"Murray's seems to import every conceivable cheese in production for public consumption, and has a staff that can happily walk you through (and sample) all of them. There are cheese cave tours offered for those who want to learn even more and delicious sandwiches—or melts—for anyone who wants more than just a few hunks of the good stuff. While they supply most of Manhattan with their cheese plate offerings, they also ship across the states. The original and main location is in the West Village."

Google
As a southerner where pimento cheese is a favorite sandwich or placed on crackers for a snack, I googled where could I find it in Manhattan. Google ranked Murray’s Cheese as the number one source for the best pimento cheese. I might like mine with a little more mayonnaise and a dash of hot sauce with my pimento’s minced BUT every good southerner doctors theirs the way it suits them best. I like mine in white bread like Pepperidge farm with the crust cut off, or slather it on a stick of celery or on a cucumber slice. I also sometimes add a little olive or a hard boiled egg or even a bit of relish to make it different. But I can tell you since I went back and bought more, MURRAYS CHEESE STORE, has a very good base. I also couldn’t find it but the young clerk jumped to find it for me. I selfishly ate the first batch by myself without a cocktail. I just wanted a pimento cheese fix and this DID IT!

Google
Beyond having the best cheeses and cuts in NY, they have outstanding service. We ordered delivery and there was an error in the order, but they made up for it well beyond it wad needed, proving they are customer first and the best Charcuterie store in NYC. Outstanding.

Google
You don’t serve prosciutto cut like this to the clients. I didn’t see this as the prosciutto was already wrapped, or you would have throw this away. Shameful

This place is a wonderful cheese shop! 🧀 Murray's Cheese in Grand Central Station 🚉 is a perfect pitspot 🚏 for cheese lovers! 😍 They have an endless selection of delicious 🤤 cheese, meat 🍖, pickles 🥒, and more! Definitely grab a small charcuterie board box 🍱 to try out a variety of cheeses. The staff 👨‍🍳 is friendly and helpful and the service is quick! ⏲️ I wish I came here more often!

Google
Went in this morning for some blue cheese: counter man gave me tasting samples - he was polite, knowledge, patient while I tried to decide what sample I liked best and made my shopping experience a pleasure. Whenever I shop there all the people I deal with are friendly and seem to love cheese as I do. Everyone is consistently pleasant, helpful, polite and professional. Loyal and happy customer.

Google
Murray’s Cheese has such a large variety of cheese, that there’s something for everyone! This is my go to spot to find new cheeses, the staff is very friendly and knowledgeable, especially when you want to find a new type of cheese to try!

Google
"We had to do five stars, but really we wanted to give you guys 10 million. Your cheese is so delicious and you guys are super, super nice!" --customer/huge fan of Murray's, age 6

Google
I have bought many a kilo of cheese here. Service is inconsistent. Some staff are super kind and helpful, offering tastes, special packaging etc while others just wave you off to whichever cheese you enquire about. Just look out for the friendlier faces. They also need to up the QC a bit: today’s 3 year Comte was incredibly salty.

Yelp
I never host a get together at my apartment without stopping by here first. It's especially nice if/when it's a little slow at the market and you have time to really chat with the people there. They are incredibly knowledgeable and make great recommendations.

Mel L.

Yelp
The products here are great, but what really stands out is the customer service that the manager Jessie provides. He really seems to care about customers and wants his employees to do the same. We need more people like Jessie, as he is probably the nicest store manager I've met in my entire life.

Yelp
Murray's Cheese is a great spot to get a variety of cheese. The staff is super helpful in learning more about the different types to select the right one. It is a bit pricier there, but you'll get quality cheese

Amalfis M.

Yelp
Love their cheeses and their staff! My favorite is the Muenster and cheddar but the feta is excellent too
google avatar

Hank C.

Yelp
Located in the market, this Murray's renowned for the cheese is hidden away in the marketplace and ready to enjoy, no sampling here and two counter registers that move people efficiently, the cheese is great and about the same prices as the West Village shop.

