"This Japanese export has been quietly opening outposts all over LA and NYC (the tiny to-go kiosk inside JFK's international terminal is particularly genius), though Muji goods have been shoppable at MoMA for years. The stores are simple in both concept and aesthetic: After all the brand is predicated on the idea that the best design is the least design. Minimalist fixtures and neutral color palettes are used to display the most well-designed utilitarian goods—housewares, t-shirts, stationery, and more—that are as functional as they are generic, which allows them to fit in every home regardless of sensibility. Google
Favorite location because it’s not crowded. The staff is so attentive and the selection is great. Side note: I love that the building is made of glass. It feels spacious and there is a cute garden in the back.

I have been going to MUJi since Singapore days so needless to say they promote a very high quality goods, Beautiful 🤩 store and authentic Japanese vibe.. I go here often as you get everything from good quality cosmetics, stationary, storage, suitcases/luggage, packing cubes , clothing to very nice Japanese snacks.. it’s very conveniently located and very well priced !! It’s worth a visit if you want stuff and pocketful of Japanese zen 🪷 . do try out their Humidifier they are phenomenal

Google
I love MUJI products, so I try to visit as many locations as I can. This location is very small and seems to be more catered to tourists and nearby residents/office workers. They carry a large variety of travel sized skincare, along with things like toothbrushes, snacks, smaller sacoche bags. The layout is very interesting with each area sectioned off like a showroom. The staff were super friendly and helpful. The only thing I found weird was that on the edges of the store, especially on the back side and walls facing the new york times office, it was very bare and empty, with the exception of some randomly left storage in a box.

Google
Very bad customer service. The store manager was being rude to me for making a simple return. He’s very rude and demanding and used aggressive manor to torwards me and to his own staff. Horrible. This is unusual for a Japanese company they are very well known. If I’m not mistaken his name is Cheng.

Google
Great place to get a variety of different products from luggage to clothes. This place has a handicapped accessible entrance and there's street parking in the area. Most easily reached by bus or Subway to Tomes Square. The staff are friendly and helpful. Merchandise is layed out in an easy to find way and the aisles have ample room for you to shop.

Google
Awesome store to get a variety of home goods and clothes. It’s all modern and minimalistic. They have a variety of storage containers, kitchen supplies, and even things like clothes, backpacks, and suitcases. Come here for the vibe - it’s so soothing with their aromatic machines pumping subtle yet delightful scents.

Google
I really love many things about all the Muji designs and stores. But I've come here to say that the music played in the store is...not good and causes me to spend a lot less time browsing than i would normally.

Simple and beautiful design, I love everything , the acrylic frames are amazing

Yelp
This place is cool because it has the right of being right next to a very well known magazine company

Yelp
I find that the space is tight to walk through with all the objects but the aromatherapy that wafts throughout the store space makes it such a relaxing shopping experience. The location is great for people just passing through the city and their windows allow them to feature the best highlights. For example I recently stopped by because of seeing a water repellent puffy jacket that was on sale for $60 off! Even though they ran out of my size, I got one two sizes bigger which was oversized relaxed fit which "surprisingly works" because it was so light, airy and able to be layered. Even the vests and backpacks in there are water repellent! I like being left alone and it seemed that their store people were busy stocking the shelves and their checkout lines were efficient.

Yelp
I spent some time looking at their men's clothing selection. This place has Uniqlo vibes and I picked up a shirt which was super comfy.

Anor L.

Yelp
After spending $30 on a small overpriced umbrella from this store (which was advertised as $15) out of desperation, the first time using the umbrella featured the handle falling off completely and the canopy never fully opening properly. If you're going to charge luxury prices for basic essential items, one would expect a basic level of quality control to be present. Never shopping here again.

Yelp
Always something in here worth buying. Now they sell food and have doubled down on the clothes. They do need more changing rooms though.

Yelp
Muji is one of my favorite stores in NYC. This location is conveniently located in mid town. This is one of their larger stores where you'll find categories from travel suitcase to stationary. The staffs are friendly as well.
google avatar

Tommy L.

Yelp
Nice store with good merchandise. I like the small containers for pens, pills, etc. they have a nice selection of clothes, dishes, and bowls.
google avatar

Briana G.

