The 35 Best Restaurants in Florence, Italy | Eater

"Veteran gelato makers, who have been crafting exceptional scoops for decades, have sustained Florence’s gelato cred in the face of an onslaught of tourist traps serving mountains of artificially produced gelato. But, one of the newer gelato shops is a noteworthy example of the younger generation bravely carrying the torch in the city considered to be the birthplace of gelato. Run by a husband-wife duo, My Sugar meticulously churns out classic flavors like bittersweet chocolate and Bronte pistachio, seasonal fruit like kid-approved strawberry and watermelon, and more worldly flavors including green tea, pure peanut, and dark chocolate spiked with local chianti. Must-try dish: Stick to the unique flavors, since the rest of Florence’s gelaterias will have all the classics." - Coral Sisk

11 Best Gelato Shops in Florence | Condé Nast Traveler

"Much of what My Sugar makes comes from ingredients sourced directly from San Lorenzo, the famous market nearby. The menu at this shop, which is owned by a young couple, is creative, and the gelato is made daily onsite. Favorites include melacotta (ricotta, apple, cinnamon, and honey) and Malaga (sweet marsala wine and raisins in a cream base). There are Asian-inspired flavors, too, including black sesame and adzuki bean. Dairy-free vegan options include orange-and-ginger sorbet and almond-milk ice." - Bridget Arsenault

During our visit to Florence, this place quickly became our number one choice for gelato throughout our stay. The flavors were absolutely delicious and unique — we especially loved the salted caramel! What made the experience even better was that the owner himself was present, personally overseeing the shop and serving the gelato. He was incredibly kind and friendly, which added a special touch to the visit. Highly recommended — a must-try spot!

I had the salted caramel and pistachio gelato on a small cone. It was affordable and high quality. It is the best gelato I have ever had, and I say this as someone who worked in a gelato shop for 5 years, and tasted the San Gimignano championship gelato.

Delicious gelato, both creative and classic flavors! Had the black sesame, matcha latte, and pistachio. All flavors were so rich and unique. The owner was really nice and the gelato very smooth and creamy. Would definitely recommend, never a line either!

Absolute dream gelato ❤️ I haven't seen such unique Asian flavors at any other gelato places, so this was so much fun! 💚🍵 (5/5) Kyoto matcha latte: Reminded me of being in Japan, I was so happy to find a rich matcha flavor. 🖤 (5/5) Black sesame: Amazing. 🧡🍊 (5/5) Nandarino e yuzu: Fruity, fresh, and juicy. 🩷🍓 (5/5) Strawberry: Fruity with bits of strawberry seeds (so you know it's real fruit!), fresh, and juicy. Don't listen to the haters, this place is wonderful! Must visit 😍

The best limone gelato I’ve ever had! Real proper ice cream made with care. Lovely lady that served us, and a perfect little hideout to step out of the sun. Absolutely delicious!! 🍋🍦

Queue to lick in 12 minutes 5pm Sunday. Pistachio and Thai papaya. Not only the highest rated, highest award, most decorated, but authentic and cheap gelato (cheapest I found and short queue) I used the wooden stool after. Tiny place. WiFi too I cracked a couple of jokes in Italian which have worked elsewhere and spoke Italian to place my order but she didn't laugh, eek! Genuine gelato shouldn't make you thirsty after... It didn't (perhaps unlike mango gelato I had in Siena!)
