"Musashi’s is what a neighborhood sushi spot should be — no frills, no over-the-top rolls, just fresh, flavorful fish at chill prices. The thing to pay attention to here is the nigiri special: For $13 at lunch and $16 at dinner you get a selection of nigiri plus some rolls, which surely ranks as one of the most appealing under-$20 meals in town. (Musashi’s is actually something of a chain with seven locations in Washington State and Oregon and even one in Corona, California.)" - Meg van Huygen, Eater Staff

Google
The food and price are the star of the show here. Incredibly reasonably priced, very fresh sushi, quick service. Lots of take out but we sat (order at counter and they server you). Even the hot green tea was great, large super hot carafe. Limited street parking.

Google
I had high hopes before visiting, but it turned out to be more of a great spot for students. The lunch menu was an absolute steal at just $12.50, and the rest of the menu was very reasonably priced. However, I wasn’t entirely convinced about the quality of the sushi. There was also too much rice compared to the sushi itself. Overall, it’s a good option for a quick and affordable lunch.

Alvin Nguyen

Google
The sushi we had was good; we ordered nigiri dinners, an unagi, an inari, a tamago, and a seared sake. The tamago piece was just okay; a little harder than the soft texture of tamago I’m used to. The restaurant was pretty empty when we arrived. We had to pay up front so we did and tipped pretty well. But then we didn’t get any service when we were there. We had to keep refilling our water. The restaurant being busy cannot be used as an excuse here.

Anna Ross

Google
Lovely little sushi spot, and I do mean little, there isn’t too much seating but I find that adds to the charm. Fish was great quality for a good price, and I appreciated the hot tea upon sitting down.

Dennis

Google
The sushi was top tier. Salmon was to die for, fresh and melts in your mouth. Miso soup was good as well. Reasonable prices for the quality of the sushi and serving size. Quaint place, chill vibe. No longer cash only, now credit card only. Visiting from out of town but will come back to Musashi when back in town. Highly recommend.

Google
A few week ago I visited there..A very rude guy server ruined whole experience here. My family waited outside for dinner. He got inside to open it first, but didn't say anything about the open. After a few minute waiting out there, I asked him politely, but he just pointed with his chin, with blunt voices. I hated I have to pay tip in advance when I ordered before we didn't get any services. Of course after we finished our meal and left, he didn't say anything. Felt like we were ghosts. I used to visit there when I was a UW student, and I wanted to bring my daughter for shaing my memories. But it was ruined by him and I don't want to visit there again. Goodbye my memories !!

Google
Very affordable for the quality of fish they serve. Everything we ordered was fresh and delicious. The chirashi bowl was definitely the star of the show!

Google
This place is an absolute gem! The quality of their sushi is exceptional, and their prices are very reasonable. I've been going there for years, and the fish is always fresh and delicious. I highly recommend Musashi's to anyone who is looking for a great sushi experience and also the Chirashi bowl and Nigiri sets!

Yelp
Love this place!! A solid sushi place with good price and portion.. fish's are fresh!!

Matt K.

Yelp
Good for cheap takeout, but honestly, didn't love it. Got the chirashi bowl but just didn't love the taste of the fish. The salmon was good, better than the other fish in the bowl.

Maxine L.

Yelp
Musashi's is a staple sushi spot with consistently good quality fish at super reasonable prices. But you get what you pay for! The nigiris have waaaay too much rice and the rice is not that great. But can't beat the fish quality for the price. Service is also good. You order and pay at the counter. The food came out super quick as well. Will continue coming here for sure. But took off a star because of the rice which is such a simple issue to fix.

Yelp
Went here for lunch on a Friday and the place filled up pretty quick, def seems like a popular to go spot. We ordered a bunch of dishes and they all came out pretty fast. The service was nice and quick. It's a nice spot with lots of windows and a handful of tables and we liked the vibe. Overall everything we had was good, the sushi pieces are larger than I expected. The California roll had egg in it which I wasn't used to and not sure if I like but more bang for your buck. I was also a bit disappointed rhat they didn't have any fun or unique spot but I also appreciate how it's just good basics. Would go again!

Yelp
Would want to give this place 3.5/5 stars! Came for the chirashi bowls recommended by a friend. Good value for the amount of fish received/how thick the slices were. All under $20. We liked the salmon that tasted pretty fresh and buttery. Shrimp, unagi, albacore, and yellowtail were solid as well. Tuna however had an unexpected fishy after taste, which made my overall impression lower. Service was fast and friendly. We even received complimentary miso soup because they ran out of hot tea!

kim d.

