Mumu Hot Pot

The food at mumu was epic. The meats were all high quality. The veggie was also fresh and the lunch deal is 75 for 2. It also comes with veggies included. We tried the Sichuan and tom yum soup bases. The dipping sauce station was nice with good variety including mushroom sauce, satay sauce, chilli crisp, hoisin sauce, ponzu etc. The fishballs with roe, cuttlefish and fish tofu were my the favorite sides. Imo food quality was similar to hidilao. Service was prompt and friendly. Decor is modern and minimal. You get your own personal hotpot so everyone doesn't have to have consensus on a single soup base. Imo this is a major selling point over having hotpot at home. Will probably be back.

We had driven by this place serveral times and finally decided to try it out. When we arrived, there was a tablet for you to check in and wait for the host to seat you. When we were seated, the waiter gave us a tablet to place our order. We went with The Classic Plate, which you can choose two broths, three types of meats, three sides, two rice or noodles, and one veggie platter for $75. For the broths, we chose Buttery spicy and Tom Yum. Our meats were Wagyu Beef Toro, New Zealand Lamb, Prime Black Angus Beef Short Ribs for the meats. For sides, we had the Black Tiger Shrimp (Shell On), Beef Tripe and Shrimp Paste, along with the House Ramen and the Udon Noodle. Both broths tasted amazing. The Buttery Spicy broth had great depth, it wasn't just spicy, but also fragrant with a slight numbling sensation. The Tom Yum tasted really good as well that bringing out the flavor of the meat without being too greasy. The meat quality was pretty good, sliced into a nice thickness and held together well while cooking. Highly recommended! *Parking can be difficut, but there is a plaza across the restaurant with plenty of free parking if you don't mind a 5 min walk.

Decided to come after seeing the beautiful interior walking down Bay St. We got the mumu meat lover for 2 and got a mushroom and miso soup base. The service was quick and came out with a plate of vegetables and our sides we ordered. The meat quality was overall pretty good, I believe we ordered the pork, wagyu beef and lamb. Our favorite was the wagyu beef. The set also came with noodles which was great. The mushroom soup and miso soup base were very good. I had tried the yuzu shio my second visit and I think it's my favorite! The second visit we ordered the beef short rib, chuck and wagyu again. Out of those, I enjoyed the chuck the most. We also always get a grape slushy with milk foam drink that is really refreshing and pairs pretty well with the meaty hot pot! Overall, we were stuffed by the end, and the value was pretty good for the amount of extra sides and drink we ordered in addition to the set. Would love to come back!

Mumu Hot Pot has quietly become my go-to spot for hot pot in the East Bay, and for good reason. This place delivers consistent quality every single visit, which matters more than you'd think in a cuisine where freshness is everything. The interior surprised me on my first visit. It's got this sleek, modern design that feels a few notches fancier than the price point suggests. The entire experience runs through QR codes, from adding yourself to the waitlist to ordering at your table. You can even join the waitlist before arriving, though frustratingly you can't reserve ahead through Yelp. The minimal staff interaction does make me wonder about the tipping structure, but the system is undeniably efficient. Now, the food. The meat quality here is exceptional across all tiers, but if you're feeling indulgent, spring for the white snow wagyu A5. I'm a chef and I've tasted plenty of high-end beef, this stuff melts on your tongue with that buttery richness that makes you close your eyes. The vegetable selection is equally impressive, fresh and varied, which elevates the whole experience beyond just being about the proteins. The sauce station offers enough variety to keep things interesting across multiple visits. My wife, family, and I have made this our regular spot. Fair warning though, wait times swing wildly. Sometimes it's a 30-minute wait, other times you walk right in. Check peak hours before heading over. The Bay Area needs more spots like this. Seriously, anyone want to open one with me in Alameda?

Absolutely loved this place. The dining area is spacious, clean, and modern, with comfortable booths and a really relaxing vibe. Service was fast and attentive — the staff checked on us often and made sure we had everything we needed. All the ingredients were super fresh: beautifully sliced meats, plenty of veggies, mushrooms, and a great selection of sauces and condiments. The broth was rich and flavorful, and everything cooked perfectly in just a few seconds. Portions are generous and the presentation is on point. Overall, an excellent hot pot experience. Delicious food, great atmosphere, and very fair pricing. Definitely coming back!

The service at Mumu Hotpot is outstanding. The staff are extremely friendly, attentive, and professional throughout the entire meal. They checked on us regularly, helped explain the menu, and made sure everything was taken care of without being intrusive. The food came out quickly, and any requests were handled promptly with a great attitude. You can really tell the staff care about the dining experience, which makes the meal even more enjoyable. Overall, excellent service combined with good food and a clean environment. Definitely a place I would come back to, mainly because of how great the service was.

Never had hot pot before and this place was outstanding! The staff were kind enough to educate me on how this process was done. Come hungry because they give you a lot of food. The food was of an excellent quality and delicious. The sauce bar was plentiful and well-stocked. The soup bases were many as were the sides. Expect to be here no less than 90 minutes to truly enjoy this experience.

