Classic Creole fare in a 19th-century building with old-world elegance, plus a Sunday jazz brunch.
"This French Quarter classic overlooks Jackson Square and serves classic New Orleans fare with many a gluten-free option. Roasted cauliflower, blackened redfish, and creme brulee are just a few choices available at Muriel’s. Or hit up brunch for a brandy milk punch and shrimp and grits in a smoky tomato butter sauce." - Beth D'Addono, Eater Staff
"NEW ORLEANS This New Orleans Creole restaurant claims they’re haunted, and they even keep a table for their resident ghost. While the whole experience might sound like the plot of a PG-rated Disney movie, drinking a cocktail in the dark and moody séance lounge with a glimmering spirit named Pierre is a classic New Orleans experience. They also have a live jazz brunch on Sundays—which might seem a little avant-garde for the spirits of the early 1800s who haunt the place." - anne cruz
"This Creole restaurant claims they’re haunted, and they even keep a table for their resident ghost. While the whole experience might sound like the plot of a PG-rated Disney movie, this is about as classic of a New Orleans experience as you can get. Drink a cocktail in the dark and moody, second-floor seance lounge or on the patio overlooking Jackson Square, and then settle in at a candle-lit table for some seafood gumbo and redfish with smoked andouille salad. They also have a live jazz brunch on Sundays—which might seem a little avant-garde for the spirits of the early 1800s who haunt the place." - zella palmer, carlo mantuano, megan braden perry
"Muriel’s is so kid-friendly that a portion of the restaurant’s website is devoted to saying that children are welcome. The thing about it that makes it really special for kids is that there’s a table set for a ghost. The kids’ menu covers the basics: chicken tenders, French fries, fried shrimp, mashed potatoes, grilled chicken breast, and pasta Alfredo. For the adults, there’s a lovely menu with shrimp and grits, turtle soup, gumbo, pecan-encrusted fish, and more." - Clair Lorell, Eater Staff
