"From the team behind Zylberschtein’s comes a certified kosher dairy deli and bakery in Seward Park, and it’s a great choice for a quick and quiet breakfast or lunch. We’re fans of the lox bagel sandwich, loaded with buttery salmon and tasty chive schmear, best had on an everything. You’ll also find dishes like a portobello reuben, tuna salad, bialys, fresh challah on Fridays, and fluffy vanilla soft serve with topping options like homemade chocolate chip cookie crumble." - Aimee Rizzo

The google reviews are correct, they cannot toast a bagel without burning it. Even when I asked for lightly toasted they burnt it. I was hungry so I didn’t ask for them to fix it, but I read that they will. That said, they are very fresh and don’t need to be toasted. Service is very friendly, but very disjointed… couldn’t find a menu, needed help on the ordering machine… that type of stuff. It wasn’t very busy and it was about 45 min after opening so there really wasn’t a reason for them to be so disorganized. The food was fine. There aren’t many bagel choices - very basic and only 2 cream cheeses (1 is plain). I would go many other places before going here again, but I wouldn’t say no to trying some other menu items. Maybe today was an off day?

Good flavor to the bagels, however the bagels were a little overbaked. Excellent customer service. Unique location - inside a bookstore and a coffee shop. Challah was a bit dry. I will be back.

Amazing food! Amazing and friendly service. Wish they were open Monday and Tuesday as we wanted more!

Good bagels, seasoning is on both sides of the bagel. Sandwiches are pretty good as well.

We’ve been to Muriel’s three times and our orders took over an hour each time. Regardless of what we ordered, last time was a bagel, this time was a tuna melt, it took over an hour regardless. We were understanding the first time because it was a little busy and new businesses take a bit to get the kinks out, but the second and third time were during weekday odd hours when the place was much calmer. Today I got a refund because they said it still wasn’t ready 65 minutes after putting in the order. We were so excited for Muriel’s to open. It’s a beautiful little spot in a great neighborhood that we were eager to support. We gave plenty of chances but unfortunately will not be returning.

I've been in here a couple of times and both times kinda sucked. The second time I was told I had to order online by a gal at the front desk, I order a basic bagel with cream cheese though the website. After waiting about 7 minutes I saw there was a counter in the corner where people were placing orders and picking up I went to the counter and asked about how much longer on my order I was told probably 10 to 15 more minutes. It should not take 20 + minutes to make a bagel with cream cheese. If the lady had just pointed me to the counter in the first place I could have asked how long the wait but instead I was told I could only order online. Seems very unorganized. Also don't get me started on the fact that they are charging 18.50 for a damn bagel with lox, that's all. no chips or drink with that just the sandwich. that's absolutely ridiculous. All that being said I will most likely not be returning till they fix the outrageous prices and get a better system in place for ordering.

Love this cute co-location with Chuck's and Third Place Books. Poppyseed bagel with lox and cream cheese was delicious, if slightly overpriced, but that bagel is SO GOOD. Slightly chewy, but not hard or too soft/squishy and the right level of salt. Would have been nice if there was a list of bagel flavors, but maybe I just missed it on the menu in my excitement to try their food. Partner got Israeli toast and promptly wished he could have another one, it was so tasty.

We've gotten food while having a beer at Chuck's, and it was good. But limited hours so we usually only have whatever food truck is there. Stopped by for a bagel with cream cheese. It was definitely overbaked. The sesame seeds were close to burnt which makes them bitter. Also, to people saying "real Jewish bagels are chewy", yes but growing up eating bagels from some of the best bagel places in NYC, I can tell you it should not be an exercise for your jaw. I got half a dozen everything bagels to go and sadly they were in the same condition. Burnt on the bottom for sure and overbaked. Making perfect bagels is not easy, even for professionals. But if you burn a batch you have to consider not selling them. Sucks with the cost of everything going up these days, but eventually people will stop buying them if it's going to be hit or miss. I really want them to succeed in that spot, but their bagel making needs to improve.