Yelp
I love this store! As a 5ft tall person the clothes are perfect. No they aren't cheap but the clothing quality isn't either. I love that they carry a lot of basics so it's easy to put an outfit together. They also have very affordable stationery supplies. If you're thinking of stopping by I highly recommend grabbing a basket.
google avatar

PJ S.

Yelp
This store is smaller than others with less variety but it still has the Muji smell and the best pens ever!!!
google avatar

Tom G.

Yelp
I learned about Muji when I needed some stationary and a friend recommended that try the NY Times building store. So I did and came to like the place and the simple notebooks and pens they had, but it was small so the selections were limited. The Muji store on 5th Avenue across the street from the main NY Public Library is much bigger and has a bigger selection Muji has a wide variety of items in simple clean Japanese aesthetic designs and in simple functionality. Some may say it has an Asian minimalist look to it. From their basic colors to their lightweight cardigans, smock dresses to the geometric soap dispensers, toothbrush holders, bags, bedroom, kitchenware, small containers, and other decoration items. The only bummer is the prices are high on simple items like a small clear plastic travel bottle can be two or three times higher than on Amazon.

Yelp
This place is like Uniqlo and daisy had a baby. I personally think it's overpriced for what you get. When I went, they were out of many things. I saw a binder but then the paper that fits it, they didn't have any of. They had lead refills but no lead pencils. The quality is questionable too. They look nice and have a nice novelty. But It's not something I will continue wanting. Service was good. Even the employee told us not to get the pens there.

Jian L.

Yelp
Fantastic place. Smaller store compared to others but the staff named John was extremely helpful. Would recommend visiting if you're touring new York and/or regularly use the port authority buses as it's right across the street.

Yelp
Torn. Because they can have really good customer service.... didn't realize they had a dressing room, so I bought a shirt and prayed that it would fit. As I paid for it, I spotted the dressing room around the corner and asked if I could try on the shirt I just bought. And dang, it just didn't sit right. I hung my head and walked the 7 steps back to the cash register to return the shirt I literally bought 5 minutes prior. And they were so nice about it! They refunded it immediately. But... So here's the thing, they do have some nice clothes here, but they tend to run quite small. Women's sizes only go up to size L on many items, if not all. I do love their stationary products though, and have purchased some of their notebooks as a less expensive alternative to Moleskine.
google avatar

Rachel C.

Yelp
They double the regular Muji price here. Got a mini size pen. On its original tag it says with tax it's 420 Japanese yen (which =$3.7, using today's exchange rate). But the store charges $7.08. The beauty of Muji is NOT selling plastics with high price tags; instead, Muji (in Japan) is great because it sells affordable daily stuff with simple aesthetic design. Seriously, even seven-eleven in Japan sells Muji stuff. So sad that they finally got one in NY but became totally pretentious. I give it two stars instead of one simply because the quality of the merchandise is not below average Muji quality.

Yelp
Stopped by this place on a whim as we went into the mall it's located to use the bathroom and I'm glad we did. Super nice shop with lots of cool Knick knacks. We got a bunch of Asian sweets for a decent price and the employees were super nice.
google avatar

Yelp
After volunteering at a food pantry nearby, I was in need of retail therapy. This Muji is located in the New York Times building. I purchased a 0.5 gel pen and a thin graph paper notebook. Each item costs $1.50. The cashiers are helpful here. Last time, i couldn't find an item that was on sale. The cashier called 3 Mujis to track it down for me. Good service and low prices. Why won't you shop here?
google avatar

Dani P.

Yelp
MUJI is popping up all over NYC. I wish they'd finally bring one to DC... this one is probably in one of the best locations, just around the corner from Times Square. It has a nice, open air to it with glass walls etc. I love exploring their stationary and travel trinkets. The home goods are also nice, but truthfully overpriced for what they are. They had a small rice cooker for $130, when you can get a trusty Zojirushi for less (and those things don't die, ever). I like their clothing options; they're kind of like Uniqlo meets GAP. Anyway, this is a nice stop, and a refreshing alternative to all of the super commercial retail options that tend to flood Times Square.