Yelp
Visiting from California, we were doing the typical visit of Grand Central Station. My husband and I decided to pick up some cheese, crackers and wine and head to Central Park for an impromptu lunch. The question is, how to choose cheese that we've never tried? Enter ISABEL. She was amazing at giving recommendations, asking us what we like and giving us samples. We walked away with a couple brie and salami varieties and headed out happy not only with our choices but also more knowledgeable. A spot to definitely try when at Grand Central.

Yelp
I'm a big fan of cheese; it's not uncommon to find blocks in my fridge, and whenever I find myself in the vicinity of a gourmet cheese shop I can't help but take a step in to explore. I was in Manhattan doing some shopping (in the middle of a snowstorm - kudos to me for making great choices, right?) and was looking for a little reprieve before heading home. I was exploring the Grand Central Market and noticed that Murray's had a stand here, so I thought some therapeutic cheese was the perfect remedy to decompress once my journey home was complete. Prior to my visit, I had not been to Murray's in years; my most recent Murray's excursion was at their Cheese Bar (a sit-down eatery) when it was located in Greenwich Village. It has since moved to Queens, but they still have a shop in the village. Because of the storm, it was not crowded at all which gave me the opportunity to check out all the cheeses in full view before making a selection. The variety they carry is vast - almost overwhelming but they keep the cheeses separated by type which makes picking one out easier. I ultimately decided to pick up a blue and a cheddar - neither were cheap, but the quality was totally there. It really maintained my faith that Murray's sources some of the best cheeses and gives one access to a large variety. In addition to the cheese, they also have a small selection of jams and accents to build a board. Service was great - I was taken care of promptly and the cheeses were wrapped meticulously which helped protect them from the elements on my way home. Overall, my short dive back into Murray's was a positive one; this has really inspired me to revisit their main shop and Cheese Bar. Even if you can't make it downtown, you're getting the real deal right here at GCM.

Yelp
I love this place! So many diverse cheeses and the people there are so knowledgeable and nice. Always a pleasure!

Yelp
I love Murray's. Have done for years as a commuter through Grand Central. I think the COVID shutdowns have really changed this place. There used to be a bustle behind the counter, with enthusiastic salespeople waiting to help the next customer. On the last two occasions, the staff is sleepy and lackadaisical -except for the one lady who's been there a while - and would rather talk to each other instead of acknowledging the people waiting to get meat sliced or cheeses cut. The message is almost, "If I make you wait long enough, maybe you'll go to the refrigerator displays and leave us alone." I can't figure out if business has been too good or awful to warrant this new depressed vibe, but it's not working for me. Maybe the other locations are different. I don't know, and I don't plan on going out of my way to find out. Maybe management could step in and give the people a pep talk or impart some basic retail skills. A happy customer will always spend more.

Yelp
Incredible selection of cheeses and dairy products located in the Grand Central Market. Murray's always has the freshest and widest selection of cheeses, but usually in the market style booths stores have limited products. This is not the case for Murray's. They also do a good job of packaging to-go charcuterie boards if you need a quick snack or want to eat a bite with friends.
google avatar

Kevin K.

Yelp
Great place for getting rare cheese like black truffle Brie but besides that it's extremely over priced for a majority of there cheeses that you can buy in any other borough outside of Manhattan for far cheaper.

Louan L.

Yelp
Thank you Murray's! I live out of state and wanted to have a nice cheese/meat tray delivered to a friend in Manhattan. I had the Italian picnic platter delivered. Ordering online was easy and I was able to track the delivery which was the day I ordered! my friend sent a picture of the tray and it was beautiful. What a perfect experience. You will not be disappointed!

Yelp
My fondest cheese memory was working in NYC almost 20 years ago. And while passing time and waiting for my train in Grand Central, I stopped here and was offered a sample of Gruyère with Fig Jam. After that, it's been pure lust with Gruyère (and so many other Cheeses). But hubby stops here to grab a few cheeses to bring home at least once a week, before hopping on the Metro North. While also picking up Roquefort, Comté or Taleggio- among others. Other times, hubby switches things up and picks up Spanish Cheeses like Mahón, Arzúa or Manchego. Focus here is on all things Fromage- but Murray's also carries unique Jams, Kerrygold and Arethusa Butter- plus so much other stuff. No...Grand Central doesn't have a cellar (I don't think) where they age their cheeses- but they do have an excellent stock of domestic and international cow, sheep and goat Cheeses which we really like. For the sake of ease and access, this is the perfect one-stop Cheese shop. And if you're looking for American Cheese or Cheese Wiz...this ain't it.