Yelp
Really great price for the quantity of fish! We ordered a hamachi collar, which luckily they had, as well as a chirashi bowl & ebi/hamachi rolls! They were all great dishes and definitely packed with fish--the chirashi bowl was definitely huge and the fish to rice ratio there was perfect. The rice is a little heavy for both the hamachi roll and shrimp/ebi nigiri, but it was fine! We were seated relatively quickly and enjoyed our meal with some tea. Great experience!

Yelp
My husband and I visited Musashi's the last time we were in Seattle based on the rave reviews. Overall, we had a solid visit but I gotta say our nigiri looked nothing like many of the photos that looked beautiful and fresh. In addition, they were out of one of the orders of octopus nigiri, and asked us if it was okay after they already served it to us, which I felt forced us to say yes because we didn't want it wasted when they already made it. They should have asked first IMO, and we would have just omitted the item. The skewers were alright, not much to write home about. It was a decent stop for lunch, but based on the quality for lunch I'm not sure I'd return the next time I'm in the area - although it is very affordable IMO

Hanna K.

Yelp
Cute little restaurant with limited table seating. It was about 80 degrees outside the day we visited and we walked over to find the place did not have AC. It was very hot and the water they provided was also room temperature tea. The tea itself was good and we did separately ask for an ice water. Maybe because of all the heat, eating the raw fish didn't taste as great as it looked. The fish seemed to be fresh but was also room temp and the rice was the vinegar sushi rice but no other sauce which was fine. The eel, I could not eat because it was slimy and felt half cooked or old although it was the only thing cooked in the dish. The portion was good and they were picture perfect.

Skye P.

Yelp
If you're craving fresh/raw (sushi grade ofc) fish at a cozy spot with a local small business vibe, here she is!!! The space is small with great windows looking out on Wallingford. Free tea when you sit. (Table sitch: 4, 4-tops & 3, 2-tops, a counter that maybe ppl sit at sometimes but not this day). The chirashi bowl hit every craving for me. 6 types of fresh seafood (4 fish, eel, & shrimp) + roe over well flavored sushi rice nori, served with ginger wasabi and soy. Service was kind and swift. No wait at 12 on a Thursday! Greeted at door, sat and served tea with my menu, you get up to order/pay at the register then they bring it to you, mine came out in less than 5 minutes. Would come back for SURE!

Rachel Y.

Yelp
Really nice sized servings of sushi! Dining is a casual experience, able to walk in near closing time, which was exactly what we were hoping for, though would definitely consider getting take out given the style of the food!

Emily K.

Yelp
This was one of the most disappointing experiences I've had in a while. We got take out, which wasn't ready when my husband arrived. They told him he had to wait outside, even though the restaurant was empty and it was 35 degrees outside. Rude. The rolls were flavorless, they provided a tiny amount of wasabi and pickled ginger, and the unagi nigiri had a full layer of uncooked, rubbery fatty skin. Gross. We don't get take out often anymore because of the expense, and this makes me want to limit my purchases to establishments where I know exactly what I'm getting versus trying something new. I would have preferred to send a private email to writing a Yelp review, which I have never done before, but there's no email address available. The fact that I'm writing a public review is evidence of how disappointing this experience was.

Joseph K.

Yelp
Their chirashi bowl was good but like TINY like cmon, this place is so close to a UW, those kids need to eat, these portions are no remedy for a battered soul. More FISH!

Andrew T.

Yelp
We visited the Wallingford Musashi's for a quick dinner. The Chirashi bowl was filled with fresh fish and had a generous portion. The atmosphere and inside of the restaurant was calm and pretty relaxing. We really enjoyed eating the rolls and nigiri at this Musashi location.

Vincent P.

Yelp
Looking for a sushi take out spot for lunch? Musashi's is a local favorite and has this delicious Nigiri Lunch Plate which comes with 5 pieces of nigiri and 8 pieces sushi rolls. Everything was fresh and tasty, those sushi cravings will be satisfied! There is street parking in the front and side street of the restaurant and it wasn't hard to find a spot.

Kimseam C.

Yelp
Great quality of salmon! The service was fast. Simple salmon chirashi bowl. Loved our experience here. Decent size bowl with plenty of salmon pieces.

Greg S.

Yelp
Was pretty disappointed. Seattle has such a great sushi scene I'm not sure how Musashi stays open. Maybe its their cheap prices. You get what you pay for. Completely tasteless rolls, horrible service, no wasabi with the Nigiri? Go a couple blocks east and eat at Kozue. I'll never go back to Musashi.

Karla B.

