The Best Restaurants In Mystic, Connecticut 2024

"This small restaurant started out as a food truck a few years ago, but now it’s a small restaurant with a busy takeout business. The move here is to pick up a few bags of takeout after spending the day pretending to be a pirate on a day sail. Stick to the signature dishes menu, like the wedding chicken roast with a blend of garam masala, saffron milk, and raisins that hits all the right sweet and spicy notes. Some other standouts: the rich lamb chop korma that’s been marinated in 16 different spices for slow-cooked for 12 hours, and the Singapore-style chili shrimp with a sauce that will kick you right in the tongue." - tanya edwards

Amazing experience at Mystic Royal Restaurant! The food was absolutely delicious — full of flavor, fresh, and perfectly spiced. I tried the chicken biryani and samosas, and both were incredible. The staff was super friendly and welcoming, and the service was fast. The restaurant was clean and had a cozy vibe. If you’re in Mystic and craving Indian or Bangladeshi food, this place is a must-visit. Can’t wait to come back!

We had a lovely time at Mystic Royal Restaurant. There is outdoor seating and indoor seating. A clean unisex restroom. There’s outside parking, and there’s pavements so that you can walk in too. I liked the personal touch on the artwork on the walls. The food is delicious here. Beautiful Bangladeshi cuisine. I would definitely recommend the Achari Beef, the railway rice dish which had vegetables, chicken and shrimp. We also had the tandoori shrimp. The mango lassi was amazing. You can tell that each dish was made with care, because the food was mouthwatering. If you want genuine ‘Indian’ food - it is worth every penny. The restaurant owner was very attentive and a great hostess. Come and support this local female owned business. I look forward to trying out the Mystic Royal food trucks too. The manager/chef Sheuli told us, the truck is in Groton soon. Can’t wait for our next visit. All the best.

This Is A Vegetarian Review A magical dinner to cap off our magical stay in Mystic. We had the place to ourselves, so the chef and owner took some time to tell us about their restaurant and her family recipes. By the time the food came, expectations were high. Then we were met with a bouquet of aromas, flavors and textures that were a delight! From the wine to appetizer to entre to tea, everything was served with the promise that if we were dissatisfied it would be replaced. It was an amazing experience! Thank you Mystic Royal

Coming and eating at mystic Royal was such a great experience. Starting off with customer service, waiters were really nice! They all gave us some time to decide what to get, instead of rushing and taking a while to get things together. So 5 stars for the service. Then we ate. I got veggie samosas, a gourmet Wagyu burger, and a donnor shawarma. Veggie samosas were so goidthe taste was like that they used fresh oil

I got the Tandoori Naan Wrap, a Wagyu Burger, and a Mango Lassi. The tandoori chicken in the tandoori naan wrap was so juicy, and it was flavorful. And I gotta say, the seasoning was top notch! The gourmet Wagyu burger was hands down one of the best burgers I ever had. I wish I could get 2 of them. And lastly, the mango lassi. It was really good because the ratio between the sugar and mango was really well put. Amazing job!!!! You should come here!!!

Let me start off by saying the time table and treatment that this restaurant gives is horrible. I came here and was sitted after 15 minutes they came to take an order. From there it took a whole 45 minutes to get 1 appetizer and another 20 minutes to get mango lassi. It gets worse after the appetizer was served the waiter tried to charge me for the full course and tried to make me pay $60 for two mango lassis and 1 appetizer after I noticed this FRAUD then they brought my food note that at this point it has been 2 hours and the place only had 3 families… this behavior shows you what they think of people who dine here.

We went for dinner. The appetizers that we ordered were amazing, and the main course... speechless. Test, freshness, and quantity everything was outstanding. Mainly the Beef was finger-licking awesome. Also a good variety on their menu. They have good outdoor seating too.

Now I won’t have to think twice anytime I crave for good authentic spicy food.. Loved it. I can’t even remember all their numerous cuisines name.. it’s like you name it and they serve it. Absolutely love my new favorite restaurant 🥰

Yelp
I would recommend making a reservation or placing your takeout order in advance, since they cook everything fresh. The portions are smaller than expected for the price. That aside, let me tell you why the five stars. I am vegetarian so I have visited many Indian food establishments. I happen to live in a town full of Indian restaurants. Mystic Royal has made the best Indian food I have ever had. We ordered takeout for all four vegetarian entrees, and wow, the spicy eggplant dish made quite the impression. Top notch. The spice level is customizable. All the flavors of each dish come out. What a mouth savoring meal!!

Yelp
I've had a variety of their food from the food truck at Electric Boat. The food was always delicious and servings were very generous! I had to ask them to reduce the volume of food so I would not waste it. They also fulfilled a special request of making a "Salted Lassi". It was delicious!