Yelp
I'm definitely partial towards this Muji being it was the first one I was introduced to. Everything about the store is so relaxing and calming. You enter and see all the humidifiers and if you're a lunatic like me, you rush over to smell the new types of scents they have. They also have candles. WHICH IS AMAZING. My favorite thing about the store is the office supplies section. You know how every procrastinator loves office supplies. It creates the illusion of productivity. I LOVE everything about it. I'm a fan of thin ink pens. So the ink flows out super thin. Just my preference. With most gel pens, the ink flows out too thick. Not sexy. This place has different varieties of the pens. The Japanese people truly are innovative. There are so many small supplies that are just adorable and can easily fit into your bag without taking up too much space. They have a clothing section which ranges from scarves, gloves and even t shirts. There's a kitchen section with everything that the inner mom in you could want. Lmfao. This place is easily a great distraction for everyone. There's something for everyone.

Yelp
Love the proximity to Port Authority so I can stop by for a quick shop. This location is compact but well laid out and organized. Very helpful staff. I love their product line so I try hard not to impulse by. But I will always walk out after purchasing at least a few small items to organize my life.
google avatar

Yelp
Exchanging something without receipt is almost impossible. I was there today, just to exchange a small size sweater with medium size. The item was in a good shape. I bought only 3 days ago and I didn't use it. They said according their company policy they can't exchange anything without receipt. I totally understand and respect that but the way they treat their customer was super rude and careless. I'm sure in their policy also there is something about how to treat a customer. Which they don't care about as much as a receipt. A big disappointment!!!

Yelp
It makes me happy to just look around products here. If you like simple, minimalism style, here is your wonderland. They have everything from clothing, to kitchen ware, and office product. You name it, they have it. Most of the product are in plain colors (white, off-white) and very simple style. The price can be a bit higher on similar products, but you usually find good quality here. Some small items, I found hard to find others once I get use to Muji products. My favorite two are soap container, and black rubber band. Their soap container has a loose sponge layer, which eliminates all the problems of a conventional soap container. Your soap never stay in a wet surface anymore. Their black band has been my favorite since my first time use it. I have a lot of hair, many rubber band cannot hold my hair tight enough when wrap twice, but doesn't allow me to wrap it 3 times. Their black rubber band is perfect for me. It's also very durable. I've used my for almost two years, and it doesn't get loose. The staffs here are very nice and friendly. They are so patient to answer questions and check items for me. I hope Muji can open more stores around the country.

Yelp
The customer service in this muji is exquisite. Even when they're in a rush they're nice and not distracted! Always willing to answer questions and tell you about the sales. When I was visiting NY I came into this specific store three times.. and two times in one day.. in a 2 hour interval. Maybe I'm biased because I am a muji fanatic and I never go because it's nowhere near my hometown, but I always have a great time here! This store is nicely organized, never messy. Everything is labeled and the price of everything is properly displayed.
google avatar

Yelp
Do not buy from Muji. They have bizarre return policies. They don't accept the return items of online purchases in physical stores. They don't accept the return items that were purchased at the stores via mail either. Furthermore, there is no such free return. You have to pay for the shipping fee. Returning is not easy with Muji, so don't buy any there. There are other businesses that have minimal design with better prices and quality and better services.
google avatar

L L.

Yelp
They opened at 9am on Black Friday. We were the first ones there. There was no crowd and the sales was minimal. Nevertheless, we loved Muji from Tokyo to here and worth the visit. The items were of good quality and worth the price in the long room.

Yelp
I just made a purchase of 2 pieces of women underwear on Muji Times Square location during my lunch break. I didn't bring any bag with me except my coin purse and my cellphone. The checkout experience is very bad. The cashier asked if I need a bag for it which cost $0.05 for it and I said no thanks but can you wrap it for me with paper because it's underwear and I don't want to show people what I bought in the street. The cashier said the paper is for ceramic only and she repeated that twice. And then she asked impatiently do you need a bag or no? I have to say yes to avoid people seeing my underwear. The whole point of charging people is to minimize the usage of plastic. As a store, you need to come up with a solution for this kind of situation. I don't have any other choice but to accept a plastic bag at that moment. A simple wrapping paper makes a difference here. It's not a pleasant purchase experience at all.