Love this spot! The interior is spacious and modern, and it really reminded me of the hotpot places I visited in China. The staff were super helpful and service was quick, which made the experience even better. The meat quality is excellent and I like that they offer different set options to choose from. The soup bases were the highlight. I had the sukiyaki and my friend tried the tomato, and we both loved our choices. My only wish is that they offered a half-and-half option so I could try more than one in my own pot. The shrimp wasn't as fresh as I expected, but everything else was delicious. Another thing I really enjoyed was the sauce bar, you can mix and match to create your perfect dipping sauce. Overall, a great modern hotpot experience and definitely worth checking out if you're in the area.

Okay, this isn't my first hot pot restaurant experience. I have had hot pot before. Usually a smaller, intimate restaurant with a few friends. THIS place is huge and pretty popular ...to the tune of having to wait 30 minutes for a table to become available for our party of 5 people. On a rainy-cold night, this place was quite enjoyable. The sauce table is amazingly good. The temptation to fill wide, flat bowls with an abundance of sesame, ponzu, shoyu, and other sauces in quantities sufficient to roll around in is tempting ( like one of my dining companions did). However, I found it sufficient to dump a single bowl of ponzu-with-spring onion sauce into my personal hot pot to individualize it to my taste. (Maybe a spoonful of creamy sesame sauce, too) The wagyu flat iron steak and the lamb plate were quite tasty.

Very spacious and clean. Everything is spread out with a minimalist design and I love the individual hot pots. I always come around 5/530 and that's right before the dinner crowd which can be huuuge. We always get the meat/veggie mix with a couple of add-ons, like more noodles/taro/fishroe balls. It's actually a ton of food for two people and a toddler (at least we think so, but we also never do AYCE justice which is why we don't mind this place). I also really like their sauce bar. All the good fixins for a tasty sauce. Cocktails here also okay - not my favorite, but not bad.

My friends and I were craving hot pot after shopping on Bay Street and so we decided to give Mumu a try. We stopped by for dinner on a Sunday around 5:30pm and the place was packed! Although it was packed there were tables available in the back so we didn't have to wait for a table. Ordering was easy and you access the menu through your phone. We ordered the Meat Lovers and the Single's Meat to share between 3 people. They give a great amount of veggies! I especially loved their variety of mushrooms. My friends got the Tom Yum and Miso soup bases. I got the Sichuan Spicy and while it was spicy and very flavorful, I do wish it had just a teeny bit more spice to it. There's also a sauce bar that has a wide range of sauces and garnishes to choose from. I'd definitely come again if craving hot pot. They also sell boba milk teas, which I want to try next time I come here. The location is convenient and there's ample parking at the Bay Street garage.

I liked the hot pot here because it's good quality meat and assorted veggies. The overall experience was nice and the interior was very modern. My partner and I shared the combo with 2 meats and sides. It was nice to have that amount of food but not feel too bloated after. Personally I liked the beef toro more than the short rib. I got the udon but next time I might try the fresh ramen noodle. The sauce bar was good. I got the sichuan soup but I would just go with a miso broth and get a spicy sauce next time; it way more pepper flakes and chili oil than I expected. Some things that could be better is if the hot pot boiler was more consistent; mine felt like it was struggling to heat up. I wish there were more mild spicy soup options.

Great spot for a clean and elevated hot pot experience! I wouldn't compare this to your usual Haidilao-like hot pot restaurants as I feel like Mumu focuses on the modern experience as opposed to maximizing food offerings. The restaurant didn't reek of hot pot bc of how spacious and open space the area is. Nothing felt grimy and oily or sticky. It was just...so clean! In regard to the food, everything tasted high quality! You get individual pots. The meats were very good quality. Only downside is there are limited options to choose from compared to other places, but I think this was intentional. Sauce bar was also mid and lacking in options. Their menu highlights well-structured and well-portioned sets that definitely left me feeling full and content, so I would recommend just choosing a set. Almost every other table ordered a tea drink so I thought to try. I got the grape tea and it was surprisingly sooooo refreshing. Definitely gonna order one again. Other random notes: They don't really have real bowls here LOL. And no ice cream machine HAHA. Overall I had a very pleasant experience here! Not like a mind blowing "5/5 the food here is amazing" but I'd come back again if I was feeling like I wanted to be classier.

LOVE Mumu Hot Pot! Came here with a group of 6 on a Tuesday afternoon and it was empty. We were seated right away and served right away. The food is always amazing and fresh. ONLY issue we had is that it can be a pain to order for a group if you are not paying all together it can take a moment since in theory you can only place/pay for one order at a time. Great sauce bar with plenty of options. Would 100% come back again.

A little pricey, but the quality is good and combo portion was good for our party of 2. we got the signature combo ($75) which comes with your choice of 2 broths, 2 meats, a veggie platter, noodles, and your choice of 2 sides. we chose tripe and fried bean curd. for our meats, we got the wagyu beef toro and wagyu beef chuckeye roll. their meat is quality and the veggies were so fresh. not a wilted leaf in sight. the interior is clean and minimal. the space is also huge so this is perfect for big groups. it was super busy even shortly after opening, so don't expect the most attentive service because servers are constantly running around. but the best part is that we left with minimal hot pot smell because the space is well ventilated (probably largely due to the size).

