NYC’s New Restaurant Openings - New York - The Infatuation

"As far as we’re concerned, a bowl of avgolemono soup on a sub-40 degree day will single-handedly solve every one of your problems. So, the next time you find yourself on the UES on a cold day with a lot of problems, head to Mykonian, a Greek restaurant with a welcoming blue awning, and a three-course prix-fixe lunch for $35. A WINE AND SEAFOOD Greek lunch in the UES at this spot that will having you feeling like you’re in Mykonos! Cute spot for date night or that delicious spring lunch I lived their octopus and white wine options

Very poor experience overall. I ordered a soup to share with my mother, but the restaurant didn’t even bother to split it into two bowls. It’s basic service that any decent restaurant would offer without asking, yet they served it in one bowl without any explanation or courtesy. Then came the halloumi, which was the worst part. As soon as I tasted it, I noticed a very strong, gamey flavor — clearly sheep’s milk. I asked the waiter about it, and he guaranteed it was only cow’s milk, saying “there’s absolutely no sheep milk in it.” That was clearly not true. Anyone familiar with dairy would recognize that flavor. It was extremely misleading and felt like a deliberate lie just to shut us up. Altogether, the food was unpleasant, the staff was dismissive, and we felt disrespected and misled. Would definitely not recommend this place.

Tasty food and great service . The lavraki tasted amazing. Great wine recommendation from the bartender, she was very professional . The restaurant looks beautiful and patrons are welcoming. It was a musice night and I really enjoyed the fabulous voice of Eleanna.

PLEASE Stop using perfume laundry soap for your linens and use unscented. The Napkins strongly smell of Laundry Soap Fragrance which is Terrible. The bread comes wrapped in it perfume smelling napkins, disgusting. Obviously the tablecloth too, it's so bad. The food is good but I can't come back. I googled why restaurants use unscented laundry soap and here is what I found: Restaurants prioritize guest experience and food safety when selecting laundry detergents for their linens. Here's why fragrance-free detergents are generally preferred: Minimizing Scent Interference: The primary reason is to avoid conflicting or overpowering scents that could interfere with the aroma and taste of the food served. Diners' perceptions of flavor are heavily influenced by smell, and strong detergent fragrances can distract from or even negatively impact the culinary experience. Accommodating Sensitivities and Allergies: Many individuals have fragrance sensitivities or allergies that can lead to symptoms such as headaches, nausea, or breathing difficulties. Using unscented products minimizes the risk of triggering such reactions among staff and customers. Focusing on Cleanliness, Not Cover-Ups: Fragrances are often used to mask odors rather than eliminate them. Unscented detergents, on the other hand, are designed to focus on effective cleaning and odor removal, leaving linens truly clean without lingering smells. Protecting Fabric Quality: Some believe that heavily scented detergents with dyes and harsh chemicals may be rougher on fabrics, potentially causing fading and premature wear. Unscented options can be gentler, potentially extending the lifespan of linens. Meeting Expectations: Guests in fine dining and upscale establishments often associate the use of unscented linens with professionalism and attention to detail, indicating a commitment to providing the best possible dining experience. In summary, restaurants choose fragrance-free laundry detergents to ensure that the dining experience is focused on the food, guests with sensitivities are comfortable, and linens are cleaned effectively and gently

One of the worst dining experiences I’ve ever had. The service was absolutely disgraceful. Bread — a basic part of the meal — was only brought after we had finished eating, and only because I had to ask for it. Unbelievable. I also ordered the Greek fries, which came with no sauce. When I asked if any sauce was available, the server pretended not to understand me — claiming my pronunciation of “sauce” wasn’t clear. Only after I said “like ketchup” did she suddenly go, “Ohhh, sauce~” and then asked me what kind of sauce I wanted — without offering any explanation of what was available. And even then, she just brought out ketchup. That was it. No effort, no communication, nothing. To make matters worse, the female servers — including one Indian staff member — were shockingly rude and completely unprofessional. From the very beginning, their attitude was hostile, dismissive, and disrespectful. And frankly, the way we were treated felt undeniably racially motivated. This wasn’t just poor service — it was blatant discrimination. Disgusting and shameful. If you value even the most basic sense of decency and respect, stay far away from this place.

Great stop on our visit to NYC. Kids loved the food, plates are big enough to share and the place has great decor and feeling. If you are craving healthy food, this is a must. Will be back.

