Metro Detroit’s 11 Best Restaurants for Korean Food

"Also located in Southfield’s New Seoul Plaza, pop into Myomee for a bubble tea or mid-day or after-dinner bingsu, a shaved ice dessert that’s popular in South Korean cafes. Myomee’s version uses a thinly shaved frozen milk and sugar base (instead of ground ice), which results in a snowlike consistency." - Danny Palumbo

One super cute café nestled right among all the K-drama shops — totally my vibe! Every order was bursting with flavor, seriously loved them all. I’m not usually into matcha, but theirs? Game changer. The signature Myomee latte was chef’s kiss. Would go back anytime! It’s got that unique and cute charm that matches my style perfectly.

Google
This is hands down my favorite boba tea shop in Southfield. I always order the Dalgona Tea with Oatmilk, it’s my go-to drink and never disappoints. The ambiance is cozy, and the staff are always friendly and welcoming. I do wish they would expand their menu to include Japanese and Korean desserts; it would be the perfect addition to complement their drinks. I think it would also make the place even more enjoyable, especially for kids and families. Speaking of kids, there’s a fun gotcha ball machine right outside the café that keeps them entertained. Right next to the shop, there’s a K-pop store filled with Korean and Japanese merchandise, which adds to the whole vibe. To top it all off, there’s a Korean restaurant/barbecue spot right beside it, and just across the street, you’ll find a Korean grocery store stocked with all kinds of Asian products and fresh produce. It’s really a one-stop destination to hang out, grab a drink, enjoy good food, shop, and explore. I always find myself coming back!

Google
Horrible Service. Cashier states everything is out. Cant serve me or substitute anything. Or even buy plain shaved ice with no toppings for the teething babies. Just full of girls who not trying to work. Can’t add, subtract, substitute anything. Not worth the price, time, or energy. Will not come back.

Google
I came here earlier for the svt cupsleeve event. The drinks were great and the person who took my order was really nice and helpful. When I needed help with anything like getting the price for a keychain or photocard holder, someone had helped me out with that as well! I had an awesome time here and this was my second time coming here after February. Thank you so much Myomee cafe for giving me one of the most fun time ever!! 💕💕💕

Google
Pretty good bingsu but was a little overpriced. Good to share with one or two other individuals. Prob 2 to finish the entire thing and feel satisfied bc it’s still a pretty big bowl for just two people.

Fran Allen

Google
Went here specifically to try the Bingsu...we ordered Cookies & Cream and Strawberry Shortcake. They were both delicious! There is only one size and it is definitely for 2-4 people to share! Highly recommended!

Google
My go to place for bingsu!! I don’t think there’s any other place in Michigan that has this so this is definitely the place to be. Wish they expanded their menu. They had mango for a minute and that was great. Would love it if they had some cheesecake options. Nonetheless, staff is always welcoming, there’s always space to sit. They sell other stuff besides bingsu, like drinks and bread, ice cream, etc. There’s a Korean bbq in the same building and an Asian store with different goodies. A great hangout place for friends and families :)

Google
No food available, the tables, chairs, and floors are sticky. The booth was out of order. While the ambiance should give Korean vibes it was very disappointing. Lots of teens though on a Saturday. Definitely not your average day coffee shop.

Yelp
Really cute place to hangout with friends! Portions are HUGE, we struggled to finish our treat even with 5 people. The shaved ice was fresh and light and not sweet at all. The perfect summer treat!

Yelp
INTERESTING, for sure. Comestibles and Potables. Photodocumented experience. Execution and Hospitality. First time, they can tell -- by my wide eyed look. Staff explained how it worked. I am not a big Boba person, so it was fine; tasty, cool, and refreshing. Logos, Pathos, and Ethos. The whole place is interesting.

Yelp
Basically a shaved ice. It was delicious, not overly sweet, strawberry was fresh. Feels like you're eating snow. It's milk based so wouldn't recommend for those who are lactose intolerant. Great staff and service
google avatar

Daniel M.