Diane R.

Yelp
I went to Murray's and arrived at 7:12p.m. they had put away all the parmigian-reggiano cheese. I ask why? We are closing soon. They went in the back to come out with one in there hand. Parmigiano-reggiano cheese comes in many different sizes and prices. This is so wrong because they close at 8:00p.m. 4 people standing around and doing nothing but on there phone.

Yelp
If you like cheese, this is Nirvana. I may have lined my pockets with the roasted tomatoes.....oh the buratta AND THERE RESERVE GOUDA

Yelp
Expansive selection of cheeses along with a selection of meats at a full service counter. The description tags are helpful, as is the ability to sample anything before you buy it. The staff behind the counter can also offer you advice/direction for your picks if you need help. However, the staff does seem to expect you to purchase at least a quarter pound of anything you end up deciding on. They defaulted to trying to cut us a half pound and we'd have to keep saying less until around a quarter pound. They also start to rush you to wrap up around half an hour before closing so they can start cleaning up shop. Some of my favorite cheeses here include the Roomano, the Ewephoria, the Sottocenere, The Brebirousse D'Argental, and the Young Goat Gouda. A must try meat is the Salami Etna. It provides surprising elements of lemon zest and pistachio that work quite well with the salami.

Yelp
**This is a customer service review** Product is top noch. I am a really loyal customer to Murrays and today I experienced the WORST customer service ever at the Grand Central location. Today Sunday March 15th. I always spend an average of $90/order and I go at least every 2/3weeks. The place closes at 6. I got there at 5.40 and there were no line so I was helped inmediately by an senior lady. Lady was being really slow but i didn't say a word I checked my watch several times since I knew that with that speed it will run over 6pm and I value MY TIME. There was a young lady (in her 20s) wearing a pink t-shirt that told me that you need to be patience and let her do her job. I said to her: yeah, but you close at 6 right and I have a bunch of things that i need (just so you know) AND ALSO, I DIDN'T SAY ANYTHING/COMPLAINED. She gave me a look. I was getting really annoyed because there were LITERALLY 5 more people doing NOTHING. Wandering around, cheking their phones. 3 customers more came and one couple in the line asked if there alre someone else helping out. They replied no. By 6 pm that pink tshirt lady rang the bell saying the market is close and left. Waiting to my helper to finish. By 6.05 a guy came to help the couple since OBVIOUSLY the lady helping me was still not available. They were cleaning ip and removing the tags from the deli meats and i told him to not remove one of them because i will need it since i will be ordering it. But hey, 5 people over there waiting for us to finish instead of trying to help out and save everyone's time. By 6.15 I was still there. Market almost closed and my helper finally finished. It turned out that pink tshirt lady was the cashier too. She was RUDE AND HAVE A CONDESCENDING LOOK. When she printed the ticket she made the movement to hand it over me (while i was saying THANKS) and then moved the hand away with sarcastic smile and put it in the bag. I am like.. what? SO CHILDISH. Can do anything else than feel sorry for her. And NO, it is not coronavirus related since I wouldnt touch her hand and none of them were wearing masks (which was disappointing given that they cut your meats, but fine!)

Yelp
Anytime I visit grand central I end up finding myself at Murray's cheese stand to pick up a few favorites. There is a great variety of cheeses to choose from in the center of the midtown conveniently located near multiple transit options. The system is pretty quick and makes sense - take a paper ticket number and once called you will be helped. Prior to covid I have been able to try multiple cheeses and found new favorites to my list - if you are into a good affordable cheddar, prairie breeze is a great option for a white cheddar and is cheese board approved! The pecorino toscana is also one of my favorites!