Yelp
Simple and gorgeous aesthetic for the minimalist in you. With neutral colors, calming diffusers, clean lines, and soft lighting, Muji epitomizes the life I want to live--that of an enlightened, working Japanese woman with her priorities set as straight as her teeth. I prefer Muji's streamlined aesthetic to Ikea's. Especially in this age of clutter and information influx, I would go as far as to call Muji inspirational, with an aesthetic complemented by the selection of clean cut and classy fashion at Uniqlo. I have to say Japan is onto something here and I'm glad they brought it to America. I bought the pens and weekly planners when I was in college and felt my life get 25% more organized. One day I will be able to afford a body cushion, one of the softest man-made creations to grace this planet.

Yelp
This was my first time inside a real Muji as the only one I been to was inside JFK. This Muji is nice, the workers were just minding their business, and the items they sold were intriguing. I only intended to gawk but since there were cheap items I decided to purchase. I snagged a shirt for $12, a cupcake or muffin I think for $3, and a photo card holder for $3. Therefore, I can brag that I purchased at Muji! I was surprised that they sold food at Muji, too. Besides the cupcake or muffin I almost purchased another small cake but decided against it. They have these awesome Muji diffusers that I've always wanted but since I was traveling light I decided to just opt for the Amazon knockoffs. They have all these fragrances for sale as well. This branch might be smaller, but I like the design since it is integrated in the New York Times building. Maybe next time I'll check out the other locations.

Yelp
As I made my way through the crowded streets of Time Square, I noticed a girl rush pass me, Muji bag in hand. My eyes lit up like a Christmas tree and I followed her, asking where the nearest Muji was. "It's right ova there honey" she says and points to the store next to the New York Times. YES! What is Muji you ask? It is something like a Japanese version of The Container Store. Being the freakishly organized person that I am, this place was a goldmine. They also sell random useful items besides organization solutions. Some odd: recycled socks and a mini portable ashtray that you can keep in your purse. I picked that up for my smoker co-worker, not to encourage her habit, but because I knew she would actually use it and not toss it in a drawer never to be seen again. What I was looking for was makeup storage. They sell these acrylic 5-drawer organizers that at one point, I was unable to order online because they were in such hot demand. Every time I would visit their website, they were sold out. It was frustrating because I couldn't find anything like it back home. So I picked up two cases, much to the hubby's dismay because it took up about a 1/4th of our luggage space. When I was in line waiting to purchase, the gal in front of me was having a difficult time returning an item. Not sure what their return policy is like so you may want to ask before you buy. Prices are moderate, the store is immaculate, and service is good. I wanted to purchase the aluminum luggage with the muji stickers all over it but apparently it was for display only. Ah well. Will definitely visit again on my next trip to NYC!

Yelp
If you've paid a visit to the Muji flagship stores elsewhere in Asia, you're in for a disappointment. Things are on the pricey end considering the minimalism they're going for in their products. I wouldn't say Muji is known as a cheap brand even back at home, but prices here are definitely up there. Variety of products are on the limited end, understandably given the high rent. You're really just paying for the novelty of things being imported IMO. Take for example a pack of 10 or so cotton pads for make up removal. That pack alone cost about 3 bucks. Heck I can get a pack of 100+ for $5 at CVS. Does the quality of their products warrant the hefty price? Nope. The pens and stationary area has always been the most populated area out of the entire store. It has always been one of muji's best selling point regardless of where you are in the world interestingly. Gotta love Asian gel pens.