Yelp
Decor is cute and the drink looks like it might be good. But the taste was disappointing I'm not sure about the other items but the strawberry matcha latte was not good. Matcha didn't taste like high quality matcha. Also slightly gritty. The strawberry puree tasted very artificial. The boba was hard. If I had to get it I would've just got the regular matcha because the strawberry puree really introduced a bad taste that turned it from ok drink to undrinkable. Took 2 sips and couldn't drink it anymore. It was 7 dollars so not sure why they couldn't use quality ingredients. Also no plugs to charge laptop that I could see.
google avatar

Nicole G.

Yelp
When I went in, I think there was a k-pop card trading event so it was pretty crowded but the place itself was so cute :) I was very excited for bingsu and it was worth the wait. While we waited, we took pictures by their photobooth and checked out the K-pop store nearby. They also have a claw machine with cute items. Once we got it, I would say the bingsu itself was tasty but I think the shaved ice cream wasn't as soft as I'm used to. Nevertheless, it was still tasty and we ate it all lol. We ate outside since it was crowded but the outside was pretty nice. There's also a kbbq place next door and a Korean market right across. I wouldn't mind coming back if I'm ever back in the area :)
google avatar

Jeongmin H.

Yelp
Their matcha latte is SO tasty. They have very unique drinks like like dalgona latte, cinnamon honey latte and strawberry matcha, which I tried a sip of each from my friends and I loved every single one of them. They also have lactaid and don't charge you extra!!

Yelp
Myomee is the premier bingsu place in Metro Detroit. Hot day out and you need something to cool off? Myomee is just the place for you. On this visit we got: Myomee Milk Tea, Large, 50% Sweet, Less Ice w/ Boba ($4.75 + $0.50) - Sweetness is good at 50%, brown sugar complexity comes out. I'm kind of skeptical of the claim they use Jasmine Tea here, given the color and the fact that it tastes nothing like jasmine and instead tastes like a nice black tea. Also the menu states this is made with milk, but it tasted like creamer to me - maybe a dairy based creamer? The boba is very, very hard. We ended throwing the boba out. I think it's a good drink, but skip adding boba. As a bonus, the price is also a bit cheaper than other boba shops. Injeolmi Bingsu ($12) - This is a great shaved snow, perfectly constructed with layers of shaved snow, kinako and condensed milk, topped with an additional layer of kinako, shaved almonds, mochi, and a large scoop of red bean paste. The flavors meld together perfectly. This is a huge portion, and we barely finished it with 2 people. I would definitely come back to try the other flavors! Definitely give Myomee a try if you're looking for an icy dessert.
google avatar

Kyna V.

Yelp
The desserts here are really tasty and unique. The service was quick and this place can get packed but there's seating outdoors too. I would definitely recommend their shaved ice desserts!
google avatar

Yelp
I came here in passing and it was very cute! However when I was there, their register did have several difficulties that was definitely affecting the person working. The cashier was definitely very knowledgeable about the menu and was very helpful! Overall, the coffee I got was a little expensive and it was a good coffee pull but it wasn't the most amazing coffee.
google avatar

Yelp
This is THE hangout spot for my friends and I. The drinks are amazing, the staff is super kind and there are always cupsleeve events going on here. There is always something new going on and I'm here almost every weekend. If you haven't checked out this place I would 10/10 recommend!
google avatar

Yelp
I'm done gatekeeping this place! This cafe is great, not only are their drinks amazing but I've always enjoyed coming here because of the service!