Yelp
As an occasional GCT commuter, I've stopped by Murray's an inordinate number of times, even if I'm not intentionally looking for cheese. (I forget to check in though because I literally just come here all the time). My visits to Murray's have escalated since my friend told me about the little basket of small (0.1-0.2 lbs) cheeses that are generally a few dollars each. I love going through the basket and picking up a hunk to try. The cheesemongers are really great and knowledgeable; in order to get to them, however, make sure to grab a ticket so they can call your number and help you. Yesterday, I stopped by to see if I could pick up the Lait Bloomer and the White Lakes Sheep Rustler, which I had checked out on the website; the cheesemonger told me that they were out of both, but she recommended two similar ones that were excellent. I went home with a chunk of White Lakes Rachel and a small hunk of Severac. I usually get my groceries from Freshdirect, and the same cheeses are generally cheaper on Freshdirect, though Murray's has a much greater variety and cheesemongers who will give you samples and tell you about the different cheeses. Murray's Cheese also sells a fantastic array of products besides cheese; they have duck fat, various forms of dairy including mascarpone and crème fraiche, and a lot of excellent charcuterie, including pates from Les Trois Cochons. Since I anticipate not being a GCT commuter much longer, I'm really excited that they're opening a shop in LIC, a few blocks from where I live. :)

Yelp
I'm almost embarrassed to admit the amount of time I spend at this cheese counter on a monthly basis! I work nearby so I make frequent visits when I'm in the market. First off the staff is incredibly patient and helpful. I usually ask for recommendations and they always offer a sample to make sure I like what I'm getting. They have such a huge selection and frequently get new cheeses in stock - they even have sales from time to time! If you don't have time to make your selections from the counter they also have an area with pre cut varieties and a nice array of charcuterie boards. In addition to cheese they have a ton of different spreads, oils, and fresh bread.

Yelp
I first found out about Murray Cheese when I walked by their other location and loved it. As someone who commonly commutes to Grand Central, I recently found out that Murray's Cheese was also located there too! Murray's Cheese is the perfect one-stop-shop to pick up all your cheese and charcuterie board needs, especially on your way somewhere after getting off at GC. I only wish they were open a little longer as sometimes I can't make it there in time after work. If you're interested in getting some fresh cut meat or cheeses, you have to grab a number and wait for it to be called for someone to help you. They have a pretty vast cheese selection and most of the people who've worked with me have had a good grasp on cheeses that I'm looking for -whether it be spicy, something more nutty, mild, hard, etc. I've occasionally asked what 3 cheeses might go well together on a cheese plate to complement each other but also add diversity and variety. They'll pick out a couple cheeses and you can try some and decide if you'd like some! Their meats selection is a little less than their cheeses, but still great place to get everything fresh and all together. I like their aged prosciutto. Also great place to pick up some jams and crackers for the plate if you're into that as well. Things can get a little pricy here but it's worth it if you're looking to get everything all together in one go.

Yelp
Nestled within Grand Central Terminal's market is a Murray's Cheese outlet and so convenient to stop there a few minutes before your train departs to pick up a selection of delicious cheeses and charcuterie for the trip back home. On this post-Christmas visit, we took advantage of said convenience and stocked up on some goodies for our annual New Year's Eve party. From the large and unique selection, we took a very buttery and soft Brie-like cheese, a mild bleu, and on the advice of the counterman, a firm but flavorful gouda. I also got some of their pate de campagne, meaty and luscious. Of course, who can't resist getting a half pound of their Iberico jamon (at 129 $/lb! But life is too short to short oneself ... ), the king of charcuterie, better than prosciutto di parma by far. And I love the service - the countermen are happy to give you a taste - even of the Iberico jamon! (I estimate 1 thin slice to be about 2 bucks). Even if you don't want to splurge there, it's still fun to browse!

Yelp
I received this package today from a friend as a thank you. For starters she sent the perfect gift and she chose the perfect spot. Not only were the cheese and product selections amazing the presentation and packaging were beautiful. It was over the top and not necessary for my friend to do but it made my day. I highly recommend

Yelp
A great place for really fresh cheese and the workers are very knowledgeable, helpful and friendly.