I'm embarrassed to admit that until a little over a month ago, I was a hot pot virgin. I didn't even know I was missing out. We were visiting LA when a friend took us to Haidilao. If it hadn't been for their guidance, 1) we never would have gone there, and 2) we would have had no idea what to order. Our friend did all the ordering with some assistance from our waiter because I'm gluten-free. The experience was great but a little overwhelming--but I'll save that for another review. This is about MuMu. Friday night. Super busy. At 6:15 p.m., we had to wait about 25 minutes. The atmosphere was lively, buzzing with energy. We used the wait time to scope out the menu and explore some nearby stores. As soon as we were seated, we ordered, and the food came out fast. If you're new to hot pot, here's the deal: You pick two broths (if you order a combo for two, like we did), and then they bring you trays of meat and veggies to cook in the broth yourself. Just wait for the broth to boil, and then start tossing things in--it doesn't take long! We chose Tom Yum and Sichuan-style broth--both gluten-free. Bonus points: They have a printed sheet listing everything that contains gluten, which was really helpful. There's also a sauce bar where you can mix and match ingredients like cilantro, green onions, and garlic with soy sauce, hoisin, and other flavors to create your perfect dip. The only downside? No gluten-free soy sauce. At Haidilao, they had it on request and brought me a small bowl so I could mix it in. Not a dealbreaker, though--the broths were so flavorful that I'm not even sure I needed soy sauce. The food? Amazing. We all loved it. We ordered the extra meat combo for two, and it was enough for three of us--possibly even four! We also added extra tofu (which we probably didn't need, but no regrets). Portions are generous. Everything was super clean, and the staff was incredibly helpful. I asked a ton of questions because some of the ingredients were new to me, and they were always happy to explain. Parking? It's Bay Street--if you know, you know. But if you don't, there's a parking garage nearby and a shopping center a couple of blocks away where you can park. We ended up there and did a Trader Joe's run after dinner, which worked out perfectly.

Came on a Saturday for lunch and was pleasantly surprised by the fast seating and service. Got the Mumu Signature which comes with 2 broths, 2 meats, 2 noodles, 2 sides, and a large veggie platter. Got the Sichuan spicy and green pepper broth and would likely opt for the Sichuan spicy and creamy tomato next time so we have one spicy, and one non-spocy broth. For meats, we got the wagyu beef toro and the wagyu beef flat iron and would get 2x beef toro next time. For sides we got the fish balls with roe and the the beef tripe and were happy with both options. Our noodles were the vermicelli and house ramen and the vermicelli matched the meal better than the house ramen (although we were very full before we even got to the noodles). Good thing is they let you pack up leftovers (including broth) for take out so you can make another round of hot pot at home.

Tips: Parking can be difficult on the weekends, i'd suggest parking across the street in the parking lot or going during off peak hours. I came shortly after the grand-opening of this location. I had heard great things about this place from multiple social media platforms and decided to give it a try. Upon arrival, the interior was new and modern. It felt warm and cozy. Staff were friendly and took time to explain the menu to us as this was our first time. We decided to try the mumu combo. We ordered the wagyu chuck eye, the black angus short rib, shrimp paste, tilapia filets, ramen + vermicelli. The quality of the meat was exceptionally good, with deep red color and bright white marbling to each individual piece. Clearly they take the time to handle their protein with care. Shrimp paste is also one of my favorites in general while indulging in hot pot. It had great flavor and a different texture compared to all the other things we ordered; just another thing to give variety to the meal. Drinks: Grape fruit four season tea and green grape tea. It had a strong green grape and grape fruit flavor. It honestly felt like I was drinking the fruit itself. It was so refreshing, i'd come back for the drinks alone. I will be honest and say that it was quite pricey. However, this establishment definitely prioritizes quality over quantity. For the meat lovers, i'd recommend the meat lover combo, but if you want more of an assortment or variety of things to try, i'd recommend the mumu combo. Not AYCE, but worth a try.