A small yet comfy restaurant serving Greek food. It offers mediterranean cuisine including sea food dishes.

Literally just finished having lunch at Mykonian House after stumbling onto it during a walk. The food is amazing. We had Dover sole and tuna, salad, and the yogurt with honey. Everything was fresh and delicious. Service was a little slow and they forgot my side, but everyone was really nice so I didn’t mind.

Yelp
We came here on a Saturday afternoon after visiting the Met museum nearby. We didn't make a reservation and there were quite a few tables available around 5pm, so we got seated right away. We had Mykonian Chips as appetizer, Seafood Orzo and Paidakia as entrées, and an orange flavor cake (forgot the exact name) as dessert. I'd highly recommend the Mykonian Chips which are thin cut zucchini and eggplant coated in a thin batter and deep fried, kinda like tempura. It's very delicious. The other dishes were also tasty. The service was good. It used to be hard to find a good restaurant within a few minutes walk from the Met. I'm glad this restaurant has opened and it's only a block away from the Met. I'll probably come here again someday.

Yelp
This new place is buzzing- great to see it doing well. We had a reservation but they were full when we arrived. We waited at the bar, and had a slight frustration where we ordered 2 simple drinks then stood there for 10-15 mins but drinks didn't appear. When our table was ready they came for a new drinks order and we had to remind them a couple of times that we already ordered at the bar. Food was good, we sampled dips and the Mykonian chips, followed by Swordfish and Moussaka. The Mykonian chips were fun, basically a tower of sliced fried zucchini with a tzatziki dip- however for 2 of us it was way too much and we left the last 1/3, would be good as a sharing plate for a bigger table. Mousaka was very tasty. Swordfish had been grilled and looked ok but every bite tasted strongly burnt/ seared, quite strange as there were only a few black sear marks on it. It's buzzing and seems to be doing well, however tables are jammed together quite tightly. Crowd is on the older side. Staff were friendly and chatty. Gave them 4 stars but given the cost of most dishes this nearly only got 3 stars.

Yelp
This new Greek restaurant on the upper east side was hopping on a Friday night. The decor was simple, but warm. The tables were a bit close together and the noise level was a bit high. The staff were lovely and very attentive. We started off with some great bread. Cocktails were good. The food was uniformly very good to excellent. We shared the zucchini, and eggplant chips, which were possibly the best version that I've ever eaten. We also had the Maroulis salad and the Gigantes. The Branzino was excellent and I really enjoyed my big eye tuna. The cappuccino was excellent. My only complaint was that the meal was paced quickly. Individual plates were cleared as soon as a diner was done instead of waiting for everyone to be done. This contributed to the meal feeling rushed. This detracted from experience. Most entrees were in the low $40 range, which is unsurprising given the neighborhood. They do have a good deal for lunch. Overall, a nice experience with among the best Greek food around.

Yelp
The lunch special for $35 is a great deal. The horiatiki salad was authentic and a nice start to the meal. Tomato's, feta, onions, and peppers. A touch of olive oil and vinegar and that is it. For my main course I went with the salmon kebab with fries. Not sure I have had salmon on a kebab before. They were delicious. The fries were homemade as well. For dessert I went with the traditional greek dessert. The karidopita which is a walnut cake was moist and had good flavor. What a gem! I will be back.

Yelp
Everything is perfect from the moment you step into this wonderful restaurant with a very cool Greek Island ambience and vibe. Probably the best and most unique Greek spot in NYC. The owner and staff and bartender are all attentive and helpful. The menu is innovative and creative. We loved the Mykonian chips and the scallop special appetizer. The lamb chops were incredible and the large shrimp entre was spectacular. And the baklava with vanilla homemade ice cream at the end a great way to finish our meal.

Yelp
What a warm and cute authentic style greek restaurant. It has a family feel and the service is great! The mezze and salads were all delicious. The fish was also good just a few bones. The staff is great and very accomodating. I will be back soon.

Yelp
We stopped by Mykonian House for dinner and it did not disappoint. Restaurant was packed. Food was delicious, as always! And service was great. This is quickly becoming our go-to spot for Greek food on the upper east side! This time we tried zucchini chips, crab cakes, calamari and an order of the huge grilled shrimps (note they slice the shrimps in half to grill, head on). They were all delicious! We are slowly making our way across all the menu options here! Overall love Mykonian House and the ambiance it brings to the ues! Always look forward to returning.

