Yelp
This is the second time visiting this restaurant. Let me start by stating that the food is very good, and it's a good value for a tasting menu by New York City standards (49 Euro).
This restaurant has two floors and a bar. During our visit last night, there were three people serving all of the customers. These three people served as the host for seating, provided wait services, bar tending, cleaning and resetting of the tables, etc. It would be an understatement to say that this restaurant was grossly understaffed.
The other "ding" is that you can choose one of maybe nine cocktails. Even though they have all of the ingredients to make a wide array of cocktails, we were told that management prohibits them from making anything other than the nine cocktails that they have on the menu. I ordered something that the waiter/busboy/host/bartender insisted that it "taste just like a Negroni", and it did not. It tasted like Campari. When I told the staff member that it tasted wrong and needed to be fixed, it was brought back to me and I was told that they are not allowed to put more gin into a drink so they added more Campari. Awful.
Additionally, they forgot one of our dishes. When we mentioned it to him, he told us, "You didn't get that?...Let me check". We never heard, "I'm sorry...I'll get that for you."
Lastly, the service is NOT tasting menu service. They do not change your plates or cutlery between services. They do not explain all of the dishes as you would expect when eating off of a tasting menu. They don't even take away the dirty plates...they are left piled up. I didn't get a sense that they were empowered to fix "easy to fix" problems like you would expect with a tasting menu.
To be fair, the two staffers that served us were lovely, but they were un-empowered to fix "easy to fix" problems, and they were grossly understaffed.
We loved it the first time we went years ago, but we are unlikely to go back.