Came here on a Thursday night, and it was pretty chill until about 6:30-7pm, when it turned into a "let's make sure we're seated before the rush" situation. Good thing we got there early! The staff were friendly and *very* prompt -- they even took the time to walk us through the menu and tell us what all the veggies were when we asked (thank you for not making us guess between taro and mystery white blob #1). Since it was our first time, we went with the *Meat Lovers Combo for 2* ($75). We got 3 meats (prime black angus, wagyu toro, and prime flat iron) and one veggie platter. After doing the math, this seemed like a much better deal than ordering individual meals which only came with one choice of meat, which were around $30 each. Who knew math could save you from bankruptcy?! Now, the *sauce bar* -- oh, the sauce bar. This is where you get to unleash your inner mad scientist. There were so many sauce options, I almost felt like I was customizing a pot of soup for an entire army. (Note: They also have cute little plates for your sauce creations, so don't worry, your sauces won't end up all over the table like some kind of chaotic art project.) As for the meats, let's talk about the *wagyu toro* for a second. The black angus and flat iron were both solid, but the toro just had that "I'm fancy and you should appreciate me" vibe. My friend got the miso broth, and I went for the tom yum (hello, spice!). The tom yum was perfectly spicy, and I could feel my soul waking up with every slurp. The veggie platter was legit -- spinach, bokchoy, taro, rice cakes, tofu... all the classics. The taro especially was a nice surprise; when it boiled in the broth, it was like a little flavor explosion. 10/10, would taro again. The individual hot pots are genius. You get to try different broths without worrying about accidentally drinking someone else's broth (we've all been there). One thing I would've liked though -- extra bowls for soup! And maybe some tools to skim the fat off the broth, because I'm not here for a greasy hot pot experience. Lastly, shout-out to the broth refill options: hot water or chicken broth. That's a nice little twist I wasn't expecting. It's on the pricier side, but the quality is top-notch, and you're not paying for endless refills of mediocre broth like at those AYCE places. Worth every penny if you're a hot pot enthusiast or just someone who likes to eat things that are delicious and fancy. Would definitely come back! P.S. Don't skip the sauce bar. It's your time to shine.

The food is great here. It gets rather busy and the wait list is through yelp at the front. The portions are great to share for two and get just an additional plate for a bigger party. I really like this specific location it's very spacious. They constantly table touched and even offered to give more broth! My friends and I had such a great time and will definitely come again!

Had about a 50 min wait on a saturday evening. Meal ended up costing ~$60 a person with drinks for 4 people. In hindsight, would have just ordered 3 person's worth of things and worked from there. 2 orders of the Mumu signature (4 servings) was too much for us. great quality stuff tho, and for the two types of broth we got (miso and szechuan) they were very pleasant. the location tho is like, bleak. Bay street is like a mall fashioned into a promenade, maintaining a sanitized, inauthentic aesthetic. it feels closer to a disneyland than a real neighborhood and i'm pretty sure that's intentional. either way, mumu hot pot great.

Food (5/5): The meat lover combo for 2 ($75) is a solid choice as you get to select 3 meats, 2 soup bases, and 2 rice/ noodle options + a large plate of veggies. I would order the sukiyaki broth again as it was very flavorful. I would also recommend the wagyu toro as it was fresh and tender but you can't go wrong with any of the beef options. Service (5/5): Once the order was placed on your phone, soups and plates arrived promptly. The sauce bar is self-service but it's there where you can choose your own sauce adventure. Also appreciated that the staff was attentive to the soups running low and offered to add more if you like. Ambiance (5/5): Clean, spacious, and minimalist vibes. Even though it was not AYCE, I was left full (but not overly stuffed). And it being on the pricier side for hot pot, you do get what you pay for. I am sure I will be returning for quality hot pot on another cold day.

If you're looking for a spot for a night out and a fun hotpot experience, Mumu is a classic. With bright lights and a clean environment, you're able to enjoy both the food and the atmosphere. With multiple set meals catered for 2 people, it's a great date spot and ordering is easy by directly scanning and paying through the QR code on the table. With a variety of meats and soup bases, you can't go wrong with Australia M9 Chuck Eye and Wagyu Beef Toro, which is soft and tender due to the light layer of fat. The mushroom soup is filled with umami and the Sichuan spicy soup provides the perfect light kick. A cozy meal that's feels like a warm hug, Mumu is a great place to go if you want a fun experience and satisfying meal.

Out of all the hot pot places, MuMu's vibe feels the cleanest and most relaxing. You're not there to elbow your way against other diners or inhale your food within 30 min. The vibe of the restaurant really sets a chill pace for you to enjoy fresh ingredients over good conversation with family and friends. The mobile ordering makes it easy to choose what you want. We always go for the meat lovers which is more than enough food for two people. The sauce options are plentiful and the area always clean & tidy. Definitely my comfort go-to, especially when it's rainy weather!

Mumu is THE spot for hotpot! I was pleasantly surprised when my friends and I came here: the quality of everything is amazing and we really enjoyed every flavor. Our favorite soup base was the creamy tomato which was flavorful and a little spicy which had a perfect balance when adding ingredients. The restaurant is well kept with modern fixtures and the staff is quick, attentive and pleasant! I love Mumu

Mumu is such a solid addition to the Bay Street Mall. Since 2020, I see such an improvement in the quality of restaurants in the area. The one thing about Mumu is that it is quite pricey with a 1 person set for $32 and a 2 person set for $75 (comes with more sides). They do give you a large amount of vegetables and meat though so you will definitely leave feeling full. I've tried a couple of their broths and my favorite so far has been the Tom Yum one. They also have fish balls with salted egg yolk, which is a unique side for me. I typically prefer making hot pot at home, but this is a really good option if you want a higher end option with good ambiance, lots of food, and ability to accommodate hot pot with a large number of people.

Great addition to Bay St. Very clean interior design, clean sauce bar station, and fresh vegetables. I love how Mumu each person gets their own personal pot so there isn't any crowding in a singular pot. I got the single meat meal with lamb. The lamb was great and there was a hefty amount of vegetables and noodles. By the end, I was very full!