Yelp
Overall, a 4.5/5, but bumped to a 5/5 because this is really good for Michigan. I'm from an area where there's abundant of amazing bingsoo so my standards are high. I've heard about Myomee for a few years and I finally got to go with a few friends this past Sunday night. I love that they have a later closing time compared to other cafes so my friends and I were able to chill there and eat bingsoo for awhile. The bingsoo didn't take too long to be prepared to us and were at a reasonable price range ($12-14 per) and were pretty sizable. The four of us first got one bingsoo to share before we realized we needed a second one, haha. INJEOLMI BINGSOO One of the classic bingsoo flavors that I love. The ice was shaved well, and there was a generous amount of the injeolmi, mochi, and almonds. Overall, not too sweet and I'd recommend if you're a fan of injeolmi. I didn't love the red beans since it tasted like it was from a can. The texture was pretty brittle. BLACK SESAME BINGSOO I love black sesame so this was great. I wish there was more black sesame, though. My thoughts about the red bean still applies here. Overall, I'd recommend this, as well! I would come back in the future to try the other flavors. The STRAWBERRY MATCHA looks fantastic. They also seem to have a fantastic selection of lattes, classics & in-house specialties.

Yelp
Nice cozy ambiance. Friendly staff. Big portion and it was just enough for 4 of us. I used to have shaved ice desert in Japan and I found this place so I gave a try. We all enjoyed this dessert.

Yelp
Love this coffee & dessert place! It's my favorite (and one of the few) bingsu places around. I love getting it in cold weather or warm, but obviously it's even better when it's super hot out! In the same building as a KBBQ place, so it's the perfect post-meal sweet treat! Also for this summer (until end of August 2022 as of right now), in the same plaza/building, there is a K-POP STATION POP-UP in collaboration with Myomee! So if you're a fan of k-pop or k-beauty, this is your one stop shop!
google avatar

Lily N.

Yelp
Myomee is inside a small plaza along with a Korean bbq place and small shop. Myomee is almost always busy at night I'm assuming because people go here before or after eating Korean bbq. My boyfriend and I went for Korean bbq but got dessert first because the wait was so long. The mango bingsu was so fresh and light I could eat a million of these! Definitely a go to! I haven't seem many bingsu places around Michigan so this one is for sure a keeper!
google avatar

Yelp
Green tea cookies were amazing!!!!! Other buns that we tried were okay but nothing special.
google avatar

Naoko S.

Yelp
Craving for Injeolmi Bingsu and drove from Ann Arbor 30 min. It was worth driving. A HUGE yummy Injeolmi bingsu with red beans at $12 for this size- price is very reasonable! The ice particle can be more powdery and presentation can be a bit more presentable but ample mochi is so great. Opened until 9:30-10pm! Will try again
google avatar

Janella L.

Yelp
Omggggg these bingsus are HUGE and yummy. I'd definitely come back here for dessert. They do get squished if you take them to go though so just FYI
google avatar

Tori H.

Yelp
amazing portions to share, quick service and plenty of room to sit. they have a variety of flavors so everyone could find something they like, from fruity to savory and traditional Korean flavors. 10/10 would recommend you try it at least once! it's a great treat for special occasions or dates, from experience :)

Bridgette S.

Yelp
Each time I've been great experience, great options of drinks and dessert. Small grocery store of asian snacks ( ramen, ice cream, drinks, chips etc). Service is fast they make it in front of you, the area is very clean and laid back with kpop music as well.
google avatar

Madison D.

Yelp
I always get the iced Matcha latte and it never disappoints. They have snacks they sell in the shop as well but they are a little expensive. Staff are polite

Yelp
Anytime I get a chance for some shave ice, I'm in! In this case, it's Bingsu. We popped in after dinner next store. The many times we have visited, it's been relatively relaxed. Myomee is conveniently located in New Seoul Plaza, and it's truly a hidden gem if you have never been. It's a coffee shop with coffee (obviously), various Bingsu, bubble tea, and other Asian delights. We opted for the Strawberry Shortcake, and when I say it could feed a large family, I mean it could feed a large family! It's MASSIVE. But it's on par with the price, so don't let that scare you initially. It's the perfect summer treat, not overly sweet, and the freshness of the strawberries makes it delightful. My husband and I tried to finish it to no avail! I have never seen bingsu around Michigan, so this has been a gem of a find.
google avatar

Vincent L.