Yelp
First time here, got seated immediately. It is street parking, fyi. Young server was very kind and friendly, good service. The place is small but eh not bad. What stands out to me is the fish. I loved the seared salmon nigiri, smoked salmon nigiri, and the chirashi bowl!! Absolutely delicious:) thank you!

Aravind V.

Yelp
Small no-frills shop with some amazing chirashi bowls - honestly I wouldn't need to get anything other than that here, it came in a perfect portion size and a great variety of delicious fish. The unadon was also really good (I've not had unagi that tender in a looong time!), but I wish it came with some kind of veggie or anything other than just unagi and rice. Service was helpful, friendly, and quick, and given the amount of orders they were going through, they got our food out super quick. Prices were also very reasonable for the amount of food. Overall, would highly recommend for a hole-in-the-wall kind of place with fantastic Japanese food!

Sritha V.

Yelp
The prices here are GREAT!! You probably won't get these prices for that quantity anywhere else in the city! Although their menu is quite normal and straightforward, it's a great place to takeout from. The onigiri was only $5 for 2 big pieces. I added some of my own sauces later for more flavor but the salmon inside was soo fresh. The shrimp tempura roll was also basic but a lot of food for what I paid. Thoroughly enjoyed my meal and was stuffed for only $15!!!

Paul B.

Yelp
I order food from MuSashi's very week Via Uber Eats. I never get the utensils I order and orders are regularly wrong or missing items. I called tonight to give them Feedback after my order was incomplete. A man said there's nothing we can do, the order has been delivered and hung up. What a great way to treat a loyal customer who is trying to provide some feedback on them and Uber eats... make that an ex-customer.

Max A.

Yelp
Came to Musashi's looking for an inexpensive chirashi bowl. It was so good that I ended up coming back a couple of days later. $17 for a customizable bowl of chirashi is pretty unheard of, not to mention how good the fish is. They also use sushi rice in their chirashi bowl, which is always a nice touch since not all places do that. I had ~18 pieces of fish in each chirashi bowl, and the slices of fish on the nigiri were also quite thick. Musashi's was tasty, inexpensive, and provided sizable portions. Don't know if there's more you can (reasonably) ask for.

Rebecca Q.

Yelp
Literally the greatest sushi deal in Seattle. Such fresh chirashi bowls and lunch plate for such a low price! And the spicy mayo is to DIE for.

Ashley K.

Yelp
Finally I've found my favorite sushi delivery spot north of downtown! This place has a nice basic menu, which I think is usually a good sign for sushi spots. The nigiri was honestly the most flavorful and delicious I can remember having. The salmon melted in my mouth, and the cuts were quite generous for the price. The rolls were good too, well constructed and the rice was a nice flavor. The veggie skewers weren't really worth ordering, and I do wish they had just a simple veggie side order. Hamachi collar was also so generous. Big two piece portion with plenty of rice. Better than you'll get these days at a lot of local places. Delivery was also super quick and ahead of their own estimation. I think I found my new regular sushi spot!

Cecilia B.

Yelp
Visited seattle for a week and expected the sushi to be a lot better than it was. it was very underwhelming and I don't understand why the reviews rave this spot. the ambiance is nice, but the sushi is NOT worth it.

Jenny W.

Yelp
Musashi's in Wallingford is truly the OG place. I have heard about it for so long but never made the drive up. We ordered it for pick-up at 8:20 pm, worrying that we were cutting it close since they close at 9 pm. However, when we got there, the food was already ready for us. The inside is small but cute, and the employees were friendly. Now, onto the chirashi bowl. It was so yummy. The portion size was extremely large for $17.95 of pure fish. The salmon, in particular, MELTED in my mouth and was some of the freshest salmon I have had in the PNW. The eel was perfectly seasoned and was not too salty and sweet. Tuna often tastes iron-y to me, but this was not one of them. Overall, can't believe that this little takeout spot has some of the best fish in seattle. this is a must go

Svitlana S.

Yelp
Was here with my husband first time. Ordered rice, chicken screws, salmon and octopus sushi. We are was surprised didn't cost a lot money, fresh, delicious food. Fast service. Nice workers. Small space didn't have AC so we ordered take out. I am definitely recommend this place.

Alisa B.

Yelp
4.5 stars! This is probably one of the best value chirashi bowls I have had in a while! Great portions for $16.50. The salmon was INCREDIBLY fatty and marbled. Excellent buttery quality. The yellowtail and unagi was very fresh as well! The albacore was probably my least favorite. It was a bit fishy and seared with black pepper. Not my cup of tea. I like that they don't overwhelm the bowl with too much rice too. KEEP IN MIND: It is cheaper if you pay in cash! The ambiance of this little hole-in-the-wall is casual and has intimate bar seating. Each table only seats two people. They also have complimentary hot tea and water for dine-in. This location is quite small and a little stuffy. There was a slight vinegar smell as I walked in too.