Yelp
My wife and I were craving Indian food and this restaurant was highly rated. The high ratings were well deserved. The owners are from Bangladesh, and they are quick to point out that this is not an East Indian restaurant but a fusion restaurant (I have never been clear on what a fusion restaurant is other than expanded menu). There were a number of dishes normally seen on menu from an Indian restaurant but no Nan bread. Instead they have paratha which if found I liked more The food was excellent. Previous cautions regarding wait time for food correct as I think every thing is freshly made rather than scooped up from last weeks offering. The ambience was modest (think small town diner rather than five star Michelin restaurant). I am more interested in quality of food. They do have a nice outdoor space. They caution regarding how hot you order food. My wife ordered it at 1/10 and was good. I have the Fireman's bowl and I think that is a 3 or 4 out of 10. I asked to have an order of Dal for take out at the heat that the chef usually eat it at. After signing a consent form and waiver (joking) she gave me an order of dal at 8/10. I tried it at this heat and yes, probably should have a glass of milk or some yogurt to cut the heat. I will try a 10/10 next time. All I all an excellent experience and one to be repeated.

Yelp
I'm really happy with meal my wife, son (3 yrs old) and I shared at mystic royal last night. Food was delicious and made from quality ingredients. Service was prompt and personable. There offerings were a very welcome stray from the typical menus in the mystic area. We had the parata appetizer, chicken tikka masala and some sort of dal. All were delicious. There are some things to know about the place. They have a really solid vegetarian section. Ordering mild spice can be considered a touch spicy for some. And the ambiance is nothing remarkable but it is clean and comfortable.

Yelp
The food was delicious the service and chef did an impeccable job. We had the fried rice a must try and the butter chicken and beef and dhal everything was delicious.

Yelp
I was excited to taste their food as it looked rather good, however, the door was locked and the workers simply looked at us and didn't let us in. We were there an hour before closing!

Yelp
Great food. Friendly owner. Recommend the daddy's favorite beef. The butter chicken curry was also delicious. Curry heat options offered. Worth a try!

Yelp
HIGH price for small amounts of flavorless food. Was excited for a new place to open locally. We ordered 3 dishes: Wedding Beef, Chicken Vegetable Curry and Chicken Korma. These were the "dinner" size....came to $43. It does come with Rice in separate container. The chicken Korma was mainly leg bones and a few peices of meat. The Wedding Beef was an oil slick. The Curry dish was very disappointing. I really hate to leave negative reviews, and always wish a new establishment lots of luck, but this was not acceptable. Maybe other dishes are better...but we will not go back. Additionally, they were not even spicy and lacked layers of flavor. Hope my review saves someone hard earned dollars.

Yelp
Excellent takeout chicken dishes, good homemade bread, and kind staff members. Good spot to check out!

Yelp
Very friendly & accommodating family business. Charming young man (7 years old perhaps?) greeted me when I arrived for pickup. The aroma filled my cold midsized sedan as I drove over the rain slicked pavement on a cold September evening. The flavors I met when I arrived home warmed me to the bone. 5 stars. Will return. I haven't been this satisfied with a late night meal as I have been Since I visited Duquesne, PA. Thank you. Delightfully pleasant, warming & round.

Yelp
Ordered the Beef Curry with Roasted Potato and the Nhaom Nhaom Shrimp Curry... both excellent! My son ordered the Kids Mac'N Cheese and loved it! The Halwa was surprising and excellent. All told, Awesome!

Yelp
Just had a wonderful meal at Mystic Royal. It is a great find that is just off Rt 1. I was happy to find vegan options. The Cauliflower and potato was amazing. Just a slight spice. I definitely recommend and can't wait to return.

Yelp
We read about this new gem in The Stonington Times. We order a selection of apps and kabobs for take out on Mother's Day. Everything was so delicious. The owners are absolutely lovely! I highly recommend.

Yelp
Finally found a Bangladeshi restaurant in Connecticut! After living in CT for 4 years I finally found this restaurant! Ordered food online then sent my bf to pick it up. Delicious!! Now we don't have to drive all the way to Jackson heights for bangali food! Or visit my mom to often jk lol but they are amazing! My boyfriend said they were super kind when he went to pick up the food. We will be trying out other things from the menu for sure!

Yelp
I'm a local, and shame on me for not visiting sooner. It's fantastic, started out with Royal Spring Rolls and wow, the homemade sauce that came with it was amazing. Next up the Chicken Shawarma Wrap, spices are spot on and Shawarma sauce was perfect. Also ordered Royal Fried Rice, Hot and Spicy. The rice was so light, you would of never thought it was fried. Spices and heat were flavorful. I found my weekly go to, can't wait to try their signature dishes. One last thing, everything is local farm to table. Thanks Shuli for an amazing meal. See you soon!

