MULLER S FAMOUS FRIED CHEESE CAFE

This Cafe has a very cozy, down-to-Earth vibe. The authentic German/Czech food is fresh, delicious and affordable. Our waitress, Katherine was very friendly and honest about local attractions and trends. We were so happy with our schnitzels that we went twice on the the two days and three nights we were there. The best part is that it's centrally located. The service was still good even when they were busy on New Year's Day. You've got to try the fried cheese!

Wanted to try a German cuisine while visiting Helen, GA. Looked up the rating for this place and decide to give Muller Famous Fried Cheese a try. My husband wanted to ordered something authentic yet healthy, therefore, went for the Grilled Bratwurst Platter which he enjoys very much! The combination of the bratwurst, the sauerkraut and the mustard all together made the taste perfect, 👌 even for someone like me who absolutely do not like the mustard! I ordered the House Grilled Chicken Salad but asked for the Honey Mustard dressing instead of my usual Ranch dressing to give it a try. It is very different than the American Honey Mustard dressing with a much stronger Mustard taste, however, was very tasty with the salad! Overall was a great meal and experience! The waiter is fast and friendly. With the enclosed outdoor seating, we really enjoyed the place!

We went there for breakfast. It wasn't crowded and we were seated immediately. We had our two dachshunds and were able to sit on the back patio that was heated. We liked the vibe and our server was good. The food was a mixed bag. My son got the Alpine french toast. It looked like regular bread and about three pieces were burnt, but it was good. He got a bratwurst on the side. I had got one too. How can I describe it? It was vinegary. It had a weird aftertaste. I've had bratwurst before and I don't remember it tasting like that. I got a fried cheese plate which was good. I got mozzarella. It was great, but I ate it with other food because it was a little intense on its own. Eggs and potatoes were good and perfectly seasoned! My husband had the egg, bacon, and cheese biscuit. It was good, but was falling apart. Overall, it was good and we would try it again.

We had breakfast at Mueller’s Famous Fried Cheese in Helen, Georgia, and it was such a great experience! The service was excellent, the atmosphere was cozy and charming, and the food was delicious. We tried their famous fried cheese, which is a must-try in this area — and it was amazing! Everything we ordered was really tasty. I definitely recommend this place for breakfast if you’re visiting Helen.

The food was good. The schnitzel sandwich was most generous and came with a tasty sauce. The Jagerschnitzel was ok, just not the robust flavor I’m accustomed to. There was a short wait, so not terribly busy but it took a very long time to get our food. All the staff were very friendly but not too attentive. Only one gender neutral bathroom, and there seemed to always be someone waiting.

Initially, I was impressed by the location and the ambiance. Service was initially good. My coconut latte was great! But the food... the schnitzel chicken, scrambled eggs, and potatoes were not only bland, but served cold as well, as if it the plate sat waiting for the other parties' food to finish being prepared. I was highly disappointed. After being served, we did not see our waitress for another 15 - 20 minutes.

The menu offers options for kids and adults, they have traditional German dishes, and some American options. We try the German dishes, the food was surprisingly very good. Our server was a little overwhelmed I think she had too many tables, my food came in timely way, the order was taking correctly, but after the food arrives, disappeared Fortunately we had everything we needed the food was good It took a while to find our check and get a refill, but one of the other service stepped up and helped us, very apologetically. The overall experiences was good

It was Octoberfest, so it was insanely busy, but everyone was doing their best to keep up. The food was very good. I got the ham and pork with fried cheese that was incredible. We had our dog with us and they were very accommodating.

Decided to eat here based on two factors- high yelp ratings and they are able to cater to GF allergies. Sadly most restaurants in Helen get horrible reviews, couldn't find one over a 4! We sat outside on a beautiful fall day, our waitress was so kind and excellent, she got our drinks right away, answered our food questions and made great recommendations and suggestions for allergies. I got the bratwurst sandwhich with no bun and a side salad. The bratwurst wasn't bad, the sourkraut a little too soggy but the salad was really great- fresh lettuce, veggies and cut cheese that was so great and home made dressing. The hubs got the Ruben and fresh cut fries. You can get frozen fries or for $2 more fresh cut. Get the fresh cut- really good! We were pleasantly surprised with this place given most places have such low ratings. We'd give this place a solid 4.3.