Out of all their locations, I think this one has the best interior design - it's so aesthetically pleasing. Clean, modern, romantic and soft. Need I say more about their food? Not ACYE but their set combos are in good proportions. Quality of their meat and food is consistent and they have a great selection of flavorful soup bases to try. They also have a self serve sauce bar so help yourself to those 3 compartment dish trays. They can get busy depending on the hour so be patient! Solid place for some good shabu shabu.

It was a cold cold night when I went to visit my sister as she was staying in Berkeley. I suggested that we go here for dinner because hot pot is *the* choice for when the weather is like this. hahaha... My sister agreed. It was her first time at Bay Street, and it was my 2nd time here. The place is definitely very lovely with the stores, the lights, and decor. We joined the waitlist at Mumu, and I kept on checking the status while we browsed around at Bath & Body Works. I think we ended up waiting for 30-40 minutes for a table. There were a lot of people waiting. We were seated in a long table and asked if we're okay with a shared table. He assured that each party are pretty far from each other as in opposite ends of the ling table. It's not bad at all. We ordered the Meat Lovers Set, and it was definitely more than enough food for us. Everything tasted yummy and fresh. Bathroom is clean and nice. Minimal human interaction. Lol... You order through the website. The sauce bar has plenty of options to create some yummy saucy concoctions. It's not all you can eat, but I think the price is not too bad plus the quality is really good! We also got the oolong milk tea which was fragrant, creamy, and delish! I would definitely visit Mumu again. :)

Let me start by saying this place is super busy. Really wish they had an online waitlist or something, cause right now you have to be there in person to add yourself and then you have to wait there to have your name called. Everything else is really great here. Fast service, clean, modern decor, etc. Would be nice if they gave a little more meat with each order, but the amount they give is on par with most places so can't hate. Would consider coming back.

My partner and I have been here twice. We love this place! Great broth and great meats! Okay pricing... but for some reason the times we've been here our stomachs can't handle it. It's definitely not food poisoning but it's either the spice (we're both really good with spicy food) or the ingredients they use but we always need the restroom after a couple of hours Like I said we love the food and the restaurant is so clean and the servers are great but our stomachs can't handle... something. And we don't know what it is I do think it has to do with their spice because my baby even ate their meats and broth and she was fine but since we eat spice I just don't know what it is... great place! I'm still giving it 5 stars maybe just avoid their chilies, chili powder, or chili oil

The Tom yum broth was probably the best I've had in a while at a hot pot! I ordered the beef tongue single pot, it was really tender. The single pot also came with tons of vegetables which was very filling. I had left overs in vegetables, since they were super generous with their portion. However, I wish there was more meat - The beef tongue also had great marbling and seemed high in quality. We also had an incident with our bok choy, but the staff cleared it quickly! Overall great service and good food!

Before my first visit to Mumu Hot Pot yesterday, I've only heard from friends that Mumu is good, but pricey. I can confirm that is the case. My wife and I both got one of their $15 cocktails and shared the $75 Mumu's Signature set, which comes with two soup bases, two sides, two meats, one large vegetable platter, and two carbs. This ended up being a ton of food for us, and we couldn't finish up our veggie platter. Big eaters will find Mumu even more expensive because each additional item is about $7. I went with the Tom Yum broth and loved the flavor of it. It had just the right amount of spicy and sourness to it, and the house ramen soaked up the broth perfectly. My favorite item of the night was definitely the Shrimp Ball With Salted Egg Yolk. Shrimp ball sides come in an order of 6 which felt like the perfect amount given how rich the egg yolk is. The sauce bar is well stocked and was neat and clean at the beginning of the night when we arrived. It's nice that this is included with the price of admission, as some other hotpot places may charge a small per person fee for this. A few reviews mention that the wait can be pretty long but I did not find this to be the case. I dined on a Friday night at peak dinner hours and my large group of six waited no more than 10 minutes for a table. Ordering is done entirely through the QR code and a website and you can leave your tab open in case you want to order more items as you go. Service was pretty good throughout the evening. We regularly had somebody stop by with a pitcher of hot broth to top up our hot pots and somebody else to refill our waters. Overall, I had a great experience dining at Mumu. Definitely would recommend stopping by if you're craving hotpot in this area.

We got the Meat Lover Selection, and I gotta say~~ The Waygu Beef Toro tastes SO GOOD! *chef kisses/* My partner was very hesitant to order it because it says it contains '40% fat' loolol there goes my diet. Diet who? The Waygu Beef Toro reminds me of beef belly, but waaay better. IMO, the flavor wasn't too overwhelming. I got the Szechuan Spicy Broth. I'm glad that I did because idk if I would be able to handle 'Butter Spicy'. Doesn't that sound so goood...?! Anyways, the service was alright, food was great, and I'll be back for you, Waygu Toro! Wait for meee!

