The Best Nepali Restaurants In NYC - New York - The Infatuation

"Mustang Thakali Kitchen is a good back-pocket spot in Jackson Heights. Keep it in mind the next time you’re in the area and want to spend some quality time with a plate of momos—maybe before or after a flight out of LaGuardia. We like the chow mein, which manages to be slightly charred and perfectly chewy with every bite, but if you’re here with a few people try a beef thali too. (Note that it doesn’t come with free refills, as at some other spots.) And, if your flight is delayed, order a drink, which they’ll mix at the large bar towards the back of the restaurant." - willa moore, sonal shah, bryan kim

23 Top Restaurants in Jackson Heights, Queens | Eater NY

"The menu of this Nepali restaurant originates in the north central region of Mustang. Expect the usual steamers of momo, handmade noodles in soups and stir fries, vegetable salads, and warm meat jerkies sometimes containing offal. Goat is a highlight. Many of the meals are served on round metal thalis, each containing 10 or so small dishes and condiments." - Robert Sietsema

Lhasa Brings Plump, Fried Momos and Cooling Noodles to the East Village | Eater NY

"I note that Mustang Thakali Kitchen is one of the Himalayan restaurants that offered a deeper dive into the region’s craggier cuisines, standing out among many places that presented overlapping, more limited menus." - Robert Sietsema

5 Restaurants to Try This Weekend in NYC | Eater NY

"In Jackson Heights I ate at Mustang Thakali Kitchen, a large, elegant Himalayan restaurant focusing on the Mustang District’s regional dishes—try bhatmas chiura (toasted soybean salad), yohsi (kneaded buckwheat starch), gajar ka halwa, and massive momo dumplings served with a grainy red hot sauce." - Eater Staff

The food here is absolutely delicious! I tried their jhol momo and chicken fry both were amazing. The momo had a rich, flavorful soup and perfectly soft dumplings, and the spicy sauce just hit the spot. The chicken fry was crispy, well-seasoned, and served fresh with cucumber, onion, and lime. Everything tasted homemade and full of flavor. Definitely one of the best spots for authentic Nepali taste. Highly recommend!❤️👍

We stumbled across this place on our way to dfw and it was unexpectedly delicious! It’s a food truck and the owner is awesome there’s a couple of benches to eat. We got Momos, chowmein and chaat it was all delicious but the flavor of chowmein was perfection!

Delicious! Ordered the chili momo which had a smoky, savory taste with a nice heat. Also ordered the chatpat which was a light refreshing crispy rice dish with cucumber, onion, cilantro, and peanuts. Everything was freshly made and tasty. Looking forward to coming back and trying something else!

Loved the food here! Everything was full of flavor and felt freshly made. The spices were balanced just right, and the presentation was simple but appetizing. You can really taste the care they put into their cooking. Easily one of the best Nepali spots around. Worth every visit!😍

It has been a hot minute since I had a truly great and also unknown food experience. Yes to all things, the chili chicken is wonderfully hot and balanced. The noods have the right salt level and good bite. Whatever rammekin of sauce I got, please respond to this, so I can buy a jar or large container of that please!

Stopped by to try this place for the first time recently and ordered the momo soup. The price was reasonable, the portion was generous, and the food itself was delicious. I can't wait to go back and try some of the other items.

I'm not much of a Thai food person but I came here with an open mind I ordered, chicken chow mein and chicken chili. I got an overloaded amount of chow mein decent size amount of chicken mixed it up with the chicken chili! Amazing I sure will be back to try more items 😀 the cooks there were super chill and nice 👍