Tried this place for dinner based on their reviews. The host was nice. The manager who seated us was really nice. My server very nice too. My biggest complaint is about the wait encountered. I was quoted about 30 minutes to be seated and was probably a little over that, thankfully with other parties leaving to get progressed through the list faster. Once we were seated though, the first thing our waitress said is that it was going to be another hour before the kitchen would have our food out. In reality, time from seating to getting our food was probably was closer to an hour and a half. I ordered the wiener schnitzel with potato salad and spätzle. Everything tasted very good. I enjoyed my schnitzel. I liked the flavor of their potato salad a lot but didn't care for peas being in it. That was a first for me. The spätzle was good. I did order it with some additional toppings which were missing when it came out. No way I was sending it back. The plain original one was fine and they fixed the check no problem before cashing out. All in all, I would recommend this place on the food if their was not a wait. I would be hesitant to recommend it if you get waitlisted outside because of how long it took the kitchen. I hope they get that figured out. On food alone I wpuld of gave them 4 stars. For me tonight and the overall experience, I have to drop it to 3.

Mullers! Pretty funny (and fitting) since that's my name too! The staff here is wonderful--super friendly, attentive young ladies who really take care of the tables. Prices are fair, and the food is so good! I tried my very first Reuben here and it was absolutely delicious. The homemade soups are rich and flavorful, and the Greek salad came loaded with all the best toppings. They offer both indoor and outdoor dining--we chose to sit outside, and the weather, atmosphere, surrounding area, and music made it a perfect experience. Definitely worth a visit!

Went here for my birthday weekend the staff was so kind and helpful and made the experience more fun! We loved sitting on the patio and the food was so good. Definitely gotta try the cheese appetizer all the different kinds were amazing. Can't wait to go back next time we're in town

Service was great and the atmosphere.We had iced coffee that was good enough .We had the fried cheese kabob appetizer,and the fried cheese sandwich combo.All 3 of us agreed we would not eat here again.The wait was too long and the food was not that good for the price.This wasn't a good pick for The Working Man Review.

Pretty darn good! Very small inside. Neat food choices. Service was good. Cheese was just ok which makes me sad because this is what I was most excited about. Coffee drinks are on point but super sweet. We were lucky to get a table.

Came for Oktoberfest and walked by this restaurant. I got the jaeger schnitzel & my friend got the wiener schnitzel. It was very good but overpriced. Service was good.

Not ideal breakfast spot- The service was great, but the food left us disappointed. We had the grilled cheese/tomato soup which admittedly was good, nothing to write home about but nice on a cold day. The chicken schnitzel though was truly awful- the breading was half off it when it arrived and was so rubbery we spit out the few bites we tried. The eggs and potatoes were typical diner style so not much to praise or complain of. The only saving grace was the great hot cocoa we had. Super let down because we thought this was a good breakfast choice. Would recommend elsewhere unfortunately

We had breakfast here on our first day at Helen. The staff were very friendly and the food was really good. We had to wait a little bit to get our food, but it was 100% worth the wait. Everything tasted freshly made, and the dishes were moderately portioned. Their coffee was also very good and highly recommend the home fries.

We actually visited this place twice in one day. We went there for breakfast and loved it. We had delicious bacon, tasty eggs, toast, veggie omelette, chicken schnitzel, roast potatoes and eggs. For dinner, we again had the chicken schnitzel, Spaetzle with mushroom sauce and fried cheese with roast potatoes. It was good food. We recommend it.

The best food so far on our visit! Outstanding!! We went for lunch and almost went back for dinner...that's how good it was!!

We stopped here to get breakfast while visiting Helen. They were very quick to sit us down and take our order. However, we didn't get the food until 45 minutes later. We were advised the kitchen was behind and that to do a breakfast order they have to clean the grill to do eggs. This makes no sense considering they have an all day breakfast. Why not have a grill for eggs? They also advertise their famous fried cheese but to me it was just a mozzarella stick lol Other than that there was nothing special about the breakfast. I hear the spaetzle was good tho. Not sure I'd come back. The decor was cute as it's part of Helen

We chose this spot for breakfast and we were very well pleased with our decision. We sat outdoor looking over the other establishments since it was a nice day out. The ambiance of the place was awesome and very well decorated. The staff was very kind and very helpful when it came down to the menu because it was a German establishment. The service of the staff was an amazing even when we had to wait a little more for our food but then again we went when it was Octoberfest in the town so every place was jam packed. But let me tell you when that food came out everything was made with love and perfection as you can see from my photos. My chicken Shnitzel was to die for, it had bacon and a fried cheese in it and gave it that extra spunk with a sunny side egg on it. And if you've never tried a burger with a sunny side egg on it then you must try it. My GF had the breakfast plate with eggs, roasted potatoes seasoned to perfection. While my mother had her scrambled eggs with those roasted potatoes and toast. She also had a black coffee and said it was delicious. Overall this place went above and beyond our expectation and if we are ever back in Helen Georgia we will definitely visit again.