Yelp
Paco was so amazing and attentive and helpful, very knowledgeable and advised parings and what my pallet was craving, he hit the umami I for my taste buds love this place and the restaurant is good too

Yelp
I am a big fan of cheese and this store has a great selection. The folks behind the counter are really knowledgeable and friendly as well. I came here a while back when I was organizing a wine and cheese party with a group of friends. They helped me customize my selection to the number of people attending, decide the number of cheeses to select, and gave me their opinion on cheeses they would recommend given the guests at my party. My party was a big success. I even had some friends who were skeptical about trying unknown foods decide to sample, and ultimately enjoy, new varieties of cheese. My picture shows what I ultimately bought. Everyone wanted to know where I'd bought my cheese!

Yelp
Murray's Cheese is the only reason I ever stop by the Grand Central Market. Its very busy here during a friday afternoon when everyone is grabbing cheese and crackers for their night in. However during the rest of week, it is manageable to try a few cheeses and decide on what you want to bring home.

Kammy Windy Town W.

Yelp
I bought cheeses dozen times here... Good thing is ,since they are on the Geand Central Market,I can keep cheese fresh till I got home all the way by Metro North train to Westchester. Today I found Epoisee on sale, only 18.99. If I buy this at Whole foods nearby, they sell it $24.99....

Yelp
Grand Central Market is just a fun experience overall. Are the prices above average? Absolutely, but so is the quality of the food you'll find there. Murray's Cheese is one of the stands that makes me happy to work in midtown Manhattan. Since I started working in this area five years ago, I have made it a point to visit Murray's at least once a week. Sometimes it's to sample their products (which they do at least twice a week) and other times it's to go on a crazy cheese shopping spree. I've never been disappointed with a purchase here, and I think that says a lot about any food establishment. Murray's has quite a variety of items. Sure, cheese is their primary stock and trade, but they also have pate and a ton of the stuff that goes *with* cheese. Crackers, dried fruits, nuts and so on are all on tap for you to purchase. The variety is wide-ranging enough that I've spent twenty minutes at the stand just looking everything over. Even if you don't buy, it's quite the experience! I love Murray's and now if you'll pardon me, I have some wonderful Bucheron Goat cheese I purchased tonight that is calling to me...

Yelp
Finally, my nearly three-year quest for the coveted Gjetost cheese has come to an end! After sampling this fudgy/creamy cheese sliced paper thin over apple slices, I've been endlessly hunting around NYC looking for it. After walking into their bigger, original location (here: http://www.yelp.com/biz/murrays-cheese-shop-new-york), I found out they didn't have what I was looking for, but that didn't stop me from grabbing one of their signature cheese melts before heading to their Grand Central Market location. Delicious! Overall, their staff are very friendly and accommodating, and they're not hesitant to offer and give out free samples of their cheeses by weight. Prices are reasonable for your more "regular" cheeses, but if you're looking for something more exotic, be ready to pay!
google avatar

Kimberli M.

Yelp
From Bucheron and Camembert to Mimolette and Manchego... This is one of my favorite places to explore cheese! Pick up a lot or a little and pop round the corner to fetch a bottle of wine. That right there is the start of a great night! The staff is friendly and knowledgeable. Great location in the Grand Central Market -- many tasty shops to explore here!
google avatar

Yelp
I bought a picnic bag from Murray's and it comes with 3 cheese, cold cuts, cookies and some olives. I just tried the aged cheese and it is so stinky!!! I can still smell it on my fingers but strangely, it is quite addictive! I had to cut more to satisfy my craving. Also tried the pecorino cheese and it is a little harder but goes well with crackers too. I still yet to try the prosciutto and the olives. I am sure they will be great as well!
google avatar

Dan R.

Yelp
Cheese of every description. Deli packs galore of vacuum sealed charcuterie. Jars of gourmet mustards, catsups, pickles, mayos, sauces -on and on and on. Nice friendly sales guys. Prices, don't ask - it's NYC.......

Ingrid N.