Fumie W.

Yelp
cute hole in the wall sushi spot! tried their chirashi bowl and hot sake. pretty generous portions and affordable prices! i liked how they served our food with hot tea. will be a returning customer for their chirashi bowls keep in mind, there's limited seating and have to find street parking.

Walter k.

Yelp
One of my favorite sushi spots over the past 40+ years in Seattle. Can't wait to return when back in Seattle.

On T.

Yelp
We love Musashi's. But we saw rats 9:30PM on August 5, 2024, in the kitchen floor and in the kitchen shelving. King County Public Health notified. we hope Musashi's improves.

Nick C.

Yelp
Was up here with friends for a weekend wedding coming from LA. Was recommended this place if we couldn't get other sushi we wanted for the quality and price. I wouldn't say that we found either. Place is super small and we came maybe an hour before closing and they said they couldn't take us inside. We had to get the food to go and take it to gas works park. We all got chirashi bowls and they look nice in the pictures, but were far from that. From what I've seen in recent reviews regardless of the location, everyone says the quality has gone way down. Maybe it was good pre-pandemic. You get huge portions of fish, the cuts aren't great, and the cuts are rough. The fish doesn't melt in your mouth and didn't seem super fresh. When you order a chirashi bowl you should be given sushi rice. Here you get a huge slab of regular unseasoned dry rice. Nothing that we ordered was good. Bland everything and you are charged for the quantity, not the quality. I'd much rather go to Seattle Fish guys. This place was a huge letdown for us and we know Seattle has great sushi/seafood. Maybe we are spoiled in LA, but this place isn't it. Not worth it for the price regardless of the portions. I'm not sure why it's getting good reviews at the moment to be honest.

velma v.

Yelp
Terrible Pretty simple I had a spicy tuna roll, unagi and yellow tail The yellow tail fish was good but the rice was dried out like it had been made a while ago, the unagi was good but the rice was dried out, the spicy tuna was dry, not spicy and tasted fishy...yuck. Didn't eat it. Used to be great but QFC has better sushi than this.

Natalie L.

Yelp
Found this spot recently and I absolutely love it!! The food is affordable (you pay in advance and they come to your table with the food afterwards) the sushi is yummy and they have large portions so it's super worth your money and time. It's a tighter restaurant so if you don't like cramped places maybe not the place to go but in my opinion I'd consider it cozy. Absolutely reccomend!!

Ami Y.

Yelp
The chirashi here is relatively inexpensive. The rice tasted good and the sashimi pieces were quite thick - I loved it! I don't think they allow Apple Pay so be sure to have a credit card or cash. I wish their hours are longer because they are closed on Sundays and operate only a few hours midday/evening. I'm in the area most often on Sundays so it would be nice if they can open on Sunday. Besides, it's a good deal so I'll probably make the effort to get there another time.

Veronica B.

Yelp
Host/server was very friendly and made me feel comfortable right off the bat! Will definitely be back when I am in town again, great sushi for a great price

Tai D.

Yelp
BEST Chirashi bowl in Seattle (in my opinion). 1. Very reasonably priced for a chirashi bowl. 2. Fish is FRESH. I feel like I'm someone who is sensitive to the "fishy" taste of fish (you know what I mean!), but the pieces here were incredibly tasty. 3. Variety! You can even make substitutions if you were less interested in certain pieces. 4. Fresh salmon, seared salmon and smoked salmon (so amazingly good)! I will certainly be back and would recommend this for anyone looking for a quality Chirashi bowl.

Connor Z.

Yelp
I ordered a takeout order and went home to share with my family. I suddenly realized my Chirashi bowl was lacking a few ingredients, only containing 5 different kinds of seafood while advertising 7. It was clearly missing the scallop and the eel and it was never explained to me when I picked up the order. Good food but this is unacceptable.

Lisa A.

Yelp
I would rate it somewhere as mid-tier sushi. Not the best, but not the worst so I come here at least once a month. I've only ordered takeout, and the service is always fast and friendly. It definitely hits the spot for the price!

Hucky K.

Yelp
Pros: great sushi, fresh, and big portion Cons: not much Dine in is back and credit cards are accepted now!

Generous Y.