Yelp
The problem with this place is that it is hidden next to a dealership next to a highway that only one way can gets to it. But apparently people are ok with the hassle and get good drinks and snack They have a pretty big selection of roll cakes, Korean drinks and sweets and snacks. I haven't try all their drinks yet but the milk tea is pretty good. Not too sweet or bland like a couple of popular tea cafe in Detroit . Customer service and interior decorations are very nice also
google avatar

JJ S.

Yelp
A bit hard to find but this is a gem! We tried the black sesame bingsu and wow.. the bingsu was so smooth and delicate I was so impressed! The red bean tasted great and not overly sweet. Wishing it was closer to us else we would go every week. The ambience is relaxed, staff is nice and courteous although we were there at a slow hour.
google avatar

Codie Nicole A.

Yelp
Love stopping in here after KBBQ! Conveniently in the same plaza! They offer quite a few different bingsu options from super sweat cereal kind, to more traditional with black sesame and a matcha flavored one. They are plenty big to share! Also they offer bubble tea and a few other things I have yet to try. Also have a few shelves with ramen and other types of snacks for purchase. Cute spot to dine and enjoy your food as-well!

Yelp
What a pleasant surprise to be able to find a Korean shaved ice dessert shop in this area (I mean, even in the SF Bay Area I think we only have no more than a handful), and the desserts tasted amazing. We came here today for an afternoon snack and ordered 2 Bingsu bowls: injeolmi (roasted soybean powder) and strawberry shortcake. The injeolmi was a true classic Bingsu flavor and therefore is a must, you guys. And this shop did this right as the shaved ice was milky, icy and very refreshing. The strawberry shortcake one was also good especially when eaten together with the Graham cracker crumbs and the strawberry syrup that they put on top of the shaved ice. The price was not cheap, though. The injeolmi cost $12 (as of September 2022) and the strawberry shortcake cost $16. However, I think the price was justified once you see how humongous the portion is. I mean, we could not finish our bowl, lol. Therefore if you come here, I strongly recommend that you share each bowl with a friend. Overall, our experience today here was good, except for the service by the cashier. The cashier was not very friendly at all and he seemed extremely jaded. I understand that he was just a kid and was probably bored, but a little smile would definitely have made this good experience of ours even better :)
google avatar

Minna A.

Yelp
Best bingsu I've ever had! I've been to other bingsu places, and the portions aren't as big and the ice isn't as flavorful.
google avatar

Li S.

Yelp
Found makku here after the Yelp Detroit event, but it was pricey! Very clean, very friendly service. I'll have to come back here some time to try some of their own offerings.
google avatar

Ericka S.

Yelp
The frappe was amazing will absolutely be back to try more of the menu! They offer a variety of Asian/Korean snacks, desserts and drinks as well for purchase and have an awesome ambiance.
google avatar

Nicole E.

Yelp
Trying an iced super fruit tea unsweetened with boba (tapioca pearls), strawberry and mango popping bubbles. They sell bagged pastries, some Korean snack items and cold drinks for sale as well as a large assortment of teas. There's a ton of yummy, soft chewy boba and popping fruit bubbles, the most I have received in so far. The mango and strawberry popping bubbles held add a bit of sweetness to the tea. It's a nice balance. I think a cold muttled raspberry or fruit of some sort would make this drink better to me.
google avatar

Julia L.