I tried another location in Sunnyvale but since I was in this area, decided to treat my cousin and her boyfriend out for lunch (their first time) & woooow, their ambiance felt so luxury and clean like I was in a 5 star hotel! Beautiful dining to admire. Parking was easy; street parking or garage ($2.50/per hour or $30/daily - i went on Sunday and that was the pricing) Our server was really nice, went over the menu, told us the best option for 3 people & where the sauce bar located. We ordered meat lover ($75- meal for 2) and single portion ($32). Soup base: Tom Yum x2 & Miso. My all time favorite broth is Tom Yum for hotpot and this place makes it hella good with the perfect kick of spice! If you can handle a bit of spice, tom yum is the one! Meat: we ordered beef short ribs, chuck eye, beef toro & flat iron, all FOUR meat was amazing. Quality of their meat was top notch and the marbling of their meat was niceeee~ P.S. the menu is pricey but the meat quality is what i'm paying for so I don't mind the price for it. With our big back food adventure and mostly do AYCE, we were left satisfied and full! Thought we would order extra meat but surprisingly it filled us up including our veggie platter! 10/10 coming back again

I have heard amazing things about Mumu and it definitely lives up to the hype! This place is not AYCE, however do not let that shy you away from this place.. pay the extra $$ for QUALITY and QUANTITY. The amount of meat we have received in the Meat Lover's combo (our server suggested we get this one) is perfect for two people!! We originally had thought we would need to order more but truly the three trays plus the generous amount of veggies you received alongside was perfect. The quality of the meat was shockingly amazing.. you really get what you pay for here. Service can be quite nonexistent since you order everything through the phone, but I didn't mind all that much.. it just took a bit to get someone's attention to ask for rice but no worries it's all good! All in all, this spot definitely my go to hot pot restaurant in the bay now esp since it's finally getting cold out! I'm really happy knowing there are other locations other than this one as well, so hopefully those live up to this location's standards too!

GREAT QUALITY HOT POT IN EMERYVILLE. AMBIANCE: 5/5 Mumu sits along the shops and other food spots on Bay St, so perfect location to get some food and plenty of on-street parking and the parking garage across the street. There are 2 entrances for take-out and dine-in, no outdoor seating but plenty of indoor seating to accommodate small to larger parties. Interior is bright, modern, and clean - very aesthetically pleasing. FOOD: 5/5 I've been here a few times now and was impressed the first time I went. This place is not AYCE. There are 2 clean self-serve sauce stations with a good amount of selections for sauces and toppings. There are different combos to choose from - we normally get the 2-person meat lovers combo (2 broths + 3 meats + veggie platter w/ spinach, cabbage, broccolli, Bok choy, taro, rice cakes, tofu, butternut squash, mushrooms + 2x rice/noodles) and add-ons of quail eggs. There are plenty of broths to choose from, but we've tried the sukiyaki and curry which were both so flavorful. The portions were decent and the quality of the meat is great. SERVICE: 4/5 Ordering is through a QR code attached to the table. It may be tough to get some drinks when it's busier, but service is typically quick in getting the ordered food out to the tables. OVERALL: 5/5 It is on the pricier side and not AYCE, but worth going for the high-quality meat and delicious broth. Can't wait to come back to try the other broths. You'll definitely leave satisfied, very solid and one of my favorite hot pot restaurants in the Bay!

The Meat Lover Combo was perfect for two people, with top-quality cuts where you can see the rich marbling on the meat. The slices cook quickly and melt in your mouth, making every bite satisfying. Since it's not AYCE, the emphasis is on savoring the flavors and presentation, which really stands out. The ambiance is inviting, making it perfect for a cute date. With the combo, you can choose three trays of meat, two servings of noodles, and a tray of assorted veggies, providing a great variety. They also offer an extensive sauce bar with tons of customizable options. I got their Tom Yum broth, and it was very rich in flavor.

I would like to issue a formal apology to all my friends that I said KBBQ over Hot Pot. Mumu Hot Pot is amazing, and it has completely changed my mind, as well as revitalized my love for hot pot. Located right by the mall, Mumu is a wonderful post shopping experience and the food quality at Mumu is exceptional. In addition to the quality meat and vegetables provided, they introduce the concept of hot pot such that anyone can enjoy it, Everyone gets their individualized "pot" with a flavor of their choice. I personally, really enjoy the mushroom and the sukiyaki flavor. They also offer a self-service sauce bar which can make any combination of sauce that you desire as well, which was nice! Also, you order through a QR code provided on the desk, in which you don't even interact with a server unless you have to ask for water and the like. The only slight con is that it is expensive for what it is. For a party of four (2 guys and 2 girls), the total came out to around $200 after tip? However, I do think that the price is justified and would come here again as the food is just that good.