Yelp
Pros: (+) Organization acrylic drawers (+) Customized pens (+) Organization solutions for makeup artists (+) Travel accessories (+) Testers to sample products (+) Clean and organized (+) Friendly staff (+) Voting poll at the register for potential new products (+) Fairly priced (+) Travel bottles are leak proof Cons: (-) I wish the bag in a bag organizer came in black. http://www.muji.us/store/bags/bag-organizers/sail-cloth-bag-in-bag-a6.html ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Tip: If you are looking for this place for the first time, it can be rather confusing to find. But if you see the "New York Times Building", http://www.yelp.com/biz_photos/muji-new-york-2?select=gbU6ztg5jNnDrWgxAzf0eg#gbU6ztg5jNnDrWgxAzf0eg then you are at the right place since they share the same address. The address says it's on 8th ave between 40th & 41st street. However, in actuality, the entrance to this place is on 40th street, on the corner of 8th ave & 40th street. So walk to the side of the building and you will find it. http://www.yelp.com/biz_photos/muji-new-york-2?select=gbU6ztg5jNnDrWgxAzf0eg#gbU6ztg5jNnDrWgxAzf0eg ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ This place is perfect for just about anyone. If you are visiting New York, you might find something useful for your traveling needs or maybe need to buy an extra carry on for your shopping overload escapades. Their carryons are quite useful and have organization compartments. They also have fanny packs if you want to look extra touristy lol. Don't worry, I won't judge. I work as a makeup artist & hairstylist and come to this place for organization solutions for my makeup kit. Their travel accessories work perfectly to down size my carry on and make my life easier by reducing the weight of my kit. What I use from Muji for my makeup kit: 1. Their stackable pill jars, I use to store loose eyeshadow, pigment, glitter, concealer or depotted lipsticks. http://www.muji.us/store/health-and-beauty/containers/acrylic-stacking-case.html 2. Their small liquid plastic bottles I use to store liquid foundations, lotions, moisturizers when I only need to carry a small amount for my kit for a 1-2 person gig. (really reduces the weight in you kit tremendously) 3. Case box, actually has a divider in the center which doesn't show in the picture attached...but I use a few of them to store my mascara wands, lip wands, q-tips, bobby pins, hair pins, etc. http://www.muji.us/store/health-and-beauty/containers/pp-make-box-w-lip-s.html 4. Acrylic drawers for makeup organization at home http://www.muji.us/store/storage/acrylic-cases.html 5. Box partition, I use to organize my lip pencils, eyeliners, brushes when i'm working on set so I can easily see what I'm looking for. http://www.muji.us/store/storage/pp-boxes/pp-make-box-1-2-half-with-partation.html This is just a few things to give you an idea as to how useful their products are. Their acrylic drawers are amazing and sturdy. Perfect for organizing anything from art & crafts, paperwork, offices supplies, sewing supplies, etc. I also love their customizable pens http://www.muji.us/store/stationery/pen-pencils.html which is located in the stationary section. If you are feeling a little crafty, they have a comic book notebook to draw your life...or manga...or whatever your little heart desires. One extra thing that I noticed is at the cash register, they had a voting poll for a potential new product. At the time of my visit, they were asking people to vote on their top 3 essential oil scents and use a sticker to label their favorite. http://www.yelp.com/biz_photos/muji-new-york-2?select=gbU6ztg5jNnDrWgxAzf0eg#T-7JLcdioc02Ev69MnQG9Q I thought it was such a neat idea. I know it sounds so silly. But the way I looked at it, was that they care about what their customer's opinions are for potential new products, so for me, that earned an extra star in my vote.

Yelp
I never thought I'd find a place so quiet and collected in an area like Times Square... Muji is a safe haven for minimalists. Everything - from the stationary to the furniture - has that minimalistic vibe. The exceptional quality of the merchandise makes one understand and accept the prices they're being sold at. If you're someone who loathes wide-ruled paper, and adores college-ruled lines, Muji sells these thin and simple notebooks for only $1.50 with thinner-than-college-ruled-lines, plus margins don't exist! You can also use stamps to decorate your notebooks for free! Once you experience writing into a Muji notebook with a magical Muji pen, you feel like you can never turn back. Literally, it's heaven for me. The furniture was a feast for my eyes, despite how expensive I came to find out it was. The clothes sort of reminded me of Uniqlo. Everything's just wonderful. And beautiful. I really wouldn't mind living inside of Muji.
google avatar

Kate T.

Yelp
This Muji is only a limited edition store, I been to the ones in Asia and they are 3 times in size, even carry snacks. But I heart Muji, so I'm just happy that they have it in NY, period. What I like about Muji, it's their design, it just seems so simple and basic, yet useful and nice. Even the design of the apparel, are very simple and soft in material. I like their bottles (containers), they are free of leakage and good for traveling, I love those stack-able containers, it save me so much spaces when it comes to my cosmetic bag, I can put all my creams in those container and put the big bottles in the refrigerator and keep them fresh instead of let it oxidate in room temperature and expose to air by open and close the bottle when I use them each time. Price at Muji isn't cheap at all, but the design is simple, chic and cleaver. I was told by my friend from JP, that Muji is like a Target in JP, so please.. don't give stuff from Muji to your Japanese friend, they might think it's an insult.
google avatar

Matthew T.