Yelp
I have been shopping at Murray's in Grand Central since they opened and must spend $100's during the year on everything from cheese to dairy and even the best dried apricots. Never a problem and the staff on the check-out are always very good and it does get crazy busy. This afternoon I took a number, waited, and was basically ignored as the guy behind the counter clearly had someone in front of him he would prefer to serve! I asked for assistance a couple of times and then gave up. It wasn't a particularly busy time either. Disappointing.
google avatar

Alferd P.

Yelp
It's Murray's so that means the selection of cheeses is great, as is their quality and the staff is knowledgeable and, usually, efficient. That also means that prices are really high but that likely doesn't matter to the Westchester, Dutchess and Fairfield County commuters who are rolling in dough or tourists who are on a spending binge. Quality definitely comes at a price here.
google avatar

R S.

Yelp
I miss this place! Was a Long time regular, now just when in the area. Okay on the pricey side but this is not simply a place to get great cheese, this is an experience. Keep the great service going

Yelp
I've been meaning to get to the W. Village forever for Murray's, but haven't gotten around to it yet. So when I found out there was a shop at grand central, I was thrilled. Stopped by and browsed around, went home with a St Marcellin ($6.99) in a little ceramic container and two Bee Raw honeys ($13.99)! http://www.murrayscheese.com/st-marcellin.html# How did I live without you before?

E. K.

Yelp
The cheesemonger was amazing. Super nice and helpful. The customer service reps should really stop screaming. I had a question to ask them, but they just keep screaming that the line was to one side. I thought people at the customer service stand were to supposed to help the customers? Maybe that's just me.
google avatar

Phoebe M.

Yelp
Great location, right at Grand Central perfect for tourists! They have great stuff for sale... went a little overboard with the cheese and nuts but the people who got it loved everything. I rewarded myself with some fancy cheese too and loved the reusable bag I purchased!

Tatyana D.

Yelp
Murray's cheese is amazing. I've been there to buy cheese before, and have also been to the classes they host which were so fun! However, this weekend we had them cater the cocktail hour at our wedding and now are even more in love. We ordered a cheese tower through their catering department. None of the pre-set towers met our needs, so we called to get a custom one made. Leigh helped me figure out cheeses that are all made with vegetable rennet as per my request, and that went well together in terms of both taste and appearance. We also added some crudites and a mezze platter and bread boxes. The cheese was totally a hit. It looked beautiful and everyone loved it. On top of that, we instructed our Day of Coordinator to tip the delivery guy and he wouldn't take the tip, since they charge a delivery fee. Basically, Murray's is wonderful and we would recommend them 100%.

Yelp
Murray's Cheese is the definitive expert on dairy delights. This location in Grand Central Market is rather large and very popular. Grab a ticket from the middle of the cheese and salami counter and wait to be called. Peruse the hundreds of options they have in the case or prewrapped in the cold to-go cases. Chat up the celebrated cheesemongers and don't be shy about asking for a sample. Grab your order and check out at the register. Overall its a New York style cheese shop experience because you can be throwing elbows at times, but the service is so fast and chipper that you leave feeling like you learned something new and are carrying a delicious treasure to share at home. Prices are par with most NYC cheese shops and they carry exceptional varieties that make it worth a stop!

Chatbodin N.

Yelp
A great and legendary cheese shop in a great neighborhood. Even if you are just visiting NYC you should definitely head down to Bleeker St and walk up and down the street to check out the cool shops. Of course Murray's is one that you can't miss. When you walk in, the abundant assortment of cheeses and the wonderful intoxicating aroma may overwhelm you, but the staff here is awesome and will gladly assist you even you know nothing at all about cheese. Luckily I am a local and can get here pretty often to satisfy my cheese cravings. The have a very nice assortment of accoutrements as well. I love this place!
google avatar

Jenn S.

Yelp
Great HUGE selection of cheeses, very knowledgeable and nice staff and love that they don't roll their eyes at you when you ask for a tasting of ANY of the cheeses :) Even their small cold case dairy section is kick ass, come on they have wisconsin cheese curds on hand as well as clotted cream!!! I also like that I can do an impromptu picnic and pick up cheese, crackers, and pate all from one shop.