Finally have our date night without the kids and decided to try Mumu hot pot. The wait wasn't too bad but we did come on the earlier side of dinner time on a Saturday, around 5:40pm. Ordering through phone website was easy and you can add additional orders and sides as you go. We decided to go with the meat combo: beef short ribs, Australia M9 chuck eye and wagyu flat iron. The meat were all good but between us two adults, we differed on which we like better. Soup, we got a mushroom soup and a sukiyaki soup hands down we preferred the sukiyaki. Mushroom soup was lacking in flavor. Ordered a side of fish roe dumplings. It was pricey: 6 dumplings for $7, I could buy a bag with $7! Why the minus 2 stars? 1) there were flies! One even landed on our noodles and ended up on the serving dish. If there are flies at our table, it only brings to question, What about as the food is being prepared in the kitchen?!?! See picture for evidence. 2) We were seated in the table next to the waiting area, and the restaurant should have a sign for people not to crowd and even hover over us and disturbing what would be our personal space during dinner. This just wasn't cool and totally not the experience we were hoping for. We're kinda unsure whether this is where we would come again since it's nice that it's close by but we've had better hot pot experience in places like Haidilao.

Spacious and clean. Nice modern vibes. Good meat quality. Service was great. Prices are a bit on the higher side for not being ayce. Also wish the parking lot wasn't on the opposite end of bay st.

Was in the area and found a street that has all the new stores! Enjoyed the food a lot, but Tom yum was super spicy and sour, might not order again. Pricey but .. it's a chained store, and this store is newly furnished. You get pretty good value for the food.

We got here at 9:10 on a Sunday evening, and the kitchen closes at 9:15 but we were still able to get an order in. The waitress was very gracious and helped us order as well as get a bottle of sake. We did the signature combo, I got the schezchuan broth which was flavorful but really oily, might do the Tom yum next time. I Love that we left not smelling like hot pot thanks to the very spacious and modern layout. Can't wait to come back.

This is my favorite hot pot place ever! I will drive from wherever I am to Emeryville because I love this place so much. The hot pot is set up for everyone to have their individual pots so you can choose the broth that you'd like and what toppings you want to put in! The pre-set combos are just right for the recommended amount of people it serves. If you're looking for a hotpot experience that has it all, I cannot recommend Mumu enough. The ambience is clean and aesthetic, the food is fantastic, and the service is great. I will find any excuse to eat here!

This is my favorite hot pot restaurant at the moment. They have high-quality meat and tasty soup. For the soup, you should order the creamy tomato. With three people, we ordered the 2-person meat lover and added an extra plate of short rib. We were stuffed. The portions are generous and balanced. They come with a variety of vegetables on the side. The ambiance is very modern and nice. It looks clean and beautiful. The wait for dinner is very long! But the good part is you can walk around Bay Street while you wait for a table.

Speedy service, and all of the soup bases are really good. Convenient for family dinner as everyone gets their own pot. I love the sauce bar. It's a new building so it's really cute inside with great lighting. They also have great deals, mumu's meat lover deals for two people, and singles options available. Good vegan/vegetarian options too. So far we've tried the miso, the mushroom, the creamy tomatoe, the curry, and the schhhh-can't remember but it's my favorite soup lol

It was my first time here and I loved how big and spacious it was. Plenty of staff. The veggies and meats came fairly quickly and fresh. The sukiyaki was delicious! I would return back again!

Went here with my brother on a Sunday, and the wait was surprisingly short--about 20 minutes. The sukiyaki broth was flavorful, and the combo for two had plenty of meat. The beef cuts were decent. I do wish they offered more condiments, but overall, it's a solid shabu-shabu spot with great ambiance.

DAMN this place really hit the spot. My friend and I each got a singles meat and the soup base I chose was sukiyaki (sweeter side but so good), and prime flat iron. The meats were so yummy, my friend got the short ribs which were also bomb so you can't go wrong with either. There's a bar for additional sauces, dressings, toppings I'd suggest trying them all to make your own perfect concoction in your pot. The inside is really nice, airy, and spacious. The service was quick & attentive. Can't wait to come back for a future soup craving!

Went here for dinner with a friend and I really enjoyed it! You order your meal directly on their website using your phone instead of waiting for a server to take your order. I liked how they had "meal sets" which made ordering easy for a first timer like myself. We ordered the "Meat Lover" set that came with 2 soup bases, 2 noodles/rice, 3 meats, & a veggie platter. They had a variety of meat and soup selections as well. The food was delicious and a good portion for 2 people. The restaurant itself was spacious with a lot of seating. It was busy on a Wednesday evening, so it seems to be a popular spot in the area.

I recently visited Mumu Hotpot in Emeryville and found the food to be just as good as what I've enjoyed at their Pleasanton location. The ingredients were fresh, and the flavors were spot on, which is exactly what I expected from this chain. However, I did notice a few downsides. The Emeryville location seemed a bit pricier, which was surprising since I expected consistent pricing across their locations. Additionally, I was disappointed that they didn't offer soju cocktails, something I've enjoyed at other Mumu Hotpot locations. It's a small detail, but it made the experience feel less consistent, which is important for a chain restaurant. Overall, while the food quality is on par with their other locations, the higher prices and lack of some menu items like soju cocktails left me wishing for more consistency. If these differences don't bother you, Mumu Hotpot in Emeryville is still a solid choice for a hotpot meal.

updating this review as if I haven't been to mumu another 52416281 times in between. Leaving behind positive vibes for this establishment so that it never disappears:) Tips I shall leave behind to my children who may see this later - if u like meat even a lil bit, automatically get the meat lovers combo, and go all in on the short ribs. It's just the best. Sukiyaki is best for those who like sweet over spicy, green pepper for clean spicy without the oil, mala for the intense spicy greasy with more emphasis in spice, butter for greasy spicy with more emphasis in grease. Miso for picky eaters and tom yum is a good try for simply anyone who rlly likes tom yum. 10/10 recommend sukiyaki with udon bc it hits different every single time and I've had no regrets for getting this combo each of the 827252829 times. Again we love seeing more than one sauce bar at this location, as well as the plentiful staff and seating.

