery was the highlight of our trip." And this a lot given that we must have visited at least 15 bars or so during our visit. We'll def be back!

Sarah L.

Yelp
Such a cute, fun brewery with good beers and an awesome team! I love the woman empowerment vibes.