Yelp
This exquisite Greek gem is a tremendous addition to the neighborhood - a welcome oasis for refreshment on Museum Mile. The food and ambience are as delightful as the originals, on Mykonos, and the service makes you feel just as special. Do yourself a favor - settle in, savor it, and come away with the sense that you escaped for a while...

Yelp
The experience was bad. The service is bad. The food is good nonetheless. A server came over to check on us every two minutes. We had a 6.30pm reservation and we were a party of 5; at 8.05pm we ordered dessert. I then asked for a tea and the hostess nodded her head and said no coffee no tea as if we were cut off, yet they took in the order of 3 desserts.... We were offended and therefore canceled the dessert order and asked for the check. They "offered" a brown bag of desserts as if we were there for free food... we denied this "excellent" customer service and went to another Greek Resto to chil. Just fyi... they canceled our open table reservation after we paid... so we could not leave a review... .. hence had to do this at the end of the day.

Yelp
The food was very tasty, fresh and not heavy at all (and I mean that as a compliment) . The service was great too. Prices were on the expensive side (all entrees in the $40+ range) - but I guess this is manhattan. Overall I would definitely go again

Yelp
My second time there in a week. Mykonian House did not disappoint. Our party of 4 had a great time. Food quantity was ample, service was top notch, we were not rushed, and our waitress Eleni was very pleasant and helpful in recommending dishes. Manager Greg works hard to ensure a positive experience for guests. They succeeded on both of my visits.

Yelp
Lovely food and bistro-ish environment, with pleasant and efficient staff. The moussaka and crab cake were top quality. The wines paired well with the food; there were several by-the-glass selections. We were going to a program at 7 PM, and the meal felt leisurely, yet very much on time! Mykonian will be our new go-to place near the Metropolitan Museum of Art.

Yelp
Food is excellent and service was nice. We felt warmly welcome. Nice ambiance and it's nice for a high end meal. Food was perfectly seasoned and it was delicious. We need more decent seafood restaurants in the UES!

Yelp
New Place near The MET . Great Location . Lovely folks with exceptional charm / service. Wonderfully presented Greek Food . Did I say everything was delicious and cooked to perfection ? Go visit Mykonian House !

Yelp
Went here for a late lunch last min after going to the Klimt museum. Delicious authentic Greek food. The lemon soup was incredible and perfect to warm you up from the chill. Loved the meze and the fried cheese!!!

Keith H.

Yelp
BEWARE Food and service were excellent. Crowded and noisy but that goes with success. So why the one star review. I left a 20% tip of $40. The restaurant put the charge through as $80. No response to my attempts to reach them through their website. Now I'm going through the hassle of appealing the charge with Visa. Maybe an honest error or maybe hoping I wouldn't notice. Hmm???

Yelp
Honestly this was amazing! Service was great however it was a bit slow but WORTH THE WAIT I am not kidding when I say this food is incredible delicious and amazing, the decor was so pretty it was crowded however for a crowded restaurant the service was good. Nice people we were sat down very quickly we came for lunch. Great for kids! I 100 percent recommend.

Yelp
I had great hopes for this new addition to the Upper East Side restaurant scene. My food was delicious and the waitress couldn't have been nicer. Unfortunately, however, my husband ended up with a bad case of food poisoning from the Chilean sea-bass he had eaten. He was up for most of the night being violently ill and almost had to cancel his flight the next morning for a business trip as result. I called the restaurant the next day and explained what had happened and asked to speak to the manager. I was told it was too busy at the time and he would call me back. I totally understood and waited for his call. This has been more than two months ago now and I'm still waiting for that call with an acknowledgment and an apology. I won't be holding my breath obviously for this to happen. It means he lost a customer and I certainly won't recommend this restaurant to any of my friends.

Yelp
Stopped in for a drink last night after private tour of The Met Very very very hot in the restaurant-kinda like a dry sauna. Barstools are uncomfortable Drinks were average to small pours Clean Friendly Way too hot for most people

Julia P.

Yelp
Very disappointing experience here. We had reservations, but within thirty minutes after sitting down we were rushed with finishing up our dinner. Four times within 10 minutes staff came up to see if we were done with our food. This was followed up with host coming by to see if we would move or take free desserts home to free up our table for another party. It left a very bad taste and we will never be coming back.