Yelp
Haven't been to the flagship location on Bleecker, but the Grand Central location is wonderful! The staff will make your day. They are all so patient, kind, and helpful. And the cheeses! I was looking for raw, grassfed cheeses and found way more options than I could have hoped for. I also love how all their cheeses come with descriptions, so the consumer knows exactly what he/she is buying. I came home with a bundle of cheeses, and if I didn't have to meet friends for dinner before coming home, I would've bought a bunch of items from their grassfed yogurt/kefir/butter selection in the refrigerated section as well. I love Murray's. =) Now I just have to make it over to their cheese classes and cheesebar before I leave this city!

Yelp
I really love to come here, it's a perfect place for a cheese lover like me. They don't just have your normal cheeses you find at the old boring supermarket, they also have all sorts of meats, fresh microwaveable food, fresh bread and all sorts of neat edibles. I like that they can give you a little sample of cheese or meat to taste.Customer service was really good too. I don't really remember his name but last time I stopped a young man by the name Edward or Edwin was really nice and helpful. The other employees are just as great.

Yelp
My favorite cheese shop in Manhattan which also has amazing cured meats. Excellent variety and staff is very knowledgeable which can be helpful when pairing cheese and salumeria.

Yelp
Bought Buratta today which rushed worker went into case to get for me as areas were not accessible to customers and when I got home and unpacked it saw the expiration was for two days from now. Unacceptable. It will now go to waste as I didn't plan to eat it until the weekend. Water packed Buratta is always dated very far out so this was obviously sitting on the shelf for a very long time. I often buy from Murray's but not sure I will any more. Not a happy customer.

Yelp
There must be a sign on my head as I walk to the cheese counter that says, "this guy will buy everything you offer to let him try, he can't help himself". I gave myself a pep talk yesterday before walking up to the counter, and even had a list, my one piece of cheese listed on a sheet of paper to try to enforce some sort of resemblance of discipline. It said, "one half wheel hudson flower". Well the nice young lady had a piece of cheese in her hand and it looked like mimolette, well I asked, and she let me try, rinse wash and repeat, and I walked out with almost 2lbs of cheese... Anyways..... Murrays on Bleeker and Murray's Cheese Bar are two of my most favorite places in the world. I had not really considered their counter at the Grand Central Market, but last night I wanted some cheese without the commute to Bleeker. First, they have everything at the counter that they have on Bleeker. There is a huge selection of precut cheeses as well along with the same accoutrements they carry in the shop, but the cut to order counter has EVERYTHING. Secondly, the service is just fantastic. With all of the hustle and bustle going on in Grand Central they stop, and take the time to make your cheese purchasing experience the highlight of your day, regardless of all the hurried people hustling by. They tell you about the cheeses, let you try what you'd like, and make it into a fun experience all while being efficient and keeping the line moving quickly. I am a sucker for Murray's and I always purchase 2-3x what I had planned on, but I am not ashamed. It is a wonderful place. And whoever the nice young lady was working on 7/16 around 5pm..... giver her a raise.

Yelp
This stop in Grand Central Market is likely going to be the complete and utter death of me, or at least my wallet. Between the free samples, and the recommendations, and the sales, it's amazing I haven't gained 30 pounds from eating ten times my body weight in cheese, or at least developed a serious lactose intolerance problem from overindulgence. I am sure one or both of those is just around the corner, but for now, I'll just keep coming back for more! The staff is amazingly knowledgeable, and can help you pick out the perfect cheese for just about anything - snacking, sandwiches, to go with a special (or not so special) bottle of wine, you name it! They have some epic jams and other accompaniments for cheese as well. Just trust the experts, they won't steer you wrong.

Yelp
What can I say Murray's is the crack that draws me to the Grand Central Market so often. Every time I go I get cheese and condiments ,either from the knowledgable staff's suggestions, or from the myriad tastings they have. They have turned me onto awesome honeys and cheeses I would never have tried. Goat caramels are awesome. They also have a steady supply of artisanal breads. If I had a cooler I would buy more to take home with me. Very friendly and well run operation. Love it!
