Everyone Has an Opinion About the East Village’s New Beef Patty Shop - Eater NY

"Murphy’s has been attracting fans and skeptics with its well-designed interior and $6 Jamaican patties. The patty shop, which is partially Black-owned, sources its patties from a Flatbush bakery and offers them in beef, curry chicken, and vegetable varieties. Despite its high price point and controversy around its ownership, Murphy’s continues to draw customers from various parts of the city." - Luke Fortney

Manhattan has some of the best eats in the world and now having Murphy’s in the neighborhood has made it even better. The menu is small with only 5 things on the menu, but everything is amazing! We had the Beef patty, chicken curry patty and the veggie patty with the homemade lemonade. Everything was outstanding! Highly recommend this place.

Since everyone was raving about Murphy's I decided to give them a try. They are known for their Jamaican patties and coco bread🇯🇲. Also they make fresh squeeze lemonade🍋 on the spot. I didn't like the lemonade🍋 way to sour for my taste. The patties options they have are beef, curry chicken and a veggie patties I brought all 3 options with an extra beef totaling 4 and my family and I enjoyed the Jamaican patties 🇯🇲with coco bread. I will be back.

Cute little spot in East village and their Jamaican Pattie’s are so good! They have a beef, chicken, and veggie one which the beef one is my fave. The shells of the Pattie’s are nice and flakey and they’re served to you hot! Dont forget about their coco buns as well. They also have great coffee, tea and lemonade options!

As a NYer this is patty was severely underwhelming, the patty is the exact taste of the freezer patties you would find in the grocery stores. Even if it was on Madison ave that would never justify the price of $6, oh yeah plus tax. A patty should not pass $3.50 I would never suggest to go here, there's way too much patty options in NY to settle for this subpar patty. Only reason i bought it because i kept seeing it on social media. Don't waste your money here!

Jamaican me crazy Thanks @murphysnewyork for inviting me to try authentic Jamaican patties! Their patties come in chicken, beef, & veggie, and complimented by delicious sauces like spicy pepper, spiced vinegar, and cashew cream. You can watch them get baked right behind the counter along with some coco bread, a traditional sweet bread made with coco flour. Plus they’re making homemade lemonade right on the counter.

If you know Jamaican patties, like KNOW real Jamaican patties, these will be meh for you. The patties are just … ok. It’ll satisfy the craving but you don’t need to go out your way for these, especially at that price. I had the lentil and the veggie and spent $14. I would go for lentil over veggie, though the crust was super flaky. Wish I had a chance to try the shrimp but it was sold out.

Murphy’s was founded with the aim of bringing high-quality Jamaican style patties to lower Manhattan. Murphy’s gives you the opportunity to enjoy the fresh flavor of Jamaica. Their half moon shaped flaky pastries and coco bread will leave you feeling good & obsessed with wanting more. They offer some of the best Jamaican beef, chicken, and vegan patties in lower Manhattan. I got the curry chicken patty and it was so good. Patties cost only $6. Check this place out, you’ll LOVE it!

This was my first time having one and I was not disappointed! We got the chicken and the Coco bread. The space is small but not too busy at the time we went. Cute little seating area outside on the street. Good spot to people watch and see lots of cute dogs. The young lady working behind the counter was super friendly and helpful in making the choice between chicken or beef.