Unacceptable wait time for food. We waited 45 minutes to be seated, which we expected and were fine waiting for. We then waited another hour for our food *after* we ordered. Food is average at best, and definitely not worth the wait. Skip this place, especially if you have small kids with you or are pregnant and expecting to eat in a timely manner. Waitress was kind and comped us $20, but if we had known we'd have to wait that long we would have skipped this place.

This is another of my favorite restaurants in Helen. They have gluten free fried cheese, and it is amazing!!! I just love the texture of it. The roasted potatoes it comes with are thin sliced, are perfectly greasy and lightly salted. They also have gluten free schnitzel, which is phenomenal. The service is good, and the atmosphere is casual. They're open until 6, 7, or 8 pm, depending on the day. I highly recommend!

This is a great and very quaint lunch place. I was leery about the items that came on the fried cheese sandwich(cucumbers) but decided to try it. Best choice! The staff is very friendly; and even the owner comes around to check on you. I highly recommend!

Excellent service. Received our food very quickly. Love that they are dog friendly. The server got us a water dish right away. We had the pork Snitzel with melted cheese, red cabbage , saurcroat, and spatzell. It was delicious.

Private parking is what got us in this cafe. And thankfully we did. We loved the food. Pretzel was very buttery.

We stopped in for a quick lunch, we were seated quickly at the last patio table. I ordered the Greek salad with balsamic dressing and the goulash, both were incredibly good. I unfortunately was so engrossed in my own meal I have no idea what my husband ordered, I'll try to update this when I can ask him. I was too full to get an apple strudel which I very much regret, they sell out early and the only other places I've seen offer them add raisins.

We were in Helen, Georgia to check out the town and we stumbled upon this restaurant. The ambiance was nice, the service was good and the server was very kind. The was good!

A very fun, quirky place. Hey, if you're going to be in a town with a cafe that has fried cheese in the name.... you've got to visit. We were seated quickly, overall place is quite clean, and busy but attentive service. We had the fried cheese kabob appetizer, interesting... not sure it's something my intestinal system could have a repeat order on, but interesting. They serve it was a salad (?) and Texas toast. The dipping sauce I to ask our server what it was... the answer is tartar sauce. Well that's different. We ordered a cheeseburger to share, and the waitress didn't hear us say cheese, but in the end that's probably a good idea after the cheese app. Solid burger, good fries. We'd likely visit again when in cute little Helen.

This place had delightful food, though when they say they're open for early dinner, they mean early dinner. We popped in around 6:45 and ordered at the counter on the patio. They let us order as a to-go, and then we ate on the patio. I had the spaetzle with creamy mushroom sauce and added chicken. LOVED! and I suppose it was good that it was in a to-go box because I could only finish half. Anyway, I think this place could do a great late-night business with a limited menu. The fried cheese sounded good! But not at dinner time (ha!). It's in a good location to stop in while walking around the town. Wish we could've gotten the full experience though!

My family and I waited for a total of 90 minutes for food that was mediocre at best. Our one appetizer, a pretzel, was served 40 minutes into this wait and was accompanied with cheese that looked like it was from a downtrodden arcade. If you enjoy waiting and subpar food, Mullner's is your place.

My family and I visited this restaurant today and waited about 25 minutes to be seated since we were a party of 8, understandable. About 15 minutes after we ordered, we asked about our food and were told it would be another 30 minutes, and the server didn't apologize. No one mentioned it would take that long before. It actually took 38 more minutes, and our order was messed up, missing two plates. The food was good, but definitely not worth the wait. Please make sure to inform your guests about wait times.

I did love all of the gluten free options here. They were clearly labeled with a star on the menu and I could get fried things I usually never find! The breading wasn't my favorite but the cheese and potatoes were super yummy! My friends who ordered regular food weren't very impressed though. The service was quick and helpful. We sat inside and I was underwhelmed with the decor. The menu also was a bit overwhelming, almost like a scrapbook collage. Just a lot going on on every page. Overall I would go for unique gluten free options but maybe skip if I didn't have that dietary need.

The food was decent, but the service lacked extremely rude, slammed the plates. So my brother ordered a meal with the rest of my family. An hour later they came out and told us that my brother was not going to get his meal because they were out of it after an hour of waiting so I really have no clue what they were doing in this kitchen then some redheaded fuck came out and slammed our food down. Then after three hours of waiting, we got our food mind you this was a tiny restaurant with a large staff, so I'm not really sure what they were doing. Mind you there was only five of us eating and we ordered a very simple meal. Me and my poor family we're sitting in this lack of heat building. I was freezing my ass off. The moral of the story is please do not come to this restaurant if you want to keep your sanity.