Yelp
Exotic and tasty. Great service; very pleasant. We had tandoori chicken and samosas and the unique bread. Everything was scrumptious. Definitely would come again!

Sheryl E.

Yelp
The food was excellent and prices are very reasonable. The meals are cooked from scratch when you order. Everything is fresh. I had tandoori chicken & it was NOT dry! I've eaten alot of Tandoori chicken & this was the best. My meal came with Basmati rice & Fusion sauce. My husband had House Special Drawbridge Fried Rice. It was also excellent & the shrimp was so delicious. My daughter had Egg Fried Rice & she really liked it. The pararha was handmade & also wonderful . The owners are very nice and the food is made with love. The food is so good that my husband wanted to know what the chef was making for tommorrow (Weds) so we could eat there before we leave town. We met some locals while there and they said that they eat there alot and every meal is great. We also had the mango lassie & loved it. We also ordered the last 3 rice puddings. Also delicious. This is the first meal that we've had in Mystic where we left full & actually had leftovers. his is the first meal that we've had in Mystic where we left full & actually had leftovers.

Yelp
I was very impressed with our recent dining experience with Mystic Royal! We ordered a shrimp, chicken and lamb dish along with some samosas and everything was delicious! The simosas were flaky and not greasy. Filled with potatoes and vegetables. The main dishes were cooked to perfection! Each dish had their own unique spices. They supply you with large portions of basmati rice to accompany your meal. Would highly recommend Mystic Royal! I know we'll be going back.

Yelp
A glittering little star on the culinary sky of Mystic . The atmosphere, food and service has been great. We had five different items from the menu each one was perfect . If you are looking for authentic Bengali South east asian fusion food this the place to go. We surely will return to try more items.

Cindy N.

Yelp
Food and hospitality were both wonderful, enjoyed everything we ate.

Yelp
This place is definitely worth stopping by. We went for the first time on Sunday and was greeted by the owner. She was extremely helpful in explaining the levels of heat and different spices used in the dishes. We had a variety of items from soup, wings to main dishes and each one was amazing. Every item is made fresh and it is reflected in the taste, well worth a little extra wait time. I can't wait to return.

Yelp
The menu has recently changed. The food remains fantastic. I write the following to convey my praise as succinctly as possible. I ordered spicy eggplant and tomato. The chef took both from her plants. She then cooked. It could not be fresher. It could not be any more delicious. It is rare in today's world to find food made with love. It is rare for people to have pride in their work. At Mystic Royal, you get food with both and then some. I have brought several friends to dine here. They have all returned on their own. One who is from out of town, told me, "I have dreamed of returning since I left last time." The paratha bread, made, of course, from scratch, is outstanding. The fusion dressing, made, of course, from scratch, elevates a simple salad, to simply divine. Every single bite resonates with the soul. The location can be missed. It can also be confused with another restaurant, around the corner. The good news is, when you do find Mystic Royal, you are in for a treat. The food does take some time to get there. Food made from scratch will do just that. You will leave with your belly full, but in no way, uncomfortable. You will be entirely satisfied. The quality and care in the preparation is unmatched. I can only give five stars. More are needed.

Yelp
My husband and I visited this charming hidden jewel yesterday and came away very impressed! The owners are charming and so invested in their delicious and healthy fusion food. They grow most of the peppers and herbs the use in their cooking and source the rest from fresh and local sustainable farms. We tried three main dishes and ordered a second helping of their indescribably delicious eggplant dish! It was a beautifully spiced and perfectly peppered concoction that we couldn't get enough of. The beef dish also was delicious and tender and gorgeously seasoned. The third dish was chicken in a parmesan cheese sauce. Perfect for Italian food preferences but not as interesting to us as the South Asian inspired offerings. My five star rating comes from the joy it was to meet the owners and consume the food they truly offer with love. Their multi-country fusion menu has lunch sized portions and prices and a more extensive dinner menu that changes seasonally and offers plenty of options for all taste preferences. The restaurant is small but also has a lovely outdoor patio. Due to the size of the space and staff calling ahead to reserve or order is advised and will be appreciated especially in the evening. We can't wait to return!

Yelp
I have ordered take out three times and each time I have found the food to be delicious and packed with flavor. The proprietors are absolutely lovely people and their children are adorable. I live close by and will be visiting frequently. There are many fantastic food options in Mystic and I am very happy that Mustic Royal is adding to the diversity of of the many wonderful options in this area.