Yelp
We had the 3 course pre fixe lunch and added a bottle of wine . The food was amazing, the service was fantastic and the ambiance was perfect. Give this new spot a try. You will not be disappointed. By far one of the best meals I have had head in quite a while.

Nicole B.

Yelp
Friendly and attentive service in a cosy upper east side setting. The trio of dips were excellent. The octopus and horatiki salad were phenomenal. The mousaka was good but the center was cold. The chocolate lava cake was perfect.

Elle M.

Yelp
An absolutely lovely new restaurant. The atmosphere was warm as was the service. Truly welcoming. We enjoyed our dinner so much, the standouts were the gigantes, Greek salad, Mykonian chips actually each and every dish was fantastic. We look forward to returning and trying a few more dishes.

Don F.

Yelp
FAKE. This is not a fine dining place. It's just an upscale Greek diner. The decor is cheap. Ordinary lighting, boring with no atmosphere. And the hospitality is terrible. The hubristic manager has no understanding of customer service. He must have come from a diner because It's clear he never worked at a finer restaurant before. For the prices they are charging, they should be much better everything including the food. So disappointing after all those supposedly great reviews.

Robin K.

Yelp
Mykonian House A lovely, upscale, UES Greek restaurant with a super friendly staff. The dining room is light and pretty, with tables very close together. The host is so hospitable and accommodating. The servers are affable, attentive and very pleasant. The food is fresh and tasty. We opted to share the grilled octopus and Greek chips (eggplant and zucchini sliced thin, breaded and fried). The octopus was grilled and served sliced with capers and onions. While our preferred preparation is grilled whole with lemon, the octopus was still very tasty as were the Greek chips. For entrees we ordered the salmon and tuna, both of which were very fresh, extremely well prepared and delicious. The lovely staff and host brought us a very yummy Greek yogurt for dessert. Dining at Mykonian is like eating at your wealthy, warm, convivial Greek relatives home.... the ultra welcoming service, very fresh fish and lovely ambiance makes Mykonian a keeper. We cannot wait to return!

Michael B.

Yelp
Absolutely beautiful restaurant. Just an amazing staff. The manager, Gregory is over every every little detail throughout the evening .....The food is absolutely delicious. I was with my entire family there on Saturday night. Had a beautiful table. Highly recommend this restaurant. Just an overall great experience.

Juan Carlos R.

Yelp
Food absolutely delicious and service was incredible. Ambiance very elegant! Highly recommend visiting this gourmet restaurant.

Yelp
The Bar on Thursday night was so friendly. People on both sides were talking openly and happily. The Greek beer and tequila, as recommended by the bartender, were a smooth addition to the perfectly prepared shrimp, scallops and branzino. Even the zucchini chips were crispy, not soggy, and light. The baklava was nutty, not overly sweet, an excellent ending to the most satisfying meal. Luckily, I walked home and I am ready to go back to Mykonian House for another exceptional experience.

Carolyn C.

Yelp
A delightful new addition to the UES. Generous portions of delicately seasoned fish, salads and appetizers. Wait staff friendly and professional.

George I.

Yelp
Authentic Greek cuisine. The avgolemono is excellent and they will give you more lemons if you want them. The beat salad is also fabulous. The hummus that accompanies the bread was delicious. The sea bass melted in my mouth. The spanakopita was excellent though there wasn't much of it. The karidopita was an excellent variation. Overall the service and ambiance were quite pleasant.

Judy Z.

Yelp
Just had lunch at this new restaurant today. The food was delicious, the ambiance was great, very clean, white and Myjonian, and the service was excellent.

Donna A.

Yelp
I could not wait for Mykonian House to open. The food and service were excellent! I have been there three times already and plan on going back. The seafood orzo was delicious!

Linda L.

Yelp
Food was wonderful. Lentil soup and shrimp with feta in tomato sauce were very delicious. Great service and lovely setting. A very welcome addition to the neighborhood! Will return!

Ryan P.

Yelp
Delicious new local spot - loved it so much that I left a Google review, but stopped over to Yelp to leave another and make sure they succeed. I have absolutely no connection to the restaurant other than being a local to the area, but I have to say that the tzatziki and chocolate lava cake were to die for! The place is booming, and the atmosphere feels authentic and warm. Servers were all extremely kind and attentive. Will definitely be back sooner than later!