Yelp
The presentation of the bingsu was soooo pretty! We thought it was too big at first but ended up finishing all of it! Definitely recommend :)
google avatar

Yelp
BING SU IN MICHIGAN LIKE IN ASIA?! AMAZING! If you haven't had bing su before, put it on the list! It's the same concept as a snow cone but with better flavors and WAY softer "snow" that isn't coarse. We had a wonderful lunch over at DaeBak and decided to grab dessert at Myomee. We wanted to try matcha, but they were out of it so we went for the Black Sesame (black sesame power, mochi, nut powder, red beans and condensed milk). The nut powder is basically a peanut-based powder, which my fiance and friend said was like Cheerios! I loved the added nuttiness from the black sesame. It's a huge bowl for $12 which is pretty premium (Los Angeles' average is about ~$10) but I guess we don't have other options if we want bing su!
google avatar

Savana R.

Yelp
This place is a great spot for people both familiar and new to bubble tea! The cafe is cute with indoor and outdoor seating, a mini shop with food/drinks, and a grassy wall backdrop for photos! There is also a shop with cute accessories, makeup, and collectibles for kpop fans! An awesome business to support and I can't wait to go back!!
google avatar

Tamara F.

Yelp
I seriously love this place. It's in the same venue at some amazing Korean food. This place is so low-key, and tucked away on the Northwestern Highway service Drive. Man their bubble tea is really delicious. I think I found my favorite flavor, which is strawberry matcha green tea. They also have bitsu there, but I haven't had a chance to try it yet. The environment is so calm, cool, and pretty. It's very relaxing inside of there, there's always a place to sit, and the staff is very nice.
google avatar

Jenny P.

Yelp
I've come here three times within a few weeks already. I love their bingsu! Love them! I've only had three flavors so far. The strawberry matcha, unicorn, and black sesame. If you're looking for more fruity then the unicorn one is the way to go. More nutty, black sesame. Those two are probably my favorite so far. The strawberry matcha was disappointing for me for some reason. Perhaps the the strawberries. I just didn't like it, surprisingly. The ice is so soft! The softest I've had so far and a generous amount of toppings. Their buns are even delicious though it's a bit pricey. But it's addicting. It's cool how they have punch cards. 20 hole punches and you get a free bingsu. Challenge accepted. Love this place. Highly recommend. And staff is amazingly friendly and helpful. Awesome vibes.
google avatar

Mariko I.

Yelp
The perfect spot for dessert that caters to Asian tastes with their matcha/red bean combo as well as American tastes like fruity pebbles! Pros: very large portions, good variety, extremely pretty, nice employees, lots of cool snacks/ramen/drinks in the store too Cons: a little expensive but the portion was large enough that it could feed multiple people I really liked that they put the fruity pebbles on the bottom of the bingsu too so you're not left with just icy milk once you finish the top layer! :)
google avatar

Mercedes V.

Yelp
Ordered Taro Bubble Tea with tapioca and boba. I was surprised to see that there wasn't enough ice on my cup so the drink end up feeling like lukewarm in my hands after awhile. The price was below $4 but it wasn't worth it. Worst bubble tea ever made. Usually I go to Kung Fu Tea in Sterling Heights. My friend ordered the Matcha Green Tea, forget if it was served hot or cold. She said it tasted good. I would probably be back to try their shaved Dessert (bings)and share it with my hubby during hot weather. I see the serving size is a big bowl enough to feed 2-4 Dessert lovers. It reminds me of the Filipino halo halo or the same shave Dessert I had in Taiwan night market. It was around 9 pm and most of their breads were gone. They have a rewards card so remind the cashier to give you one and have it stamped. After 10 trips, you get a free bubble tea. Receipts are printed or emailed to you. The cashier and tea specialists were friendly. Liked the wooden tables and chairs. Great place to hangout for after lunch or dinner tea. I just won't order the bubble tea. Preferably stick to the regular tea;-)
google avatar

Amy L.

Yelp
I love Korean shaved ice so much and was super excited to hear they opened up a spot just for that. This place did not disappoint their shaved ice is smooth and creamy and have so many great flavors to choose from. My favorite is definitely the match and strawberry.
google avatar

Shanna C.