Yelp
Some of the finest, freshest fish around which makes each chirashi bowl so wonderful. I think the go-to order here is a chirashi bowl, customized to your liking or don't customize and get an assortment of sashimi. Salmon, tuna, yellowtail, albacore, unagi, shrimp, shrimp, and roe are included, but you can specify only select ones and you'll get the same amount of fish but less variety for yourself. When I first came, I wanted to try everything. I've tried the harusame salad, some skewers, various sushi rolls, a chirashi bowl, and a chicken teriyaki plate but have now changed to only the chirashi. Everything is solid, but the chirashi just can't be beat whereas everything else can be found elsewhere. Always ask for some spicy mayo on the side too! The rolls are solid with help from the amazing fish they serve, but they aren't too special compared to other places. I don't like how they use skewers for the teriyaki plates because it's an extra step for me when eating, but tastes amazing. Once again though, the chirashi bowl is the star of the show and I haven't found many other chirashi bowls that compare. A chirashi is so simple, sushi rice with fish and ginger, but they do it so well here. Like a few others here, the cashier during COVID can sound a bit annoyed at times and grumpy but he listens well and takes your order right. Service used to be super friendly before COVID when dining in, but I understand it's super busy here and he can get frustrated being the only cashier dealing with who knows what visitors come.

Alyssa C.

Yelp
Haven't been back to Musashis in a couple of years. But got the chirashi bowl and it still hit the spot! Food quality was great. The price is a bit high in my opinion (17.95) for the size. But the quality of fish is very good and very fresh. Currently they only have a couple of indoor seating tables that fit 2 people (we had three so it was a bit cramped). The service was also not very pleasant. The cashier/ hostess seemed pretty annoyed and acted like we were a nuisance.

Arlene S.

Yelp
Heard good things about this restaurant and decided to order takeout for dinner. The portions were great and presentation looks good. We ordered the chirashi bowl, sushi nigiri platter, and spicy tuna roll. The chirashi bowl contains assorted sashimi over rice fresh salmon, tuna, yellowtail, albacore, broiled eel, scallop, and flying fish roe. The broiled eel was my favorite that the fish was soft to the bite and not too sweet. The scallop was very small in size and didn't taste fresh at all. The sashimi slices were thick but it didn't taste fresh. Not sure if the car ride during deliver made the sashimi/rice warm that may altered the taste. The sushi nigiri platter includes 1 tuna, 1 yellowtail, 2 prawns, 1 albacore, 2 salmons, and 4 pieces of assorted rolls. Similar as above, the fish doesn't taste fresh and lack flavor. The prawns were not sweet. Some of the pieces were chewy. The spicy tuna roll tasted kind of the plain and wasn't spicy at all.

Roger H.

Yelp
Yay, excited, the old Musashis is back with seating and a refreshment! Last time I went it was awful with no seating and happy staff. Food was the same as in the past, I've been eating here since college 35 years ago, it was amazing to revisit the dining we had back then.

Elaine W.

Yelp
Very simple and small joint to eat at. Got the chirashi with salmon, yellowtail and eel. It was pretty standard and good price. Nice place to stop by for a simple quick meal.

Scott L.

Yelp
I would say It's good. not bad. but not great, either. the portions are more than enough for us. none of us could finish the plates. taste wise, not so special. if you want to eat good food at reasonable price, this might be good spot. their chirashi bowl was good. I see a lot of college student eating here. maybe that indicates decent spot for the price around here.

Samuel S.

Yelp
It was a much smaller building than I was expecting. At first there was only one other party than mine and we could hear what each other were saying. So as far as the space itself, it wasn't my favorite. The food was good, but not great. Overall for the price it is a solid option. Very large rolls, but a little loosely rolled. Great location in the Wallingford neighborhood, very accessible.

Scott M.

Yelp
yesterday, I was the first to sit down at 11:30 when they opened the door for lunch, the server brought tea, then disappeared into the kitchen for 15 minutes or so. Then a woman came in to put in a large take out order which they discussed forever..... long, and short, I spent the half hour I had for lunch being ignored. I left after never being spoken to. Used to be such a great spot to eat.

Monique L.

Yelp
Great portion. I've had that to go Sushi sett and was pleased. if you don't expect wild salmon for $20 sushi meal, you will be OK here.

Allen H.

Yelp
Great pricing on dinner sushi nigiri; might initially seem like a small portion but it ended up being perfect for me (5'9 guy). Nigiri pieces were sizable, probably could take a couple bites each. Buddy got the chirashi bowl, looked solid. Again, really great pricing for sushi but took a star away due to the fact they do not use sushi vinegar in their rice. Huge part of sushi in my opinion but understandable element to take away, to keep cost down (and simplify rice-making process). Great service: responds quickly over the phone for takeout orders, complimentary hot tea, quick when eating in the restaurant too. Very small spot -- like 4 or 5 tables that can sit 2 ppl each.