Yelp
Like Uniqlo, MUJI is inspired by the Japanese so you know it's a fun store to check out. It's compact but there is a lot to see in terms of interesting design and on top of all of that they have awesome pens. I spent a lot of time just testing each of their pens from the thickness of the ink to different colors. They even have the pens that have multiple colors that you click to change or the pen/pencil combo that is one click from being a pen or pencil depending on what you need it to be. Okay it may not sound cool but I had a blast testing out the stationary. http://www.yelp.com/biz_photos/bMs-6xnKhJPL2RmgoTtoWQ?select=5mVxKI9JZj8YkL8c5fmmJw That's me in the middle. Where's Waldo status. Yes, some of the stuff is pricey but I guess you have to take into consideration that this is the only store in the U.S. The employees definitely have Japanese sensibilities as they don't say much at all. When one of them was ringing up my purchase he didn't say a word. Again, like Uniqlo, this store is worth a quick gander if you're visiting New York or live in New York and need something simple and neat for your place.

Yelp
Best-scented place in the city. Utilitarian minimalism that still evokes warm and cozy. Great everyday housewares, go for stationary and office supplies.
google avatar

Vanessa A.

Yelp
Love this store but I ran here to get a notebook super fast and they locked the doors before closing time.
google avatar

Paul I.

Yelp
I was there today with my friend. I ended up only buying a white tee shirt, but it fits well and the materials are high quality. I would have loved to buy a black cardigan, but it wasn't available in my size. Besides clothes, the housewares, furniture and diffusers are all quality products. I unfortunately can't purchase any at the moment, but I hope to one day. The employees are all friendly and helpful, and the aesthetics of the store are wonderful.

Yelp
Love everything about this store. Such a great range of innovative practical items with the most appealing understated aesthetic. I got a great sm. purse for $15 on sale in this very interesting rough weave waterproof fabric. It can be used 3 different ways with also a detachable strap. I use it when I walk my dog, but it even could look smart as an evening clutch! Neat porcelain tiny donut shaped individual toothbrush holders for you counter, so easy to clean and takes up no space in simple colors, yummy Japanese styled Vanilla wafers that were I think $1.25! I should have bought many more pkgs. for a little gift. great snack items...Nice aromatherapy section and great clothes ,etc, etc. I WISH this store was in my town. Fantastic Shopping OASIS in the midst of ugh Port Authority, TIme Sq. & souvenir junk. Very friendly & helpful staff!

Yelp
Okay, I was greatly confused walking into this place. What are they selling exactly? I still don't think my question was answered 100%. This place is really in the heart of downtown, in the midst of traffic jams and pedestrian confusion. The place is very modern with lots of glass and assorted household "stuff" on shelves without any really clear pricing; not like I would be too interested anyway. If you do like stuff that they might use in the typical home of Japan, then I guess this is your store! The prices, when found, were a bit steep; couldn't do it. Great place to kill time though...

Yelp
like so many other reviewers, i have been a fan of Muji as long as i can remember .. i think the first one i went to was in London, and then a few others around europe. This store is nice, and the building is pretty amazing too. If you are a fan of refined, simple, pure, clean design for your housewares, clothing, furniture, stationery and paper goods, etc etc .. this is the place to go. no big logos. no tacky crazy colors or designs. muji keeps it simple. some of it is a little pricey.

Yelp
I love everything about MUJI. This store is located in/next to The NY Times building super close to Times Square and across the street from the Port Authority building. Came here to pick up one of their famous pens ($1.49 pretax). I've also been looking for a pouch for my metal straw and found a durable one here for $1. Love the way this store smells--the oils are all going here. MUJI's organizers are also a dream.

Yelp
I do love me some Muji. Best tank tops ever. The cotton is really good quality. I would say the only draw back is the price. The ones I like are $19 a piece and of course I wish they were a bit less. But they do go on sale generally 1-2 times a year. Also they have amazing organization systems.