This is a great spot to eat delicious Chinese Hotpot! A great addition to the neighborhood. The food is all fresh and delicious. I would love to come back and celebrate a special occasion here. The meats are top notch. The veggies are fresh. Service is fantastic. Quick and attentive. It's a modern and sleek place. A bit more upscale than typical hotpot spots. Good prices.

Super clean and minimal aesthetic! I love that you can order with your phone and make your own sauce at the sauce bar. The pots are the perfect individual size and portions are good -- my favorite is the tomato soup and a spicy soy-sesame dipping sauce. Service is prompt but they can get busy in there!

We didn't have a reservation but it didn't take long for us to be seated. The restaurant is very aesthetically pleasing (the bathroom is super nice lol). The staff was very nice but you don't actually interact with them much as everything is ordered on your phone via QR, and so is payment. Since there's very little interaction with staff and they seemed quite busy, it does take a while if you need something like napkins, broth refill, etc. There's two sauce bars and they have all the standard sauces you'd want; but surprisingly, they didn't have chili oil which was a little disappointing. I got the Grape Four Season Tea (@ reg sweetness) and this was a 10/10 -- so delicious, not too sweet, & super refreshing which is perfect for a spicy / heavy meal. There was 3 of us so we ordered the Mumu's Signature & Single's Meat combo -- both was more than enough, we even took leftovers home. The quality of the meat is very good and they give you a lot of veggies so you don't really need to order more. Out of the 3 meats we tried -- Prime Black Angus Short Ribs, Wagyu Beef Toro, & 100% Kurobota Pork Collar -- the toro was the best. For the soups: - Miso (*3/5*): this tasted a little bland; especially after you cook the veggies since it becomes a little watered down. It's good to just drink as a soup but for hot pot, we preferred the other bases - Sukiyaki (*4/5*): this was so so good -- perfect balance of sweet & savory -- and great for cooking the meats in. (a lil hack, if you got a spicy broth, I'd add some of the spicy broth to the sukiyaki and it tastes even better) - Buttery Spicy (*4.5/5*): as the name implies, this was buttery & spicy & rich; compared to most spicy hot pot broths, this definitely had a kick but wasn't super spicy & didn't have a strong mala / numbing flavor to it One thing that kind of sucks is that the each broth is like an individual hot pot, it sits right in front of each person which makes it difficult to try & share the soups. If you wanted to cook your meat in a soup that wasn't in front of you, you have to reach across the entire table or be in someone else's space. Personally would've preferred a large part in the middle -- however, if you don't like sharing or mixing soups, this would be perfect for you. Overall, super yummy & would def go back.

I had Shabu Shabu years ago, wasn't impressed and never went to another hot pot type restaurant since. The last one I went to shared a pot of boiling water for the table and needed dipping sauces for flavor which basically was a spicy red sauce. Without the sauce, you basically were eating flavorless boiled meat and vegetables. Recently the family voted to dine at Mumu Hot Pot in Emeryville for our family staycation dinner. We made a reservation in advance and were sat promptly. I was pleasantly surprised. The experience was very different than what I expected. There were 6 of us which is perfect since the maximum per table holds 6 people. Each person gets their own hot pot and controls. Everybody gets to pick a broth and cook the ingredients to their own taste and preference. There is a condiment bar where you can fill up your own trays with choices such as minced garlic, green onions, soy sauce, spicy dipping sauce and a variety of other sauces and condiments. I split a meal for two with my wife and selected the sukiyaki broth which was delicious. We ordered two different Wagyu Beef cuts and one Angus beef cut. There was a wide range of vegetables including Napa cabbage, spinach, baby Bok Choy, sweet potato, broccoli, several different types of tofu/bean curd, different mushrooms and other veggies. The meal for two was too much for us so we had leftovers to take home. You scan the QR code to place your order and pay so there is minimal interaction with the staff. They kept our waters filled and brought us containers and bags to package our leftovers to take home. My first experience eating at a hot pot restaurant was better than expected. For a great meal that is healthy too, try Mumu Hot Pot. Sadly I didn't shoot as many pictures as I normally do. I was distracted with the new experience.

We were hesitant at first because we're used to AYCE Hot Pot, but we were struggling to finish the last few slices of meat in the end.  The Meat Lover Combo let's you choose 3 trays of meat, 2 noodles, and a tray of assorted veggies. They also have a great sauce bar in the back with tons of options to mix. If you like Tom Yum broth, this place has the best we've tried!