Yelp
Came here with a friend and it was both of our first times. Decided to share one and order a second if it was not enough. We went with the traditional injeolmi bingsu. It came out within 5 mins, and it was DEFINITELY large enough to share between 2 ppl! It probably could be shared amongst 3 ppl too. It was $10, which I felt was pretty good considering I'm willing to spend anywhere between $3-8 on froyo/ice cream/frappe from Starbucks. It was the perfect mix of sweet and nutty! I also like that the shaved ice was very fluffy and fine, creating great texture. The other bingsu were pricier, but it also came with more complex toppings. I will have to come back again to try more flavors! TL;DR worth the try, most will say the price is slightly high but I think it's good value if you share it!
google avatar

Tam N.

Yelp
The shaved ice is good. The bubble teas are not. It tastes like water - no flavor/milk/sugar.
google avatar

C J.

Yelp
Great matcha green bubble tea Instead of taking it to go, I decided to sit and do some work while enjoying my drink. They have a variety of noodles that also looked delicious and a strawberry shortcake that I must try next time.
google avatar

Mimi Y.

Yelp
This is the only place that served good Korean ice cream in Michigan without going to Chicago.
google avatar

Juliette M.

Yelp
The Bings never disappoints! The fruit is always fresh and sweet, and the staff is kind and courteous.
google avatar

Esther S.

Yelp
Delicious korean shaved ice. I've had the black sesame, unicorn, very berry. Very fine ice and soaked with condensed milk/fruit puree depending on the style. It is huge, so should be enjoyable for 3 to 4 people.
google avatar

Suzanna N.

Yelp
Super fun dessert, shaved ice is milky and flaky in all the right ways! Imagine having a super luxurious bowl of creamy cereal with lots of tasty toppings. The service is great, the atmosphere is very chill, and the portion sizes are fairly large so be sure to bring someone to share. There's lots of fun snacks and desserts to try. The next time we are hoping to save room for the Korean BBQ that's right next door!
google avatar

Claudine M.

Yelp
This place has really great bingsu! It really hits the spot especially on a hot summer day! We got the mango flavor and it was delish. Not too sweet, big pieces of mango, mango boba, mochi, mango syrup and condense milk covering shaved ice. Yum! Can't wait to try the rest of their flavors!
google avatar

Corina M.

Yelp
I've been on such a boba/matcha kick lately! Fun fact I thought I hated matcha drinks untill I had a matcha drink from here! So refreshing and delicious! I've been back multiple times since!
google avatar

Jenny H.

Yelp
I was finally able to try out Myomee after hearing about it and seeing pictures of their bingsu (shaved ice dessert). My boyfriend and I tried the black sesame one and loved it-- the red beans on top were a little too hard though.. might have been refrigerated for too long? My friend ordered the unicorn one which we thought was too sweet -- it just tasted like cereal (since their main ingredient was fruity pebbles); however the aesthetic game was strong for this one. The bingsu is definitely big enough for 2-3 people.. I highly recommend it but just note that it is quite pricey.

Yelp
Tucked away in New Seoul Plaza, this little cafe that serves coffee, tea, and patbingsu (a korean shaved-ice dessert) is a wonderful place! The place itself looks trendy with the eclectic series of lights up above and generously spaced-out tables below. I ordered the strawberry matcha bingsu and it was everything that I could have hoped for. Having lived 20+ years of my life on the west coast as well as being Korean, I have had my fair share of bingsu throughout my life. I was most impressed with the bingsu at Los Angeles and, of course, Seoul but the bingsu here comes pretty close to the real deal. The taste is refreshing and deliciously sweet with good, fresh ingredients. I will definitely be coming back here for more of the bingsu in the future! My only qualm is that the price is quite high. At 14 dollars, high price point could be due to the lack of competition around the area. Until other businesses arise that are bold enough to try to create this unique and tasty Korean dessert, I don't see the prices going down anytime soon. Definitely expensive but a treat that's well worth it for a celebratory occasion or if you are craving ice cream but want something a little different!