Cute place the menu does have a lot of different options to choose from German food. If you aren't aware or had German food this could be a place to try for the first. Our server was nice and made sure we were good and made sure my mom had a great birthday sweet. I had the duck which was a little dry. Kiddos enjoyed their meal and my mom's salad was a nice portion.

Waited 2 hours and never got food. Lady also yelled at us to wait because the food was being plated finally. They told us our food was next and the brought out multiple different tables foods. Also saw multiple tables get up and leave without getting food.

Walking around Helen and came across this place. Cute inside. When I saw famous fried cheese I was sold. I'm a cheeseaholic to the max. Ordered the fried cheese with mozzarella, cheddar and brie. Got served pretty quick after ordering. Omg it was so tasty with a thin flavorful crust. Not sure which cheese I liked the best. Also got bratwurst which came with mustard. That was good as well but my fave was the cheese which came with ranch dipping sauce. I wish this place were in Kansas City.

We came in the beginning of March, and there was only one other small party eating inside. Scored one of the very few free restaurant parking spots right in front of the restaurant and the parking lot. It was a bit chilly inside and the old pop hit music was loud. They lowered the volume of the music a little bit after my mother-in-law asked. We ordered Czech entrees, the Schweinebraten and Roasted duck. Both of the entree meats had flavor but parts of the duck was a little dry. They both needed a sauce so we asked for a side of mushroom gravy ($3), which was good and made the dishes taste better. They both came with cooked shredded sweet red cabbage, sauerkraut, and homemade bread dumplings (more like slices of bread), which were all okay. The sauerkraut was not extremely tangy, more mild. Bread dumplings were soft-would have been better if they had a sauce/gravy to soak up. For dessert, ordered a warm apple strudel and chocolate fudge cake to go. They were both okay. The chocolate fudge cake tasted like it was from a cake box. Our waitress was kind and friendly. They have high chairs available. No changing table in the bathroom. Didn't realize until after there was a 4% processing fee that was automatically added. Not sure if that was because they assumed we were going to pay with credit card or not. So make sure to ask if that can be taken off if you're not paying with credit card.

I write this as I sit more than an hour in waiting for a single appetizer. The staff is is three people and two look like they hate being here. The lady that sat us brought the wrong food the table next to us. They have been here longer than we have, and upon receiving the wrong orders promptly left. So when they do finally bring your food two hours later, it'll be someone else's. Genuinely one of the worst dining experiences I've ever had.

Places like Helen are an extreme oddity of a town. They aim to pay tribute to a culture, but also distort it into something that is difficult to describe. In this case, it a strange combination of North Georgia country tradition, with a light overcast of German flare. It is as touristic as towns like this get. Zdenek Muller, the head chef and family owner, got his culinary training in Prague and opened this gem of a restaurant. Muller family came to Helen on a vacation 19 years ago and fell in love with the town, deciding to open a restaurant. This particular review will focus on the breakfast experience at Muller's. The bratwurst platters are substantial enough to feed multiple people. The bratwurst is tasty. Breakfast potatoes are solid. And after a meal like this, the beer from last night is sufficiently greased over. There is a pleasant front patio and while it is facing a road, it's not an extremely busy one, thus making for a rather nice spot outdoors to enjoy a meal. As a whole, pleasant folks and good European inspired fare.

After spending a couple of hours tubing with friends, we were ready to have something to eat. As we were looking to pick a place, I recalled that they had referenced fried cheese from this place as an option earlier. I didn't want to control the plans, but I was immediately sold and hoped they'd agree to introduce me to Muller's--they did. We stood at the door to await being seated and were quickly met by a smiling, friendly hostess/waitress. She let us pick our table and got us some menus. The interior of the restaurant is very casual and cozy, and has a chill ambiance like your local dive bar. Every staff member looked to be in a good mood and added to the fun environment. Our waitress was very attentive and sweet. I knew what I wanted within about two minutes of looking at the menu. I went with the Fried Cheese Sandwich (with mozzarella) + upgraded side: Homemade Goulash Soup. Our food arrived hot and fast. The fried cheese sandwich was everything I dreamed it would be and more. The huge hunk of melty fried cheese... the crisp crunch or the lettuce, pickles, cucumber, and onion... the juicy tomato... all sandwiched together with the golden bun... I will dream about this for weeks. They asked if we wanted any ranch or honey mustard, and I asked if we could have both. She brought back cups of each that were definitely more than enough to share and were the perfect addition for my sandwich. I mixed them both on my plate and dipped my sandwich in. Yum! The goulash was also great. The beef chunks were tender and shredding apart, the diced potatoes were soft, and the broth was flavorful. It was hearty and filling. Thanks for serving us! I look forward to taking my boyfriend here because I know he will be absolutely obsessed with the fried cheese!