Yelp
Came here to grab something quick before we head to dinner. l childishly thought all Mujis in Manhattan are the same but no, this one doesn't feel like a Muji at all. I definitely prefer the one at Cooper Square. First of all, the address is a bit confusing and the shop is hidden behind the Dean and Deluca. When I walked in, the store was really messy. It's as if a storm came through. I guess they were in the middle of changing their products on the shelves, thus there's boxes everywhere. But don't shops usually do that after they close for the day so that they won't disturb their customers? I couldn't find anything I came looking for other than a bowl. I know for sure they have refills for the hexagonal click pen. However, all they had were refills in orange. They don't even sell this pen here in normal colours. I was trying to find another pen and their selections are so limited. Found a cap gel pen but doesn't have the tip size I want. They have refills for this pen but not the same tip size as the pens they sold. What?! What's going on here. Overall, not a very pleasant experience. Staff was not helpful.

Yelp
I guess I could have spent hours in a Muji store without getting bored - tons of things that I either consider to buy, or already bought it at home. Loved the way they decorate the store, such a relaxing feeling. Muji probably is a perfect place for small little container type of stuff - they have those in as many customization as you could literally think of. I have got a small carry-on bottle for flight purpose for instance. Apart from that, Muji is also famous for the lamp light aroma diffuser. They even have snacks and tea bags selling inside the store. How I wish they could start to serve real pastries, like the ones in Japan!

Yelp
It's like Japanese IKEA, full of goods that balance being generic and being stylish, from notebooks and pens to kitchenware to slippers to suitcases. I came in here looking for a notebook and a pen, and left with multiples of both, plus a pair of boxers and a bag of Taiwanese oolong. I don't know how that happened exactly, except to say that Muji's stuff is often subtly but powerfully appealing. In the same way that you shouldn't go to a supermarket when you're hungry, you probably shouldn't go to a Muji when you're itching to buy household knickknackery.

Yelp
I buy something from here at least once a week these days. One of the main things I love about this place is how calming I feel inside- I'll admit that this place can run out of its popular items fast, leaving the rest of the stock almost untouched. They have some small sales every now and then, so if you time your purchase right you can get a few % off. They had these strawberry creme marshmallows for maybe a day before they sold out- definitely more limited edition than I expected. Their beauty products are very highly rated- I recommend the body milk and high moisture toner for sensitive skin.

Yelp
As a writer and beauty junky, I was so psyched to check out Muji. Unfortunately my experience ended in being accused of shoplifting. The security guard stopped me at the door and asked me to present the receipt for my $1.50 notebook. The reason? I picked up said notebook and he didn't see me put it back down. That is, I believe, what the French call "shopping". Mind you, I walked to the register (he must not have been watching me THAT closely), bought it, and put it in my canvas bag. When I questioned whether he asked everyone to show a receipt, he said yes. I called bullsh*t (in my head), waited a few minutes, and saw him do the same thing to a couple as I stood there; he did not do so again. I returned the notebook explaining my profiling experience with the guard (ironically, a self-professed "Muslim who doesn't see color", but told me about the negative perceptions of Black people). Yes, it was only a $1.50 purchase, but my beauty spending packs quite the punch when I'm treated as a valued customer versus a criminal.

Yelp
I came here earlier today to pick up a present. There weren't many people in the store. I saw a couple of things that looked awesome but the price didn't seem to match the quality. I picked a few novelty items including cult favorite pens for my friend. The checkout was fast and they do free gift wrapping.

Yelp
After an incident in which a blue pen I had borrowed stubbornly decided to die on me and I was left to write a note with the last couple of words horribly, messily, angrily scratched and etched into the paper, I VOWED to carry a working pen with me at all times. I then overcompensated and had too many pens, markers, and pencils rolling around my bag. Then, when I was trying to find the perfect one, I had to spend approximately fifteen seconds (which is a lot!) looking for it in the recesses of my bag. "I have a Sharpie!" I once announced to a woman at the post office. Fifteen seconds later (see, it's a lot!), I produced a Sharpie and a beet red face. I came to Muji recently to buy a pen(cil) case and once again was amazed with this store. The case was the perfect size - small enough to fit in a purse, but big enough to hold my collection - and I even added to my collection because the pens here were so affordable! The 0.38mm gel pens, in particular, are $1.50 each and add just enough color without bleeding through the pages. They also dry so quickly. The stationery station at this particular Muji is a bit smaller than the others, but still does the job. I eyed a flip book scheduler that looked really useful. Muji also has housewares and clothing. Oh, and J introduced me to the chocolate peanuts, a snack that could easily be made at home, but are too good to pass up when conveniently packaged and placed near the registers. Likelihood of another visit: Very likely!