We dropped in for lunch while visiting Alpine Helen before Christmas and had a good experience overall. We grabbed a spot on the back deck and they were gracious enough to turn an extra heater on us to combat the cold. The food, albeit overpriced, is good and pretty standard for Helen. All of the German food I've had in Helen has been just fine and that's kind of where this lands. We didn't care for the fried cheese, but we did enjoy our lunch with the highlights being the mushroom gravy, roasted potatoes and the goulash soup!

Servings were huge. Food was decent. Fried cheese tasted fresh. Staff was decent. I expected more fried cheese items.

Oh boy, where to start. I ordered a glass of milk and it was brought out with milk spilled all over the outside of the glass and milk pooling on the table. I couldn't pick up the glass without getting milk all over my hand. Had to wipe down the glass and table. Knew it was going to be a rough meal when the drinks get screwed up. The restaurant was less than half full-- nowhere near "busy". They seemed to be filling staffed, as there were consistently 2-3 girls behind the counter chatting. With that in mind, it took quite a while for the food to come out-- especially since it was just a plate of pancakes and a veggie omelette. The pancakes were cold and they brought no syrup. I had to ask them to reheat the plate and bring syrup. Plate came back to the table and was like warm and there were 2 single serve syrups..... these aren't children's pancakes--that wasn't even close to being enough. Had to ask for more syrup. It's expensive to eat out these days. The last thing I want to spend money on is a microwaved plate of pancakes, spilled milk, not enough condiments.... Don't waste your time and money here.

It is good. It is filling it. It just isn't any place that had anything stand out that made me desperate to return. Service was fine except we got our entrees 3 minutes after getting our appetizers. Other than that I appreciated the honesty when I asked if the Spaetzle was homemade and it is not. Schnitzel was decent, spaetzle was decent, roasted potatoes were descent , Vienna coffee was good, Fried Cheese was good. If you are hungry and this is your choice, you will leave satisfied, just not wowed.

Cute spot with yummy German food! We got the brats with potatoes salad, so good! They do not serve alcoholic drinks but you can bring your own in.

I have been looking at this place for awhile on google and "things to do in Helen." Just to get this out of the way, i loooooove cheese! So, I was excited to try it out cause I was finally going to Helen. First, there was no inside seating, or so we were told as we tried to go inside. Usually I'm not one to complain about service but, the women working outside was very rude and mildly insulting to my son and I. Implying we were going inside to be seated before this other group who was waiting for outside seating. So that wasn't a great start. So being told we had no choice we sat outside. The fried cheese was ok, nice fry to it. The schnitzel was good, thin and fried lovely. Potato salad was amazing! Everything was just very rich and filling. Over all tasty but I'm willing to bet other places in Helen have better food and service.

So glad we added this place to try during our quick visit to Helen. The fried cheese is a must, the service is so friendly and fast and the inside feels homey and cozy. You can choose to sit inside or outside. We went on a cold windy day but we chose to sit outside because it's covered and there are heaters. It was a great choice because we got to enjoy our food while staying warm and still viewing the town. We went just for the fried cheese but the fried cheese was so good we will be coming back for more and to try more items on their menu. We got the Fried Cheese Kebab Appetizer. It came with Mozzarella, Brie and Cheddar, all were so good! I could have sat there all day eating more. We also got their hot chocolate and it was some of the best hot chocolate I've had. It tastes authentic and homemade. I highly recommend giving the hot chocolate a try especially on a cold day and I highly recommend giving this place a try if you're ever in Helen, GA.

Family of 4. We all got something different including the cheese kabob appetizer and dessert. All the food was great. No complaints there. Our servers were very attentive and brought things in a timely fashion.

Went there to try their famous Fried Cheese breakfast. Very few tables to begin with on the inside. It was about 48 degrees. Got there around 9:30 a.m. on a Thursday and were fortunate to land one of those tables while people that came in right behind us had to wait quite a while. The waitress got the tables mixed up when bringing the check and that took a while to straighten out. Although the Fried cheese lived up to it's billing, we found it to be a very expensive breakfast. Wouldn't come back.

Quick stop to try the Deep Fried Cheese Kabob with Fries. Seating was quick, staff was friendly and attentive. The kabob was good, perfectly prepared, fries were hot and crisp. We were eyeing other food coming out and it all looked good. No complaints
